Months after he stole her affections—then her executive chef position—Shyann and Luke meet again under sizzling circumstances, competing head-to-head on a televised cooking show called Kitchen Twist. Each arrives with a motive: Luke intends to win back Shyann’s heart, even as she wants closure on the not-so-tasty heartbreak he once served up.
Luke knows culinary masterpieces require a delicate touch, but that knowledge is tossed out with the leftovers as he works to show Shyann he’s not such a bad guy. Now he pushes his skills to the limit to win the competition and satisfy a bet.
Can two top chefs resist each other as they move out of the pan and into the fire?
My writing journey started with an old fashioned typewriter. When my family brought it home, I knew what I wanted to do. All those stories rolling around in my head could finally get out. The press and click of the keys were satisfying in their own right, but when I pulled out a finished page, I knew this was for me. Since then, I 've graduated to a laptop, but the stories still find a way out.
I'm a breast cancer survivor, a teacher, a wife, a mother, and a writer. Nowadays, I strive for less procrastination and more tact. The battle wages on.
After Chefs Shyann and Luke break up, they meet again on a reality cooking show. Shyann wants payback for what she sees as Luke's lies and betrayals. And besting him in the kitchen would put him in his place. Luke wants a chance to explain his previous actions and win back Shyann's heart. The kitchen's not the only thing that's hot. Shyann and Luke are cooking up a little heat of their own.
I don't read many short stories but wanted a quick story for an overnight trip. I wasn't disappointed. The dialogue was believable and sometimes humorous and the characters were well developed--more so than I expected for such a short story. Both Luke and Shyann had clear, logical motives for their actions and the conflict wasn't contrived.
Even when Luke did something seemingly unforgivable, I understood why he did it. I also knew he'd regret it. Which says a lot about characterization.
The sex was hot, almost erotic yet Ms. Marks tempered the scenes with emotion. Those who like erotica will be satisfied with the heat while those who prefer a bit less exposition in the bedroom will not be offended. A perfect blend sure to please.
I recommend INTO THE FIRE to anyone searching for a fun, fast-paced read or anyone who likes cooking shows and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this
Is it getting hot in here? Into the Fire is a fast and funny story. The kitchen is on fire with the interaction between Shyann and Luke. It is passionate and emotional. The setting and descriptions are fantastic and I felt like I was on the set of their battles. The sous-chefs were hysterically funny and I would like to see them get their own stories . I really enjoyed this book and I recommend that fans of TV cooking shows get this book.
Delicious! Admittedly I'm a Foodie - Food Network, Cooking Channel - but you don't have to be a foodie to enjoy this story. The author keeps the pace moving and the sexual tension twists tighter and tighter until......;) You guessed it - sex/love scene is fantastic! Into the Fire is HOT STUFF!
Shyann and Luke meet on a cooking show as contestants months after he lied to her and tore her heart out. Shyann and Luke are competing against one another in more ways than one.
Shyann wants nothing more to do with Luke after what he did to her except to get revenge. Luke only wants the chance to explain to Shyann why he did what he did and try to win back her love.
As the heat in the kitchen starts to heat with the cooking contest, things also start to heat up once again between Shyann and Luke. They don’t seem to be able to keep their hands off each other.
I enjoyed following along with Luke and Shyann on the cooking show. I enjoyed their time spent together. I enjoyed reading about the things that went on at the cooking show. I am not into watching cooking shows much but I do glance up at them on occasion as my husband watches them all the time as he is the chef in the house. I have to let him know the dishes I would like to try, right?
There was just enough heat and plot to keep things interesting and the story flowing smoothly without bogging down with too much of one or the other. There is just about the right amount for any fan whether they like a lot of heat with their romance or not.

Into the Fire is a contemporary romance novella that fails to engage its readers and unfortunately contains numerous flaws preventing it from becoming a worthwhile read.
The main issue with the novella is that almost the entire cast of characters are very two-dimensional and lack any traits that make them stand out in any way. The only character that stands out in the novella is the main male character, Luke, who tends to irritate readers with his thoughtless actions and arrogant personality.
Into the Fire clearly attempts to be a romance; however the ‘relationship’ between the main characters seems to be lacking any real feelings and the actions of the characters throughout the novella suggest that resurrecting their failed relationship would be a mistake. This leaves the readers rooting for the characters to remain apart instead of hoping that they will reunite.
The plot tended to solely consist to moments of heated sexual tension between the two main characters; the actual show that the characters are reunited on to compete against each other in a cook off seemed to be treated as irrelevant to the plot despite early significance of it. Furthermore, the few issues that were required to be resolved in the novella seemed to be solved too quickly and too neatly without taking notice of other important factors.
Overall, Into the Fire was a disappointing contemporary romance novella.
*****Spoiler Alert****** Kind of disappointed. I'm not sure if it was because it was only a short story or what. I loved the humor in the book, that's almost always a plus. What I didn't like is that even after Shyann found out that her sister had kept Luke from contacting her and making things right all along, she still won't listen to him or even give him a chance to explain. Then someone else tells her right then and she actually asked him why he didn't tell her??? He spent the entire story trying to do that very thing. I have no problem with the style of romance in this book and as I said the humor was really good.
Luke Tracy and Shyann Devere heat up the kitchen in more ways than one when they part of a TV cooking show "Kitchen Twist". Luke wants Shyann to hear him out as to why he lied. Shyann does not want to hear his excuses but only to win the competition so she can open her own business. Luke crushed her heart but she still wants him. Luke does not even want to win this contest but only to get Shyann to listen to him and possibly get back together.
I loved this book. Have to admit, I'm partial to cooking shows, so this really hit with me. I know this is a debut author, but she did wonderfully! Packed a lot of wallop into the pages. Plan to read more from this author!
very suspending and very romantic keeps you wanting more even now I want more. I have no regrets reading this book and will continue to read more by this author
