Seventeen year old Tiphanie feels like the weight of the world is on her shoulders. After dealing with her father getting gun downed and killed when a robbery goes bad at an ATM, she loses her twin sister to leukemia. Her mother Connie becomes depressed and starts using drugs and alcohol to cope. Tiphanie has no happiness in her life until she meets Jerome, the handsome guy around high school. They instantly become a couple but can the two of them deal with life’s curve balls that are constantly being thrown at them? Does love conquer all? Can Jerome and Tiphanie’s relationship withstand the storm headed their way?

Rikenya Hunter, born in Louisville Kentucky, writes from a young adults point of view. Rikenya has always had a passion for writing and storytelling and has been keeping a journal of her own life since the age of eight. She has a unique way of seeing life from her character's eyes, leading you along the path as a participant instead of an observer. Rikenya currently resides in Jacksonville Florida, with her high-school sweetheart and their two daughters. She's signed to Shan Presents and she's currently working on new material and working towards earning her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

GOOD READ

This was a good read despite the fact that the author and editor didn't seem to know the correct way to use your vs. you're and there vs. their throughout the entire book. I think there was a few more incorrect words used but I can't remember it right now. Sasha was truly a sad individual and I hate that Sheila died because of her. I wasn't shocked to find out that Jeremiah could possibly be Jewel's father....I peeped that when Sasha accidentally called Jerome by his name....

It took me a while to read this book only because I became bored. Later on in the book it got a little more interesting. This was just a plain read to me, nothing exciting, just plain. Will I read a part two to this story? If it's better than the first then yes I would!

To me, this book was a good read. I thought The Awful Truth gave great insight on the life of Tiphanie & how she dealt with life's obstacles that were placed upon her. In the beginning, it was disheartening that although Tip had unconditional love for her mom, Connie, it was not reciprocated. After Tip met Jerome, I was glad Sheila stepped in to provide the positive female role model Tip needed. Looking forward to reading more books by Rikenya Hunter.

Not a good read

I disliked this book because it was poorly written. Although the plot was good, the execution wasn't. I didn't like where the author kept giving us a very long detailed description of whatever medical problem that was going on. There was also a lot of rambling and a lot of parts that were not realistic.

Could have been better

I had to force myself to finish this book. It just didn't hold my attention, it wasn't a page turner. It was somewhat predictable. I may or may not read part 2.
