How does one review anything C.D. Reiss puts out there for us readers to enjoy and do it justice?? Personally, I don't think I can but I'll do my best and try ...
May I suggest you do this
before you dive into this final instalment. Trust me, you'll thank me later ...
To say this piece is scorching would truly be an understatement! In only a few pages, we get to experience Jonathan roar back to "life" approximately 6 months after the events at the end of 'Sing' that happen prior to an epilogue ... but don't underestimate C.D.'s ability to deliver in those few pages because does she ever!
If I had to describe CD's work, I would probably say "panties optional", "less is more" and "size doesn't matter" because if anyone can get to the point without beating around bush and set you on fire with her writing, it's none other than Ms. Reiss!

Many of us wondered what the future would hold for these two after the twists that came with Sing. Would the experience change them - would they remain the same - could things both change and yet still remain the same? This is where our answers are found.
I have loved every moment of this series. We began a journey with Monica several books ago. We watched her go from lusting after a man that showed her things that she tried to deny she wanted, and eventually accepting that the pain that she gained from Jonathan's punishing hands was the only thing that grounded her. We weren't alone on our journey though. We had a brilliant tour guide, C.D. Reiss.
This was a scene of a glimpse into their life post Sing, but at the same time it was a part of the much bigger whole. The writing remained true to the style that we have all fallen in love with. I am excited to be along for the ride as we venture into a whole new series and for whatever else she might have in store for us.

It's been 6 months since Jonathan's surgery. We get to see how Monica and Jonathan's relationship is holding up and what is going through each of their minds. It is brilliant, open, raw, and down right combustible. Jonathan is struggling with his identity. Monica loves Jonathan but craves and needs Jonathan as he once was.....and Hot Damn if CD doesn't give us what Monica needs!!!

“Songs of Submission” was over. The crowd applauded passionately and I find myself within the audience in this atmospheric, regal place, feeling emotionally content and breath-taken, like the feeling you are blessed with after you have experienced an extraordinary performance, but selfishly wishing for more.
Then the Master, the maestro, returns to the stage and his muse, this divine voice, the Goddess, follows his lead and they sing a cappella the encore. A honest, raw piece of music.
“Monica” is indeed the encore to a symphony perfectly orchestrated by Jonathan and artfully executed by Monica.
I leave this place overwhelmed, in awe of this mastery and secretly hoping for even more: the coda, the finale of this literary work.

At the end of Sing we knew Jonathan wasn't "himself" for a while but we knew that he did come back and he roared back like a lion. This is that scene. This is Jonathan roaring and Jonathan being the "King" he is; his roar was ferocious and all consuming (and well freaking hot!!!). "I haven't told you this in a long time, so I want to remind you. You are mine. Any time. Any place. Without questions. You get on your knees when I say. You spread your legs when I say. You open your mouth and take whatever I put in it. Do you understand??".

When CD Reiss sent me the email offering up this final installment of Monica and Jonathan's story, I knew I'd devour it. My only complaint was it was too short. I love all things Reiss. Her writing is poetic, sultry, mild-blowing in its ability to build characters and scenes. She will be a sure thing for future go-to books. This book is basically an epilogue to Sing so read no further as it contains spoilers from Sing if you haven't read the series in its entirety.
Monica, a quick 45 minute read, brings us back to Jonathan and Monica several months after his discharge from the hospital. They're married, she's making music, he's . Things for them have tamed down and Monica craves the Dominant Jonathan of before the illness.... She's thankful for him but craves the pain, the protection of a Dominant.
What'll it take to get him back?
Anyone who's read SoS knows the story. Jonathan is the king of Doms and Reiss doesn't fail in giving us the happily ever after for this couple. Questions answered....I'm just thankful for the extra opportunity to feast on her awesomeness.

This novella is included in the eighth book, Dominance. In order to avoid spoilers and not miss anything, it's best to read it in the order GRs has set up.
And another piece of advice is just to skip this novella all together and read the expanded version in Coda. It's all there and even better.
I loved the difference about Jonathan in the beginning...just because it was different but I really wanted a steamy scene!
And of course, he figures things out and takes care of business.

I wanted a happily Ever After...
I think we all did after the raw feelings from Sing...
Monica & Jonathan were never going to to have the Disney Princess HEA.
They have a relationship a touch darker than that.
Their love is more primal.
And she finds her freedom in submission.
This was a great epilogue to the Songs of Submission series.
C.D. Reiss truly writes for her fans. She didn't have to give us the details of Jonathan's recovery & soul-searching... But I am so glad she did.

"Monica" is a very short novella that let's us back into the lives of Jonathan and Monica.
There's still out of this world sex to be had between them, but something is missing.
Jonathan is not the sexy "dominant" he once was.
Having someone else's heart in his body feels strange.
He questions if he is still the same man.
Will he still love his goddess with intensity?
Monica is missing the dominant Jonathan.
She loves him still, but longs for the man that wielded control over her.
Well, let's just say I don't think Monica will be sitting down for a week after the last sex scene between the two in this one!
I'll miss these characters but at least we got closure.

Jonathan and Monica Drazen’s continuation didn’t disappoint at all! I was happy since the moment I found it in my email until I finished it. I think it’s one short story I’ve read which has it all..packing a punch, you say? Pardon my English :p I’m deliciously content, deeply satisfied but still wanting more. I’m feeling like a broken record because I can’t say enough praise for C.D. Reiss. Seriously, you should read this series then you get what I mean.
I was gone, my identity washed away in complete submission to his pleasure and his will; without ambition or desire of my own, simply enslaved, caged, collared. Nothing. No one. Not a feeling of dissatisfaction in my belly, only humility and a feeling of complete, overwhelming gratitude.

In Sing, we're left with a tiny glimpse of Jonathan's recovery. It's implied that Jonathan takes it easy. Or rather, we assume that he takes it easy for about half a year, then back to his sexy dominating self. Understandable. Those assumptions completely underestimate Jonathan.

There's a pivotal moment here, that I don't want to spoil. A moment where Jonathan reassesses his role as Monica's husband. And what that means for them.
Now Monica. Not neglected really. Grateful for the moments she's been given. But, the fundamental framework of their relationship had been damaged. But...

Literally. Monica is infinitely understanding. She has her career to distract her. Jonathan understands, but he's ready now. He's ready. Now for the second pivotal moment.

There are at least two ways for CD Reiss to render us addicted to her books. There is the slow, easy way like the eruption of a volcano such as Mt. Etna; constantly bubbling under the surface and running down the mountain devastating everything in its path. As you read, you are in a constant state of...well, many emotions least of which are the tinglings in every nerve ending.
Well, "Monica" is the other kind. Monica is Mt St. Helen's where the explosion was so massive, half the mountain disappeared. Obviously, you have caught on to my metaphors but only once you read this scene will you truly understand. It is short, it is sweet and it is absolutely explosive.

Once again I am blown away with the talent of Ms C.D. Reiss! Even though this was just a short novella; I hung onto every single word. This author has the ability to bring me to my knees with her writing! I feel the emotions that she is trying to project from her characters right down to my soul. It helps that I adore both Jonathon and Monica. This was a treat from Ms. Reiss to her fans, and even sweeter was she gave it to us free of charge! It was nice to get a bonus scene of our favorite couple reconnecting through their usual power exchange that they take so much pleasure in.
I loved seeing Jonathon back to his dominatiing self. That man is a force to be reckoned with, and I adore the intensity of both him and Monica. Not only was there steaming hot sex; but some very heavy emotions throughout the scene that was written. My only complaint with this was that it was way too short! Of course it left me crying for more, but I loved how at the end of the scene the author explained that eventually we will get more of this dynamic couple. That is all I needed to hear!! It may be a long time away; but I'm satisfied to know that I will someday get to revisit my favorite duo!
Thank you Ms. Reiss for being so generous to us fans, and for giving us more of this couple that we all love and adore.

Monica, having sensed something wrong in Jonathan, is also left with a part of herself missing. This emotional scene depicts Jonathan and Monica connecting back to the true essence of their relationship. The emotions expressed are raw and real, gritty and dirty but completely beautiful.

5 Monica Stars
I don't think I'll get enough of Jonathan and Monica, EVER. They’re my most favorite couple. This story takes place six months after Sing. It’s hard and easy at the same time. Jonathan comes back in a BIG way. Monica is just as kick ass as always. She’s the quintessential woman to me. She’s everything I’d ever want to strive to be. The beauty of their relationship is amazing throughout the whole series undoubtedly. But the transformation, the growth of this fierce woman to who she becomes from where she started. The unraveling of her life that ended up being the knots that formed her is just brilliant - big kudos to C.D. Reiss for creating an admirable, desirable, brilliant, fierce woman. It’s the light and dark of any relationship; the dealing with tough situations and overcoming them. Together they're a truly unstoppable force. Nothing I can say would give these two proper justices. C.D. Reiss is a brilliant writer. I'm so grateful to her for this story. If you haven't read this series you absolutely, positively must!

Wow! Hot like fire! This is the Jonathan I feel in love with! We've witnessed the evolution of Jonathan and Monica throughout the series but this book takes us back to the basics of who they are to each other and why they are so good together. Oh, yes! It was time to recalibrate! I will miss them but I look forward to reading about the Drazen sisters! Hopefully we'll catch glimpses this couple along the way but sometimes it's ok to just leave perfection alone!
