The entire political system of the Five Empires hangs in the balance, and all because of a mysterious war machine. As one empire commences its attack on another, generals on either side meet to discuss the strange events of the last few hours. Nobody seems to know what's going on. Meanwhile, the assassin Nikah and her strange companion go in search of an Oracle to explain a mysterious prophecy.
Aaaand it's all making sense now - how Isha became what she became.
I'm intrigued by the relationship between Isha and Nikah - a majorly deadly assassin is hanging out with a little girl, and it seems this girl might be the first creature the assassin has ever had any smidge of loyalty to. Of course, there's something a bit different about Isha ... she isn't just any little girl.
This was a great final instalment in the series (as it stands currently), although it ends on an incomplete note. I'm told that the author is writing this into a full length series, so I can't wait to check that out when it's ready, even with world building changes that are expected.
