"We’re the same. Both of us trying to outrun our past.”

Having never read a book by Gina Gordon before, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. All I knew after reading that synopsis, was that I had to meet Neil. Illegal street racing? Hell yes! Count me in.

So color me thrilled when a few pages in I found out that this street racing is on motorcycles. Yes, I'm easy. Give me a bad boy, tattoos, and a motorcycle and I'll be an orgasmically happy vibrating mess. I was even happier to find that it also had an engaging and steamy plot to go along with it.

Neil Harris seemingly has it all; good looks, women, money, and a career he's always dreamed of. But he's also a man that is battling some very dark demons and his form of therapy is with illegal street racing.
It wasn’t about the money. He had more than enough to last three lifetimes. It was the rush. The danger. The feeling of letting go of everything and everyone, even if for a brief moment.

Carson knows all about personal demons and the destruction they can bring. So when she finds out about Neil's nighttime activities, she's determined to do anything she can to keep him from a fate she knows all too well about.
She still didn’t have a clear answer as to why he raced last night but she recognized all too well the darkness that emanated from his eyes. She knew firsthand how easy it was to let the darkness take over, to let the speed of the road engulf you, suck you in until you’re so deep it’s impossible to climb back out.

One of my favorite parts about this book was Carson's character. She was such a kick-ass heroine. I loved that she was a rider herself. It's not very often you read about a female riding a motorcycle.

She battled demons from her own past, but she still had this core of strength that I really enjoyed about her. She wasn't some meek, shy heroine. She really gives Neil a run for his money.
You can think I’m privileged, a daddy’s girl or whatever other colorful stereotypes you can think of, but we have a lot more in common that you think.
I know what it’s like to have that darkness manifest itself on the track.”

I also really liked that she wasn't shy about saying what she wanted in the bedroom. Not every day you read about a dirty talking heroine.

This book was steamy. And I mean STEAMY. Neil was just the right amount of broody Alpha, and Carson was just the right amount of sassy.
I’m demanding,” he said, his lips hovering over hers.
“I know.”
His hips brushed her stomach. “I’m insatiable.”
“I have no doubt.”
He dropped his gloves onto the ledge then raised his hand and secured a strand of her soft hair behind her ear. “I think I could use some distracting right now.”
She blinked and looked up. “I think I could use some fun right now.”
“Then I think for the very first time we agree on something.”

I really enjoyed this story, though there was one thing that kept it from being a 5 star read for me. I'm not a big fan of  insta-love, insta-love, insta-anything really. I felt that Neil and Carson jumped into a sexual relationship too soon for my likes. I like to feel the sexual tension between the couple, it makes it that much more gratifying when they finally do the deed. So you can say that I'm a bit biased when I have these situations in a book.
I have to admit though, that Gina Gordon seemed to pull of the quick sexual relationship quite well. I thought I may lose interest in Neil and Carson as a couple, but that never happened. It was written in such a way that kept me engaged until the very end.

If you're a fan of steamy contemporary romances, then definitely give this one a go. I'll be looking forward to more Madewood brothers!

mmmm, yummy!

I was so happy to be asked to review Recipe for Attraction. The first in the series, Recipe for Satisfaction was a great read and I remember thinking I cannot wait for the rest of these boys to get a book!! And here we have it.....Neil Harrison, bad boy, damaged. Since the loss of his foster mother, this boy has been on a downward spiral.....playing with fire to distract him from the dark voices that plague him. Carson Kelly is a bad girl/risk taker/thrill seeker, suppressing herself to make her daddy proud and to get hold of the business that should rightfully be hers.

Carson is the head architect on Neil's restaurant and both have been battling an attraction to each other for more than a year.

As you can imagine the tension in this book is delicious, these guys simple zing! Neil is the alpha male that we all love...battling feelings of protectiveness, jealousy.....making an ass out of himself in the process ;) What's that saying? Love makes a fool of us all. I have a particular weakness for reading books when characters battle with these emotions and find them acting not themselves.

The steam factor in this book was not a let down. After the first one I wasn't sure we could have any hotter scenes, but hot damn Gina Gordon surprised me again. Motorbikes, trees, dining tables, windows? Very nice, I was fanning myself.

I felt this couples desperation for one another and hurt when they had to deny their feelings to get what they thought they wanted. This was another excellent contemporary romance from Gina Gordon and I can't wait for the rest of the Madewoods.

3.5 - "You're everything I never thought I could have." Stars.

Recipe for Attraction is book two in the Madewood Brothers Series. Neil Harrison is the eldest boy that Vivian Madewood fostered, and as you read his story you begin to realise that although on the outside he appears to be the cool, calm collected matriarch of the Madewood Catering Empire, underneath his is struggling to overcome his grief at the loss of maybe the most important person in his life.

Carson Kelly is also struggling to establish herself and to move on from the mistakes of her past, mistakes that her emotionally stunted father doesn't seem capable of letting her forget about. Neil and Carson rub each other up the wrong way continually, but the chemistry is there, and after bumping into each other at the ‘wrong place and wrong time’ Neil is no longer afraid to push Carson’s buttons to get what he wants from her.

Stupid, infuriating man. Stubborn, obnoxious... hot-bodied and sexy.

I liked Neil; he has a dirty, dirty mouth and a self-destruct streak a mile wide, I wanted to give him a hug, and then shag him senseless. Although we get more family drama with Carson, it wasn’t nearly as annoying as Sterling’s (Book 1) and her drama wasn’t the main focus of the story between her and Neil.

”You’re everything I never thought I could have.”

She filled a part of him he thought long gone.

Sexy, enjoyable and easy to read, Recipe for Attraction is a great addition to the Madewood Brothers series. Looking forward to seeing what Finn has in store for us in Recipe for Seduction on 26th May 2014.

I liked this one but I didn't love it. For the life of me, I could not connect with either of the characters. I did like Neil but Carson, I just didn't get all. Some of the things that she did, including her backstory were just kind of random. I never saw her as this badass street racer. If she had just been an architect who fell in love with the boss, that would have been fine. But the street racer just didn't ring true for me. Otherwise, this would have been a stellar read.

Series: Madewood Brothers #2
Review:

"Recipe For Attraction" by Gina Gordon was a sweet contemporary romance of Neil Harrison and Carson Kelly. How this 'bad boy' and high spirited architect would fall in love was sheer magic by this author. Carson worked for Neil... and how did all these two really get involved? From ...illegal street racing? What had happened early in Carson life that she wasn't able to put behind her and why was she so interested in trying to help Neil through this? Was their really something going on between them that neither could resist that 'ignites a passionate affair?' What would happen with Carson and her father that finally drove her to really know what she wanted to do with her career? Would Neil finally realize that his 'personal demons'were too dangerous and if he didn't put a stop to it? ...well this all the above questions will be answered when you pick up "Recipe for Attraction" to see how this author brings it all smoothly together with the words 'I Love You.'

The characters are all so well developed and colorful only making this such a good read. I love how this author was able to bring the rest of the cast from the first series into this wonderful well written read. Be ready for 'drama, action and passion.' Wow is all I have left to say!

This was a 'spectacular novel' and you will find it hard to put down until the very end. "Recipes For Attraction" is the second in the Madewood Brother Series but it reads can stand alone. Would I recommend? YES!

This is the second book in the series and its about Neil and Carson. Now admit ably I did not read the first book in this series, which I am going to rectify today with a quick one click purchase because this book was so good I want more, more and more!!! Even though I had not read the first book I was still able to follow along as this can be read as a stand alone. Except once you get a taste of these Madewood Brothers like me you will want more.

Carson is a architect working for her dad and is currently doing a project for Neil. They have been working together for over a year already and are at the end of the project when a chance encounter at a illegal motorbike race brings them together. From there onward the sparks and clothes fly as these 2 get more than they bargained for.

This is a great read with a HEA that will keep you smiling as well as entertained for the duration of the read....Keep a fan nearby as it is quite the hot read!!!

I don’t know what it says about me that I can’t seem to stay away from books with food, chefs, restaurants, bakeries, or cooking competitions in them. Maybe it’s a subliminal message because I really do love spending time the kitchen although I don’t do it as often anymore as I use to. Whatever the case, my need for cooking related stories was filled quite nicely by Recipe for Attraction by Gina Gordon. I loved this story of two people who on paper appear to come from very different backgrounds but in reality have way more in common that they or anyone ever imagined. It was quite spectacular to watch one reach out to the other and the trust they began to build that led to much more.

I really enjoy couples who verbally spar and enjoy it. It makes life fun and interesting and it also becomes spectacular foreplay when they finally admit that there’s more to what they want than verbal confrontation. Such is the case when restaurant owner Neil Harrison and architect Carson Kelly find themselves in an unlikely arrangement that suits both their needs at least for the time being.

Neil Harrison has a past and it’s not pretty; in and out of foster care until he was taken in by a middle aged woman who gave him a home, a love of cooking, her love, and eventually three additional foster brothers. Following her death, the brothers have been struggling but Neil is about to have his dream realized however the edginess he’s felt since his “Mom’s” death hasn’t left him and there are only two things that help him get past of it; one comes with complications and the other could kill him.

When Carson Kelly suspects Neil is putting his life at risk she feels she must step in and take action. She knows it’s crossing a line she shouldn’t cross, after all she’s currently the site manager and architect of his new restaurant but she can’t let someone else she knows risk their life. She never expects to suggest an alternate way for him to get past his need for speed and she certainly doesn’t expect to develop feelings for the man who has driven her nuts for the past year.

There was so much good about this story and yes part of it was the absolute scorching sex scenes between these two. Both have demons, both feel the need to be in charge, and both think that they don’t have time for any type of a relationship nor do they deserve it. Oh how I love to watch people like this fall! It’s fun to watch the disbelief when they realize they’ve shared more than they ever have with another fun. It’s entertaining when they begin to realize they are thinking about the other person way more than they should. And it’s flat out satisfying when they realize they actually need the other person.

It’s hard not to love a book that has it all and Recipe for Attraction does; deep characters, an entertaining plot, smart dialog, and enough hot and steamy sexy to leave you hot and steamy! This is another hit from author Gina Gordon and I can’t wait to see what (or who) is next!

My Review:
I missed the release of this one and this is definitely a series that I enjoy. The premise of these four books (3 are out so far) is that 4 teenage boys from the foster system were taken in by Vivian (not sure if that name is right) Madewood. She showered them with love, showed them what family means, and gave them each an appreciation of cooking. All four became chefs and close brothers who run the many family businesses and charities.

The wildest and the oldest is Neil. Ever since Vivian died, he's been fighting demons by illegal street racing his motorcycle. Carson, the architect who's been building the new Madewood restaurant and barn complex, sees the signs of his dangerous night life and can't stand by to let him kill himself. So she gets involved and offers him a different kind of distraction...one that they definitely both enjoy, but is dangerous for her career and his infamous ability to make it into the tabloids.

Carson has her own demons that are shoved down her throat constantly by her father who also happens to be her boss. She's vying for the spot of top designer in the family company against a sleeze who has her father wrapped around his finger. The main strike against Carson is her wild-child days as a motorcycle street racer...she has a lot in common with Neil.

This was an interesting premise for this particular story. I don't think I've ever read about street racing on motorcycles so I enjoyed that aspect. I also liked the whole back story for Carson and how that all ties to the demons that Neil is fighting. While the overall story arcs aren't anything new (tortured hero, heroine looking for daddy approval), I enjoyed the way that this one was told and laid out. I love the deal between the two to use sex as an adrenaline rush/distraction. And of course, it's a romance so they find themselves much more involved than they ever planned. There's a scene with teenagers that I found especially sweet just in the insight it provided about the background of Neil's character for Carson.

I love these four brothers and what they stand for. I always enjoy chef themed stories, but this whole premise is especially good. I highly recommend this series. I've only read the first two so far, but they've been great and I plan to read #3 next. Love the Madewood brothers and how they've overcome their obstacles in life just through a little love from one amazing lady.

Take One speed junkie with a gruff personality and a tendency to safeguard his emotions, mix in a workaholic with a no-nonsense attitude and a troubled past and you get the perfect ingredients for the second book in Gina Gordon's Madewood Brothers series, Recipe for Attraction. The eldest of the four adopted Madewood brothers, Neil Harrison, and his love interest, Carson Kelly III, energize the story with their sizzling chemistry, engaging in a romance of convenience with the possibility of something more.
Neil and Carson are two stubborn individuals with Type A personas who can't be in the same room with each other without entering into a verbal sparring match. What’s surprising is how much they have much in common despite their noticeable differences, which only serves to deepen their emotional connection. Although their attraction is longstanding, readers are swiftly thrust into their whirlwind romance, which starts out as a purely physical, no-strings-attached pseudo-relationship based on Carson’s instinctual need to protect Neil from getting hurt.

Going in to the book, I knew little about Neil, but by the end, I had a better understanding of him and his adopted brothers. Neil is like the anchor of the family, maintaining a strong façade for his brothers after his mother's passing, but falling apart on the inside. I was immediately drawn to Carson’s independent nature with hints of vulnerability, but it took me a bit longer to warm up to Neil, who’s previously been portrayed as stern and standoffish. Carson is Neil’s perfect counterpart because she’s the only one to see past the illusion and release his tightly-coiled emotions and unveil a different side of him.

What I loved best about Recipe for Attraction is the character development, not just for the main protagonists but also for the supporting characters. There were hidden facets to every character and I enjoyed learning more about every individual… except perhaps Stuart. The two remaining Madewood brothers also have their prospective romances established, giving readers a glimpse of future books in the series. While each book can be read as a standalone romance, I love following the progress of each relationship throughout the series, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Neil and Carson.

Recipe for Attraction is the second book in Gina Gordon’s Madewood Brothers Series, but it is completely standalone. I so want to say that you have to read the first book, Recipe for Satisfaction, because I really liked it and the characters are just fabulous. Anyway....

I have never regretted not being able to meet (sorry, read about) a character more than Vivian Madewood. She was a wealthy socialite, who late in life took in four troubled teenage boys who were in the foster care system. As a single parent, she managed to turn the troubled, often bad boys into responsible men who all became chefs and worked towards continuing her vision of philanthropy. The Madewood Brothers Series is about the four brothers dealing with the loss of their beloved mother way too soon due to breast cancer, trying to overcome their past demons, and unexpectedly finding the women of their dreams.

Recipe for Attraction, for lack of a better word, is intense. From the pain older brother Neil Harrison has endured without his mother to the sexual chemistry between Neil and architect Carson Kelly III. From the beginning, you get drawn into Neil’s destructive new hobby that he turns to when he gets lonely and uses as an outlet for his pain. To his surprise, Carson shows up and offers him a different outlet, one he can’t refuse.

To both of their surprise, what was supposed to be just a little fun quickly became so much more than they ever expected. They each let the other in on their past, which they never talk about to anyone. They’re able to learn from each other and grow with each other. When the chips are down, they will do whatever it takes to make sure the other is okay.

When I try to think of something not to like about this book, I have a really hard time. Neil and Carson are great characters, as well as Neil’s brothers (Finn, Cole and Jack), who are around to poke at Neil and let him know what an idiot he is at times. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Recipe for Attraction has all the perfect ingredients for a sexy hot captivating read. If you thought Jack was delectable in Recipe for Satisfaction, then wait until you get acquainted with Neil. Oooooooph (That is literally the sound I made whilst appreciating him).

The eldest of the four brothers, Neil is very sexy in a brooding, serious, determined way and likes to be in control. But his unhappy childhood has left him with understandable insecurities which have resurfaced following his foster Mum's death. His coping mechanism - illegal street racing. Carson is the architect working on the Madewood's latest project which Neil is heading up. I loved her; she's feisty, has guts, see's straight through him and calls him on his crap. My kind of woman. She has more than one reason for not wanting him to race but he needs something to ease his anxiety. So they compromise and one urge is replaced with another...

Their horizontal (& vertical) activities will leave you in a puddle on the floor. Their chemistry was perfect and brings plentiful page-burning heart-fluttering sexy content. But alongside it, Gina Gordon has brought us a story that is so easy to read, romantic (but not in a sappy way), has some real surprises and frustrates yet pulls on your heartstrings. I laughed, smiled, swooned and sighed my way through this fabulous sexy journey and can't wait for Finn and Cole's time to come. I love the banter and wit between these guys, I love their family dynamic and their obvious love for one another and you simply can't not fall in love with them.

It's every woman's dream to have a guy who is hot in the kitchen and the bedroom. Needless to say I definitely recommend reading.

There is just something about a sexy chef now throw in a dash a bad boy and you've got yourself a yummy combination.

Those Madewood brothers are quite the misunderstood, broken and needing love type of men with success and looks to boot.

For Neil he has always been the most fierce and driven out of the brothers. With his drive for success he also has a need for extreme feelings of adrenaline to fill a void in his life which he didn't even know existed.

For Carson Kelly she understands Neil more than any one but can't let her feelings for him ruin her career. Until Neil's safety is on the line than Carson will do anything to keep him safe.

The story had chemistry, passion, steamy kitchen scenes, angst and love.

I liked the story and it did keep me roped in but I didn't love it. I can't put my finger on what was missing for me. But all in all I do love the Madewood boys and will be continuing to read this series and find out what happens with the other brothers.

This is book 2 in Madewood brothers series and this time it's Neil's story.

Neil is a chef just like his foster brothers, thanks to his foster mother. His busy building a new project The Farm, a restaurant, shopping area and events area. Luckily he has a good architect to oversea the project Ms Carson Kelly.

Neil is a little bit more interesting than just a chef though, his tattooed and a biker and likes to race them - he likes the danger. Now where would he see his sexy architect, not at a bike race surely!!

This is a story of an alpha male meeting an alpha female, and yes I know, there not paranormal at all!! I loved Carson, she had no qualms about enjoying sex with Neil, she stood her own ground well. Neil is domineering but loves being called out by Carson as they spend time together.

No love story runs smoothly and when trouble springs up, will it pull them together or force them apart??

Jack the brother from book one along with the other brothers make appearances in this book, setting up a future story, maybe??

A good read with strong willed characters, with lots of hot sex too!

There are some books that are difficult to review – this is one of them. It is my first novel by Gina Gordon and she did made a remarkable first impression. The Madewood brothers are a fascinating bunch; each has just a dash of charisma blended with ALL those other alpha characteristics I love. Therefore, I immediately added Recipe for Satisfaction, Recipe for Seduction, and Recipe for Temptation to my must read list. This is a fast paced read…and the author worked it just the right amount of sexy moments. Outstanding, adrenaline-fueled read.

Hot, hot HOT! Carson she's so smart-mouthed and I loved it, "a girl can't take a midnight ride and stumble upon an illegal street race where people almost die every night?" And Neil he's such a naughty boy, "not bad," he corrected. "Determined. I'm going to race or you're going to distract me. It's as simple as that." He's such a horny little thing, "hell no. I wanted to talk about the fact that I've been thinking about you lying on top of that table all morning and how much I want to do it again." You never question why a woman grooms certain parts of her body it's rude and you might not get the answer you want, "yes, I did it for me, you jerk." She panted. Short, shallow breaths. "It has nothing to do with the fact that I want your mouth on me." I loved this book it was sweet, spicy, and a whole lot of naughty.

Recipe for Attraction (Madewood Brothers #2)

Expected publication: November 25th 2013 by Entangled: Brazen

The review for the first volume of the series can be read HERE

Bad boy Neil Harrison may have sexy body and an even sexier smile, but there’s no way in hell architect Carson Kelly is falling for the elusive bachelor. For starters, he’s her boss, and getting intimately involved with the infuriating alpha male could be a career-killer. And secondly, he’s battling personal demons in one of the most dangerous ways possible: illegal street racing. After a friend’s tragic death years ago, Carson swore she’d never get involved in that life again.

Neil knows Carson’s keeping secrets and he’s determined to uncover all of them…even if he has to seduce them out of her. But as their antagonistic work relationship ignites a passionate affair, Carson must decide if protecting Neil from his need for speed is the perfect outlet for her own restless desire, or if they’re on a one-way path to destruction

“Unless you want this night to end, you’ll hop on, Harrison.” She cocked her head, inviting him over. “I won’t bite.” Neil laughed low in his throat. “You better cover up that neck, honey because I just might.”

She turned away. It was too hard looking at him. “Carson, don’t leave.” “Here we are again. One of us asking the other to stay.” She looked over her shoulder right into his eyes. “But will you give me what I want?”

My thoughts (Theo~): I have had received an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts about this
book!

I would love to be able to start
with something simple, easy and soft, but how can I when this book simply made
my day? Okay, I recognise that I have had finished it in three hours from the
exact moment when I’ve received it! What can I say, I’ve fell in love with the
amazing work of Mrs. Gordon last year and I know her talent when it comes to
amazing work!

So, without further ads on I would
like to tell you more about the characters and the story:

Carson Kelley III is an ordinary architect ready to face the world and take over her
father’s firm of architecture. She is stubborn, a real challenge and someone
you can count on when you need a shoulder to cry on! She is someone smart and
even though she gives the idea of someone who has never confronted life before,
she is actually one of the survivors!

She is full of secrets and her own
demons are lurking right behind the corner ready to take you down! But her
heart is pure...

Neil Harrison
is one of the Madewood brothers! Smart, charismatic, sex-on-legs, ready to take
you to bed, but insincere when it comes to his past and his future.

He is someone you can count on, but
he will not let you to become a part of him! He can destroy you, yet make you
smile all the same!

The tension between these two is
almost too much!

The story :
everything begins with the need of racing that takes possession of Neil one
night! He is ready to start the race, the “flag” almost down, when one pair of
long legs and long black hair appears out of nowhere, already on a first-base name
with the illegal-racer and owner of the race Diaz! He is not sure of her evolvement
and is not ready to dig that out yet, but when she starts shouting at him for
being so reckless he loses it! He takes off in the race, wins it and come back
to reclaim a prize that was never his to begin with!

But at the same time the kiss melts
them both! They realise that the past year has been pure torture for both of
them, so they decide the obvious: don’t race, have sex with me instead!

Carson is mature enough to know not
to fall for the broken boy; she is ready to take up on any offer he has, just
to be able to be with him, but he is her employer and she is his employee! Something
can or might go bad! And it will!

Carson is as “legal” as they come,
but her illegal past make her realise all the future mistakes Neil is about to
do and tried her best to help him out! But when your own father is trying to
make you feel as miserable as ever about anything that you do, or when the one
your father loves keep coming back at you even though you hate him with all
your force, she is as bound to failure as he is!

They do not regret anything, but
time and people have a tendency to destroy or be destroyed! They do not
recognise their own feelings, they struggle with the inevitable, and they
destroy themselves only to build themselves piece by piece!

Once you’ve been broken you know how
broken feels like and you are doomed to not repeat that mistake again. And again.

I’ve loved this book for the easy
readying that kept me going even though I was really tired! I’ve fell in love
with the characters because I was both of them. I have my past, but now I am
doubtful about my future. I do not have a Carson in my life, neither am I a
Neil, but I am struggling with my own problems. I was able to get them because I
was them. Young and not ready to let go, yet mature enough to unwrap my own
hand from my past.

I recommend this book to anyone
looking for a little bit of complicated, for those of you whom just love some
leather on a girl ready to ride her bike, for those of you that have a thrill every
time someone puts the gas pedal down on a bike! I hope you will enjoy their
lives as much as I did. I hope you will see their struggle or feel it, because
this is all about in this life: you either struggle or you either die trying.

Happy readying everyone~!

“So that’s my story.” It was a lot more than he had planned on disclosing. “And now that I know your secrets, I understand the architecture dream.” She shrugged. “That is the dream.” She didn’t sound very convincing. “You don’t love it?” He didn’t know what he would do if he couldn’t cook anymore. If the restaurant business was not a part of his life. “On the contrary, I do love it.” Her thumbnail picked at the counter top. “It’s just not fun anymore.”

Same complaint

You must be wondering why I am complaining with 4 Stars and a recommendation as a must read. It goes like this ......the ending or lack thereof. The author rushes it all in the last pages and leaves a distinct sour taste. The story is good, the characters well fleshed out, a little light on back stories, but okay and then comes the light at the end of the tunnel and instead of it blazing it is foggy! Would be very interested to know how you feel after reading it.

I guess this book is one of the few books from Blaze Romance that I didn't really connect with. I don't really feel the 'blazing' chemistry from between characters like I always did every time I read Blaze novels. I also didn't really feel the tension nor the drama. ><
I enjoyed the writing though, but maybe I just didn't feel it. Look forward to read more because I'm not giving up yet.

This followup to Recipe for Satisfaction , Gina Gordon's first book in this series, brings us an amped-up level of hotness and characters for us to flail over, and definitely does not disappoint.

I loved Jack and Sterling but might love Neil and Carson even more. It's a toss-up.

Chef and entrepreneur Neil Harrison is also a dare-devil illegal street-racer, something he would prefer that no one ever find out about, especially his architect, Carson Kelly.
He'd wanted her from the very first day she rode up to the Madewood farm on her bike. But he'd pushed his desire aside not only because she was his architect, but because he didn't have time to deal with this particularly infuriating woman. From their first meeting, Carson Kelly was a ball-breaking hard-ass.

When she confronts him at a race, he realizes just what he needs to distract him from dangerous the thrill of racing.
"There's only one thing that will keep my mind off the track...and I don't think you're up for that challenge."

"Are you daring me to have sex with you?" The smile that spread across her face told himm she wasn't displeased with him. "You're bad."

"Not bad," he corrected. "Determined. I'm going to race or you're going to distract me. It's a simple as that."

And distract him she does.

I really liked the characters in this book. Both of them have pasts to work through and both of them are realistic. Carson is sexy and snarky and stands up for what she believes in. She doesn't let Neil push her too far, and she knows her limitations. Neil is tortured by his past demons and wants to live up to the memory of his adoptive mother. I loved him, though, especially when he said stuff like this:
"I want what I want. And I want you. Right now, on this desk."

Their chemistry was off the charts.
"And what is it exactly that you like?" she challenged, stroking him through his slacks.

He leaned in and whispered against her ear. "That sexy mouth of yours wrapped around my cock."

For a second time, her insides fluttered. He definitely knew how to get her heart rate going double time. "But you don't even know what that feels like."

His response was a kiss, his mouth descending upon hers hard and fast. It caused her hard hat to fall off her head.

He pulled away and stopped the kiss by biting her bottom lip between his straight white teeth. "I'm going to find out what it feels like right now."

They're so hot together. And there's a scene in here that makes me want to buy every book ever written by Gordon and read them all rtfn.

You know me--there are a few things that I didn't love. I thought that they were in a few, ahem, compromising situations that I find it hard to believe that someone as driven as Carson would allow herself to get swept away in. Admittedly, she thinks the same thing herself so I guess that's all good. I felt like the dude Carson's dad wants her to be with was a total slime-ball and didn't get what was coming to him. I also felt that the end was a little abrupt.

One thing that I did love, though, is seeing Sterling and Jack so happy and in love, so Recipe for Satisfaction lovers will really enjoy seeing them again.

I loved this book--the characters, the steam, the story. I think you'll really love it too, and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 ⭐️

As an outlet for a recent loss and old demons toying with his peace of mind, Madewood heir and chef Neil Harrison blows off steam on his bike. When women and sex don't do the trick anymore, he turns to illegal street racing. Something he has been able to keep to himself, until Carson shows up at one of his races.

Architect Carson Kelly is employed by Neil, building the Madewood Farm, a fine dining and event establishment on a gorgeous ten-acre property. Despite the obvious attraction, her relationship with Neil has always been rather confrontational. She has to be tough to prove herself in a male dominated world, especially after making some pretty devastating mistakes when she was younger. Her father, and owner of Kelly Designs, never let her forget.

Which is exactly why she was there at the street race, trying to stop Neil from making the same stupid mistakes. Neil is intrigued with Carson's no bullshit attitude, not to mention the whole biker chick persona, but senses there is more at play here and is determined to find out more. When the two embark on a passionate affair, supposedly to distract Neil from the need to race they both put their professional lives in the scale.

Before long family entanglements, personal insecurities and professional exposure catch up with Carson and Neil and their 'involvement' has become more involved than either of them had planned on.

*****

A short VERY spicy and compelling read!!

The story hits the floor running. Right off the bat you jump into a backstory you have to catch up with, and you will.......give it a bit of time. I actually love stories that throw you right in the middle of the action, rather than slowly setting the scene.....this one, you get thrown in the deep end, so to speak. It keeps you engaged right from the start.

It does mean that the characters are further along in their connection with each other than you may be ready for, but you have to allow for that in this type of set up. The context for each of the protagonists, and my connection with and understanding of them came eventually.

For a relatively short story, each of the characters was well fleshed out. Neil obviously has fear, self esteem and trust issues, which are not surprising given his background. Believing you are deserving of something can be difficult to get your head around. Carson was fighting a losing battle, she could never become the son she thinks her father would have preferred, no matter how hard she strives to be the best Alpha she can be. She has to learn to fight for herself, for her own approval and love, not others'.

Interesting about the dynamic between the two characters is the juggling for dominance at times. With Carson trying so hard to be seen and heard in a man's world, she has taken on a lot of the traits of a traditional Alpha and Neil is instinctively one, which makes for some fiery encounters.

This was actually a story I would not have minded seeing spread out a little longer.....over more pages. I think there was still some room for exploration!!

And what is it, about a hot and dominant man who knows his way around the kitchen that makes my panties melt???

✨A charged, provocative and lip-licking good read!!✨

Neil is the oldest of the Madewood brothers and as such he's always felt it's his job to look out for the rest of the family. He's struggling to cope with the death of their foster mother but he doesn't want to burden any of the others with his problems when he knows they're finding things just as difficult. Although he is focusing on building his new restaurant he needs a way to blow off steam and that has come in the form of illegal street racing, speeding on his bike gives him a sense of freedom and helps him momentarily forget about all of his problems. Carson is the architect working on the new restaurant, she knows all about the dangers of street racing and she is worried for Neil's safety when she finds out what he is up to. She has been attracted to him for months so she offers him a no strings attached fling telling him that every time he feels the urge to race he should come to her instead. Carson may have a dark past but she's spent years trying to rebuild her reputation and get her father to respect her again so the last thing she needs are rumours of her affair with Neil getting out - sleeping with her client is not the way to get respect in her industry. Can they keep their time together separate or will Carson lose everything because she tried to help Neil?

Recipe for Attraction is the second book in the Madewood Brothers series and just like the first it is full of plenty of hot sex! Neil and Carson have fantastic chemistry so even though I'm not a fan of the way their fling started I enjoyed seeing them spending time together. The story starts with Neil at a street race so I expected the racing to play a more prominent role in the story and was disappointed when we don't see much of that side of things. I loved the idea of Neil as a badass, tattooed biker and wanted more of that side of him. I also would have liked a better explanation about why he got into racing in the first place, I found it hard to believe that he would be able to give it up so quickly if it was something that he really felt that he needed to do and I ended up just thinking he was being selfish by putting his life at risk for no real reason.

In general I liked Carson, I was annoyed at the way her father pushed her around and was glad to see her finally stand up for herself towards the end of the book. I do think the reasons he gave for treating her so badly were a bit flimsy though and the story could have been improved if there was more time spent on the confrontation. I liked the way Neil was so happy to give his time to his mother's charitable foundation but I found he could be a bit too bossy and overbearing towards his brothers. There were a few moments when he reminded me of a five year old throwing a temper tantrum because he couldn't have what he wanted immediately too and I have to say that isn't something I find attractive in a man. I liked him most of the time and he certainly knows his way around a bedroom (or kitchen worktop LOL) but he wasn't my favourite hero ever.

Both of the books in this series have been quick, fun reads with plenty of sexy scenes and nice characters. I really love the remaining two brothers (Cole and Finn) so I have high hopes for their books. If you're looking for a short and steamy story then it would definitely be worth giving this series a try.

Sizzle and Burn Madewood Style

Oh those Madewoods... if you've read RECIPE FOR SATISFACTION then you know exactly what I mean. It's as if one day Gina just decided to put the hottest qualities into a quartet of heroes and instead of it being ridiculous, it's glorious. Wealthy. Check. Handsome. Check. Tattooed... triple check. Can cook... oh yeah, check. Pepper in some sad childhood issues, a dash of charitable responsibility, then add a pinch of minor celebrity and these guys are a category romance reader's wet dream. If you thought Jack was hot, wait until you open RECIPE FOR ATTRACTION and get a taste of Neil.

Of the four adoptees Vivian Madewood took in, you'd think Neil would have been the least troubled by her death. He's the smooth, unspoken leader of the family. The one who most seems to have his stuff together. Underneath his calm façade of control he's anything but and the emotions he's trying to bury are finding ways to manifest in dangerous behavior. Illegal street racing is an easy way to trash a bike and a really bad way to die. Carson Kelly knows first hand how dangerous it is, so when she finds out her sexy boss is risking his life for an adrenaline rush she refuses to let him throw his life away.

At work they're just two professionals putting the finishing touch on a Madewood family dream but whenever his demons start to rise Carson is there to sate them with a much less life threatening distraction. But Neil isn't the only one with secrets. When their passionate affair evolves into more than just a balm for their emotional wounds and threatens to ruin her career they'll have to decide if love isn't the most dangerous distraction of all.

Okay, so here's the thing... I hated the premise. I really dislike the whole I'll-save-you-from-yourself-with-sex thing. I especially hate that Carson put herself into a situation where she was basically a willing sex slave to Neil and it made me really dislike him that he would go for it. Ugh. Just ugh! And yet, as much as I disliked it, there was a certain truthfulness to it. I could easily see real people putting themselves into that kind of circumstance. Because let's face it, sex can be about anything.

Then there's the sex. OMFG the seeeex. Not a lot of authors can make me blush the way I did reading RFA. I will never be able to go into a walk-in fridge again without thinking of this book. Heck, I may never be able to eat in a restaurant again after RFA. Neil and Carson almost set my ereader ablaze. Naughty, naughty!

Once I got past hating on the trope and kinda wanting to beat the crap out of Neil (I think I saw too much of myself in him to not wanna give him a what-for) this was a good read. I'm still not sold on Cole but after seeing more of he and Finn I am so antsy for Finn's story, RECIPE FOR SEDUCTION. If you love a smoldering read that's high tension and has just the right amount of tropey fluff be sure and make sure this series hits your shelves pronto. If you need more Madewood love be sure and find Gina on Pinterest where she has inspiration boards for each book that are sure to inspire you to read them.

Book 2 in the Madewood Brothers series, RECIPE FOR ATTRACTION, starts off with an adrenaline rush and leaves you in an erotic haze by the end.

In the months after his adoptive mother died, Neil Harrison has found himself at loose ends and out of control. He can't seem to reign himself in no matter how hard he tries, and Neil has found himself craving the rush that illegal street racing gives him. Architect Carson Kelly is totally annoyed by the spoiled rich boy who can't get his crap together, but when she finds out, he's been joining the illegal street racing ring she was once intimately involved with, she gets scared to death. Carson can't allow another person she cares about to go down that same path, even if she'll never admit how much she actually does care.

Neil has pictured his architect naked since the day she walked onto his project, but when she offers to provide him with the distractions he needs to keep him away from racing, he can't wait to see just how serious she is. Neither expects anything other than blazing hot sex from their new relationship, but when Neil realizes how at peace he feels with Carson by his side, he thinks it may be time to consider that he's met "the one." But Carson's architect father is furious about her involvement with a client, and now she's got to make some very tough decisions.

RECIPE FOR ATTRACTION is book 2 in the Madewood Brothers series by the talented Ms. Gordon. While I highly recommend reading all the books in this awesome series, each of them can be enjoyed as a standalone. First, I have to say that I loved how this book kicked off, I've never really read anything about a street racing ring, illegal or not, and it was a fun and different way (for me) to start a romance novel. Carson is simply awesome, a badass architect with an excellent personality and the ability to not get snowed by the hot guy she's working with. Yea, she's attracted to him, but she calls him out on his shit and doesn't back down from his challenges, which totally intrigues him. I liked the contrast between this tomboy chick and the sexual dynamo she became when under Neil. I didn't anticipate her character being vocal and kinky and a little raunchy at times and I loved it.

Neil was such a damaged man and I really felt for his character and how much affection and caring that he'd never admit he needed. He goes through life steamrolling people, making the decisions like the big brother he is, but until Carson comes along, he feels completely adrift and out of control and worthless despite his bravado. Their chemistry is excellent and I read their banter and affection with delight. RECIPE FOR ATTRACTION is a sexy and sweet read that will have you wishing for just one more Madewood brother to go around!

I'd been waiting for this book ever since I read and loved Recipe for Satisfaction, and this one definitely did not disappoint! I adored these characters and the sweet but intense plotline, and I managed to devour this book all in one go. That's how addictive it was! So don't start this book at night, it'll keep you up for hours until you finish it.

Recipe for Attraction follows the oldest Madewood brother, Neil. I remember him from the first book, and knew that there would be something between him and Carson! I'm glad to be proven right in this book. Neil loves speed, especially in racing. But when he goes to an illegal street race and meets his architect Carson there, he knows there's something about her she's keeping from him. And he strives to find out who she is. At the same time, Carson will do anything to keep Neil away from the dangers of illegal racing. The two of them come to an agreement, which turns out to be a lot more complicated than they initially thought.

I first thought that the sequel to Recipe for Satisfaction might be Cole and Penn's book, but theirs is the fourth installment in the series. I was really looking forward to reading about them, but I love Neil and Carson just as much. The street racing part reminds me a little of Crash into You by Katie McGarry, which I thought was awesome.

I warmed to Carson immediately. She's snarky and badass and she rides a bike! And she definitely doesn't let anyone walk all over her. She's stubborn like that. But her dad will never be satisfied with her, and I really empathized with her whenever that came up. Carson wants to prove her worth, and she's working hard to do that. But Neil comes along and suddenly her professional life is mixing with her personal life. It's obvious how much she cares for Neil throughout the book, even right from the start.

And Neil, oh my god I loved him. He's my new favourite Madewood brother. Though he seemed kind of obnoxious in the first book, we really get to know him in this one and everything he's been through. He's gorgeous and protective and kind, and Carson is so freaking lucky to have him. Neil has feelings for Carson pretty early on as well, and I found it amusing how neither of them would admit it until much, much later.

Needless to say, I can't wait for the next installment in this richly romantic and seductive series. Neil and Carson took over my mind for a while, and I can't wait for the same to happen with Finn next, and then Cole. Recipe for Attraction is a can't-miss for all Brazen lovers, and romance lovers in general too!

Recipe for Attraction by Gina Gordon is an original, action-oriented emotional romance that I liked very much. The novel centers around smart and sexy architect Carson Kelly, and her client, wealthy chef and restaurant owner Neil Harrison. Carson works for her father's small architectural firm, and is in charge of designing and constructing Madewood Farm, Neil's state-of-the art banquet facility which includes a five-star restaurant, rustic reception space and a unique family picnic area that incorporates farm animals and hayrides. This huge project has necessitated a special professional relationship between Carson and Neil. Although they are like oil and water, they find each other extremely attractive and a slow, simmering burn is ready to explode.

Illegal street racing has become Neil's pastime of choice in order to muzzle his strangling thoughts and demons that are constantly taking up space in his mind. Carson's previous experience with this extremely dangerous sport causes her to step in and offer Neil a sexual outlet for his need for danger. Overtime, their hot, sexual relationship evolves into much more.

This novel is an exciting roller coaster ride that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. Carson and Neil are real and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. With the exception of Martin Connelly, Carson's nemesis, the secondary characters are likeable, interesting, and have their own stories which are just waiting to be told. Ms. Gordon does a nice job of creating an unconventional romance with a traditional ending.

I was given this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Recipe for Attraction is another solid read from Brazen. If you love contemporary romance with heat, then this is definitely the book for you.

We meet Carson and Neil. They work together. Now if you know me, I love a book with a workplace romance. Only that’s where this author tricks you. This isn’t really a workplace romance at all. They actually find their connection over…wait for it…illegal street racing.

Ummm.

What?

And I can’t lie. I was honestly surprised by this. A.) Because I’ve never read a romance novel about illegal street racing. B.) Because how hot does that actually sound. And C.) Neil was hot and sexy…and hot.

There’s a lot in this book I really liked. I enjoyed Carson. I found her relatable and I do enjoy a heroine with secrets in her past. It added a layer to this story that was welcomed. And I enjoyed the way her feelings for Neil were something she couldn’t really control. Even though she really fought against them. There’s something about the kind of connection you just can’t fight.
And I love a tortured hero. It’s one of my favorite things. I love the idea of a man who is willing to fight his demons for the love of a good woman. And that’s exactly what I got with this book.

Fans of contemporary romance will thoroughly enjoy this, but if you like romance with an edge, this might also be the book for you. It was an easy read, and once I got into the story, I found that didn’t put it down until the end.

This is my first book by Gina Gordon, but I’ll definitely be checking out more of her stuff.

A solid, enjoyable read.
