Wall Street Journal bestselling author SJ Scott wanted to be Luke Skywalker when he grew up.
Unfortunately his complete lack of physical grace and introverted mannerism's kept the earth from having their own Jedi Knight to battle the Sith menace.
Steve “SJ” Scott was born and raised in New Jersey. After finishing college with a degree in psychology he knew he needed to further his education or work on his latte making skills.
During a short stint in US Air Force, Scott was able to get his Master’s in business and then moved on to conquer the business world.
Scott then spent a couple of years working for a company not unlike the company depicted in Mike Judge’s film, “Office Space”. After doing his share of “TPS” reports, Scott swore he would never work for anyone but himself.
He spent the next few years making this happen. Making a decent living online and eventually pivoting to writing books, blogging and even podcasting.
Scott has written over 30 books, most of them in the "self-improvement" genre. An area that he is personally passionate about.
His books have been published in 12 different languages. So he is well on his way to world domination. However, in his heart of hearts he knows he will soon have to venture out into the universe and defeat the Sith menace.
This was a very short "guide" to beginning and maintaining a walking habit for both fun and fitness. It's a Kindle book so the nice thing about it is that it has lots of good clickable links to websites and articles that the author cites in the book.
It's a quick, easy and enjoyable read with solid tip and recommendations on how to begin and maintain a good walking habit that averages about 10,000 steps a day. For me, it was a good incentive to begin an exercise routine that won't break the bank with lots of fancy and expensive equipment or a requirement to be super fit already.
S J Scott outlines the way to begin the walking habit. He begins by explaining the origins of the idea of 10,000 steps a day leads to health. He then explains what to look for in walking shoes.
He outlines a seven step strategy to make walking a habit. A section of obstacles and possible solutions is given. At the end of the book is a chapter containing stretches.
Super quick read. A pretty basic primer on starting a walking habit. Not anything earth shattering. Pretty simple newbie info, albeit a little dated (pedometers and obviously well before smart watches!!)
I'm so upset that I spent money on this.Perhaps it would be good for someone brand new to walking, but I can't see it helping anyone else. It tells you how to pick out shoes, how to walk safely, how to warm up and other things. Actually, the part about stretching is now obsolete. So, unless you're spanking brand new to walking, just save your money and use your common sense.
ANother home run from SJ Scott. A great book that helps my walking routine. It was syncronicity, I was just looking for a book on walking as I started up this habit and lo and behold an author I like, respect and trust had a new book on the topic. Good Stuff and a worthwhile read for anyone who is contemplating walking Routine
