They can’t deny their passionate attraction, but can their love survive their secrets?
Starting out as an accountant in line with the rest of the corporate echelons struggling up the proverbial ladder, I soon realized the long nights and numerous weekends of closing books and reporting financial results no longer appealed. So, I decided to hit the road selling financial software. Jumping from one high-pressured frying pan into the other, the stress of the road-warrior life and constant deadlines took its toll. I needed a release and found that with my face buried in historical romance books, I could escape to worlds of intrigue with timeless love and happily-ever-after-endings. Today, I am fortunate to have found my true passion in writing of spirited heroines and to-die-for-heros and the romantic love stories between them.
I am a southern girl living on top of a mountain in North Georgia, and I’m most happy when surrounded by family and friends. If I am not writing, you can find me hiking with my husband, or fiddling around in my flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the birds and watching black bears and deer. I am blessed to have a wonderful son—my pride and joy, my buddy who, along with my husband, have made my life complete.

Heather, the second book in The Daughters of Alastair MacDougall series, is my second read by Lane McFarland. I will admit I am now hooked on the series, having read the first two books. Both were ebooks I won as a gift from Ms. McFarland and I offer this voluntary and unsolicited review.
Heather, the older sister of Cameron from book 1, is strongly independent, dedicated to taking care of her clan and father. She also aides the clan men in raids on the English troops King Edward sends into Scotland. Alec Campbell assists the MacDougalls when a nasty cousin, expelled from the clan, attacks and almost overruns the holding. What follows is a delightful, slow-growing romance between the two characters.
Alec is determined to do all he can to protect Heather. There is great chemistry between them, but she wishes to remain independent and is reluctant to reveal kept secrets. I like how the author wove into the story the unrest going on in Scotland at that time. The dialogue was strong and the action depicted was very believable. There was some heat between the H and h but not overdone. All in all, a very good read. Now, on to the next in series.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: it was steamy, action-packed, wonderful characters, romantic, entertaining, and a page-turner.
Another 5 star review for this talented author! This is the second book in this series and the second 5 star review from me! This author has a uncanny ability to make you feel as if you know these characters personally! She describes them so well that you understand their feelings about the circumstances they are facing...great romance..great drama. ..great book!
I loved Heather and her fighting spirit. I love reading about strong women and having them in some way part of the fight along side the men. And Alec acted like a typical man and can't see women understand more then men credit them with. But he can around. Loved reading this book and can't wait to start the next.
