Kylie steps in for her twin sister as a stripper so that they don’t end up homeless due to lack of money. Her first night she gives a lap dance to Trevor McCade, hot LA detective. Then she finds a body and she ends up spending alot more time with Trevor, trying to keep up her ruse. Then, smutty hot romance happens.

The smut is strong with this one
: Whatever other flaws there may be with this plot (more on that later), there is nothing wrong with the smoking hot stripping and sex scenes: I like Ms. Beck’s writing and Kylie and Trevor’s sexual chemistry is steamy. When she strips for him? Well, I was saying, what story? Give me more of that. Unfortunately….

Smut can only go so far
: My main issues with this story is the plotline of Kylie faking being her twin. While it was a novel idea at first, it truly drags on for longer than it should, makes no sense when certain important lines are crossed, especially from Trevor’s perspective. Honestly, I think the story would have been stronger and more compelling if Kylie wasn’t the innocent stripper, but her sister, a woman who simply does what she needs to do to survive and comes to fall for her protector. It could have given the appropriate angst and avoided the major plotholes. As for the “mystery,” the killer is painfully obvious from the very beginning.
But um, did I mention hot smut? There’s that at least.
The Bottom Line (2.5 stars)
Super hot chemistry and great sex scenes can’t save an unfortunately dumb plot device. I usually like Ms. Beck’s writing, but this was a bit of a miss for me.
