The Outback Affair set in the Australian Outback and featuring an antagonistic romance was a story I was eager to sink into! Unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations.

Jessica flies out to Australia in hopes of snagging an interview with the elusive and much sought after Alessandro Ricardo. She feels this is her in to Cuisine magazine, kick-starting her career into journalism. She wants to get away from her current job, which she despises, and comes with strings attached to her rich and controlling father. Jess plans to weasel her way into an interview, however she can, keeping the fact that she’s journalist hidden until she corners Alessandro, and accomplishes her mission. She sucks at planning ahead and so she doesn’t realize, because of rough terrain, it’s very hard to get to the resort he is staying at. This is how she ends up at the mercy of Alex Richards an Aussie fisher and Outback expert, trailing through the dangerous Outback with him.

Alex is none other than Alessandro, a fact that he keeps hidden from Jess. He set the fake identity up to stay out of the limelight and keep his life private. He plans on teaching Jess a lesson in honesty, by taking her to the resort and then letting her be disappointed when she can’t find or interview Alessandro. Also, he relishes the fact that this city girl will experience some culture and comfort shock traversing through the unforgiving Outback.

I had high hopes for this story. I loved the idea of this story being set in the Australian Outback, the beauty and danger sounded like a thrilling setting, and it was to a certain extent, but I really thought there would be more danger, and adventure. Yet, that wasn’t my problem.

My main issue was with the development of Jess and Alex’s relationship. First of all I didn’t really care for Alex for most of the book. He kept going on about teaching Jess a lesson in honesty, yet he hides his identity for most of the book! Hypocritical if you ask me. Jess is nothing but a sweetheart to him and they do form a connection, but he keeps going back to being ticked that she’s trying to slip in and interview him. Which I didn’t find all that reprehensible, but maybe that’s just me. Also, both Jess and Alex have a painful history which factors heavily into their feelings for each other, yet neither one of them share their stories through the entire book. Their relationship was built basically on nothing but a superficial knowledge of each of other and an attraction I didn’t quite feel.

I did see other positive reviews for this story, so maybe it’s just me, so be sure to check them out before making your final decision.

Outback Affair is a sweet and at times funny romance story by Annie Seaton. Jessica Trent travelled from The United States to interview the recluse Mr Ricardo the manager director of a well knows Northern Territory Resort Bush Cooking School at Cockatoo Springs. However, on the way to the resort, Jessica met Alex Richards, a local fisherman and sparks flew between them. Jessica not knowing about the wet season in the Northern Territory needed to ask Alex to take her to Cockatoo Springs.

The readers of Outback Affair will enjoy the way Annie Seaton describes the trip to Cockatoo Springs and at times will not be able to stop laughing. The way Annie Seaton incorporated the Alex's English Staffy Bowser into the story was brilliant. All readers of Outback Affair will enjoy the conclusion of this book and wish it would happen to them.

Reading Outback Affair, readers will learn that keeping secrets does not always benefit the parties involved. However, it worked out in the end. I recommend this book.

REVIEW: OUTBACK AFFAIR is the third instalment in Annie Seaton’s contemporary, adult AFFAIR clean, romance series. This is American writer Jessica Trent, and Australian Alex Richards (aka chef Alessandro Ricardo’s) story line. OUTBACK AFFAIR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jessica and Alex) OUTBACK AFFAIR follows the building relationship between American ‘food’ writer Jessica Trent, and former lawyer, fisherman and chef Alex Richards aka Alessandro Ricardo. Hoping to garner an exclusive interview with the notorious Australia chef Alessandro Ricardo in Cockatoo Springs Resort in Australia, American writer Jessica Trent heads Down Under, ill-prepared for everything the Outback has to offer. Without hardy transportation or the proper clothing, Jessica will accept a ride from a stranger who happens to be heading in the same direction as our story line heroine. Enter Alex Richards, lawyer, fisherman and professional chef, and the man with whom Jessica will fall in love. What ensues is a comedy of errors as Jessica gets her first taste of the Australian Outback, and the potential fall-out when Jessica learns that the man with whom she is falling in love has been lying to her about his identity all along.

OUTBACK AFFAIR is a sweet and sexy romance between two people who keep secret the truth about the who, what and why. Upon meeting Alex, Jessica will lie about her reasons for heading to Cockatoo Springs; and Alex will lie about his true identity. Their quick building romance will falter when the truth is revealed, and Jessica is unwilling to live through another heartbreak that is sure to destroy her soul. The premise is endearing; the romance is cute and fun; the characters are colorful and charismatic.

Combine the Australian outback, a rugged bloke's bloke Aussie and a New York journalist better suited to the glitz and glamour of the city rather than crocs and billabongs, with banter, flirting, humour, a few secrets and you've got a book that will warm you up as the winter approaches.

Now, I've just discovered that this is the third book in the 'Affair' series. Not that it really mattered as it could easily be a standalone, but I love my Aussie men (all we British women do, I think it's genetic) and I need to find out whether the sexy charm is a Richards family trait. Because Alex? Oooo. He's all man; outdoorsy, to the point, tough man exterior but underneath is a protective gent who loves his dog. Jess is a determined strong lady, but is a bit out of her depth on the trail for her career changing article. She doesn't know he's her subject matter, he needs to keep it from her. Any way he can...

I loved them both. Opposites do attract and their banter was snarky, fun and flirty with a lot of sexual build up between them. But considering how it seemed to really be ramping it up towards it, there wasn't a great deal of sexy action; whilst it was a captivating read, I was a little disappointed. And I felt it ended a bit quick and certain elements seemed forgotten about. It was fitting, but I would've like a little more.

Nevertheless it was still a lovely book and, if you like a well-written romance, in a beautiful setting with a wonderful couple who have some fire about them, then this is one to read. I'll certainly be reading the previous books in the series.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher for an honest and unbiased opinion.

I have always loved a determined heroine and if there ever was a totally awesome one, it's Jessica Trent!
And we all know that impulsive actions sometimes when lucky, lead to awesome adventures.

Jessica is dead set on getting away from her current very unlikable miserable job and at the same time she will get her controlling father out of her hair.

She jets off to Australia and once there ends up having the time of her life with scrumptious you-have-stolen-my-heart Alex Richards.

The adventure is as much fun as it's 'this is so not what I signed up for' , only when it ends and Alex reveals the truth of his real identity it all comes crashing down and Jessica realizes this is one impulsive plan she will always regret, unless Alex can convince her to come back into his arms.

The main characters were beautifully written and both took my breath away. Annie Seaton has a unique talent at taking two completely opposite characters and weaving them, their emotions and heart-ships into perfect alignment.

I adored each and every part of this book. The backdrop settings were vividly described and blended in with the emotions of the characters so well, that the characters themselves very well could have been the backdrop without even speaking a single line!

I recommend this read for all fans of romance reads that transports you to a world or romance down under.

Jessica Trent is stuck in a job she hates; doing something she didn’t want to do with her journalism degree. Working at Cuisine magazine would be her dream come true, if only she could bag an interview with the elusive Alessandro Ricardo. Stuck in the Outback of Australia, she has to rely on a sexy, rugged fisherman to get her to her destination in one piece. Enter Alex Richards.

This book was perfect. The chemistry that flowed between Miss America and the Outback Hero was so intense. I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t wait to get to the end. From the way Alex tried everything in his power to keep her from finding out the truth about him, to the way she kept on trying to do her job, to the fantastic love scenes this book just flowed. In fact at one point I forgot I was reading and just had a movie playing in my head.

The two characters are such complete opposites, that it’s actually a huge surprise that they have so much chemistry. Jessica comes across as a bit of a snob, she really wants a manicure and she’s horrified by the idea of camping out in the Outback. Alex on the other hand is ready and prepared, it is quite clearly depicted by his “boy scout glove department.” From bug spray to condoms, you name it and he has it in there.

What really cracked me up was His Hotness himself up in tree in only his underwear.

”Oh my God! The water splashed as she slapped her hands on top of it. “I so wish I had my camera. I could write the best article about the Aussie outback and its heroes…in their underwear. Alex looked down at his Calvin Kleins. “You won’t find it so funny if the boar decides to settle his family in here for the night.”

All in all, this was a fantastic book, and it definitely prompted me to get more of Ms Seaton’s books.

Outback Affair Review

Chasing an exclusive interview with the elusive Alessandro Ricardo, Jessica Trent’s lack of organisational skills lands her in the middle of the outback instead of at the luxury Cockatoo Springs resort. Fisherman, Alex Richards, feels compelled to offer her a lift to the resort when he realises how unprepared she is to face the dangers of the outback. Having been blindsided by previous partners, neither is ready to trust their feelings for the other and both hide their real identities. But the journey through the Australian outback strips away the masks as their attraction grows.

Annie Seaton’s lush description brings the dramatic Australian outback to life. It is a place for honesty and Alex and Jess discover their very real attraction for one another during an overnight stay at one of the hidden gems of the country. The waterfall scenes are some of the loveliest and funniest I’ve read and will no doubt do much for tourism to the outback! Deft touches of humour make Alex a seriously hunky and desirable partner, but Jess, with her sassy mouth and courage in the face of all the outback (and Alex) throws at her will win your heart. They deserve their happy-ever-after when it finally arrives.

I have to say that I also love the wonderful secondary characters at the resort, Alex’s family and his friend, Mitch, whose story I would love to know too. Oh, and Bowser, Alex’s brindle Staffy dog is delightful. The scene at the heliport brought tears to my eyes. Annie Seaton’s writing is delicious but it is her wonderful characters that will draw you in time and again. They are real and honest and their witty repartee is completely engaging. You can read the stories of Alex’s gorgeous older brothers in Holiday Affair and Italian Affair too. This series has been wonderful.

Outback Affair was fun! Jess has just landed in Australia and is hoping to track down the mysterious Alessandro Ricardo for an interview. He runs a cooking school and she hopes to land a job at a cooking magazine, and being the first to get an interview with him would guarantee it. She just has to get there first, which means hitching a ride with local fisherman, Alex, across the Outback. Little does Jess know, but Alex is the man she's looking for and he'll do anything to keep her away from the resort.

Outback Affair has a variation of one of my favorite Romance tropes: stranded! Jess isn't the most organized person, so she really has no clue where she's going, how far it is, or how to get there. She's lucky that her BFF told her where the nearest town is, but it's still way out from where she needs to go. There's no way her rental car will make the drive, and it's too late to turn back and catch a flight. Now it's time for an adventure, complete with killer mosquitoes, emus, and wild boars! It was highly entertaining to see this city girl coming face to face with all kinds of dangerous creatures! It surely gets the adrenaline pumping, leading to some kissing (and more) under the stars!

Of course, Outback Affair does have to have a big fight at the end. Alex has been lying to Jess this entire time, leading her on. She just wants this interview so bad, and he wants her so bad! There was a bit of unnecessary drama involving Jess mistaking someone for someone else, which I didn't like or believe, since he had already told her who was coming to the resort. But it all works out in the end and no one gets eaten by a crocodile!

I haven't read the other books in the affair series so it was good that this can be read as a standalone. It has made me want to read those so they're going on my TBR list.

The story follows Jessica Van Lund aka Jessica Trent. She's working in a PR job she hates while writing freelance for Cuisine magazine. She knows there's a full time writing job open at Cuisine and is determined to get it. Her way in is by getting an interview with the elusive Alessandro Ricardo, the financier to the Cockatoo Resort. All she has to do is find him and convince him to talk. Easy right?

Alex Richards left his cushy lawyer job to become a fisherman. He came into some money following tragic events and used it to start the Cockatoo Resort. With the help of his friend Mitch, he's come up with the Alessandro character. While stranded on his way to the resort he runs into Jess. She tells him why she's really there and he decides to keep his friends close, and his enemies closer. Women have gone to insane lengths in the past to interview his alter ego, and he assumes she's just like them. He agrees to help get her to the resort, meanwhile sabotaging her every step of the way.

When I first started reading this I was a little weary of Jess' character. My original thought was "oh no, not another weak female". I liked that the story involved showing that she was so much tougher that either of them thought they were. I'll definitely continue reading any other books in the series. Now I've just got to decide which of the previous books I'm going to read first.

Jessica Trent is a very determined woman. She will get an interview with the elusive Alessandro Ricardo or die trying. She impulsively flies to Australia. Now she's stranded in the Outback. Alex Richards, a local fisherman, agrees to give her a ride to Cockatoo Springs where she can find her quarry. The time they spend together makes them intensely aware of each other, but Jess and Alex guard their hearts. They both have been hurt by past loves and they won't reveal their secrets to anyone. What happens when the truth is revealed? Annie Seaton has written a powerful romance. You feel the sexual attraction and intense emotions between Jess and Alex as well as their uncertainty and fear. The author makes you feel as if you are with them as they travel through the vast, desolate Outback. I wanted this couple to find their HEA. They deserve it. If you enjoy a hot romance and a second chance at love, don't miss Outback Affair. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

What a great Outback adventure! Jessica, a part-time freelance writer, is looking to write that "one" special article to land her the job of her dreams. The object of her article, the elusive Alessandro Ricardo, aka Alex Richards, managing director of the fancy Cockatoo Springs Resort, who, by the way, never gives interviews or takes pictures. Through a series of events, Jessica ends up driving through the Outback with Alex but she doesn't know that he's Alessandro. Their adventure brings them closer and he's always wondering how he'll prevent her from finding out who he really is. Take an adventure of your own and read this highly entertaining book to find out what happens between the sexy Aussie and the beautiful American.

My favorite part was the waterfall scene that had me laughing out loud. Annie Seaton is an amazing author and I can't wait to read more of her outstanding books.

Being a City Girl myself, I had to take a "double take" at Jessica's character and laugh! OMG! She was definitely in for the time of her life in the outback in her silk blouse. Her determination to finally be independent of her father and her upbringing really comes through as she decides to pursue to interview the elusive Alessandro. Her exchanges with Alex as they begin their version of the battle of the sexes is both amusing and enjoyable.

Alex is something else... valuing his privacy is so important, he forgets the mess he is making of the budding relationship with Jess. Only quick thinking, his mother, and turning the helicopter around saves the day. I really had fun reading this book!

PSSST!!! By the way, for those of you that interested, you will finally find out what the Aussie word "dinkum" means!

I so enjoyed my journey to love in Australia with the lead couple, "Miss America" and her "Outback Hero"! I was entranced in the first chapter, and my love for them kept strong the whole book. Kudos to Annie Seaton for her ability to make such likeable characters come to life. The sparks that flew, were visible! I love when polar opposites attract. Their journey to happily ever after was a romp, to say the least; fast paced, well-plotted, beautifully detailed settings and dialogue that will make you laugh out loud, or at least giggle softly to yourself. I will look for more from this talented author.

It was fun and a thoroughly enjoyable. Jess was a hoot, especially when she first met rude, smelly Alex and she’s practically rain drenched, when he moves her rental car because it was blocking his way so he can make his deliveries to the loading bay. You rooted for Alex and Jess to be a happy couple despite the fact that one of them is hiding a secret and it a really good reason. The supporting characters were just as fun and supportive. Janet was funny and his mother sensitive and protective and Bowser the dog was adorably cute. Definitely a delightful read you’ll enjoy.

Ms. Seaton saved the best for last. Of the three novels in the Affair trio, The Outback Affair is my favorite. Alex and Jess foray into the uncharted waters of trust is full of secrets. She has to decide is furthering her career worth risking her own happiness. He has to decide if falling in love is worth the risk of heartache. The secrets may be more treacherous than the terrain at their feet and the predators that litter their surroundings, but the complications are what adds to the mysterious dynamic of the almost tragic love affair.

Jessica Trent is one determined journalist, but in order to get the job of her dreams, she needs to get an interview with the reclusive Alessandro Ricardo. Travelling to Crocodile Springs Resort in northern Australia shouldn't be too hard, but she discovers it's harder than she ever imagined. Luckily, a sexy fishermen offers his services to get her where she needs to be. However, when Jessica discovers the truth of what her fisherman has been hiding from her, will she be able to forgive him or will she walk away from her shot at happy ever after?

Having loved the first two books of this series, and reading how the previous book ended for Alex, I couldn't wait to read Alex's story because I knew it was going to be a tad emotional and after all that he's been through there's no one more deserving of happy ever after than this hero. Really, this book was a wonderful read full of emotion because of the hero's past and the fact that the heroine is determined to get what she came for -- an interview with the reclusive Alessandro. Will she discover Alex's secret? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me fully hooked because Alex sees Jessica as his enemy.

Both the main characters were enjoyable and I loved their back stories, as the heroine is determined to get the story she's come for and nothing will stand in her way, especially if it will get her career on the track she wants, so she can finally prove her father wrong. I also liked how she challenged the hero, because she pushes the hero to finally face the past in hopes of being able to move forward. While the hero, it's understandable why he's distanced himself from those that love him and is determined to honor his late fiancé for her family. I also liked how determined the hero was to protect himself, even if it meant misleading Jessica. If she discovers the truth, will he be able to make things right between them, especially when Jessica's the first person that's been able to make him begin to feel again after everything he learnt about his fiancé?

Overall, Ms. Seaton has delivered another really good read for this series where the chemistry between this pair was strong; the romance was on the sweet side; and the ending had me sympathizing with the heroine because of what happens that causes her relationship with Alex to go awry, but had me loving what the hero does to win back Jessica. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because the heroine has finally found a place to call home and she finally has a career she excels at. I would recommend Outback Affair by Annie Seaton, if you enjoy second chance romances, the enemy to lovers trope, or books by authors Sarah Williams, Fleur McDonald, Nicki Edwards and Fiona McArthur.

Jessica currently works for her dad, and she hates it because the strings attached to it continually get in her way. When she's given the opportunity at a full-time position with Cuisine, she's determined to land it. But, to do so, she needs to interview a man who is known for being reclusive, Alessandro. As she makes her journey to hopefully garner an interview, she meets Alex and the two have an immediate connection.

Alex, or Alessandro as he was born, is a former lawyer who removed himself from the spotlight. He protects his privacy and heart with impenetrable defenses. Well, they were, until he met Jessica. But he knows why she's there, and intends to teach her a lesson.

Though Jessica wants to prove herself, she also feels something for Alex, and is genuinely a nice person. During their journey to the resort, the two draw closer, and their chemistry is undeniable. However, Alex is keeping a secret, his true identity.

What happens when Jessica learns Alex is Alessandro? Can she forgive him for lying to her? Will Jessica get her interview, and the position, getting her out from under her dad's reach? Or will she leave, taking Alex's heart with her, leaving him with regret? Can they work through what happened and get their HEA?

One-click now and follow along as two people meet, both having been hurt in the past, and slowly start to love again. I will say, I find it hypocritical that Alex repeatedly mentions being upset about Jessica's lies, and yet, he's been lying to her since the moment they met.

Thanks to netgalley.com and the publisher for a copy of this book.
This was the best book in the Affair series. The unpreparedness of Jess during this outback adventure was so funny. Alex and the way he treated her during this adventure was so silly. He was guarding his heart because he knew he could fall for this unprepared American girl. The secret Alex kept about his identity had to be hard, but he never really opened up about his past or his life, it was his momma who did that. The resort sounds like heaven and a place that Jess would really enjoy, but I'm super happy she took a different path and got to meet Alex and really experience the true outback. It was a fun book and really interesting situations.

I've really enjoyed this series. New York city girls comes to the outback not expecting the next town to be a couple of days drive away. A local fisherman gives her a lift, but is there a secret about him and the resort they're headed to?
This was a humourous and sweet romance, loved the adventures around the water hole.
The chemistry and banter between these two kept me entertained throughout the book, I loved it.

I've never read anything of Annie Seatons before. I absolutely enjoyed this and read it in one sitting.

As an Aussie I really enjoyed the outback story and the characters were great too. I also just realised this is #3 in a series but I had no trouble reading this as a standalone. I will be going in search of more books by Annie Seaton for sure!
