Essays discuss the life and accomplishments of the Black Muslim leader, including his childhood, imprisonment, his association with the Nation of Islam, and his assassination.
This is a nice little introduction to the Life of Malcolm X. It is a series of essays, compiled to offer a picture of his personal and political life. He is obviously a significant figure in the history of the Black Struggle in the United States. Many scholars are now clinging to Malcolm as a balancing counter-figure to the work of Martin Luther King Jr. Malcolm is often misunderstood and misquoted, but he had a deep commitment to his people and believed in restoring a sense of pride that was stripped from blacks. I am not, however, a fan of his use of the term "white devil," but that is indicative of his social location and reality.
