“Don’t ever take this away from me again,” he says softly.

“Don’t ever ask me to,” I reply.

I loved this little novella, it’s been awhile since I had a lil of Trick in my life, but glad the Wild Ones are back at it again. Rusty and Jenna were a perfect match from the very beginning making their summer fling last longer than they both expected, hoping to one day follow in Cami and Tricks footsteps. Getting roped into the wedding and Cami’s crazy-premarital-no-sex-rule, there was a whole lotta cat and mouse games being played, and as fun as it was to tease each other, keeping their hands off each other was pure torture.
I can’t think with him saying these things to me. I can’t breathe with him doing these things to me. All I can do is feel. And I feel need—need for Rusty’s body. Filling me up. Stretching me tight. Pushing me to the edge.

And I need it now.

While Rusty and Jenna knew how they felt about each other, they kept it all to themselves, hoping that their bodies and actions delivered the message they were so scared to say. Jenna lives her life wild and free and Rusty believes that it’s just a matter of time before she leaves him just like his father. Pride keeps him from asking her to stay while all Jenna wants is to hear those words, just any confirmation that he feels for her what she feels for him. They say actions speak louder than words but sometimes it isn’t enough. But is holding on to your pride worth losing the one you love, when they are put to the test, they have to answer that question once and for all.

Wild Child was a great addition to the Wild Ones series, we got to be a part of Cami and Tricks Wedding and get to see Rusty and Jenna come to terms with their past, present and future. Plus we got to meet Jake, the Hero of the next book Some like It Wild. The first part of the book was everything you would expect from the Wild Ones, teasing, seducing and just being naughty, but the second part of the book takes a different turn, it’s what happens when you put aside the playfulness and deal with the issues instead of hiding behind a kiss. I really enjoy the author’s style, keeping it along the lines of being heartwarmingly sexy, causing both my panties and heart to melt away. Can’t wait for the next one, although Rusty and Jenna won’t be the main attraction, they still will be a part of it, after all they can’t be the Wild Ones without them.

Communication is key! That is the lesson we should all take away from Wild Child. Oh these two! This was such a lovely lovely novella. Rusty and Jenna clearly love each other however both have a hard time communicating that to one another. Each has their own idea of their relationship and speaking up would have helped clear a few things up. I absolutely loved Jenna and Rusty’s story and after waiting what feels like forever for this book, I was not at all disappointed!

Despite this being a novella, it still packs the punch of a full length novel. I connected with the characters and felt for them. I rooted for them from page one and my heart broke for them over and over. The book made me cry not once, but twice. That is not an easy thing to do, especially over the relatively short span of a novella.

Rusty was oh so swoony and I easily fell in love with him. Jenna was so snarky and fun and well, wild. She is most certainly a wild child, but in a good way. These two together are so much fun and they balance each other so well. They make a fantastic couple. And I need to take a second to appreciate the costume party scene. The chemistry between those two leaped off the pages but in that scene it didn’t just leap but flew!

Of course we get to see Trick and Cami again and that made me flail like a whacked out muppet baby. I loved what we saw of them. Trick managed to make me swoon and cry even as a secondary character. Trick remains my very favorite M. Leighton guy. I honestly doubt there will come a day when he gets beat out and if he does, well then that new guy must be something special.

Wild Child is a fantastic addition to The Wild Ones series and was worth the wait. Rusty and Jenna make for an awesome read and oh yeah, it is super steamy too. Definitely one to add to your “must read” list.

Wow. Now that is how you write a novella. This was a short read, but packed such a punch. With such a variety of emotions, it read more like a full novel than just a glimpse into Jenna & Rusty's struggle to find their way together beyond the fears that held them back.

Jenna is not the type of girl to live in the same small town she grew up in, she has big dreams to escape the small town life. Rusty has always known that Jenna was not the kind of girl to stick. He was just waiting and enjoying the ride until the one day when she finally left, left him.

Rusty's past can't seem to let him admit what he feels for Jenna, but it sure does a number on how he reacts to her. Between his fear of her one day walking away and her fear that he never saw their relationship for more than just a good time, these two are the poster children for miscommunication.

There are some pretty tragic moments that occur during this one, which again, for being so short it was amazing how much emotion you felt. But sometimes it takes a tragic moment to find something beautiful that you overlooked. For Jenna and Rusty finding that beautiful was not an easy road - it took facing fears of your past and fears of what your future would hold. But when you love someone that much it's worth it.

And in between the disaster of these two, we get loads of Cami & Trick as they are approaching their very own HEA courtesy of a walk down a particular aisle. This was a story that felt like forever ago that I had read, but within just a few pages I recalled every part of the first in the series. Which just shows how much that story just stuck, I can't wait to see what comes next in the series - hoping that we get more of the whole bunch.

And let's just take a moment to say that Rusty and Jenna set fire to my eff'n Kindle. The tease that occurs at the start of this was like slowly stoking a fire, and when that fire finally caught, it was hotter than hell. Two words. Mechanical Bull.

FREAKIN AWESOME... The things that happen in this book...
Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
M. Leighton is flippin brilliant!!!!

FULL REVIEW:
*sighs heavily*
I was so excited to be able to read about my beloved characters from The Wild Ones series. The first book rocked my socks and I fell soooo in love with Trick and Cami. I couldn't wait to dive in to Wild Child and ride the fun with Jenna and Rusty.
Well, I am going to start out by saying...YEE-HAW baby!!! Wild Child threw us right in to the lives of Rusty and Jenna and of course the fun and most anticipated events of Trick and Cami. As always, M. Leighton does a fabulous job of bringing you in to the story and connecting with the characters. Laced with humor and sexual tension, and yes these two go together fabulously, you are speeding through the pages dying to see exactly what is going to happen next.
AND OMG...does it go from one extreme to the next...I was literally shocked with the decisions that were made, heck, I was just down right pissed...I was like..."WTH??? What kind of thinking is that??" But, that isn't even the height of the drama...Because not long after that, everything comes crashing down and my heart was ripped out of my chest and stomped on. At least that is how it felt...Then the tears came...
I am not a crier really...Only certain books/authors have been able to bring that out of me...I am not surprised that M. Leighton can do that...she is so brilliantly talented in her writing that her books sink their hooks in you and you are so emotionally connected that it is inevitable that you will be feeling EVERYTHING that these characters feel.
So, emotionally spent after the whirlwind of emotions, Wild Child took me on that 8 second bull ride. With each second ticking on the clock, I was wound to the bucking, twisting and turning of the story...holding on for dear life hoping that these well developed characters survive until that buzzer sounds.
*wipes hand across forehead*
Whew...What a RIDE!!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND...Only one week away...Make sure you get your copy and "Save a Horse, Ride a Bull"....

While I didn't finish All of You by Christina Lee today, I did start and finish this gorgeous title here. In one sitting at that! I devoured all of its goodness and couldn't get enough of it. I read Andrea's review on The Bookish Babes and I knew I would not be disappointed by this novella. I wasn't! I had a fun time with Trick and Cami, but my heart truly belongs with Rusty and Jenna. I loved loved loved their firecracker, fun-loving and snarky personalities and I truly adored these two. At first I was a bit upset that they'd have just a novella, but after reading Wild Child, I realize that it would have been too much if it had been a full novel.

In Wild Child, we get to see a very different side to Rusty and Jenna. They are indeed very sexy and confident in their relationship, but they are haunted by their doubts of what the future has in store for them as a couple. Throughout the short 100 pages we get to know them better, see their belief in love crumble and eventually spend time with them at their worst. So much happened and I still can't wrap my mind around it. A lot of it could have been avoided if they had just talked to each other, but I guess they were afraid and I can forgive them for that. I'm so glad to have read this and it's my favorite book by Ms. Leighton to date! Loved it to pieces :)

M. Leighton is becoming one of my favorite authors. From YA To NA to PNR she knocks it out of the park!! This is a novella about Rusty and Jenna, but even in a novella M Leighton still evokes real emotion from you. There was a bit of drama, some hot sex scenes and some tears, both of joy and sadness. Plus we got to witness Cami and Tricks wedding!! Ahh Trick how I have missed you!! Plus she's gotten me excited to read about Jenna's brother Jake!!

5***** Wild Stars!!!

4 "leaving kind" Kisses

Wild Child just took me for a wild ride! I was not prepared...I knew it would be hot (which it was)...angsty (which it so was)...and of course emotional (ooooh boy was it!). I was not however prepared for the tears. Yeah...M. Leighton just made me ugly cry!

Jenna Theopolis is a hell cat...she's feisty and fiery and you never know what's going to come out of her mouth. Most of the time it's hilarious or will make you blush...or both. She doesn't hold back, she is the way she is and you love it or leave it - and I loved it! She's just graduated college with a degree in business and marketing - the world is her oyster and she's not going to be tied down to her hometown. She's got big plans and wants greatness in her future...she's just hoping those plans also include the man she loves.

“I mean, he already things I’m the leaving kind and this will just make it seem like he’s right.”
The leaving kind?”
“Yeah. He’s always teasing me about being too restless for this town, about having plans that are too big for this town. I’ve never tried to hide how much I hate it heare or how I want to live in a bigger city….But sometimes, I tink he sees us as…temporary beause of it. He thinks I’m sort of wild child that will never settle down.”
“You are a wild child, Jenna. But that’s not a bad thing. It’s who you are. It’s what makes us all love you so much.”

Jeffrey 'Rusty' Catron...I can't think of him as Jeff...he's not Jeff...he's Rusty! And possibly the hottest redheaded cowboy ever. He loves cars...beer...and whether he wants to admit it or not...Jenna. But he's scarred from his past with his dad and the sins of the father are totally affecting the sons decisions - (which is bull shit!!!). Rusty frustrated me a little bit...he was stubborn and a little dense but...that's a man for ya! Even with everyone around him giving him good advice 'he knows better' - ugh!

‘He’s stealing himself against wanting me, which makes me want to tease him that much more. I want to break him. I want him to give in because he just can’t stand it. I want him to forsake all else for me, for the want of me, for the love of me. That’s all I’ve ever wanted from Rusty – his devotion. The same kind of devotion I have for him.’

Of course I loved Jenna and Rusty from The Wild Ones …who didn’t? But I gotta be honest, from their personalities and what I knew of them from T.W.O., I was expecting a pretty hot, fun, sexy novella. Boy, did I get thrown for a loop. So yeah…there was sexual tension...but there was also angst...there was sadness...there was heartbreak...I was alllllll over the place with no relief in sight. I take that back there were short patches of relief...but even though this was a novella it felt like the turmoil was so much more compact and hard hitting.

‘That’s a word I’ll have to get used to.
All the tings I took for granted, all the things I thought there was plenty of time for, all the things that carried a tag that read someday, now reads never. All the some days and one days, all the maybes and ifs are now nevers. Never is the new constant.’

So…remember the ugly cry I mentioned? Yeah…I was crying over one scene out of hurt and frustration and then the next thing I know I'm bawling over something completely different. Big, fat, crocodile tears. I can't spoil but O...M...G! M. Leighton destroyed me, in the best way possible. But, even though these scenes made me cry…the emotion, the power, the detail...everything was written with spot on perfection. It killed me and it hurt….but I loved it...go figure!

“Jenna, I can survive without you. I can exist,” he begins, the words slicing through me like a knife through butter. “But it wouldn’t be any kind of existence that I’d want. You are what makes my life worth living. You’re the sunshine in it, you’re the laughter and the smiles. You’re the warm nights and the cool breezes. You’re like every good memory and moment and dream I’ve ever had all wrapped up into one. And if you go, you take the only living part of me with you. Without you, I might as well be dead. So, yes, I can survive without you. But that’s all I’d be doing.”

The Wild Ones series is one of my faves...hot cowboys...hotter sex...angst galore but always leaves you with a happy ending. I loved the writing...the alternating POV's...the wit and humor that is written into these awesomely unique characters...it's all very easy to fall in love with. Can't wait for Some Like It Wild - Jake and Laney's story! (Jake is Jenna's brother...and if he's anything like I think he's going to be...this is going to be fun!)

4 out of 5 Smokin' Southern Heated Stars!
[image error] photo image_zpse37a1921.jpg

Holy heated sexual tension Batman! Someone definitely turned the heat up in here because there is a southern bad boy who is trying to tame a beautiful wild child and it was a sizzling experience. Michelle Leighton continues to amaze and dazzle with this addition to The Wild Ones series. She always knows how to write a solid connection between two seemingly unlikely-to-be couples.

"His loose gait is like that of a lion, stalking his prey. And I'd love to be Rusty's prey. For him to stalk me until he catches me, to grab me with his hands and hold me down so he can devour me."-Jenna

This story is about Rusty and Jenna, the best friends of Trick and Cami, who we met in The Wild Ones. It is a novella so it is short, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for by intense sexual chemistry that could melt the snow caps. The two couples take a pact of celibacy for Trick and Cami's upcoming nuptials, which just adds a hilarious added bonus to the story. I was laughing my butt off at the boys' blue-balled frustrations while the girls plot to tempt them with no mercy in sight.

Jenna knows that her relationship with Rusty has grown from just a summer fling to something much more meaningful. She loves him and is hopeful he will come around and return her feelings. Rusty knows she isn't the type to stick around their small town that doesn't fit in with her big dreams for her future. Rusty lacks some much needed optimism when it comes to Jenna, and it's all due to the abandonment of his father when he was a kid. He feels that if he let anyone in, they will just inevitably leave him as well, despite any love or warm and fuzzy feelings. Jenna becomes unsettled with waiting around for hope that Rusty will want more. It eventually makes her believe he doesn't want her and was mistaken about the depth of their connection. His abandonment issues together with her feelings of rejection, put them in a frustrating stalemate.

"The things I love so much about Jenna are likely some of the very things that will take her away from me. I guess you really can't have your cake and eat it to."-Rusty

Unfortunately, what finally leads them to finally snap out of their disheartening stubbornness, are some very tragic events. I crossed my fingers that they could defeat the overbearing egos they both held on to and let each other in. I knew I would be a swoony mess once Rusty let his sensitive loving side out and I wasn't disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed these two strong headed individuals that truly complement one another and make each other whole.

"I don't know how to tell you that I'd follow you to the ends of the earth, just to hear you say you love me one more time. Help me, Jenna. Help me say the right things. Help me do the right things. Help me to be the kind of man you could spend the rest of your life loving. Because that's who I want to be."-Rusty

*sigh* Sorry I just re-read Rusty's declaration of love and couldn't hold back my inner sigh. I loved this special little piece of literature. I can't wait for the rest of this series to come out so I can sink my teeth in and devour them. I without a doubt recommend this book and Trick and Cami's story in The Wild Ones! Oh and we got a delightful sneak peak to Ms. Leighton's new series All the Pretty Lies which is due out November 12, 2013. Keep a dutiful eye out for it because believe me you will want to read that one as well.

3.5 stars. Read this book as a bonus in Some Like it Wild. I liked getting some background on Jake's little sister Jenna and her love interest Rusty. This was a fun little romance written in alternating first person points of view of the main characters. The story takes place immediately before the events of Some Like it Wild.

Jenna's best friend Cami takes on a vow of celibacy in the week leading up to her wedding to Trick. In the spirit of sharing, Jenna agrees to do the same with her boyfriend, Rusty. Oh, what sexual tension!
Jenna and Rusty are a lovable couple - they just are a tad too stubborn to see how much they love each other.

This is a lot of fun to read and I especially liked how the girls found ways to tease the boys in the days leading up to the wedding. Those poor guys!

However, nothing is perfect and Rusty feels that he will lose Jenna and that she will move away. Rather than address the situation, he shuts down. It doesn't help that he was in a terrible accident that will take him months to recover from his injuries. In the meantime, he refuses to see Jenna.

Once Rusty finally sees what he's been missing, he stands by Jenna in her time of need. I liked how Jenna did not take him back immediately.

The Wild Ones is a fun, light romance. I'll definitely look for more books by this author.

We met Jenna and Rusty in book one The Wild Ones as Cami and Trick's best friends. Jenna is also Jake's sister from book two, Some like It Wild. Jenna is spirited, outspoken, and fun loving. She has always looked forward to leaving Greenfield behind and making something out of herself. Rusty is wild, passionate, and charismatic, but has insecurities stemming from his past. They are totally compatible, hot for each other, and have strong feelings. But they do have some issues with communication. Rusty has fears and is afraid of admitting how he really feels or moving them forward. And Jenna needs to know what he feels so she can plan our her own path.

"He thinks I'm some sort of wild child that will never settle down."

A week of enforced celibacy, friends' wedding activities, and the thought of losing her all makes for a lot of heated foreplay and sends Rusty reeling. Their chemistry is definitely hot and they really are good together. But they are both afraid to rock the boat too much.

I want to break him. I want him to give in because he just can't stand it. I want him to forsake all else for me, for the want of me, for the love of me. That's all I've ever wanted from Rusty--his devotion. The same kind of devotion I have for him.

You can love somebody and still end up leaving them. Some people are just made that way--to always want greener pastures. I've seen it before. And I'm not getting attached to a person like that again.

But they can't live in limbo forever. Rusty has fears of abandonment. Jenna is tired of being hurt and has to figure out what she wants to do about her future. And life is about to them some major curve balls that will test them personally and as a couple in ways they never expected.

This was steamy, funny, emotional, and romantic. I really liked Rusty and Jenna and getting to see more into Cami and Trick's future. It was good extended epilogue for the first book, and also more fully explored the passion and relationship of Rusty and Jenna as well. It was told in both points of view allowing us to understand their true feelings that they had trouble expressing for much of the story. This is a novella but it still felt like she gave Rusty and Jenna enough story and conflict and time to resolve it. And also providing more of a chance to spend time with Trick and Cami. This events in this book lead into Jake's book, Some like It Wild.

Thanks to M. Leighton and PENGUIN GROUP Berkley, NAL / Signet Romance, DAW for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.

Oh how I love M. Leighton. The Wild Ones was such a fun and emotional read, I expected Wild Child to be something along those lines. And that’s what I got, but in a way – more.

I really liked Jenna as Cami’s best friend in The Wild Ones, but to be honest, I didn’t get a good reading on Rusty as Trick’s best friend.

However – my reading on Rusty in this novella was loud and clear and I. Love. Rusty.

I’m not doing to delve into the plot, I want to concentrate on the characters and my feelings here.

Jenna and Rusty are sex fiends and there are some great scenes in this novella that required taking a break and a few deep breathes. Two words: Mechanical. Bull.

Cami, though, as a bride to be, forces Jenna, as her best friend, to identify with her self-inflicted sexbargo.

“No sex before the wedding. For me and Trick. Or for you and Rusty.” Cami says.

I laughed a lot, too.

While she might seem like the devil, holy hot damn can she plan a wedding! I bet even the flowers don’t have the nerve to drop a single petal until the festivities are over and she’s gone.

Jenna is fun, always happy and smiling, a little cheeky and a lot loving on the ones close to her. She’s desperate to leave town and move to a bigger and better future, but is willing to make big sacrifices if her feelings are reciprocated.

Rusty is great. He’s handsome, funny and fun, passionate and tremendously insecure. He trusts nothing more than everyone he loves – leaves. That has been the case with his father and Jenna, who shares a lot of his father’s carefree traits, is bound to follow the same path. So Rusty makes the biggest mistake of his life. He pushes Jenna away.

The feelings this little novella made surface were vast, from laughter and amusement to anger, frustration and deep sadness and fine, a couple of tears were involved.

I very much enjoy Leighton’s writing and her spunky style, and having read many of her novels, she only gets better. The smooth writing in this novella is a testament.

Highly recommended, but read The Wild Ones first. I think the backstory of those two, as well as Trick’s and Cami’s story (yum!) is a good foundation. And there are also the next two novels in this series coming out in 2014.

I gave it 4.5 Stars!

BEAUTIFUL, INTENSE, TOUCHING love story

Michelle Leighton did it again. !!

I loved this book and I do mean LOVED!! And what’s really special to this novella is that, it teaches us lessons in life to live by.

Wild Child is the story of Jenna and Rusty and their struggles in keeping their relationship works. Wild Child makes me experience a roller coaster of emotions. I smile, giggle, laugh, pant and cry. And I can’t deny a fact that every time I read Michelle Leighton books I always end up panting with those sexy scenes and I always have water on hand. Her books make my throat dry with HOTNESS STEAMY LOVE SCENES. There is just I scene that really made my heart aches a lot and I shed a tear reading that particular scene. I don’t see that coming and I really got shock with that.

I really love this story and I know it ends perfectly but I’ll be honest, I WANT MORE ..!!! I just can’t take the fact that this is where their story ends. I love Rusty and Jenna always.

I definitely recommend this book. If you haven’t read it yet, Go grab your copies now. You won’t be disappointed I promise.

Wild Ones Series is another beautiful story that everyone should look forward to. Love Michelle Leighton books so much <3

Carina come storia.

Romance and Fantasy for Cosmopolitan Girls

Mentre guardo i capelli rosso scuro tutti scompigliati,

«No». «Perché no?»

This is a short read about Jenna and Rusty from the Wild Ones. We already knew they were together from that book, but Rusty doesn't think Jenna will ever stick around. Jenna isn't sure Rusty wants her to.

Things come to a head at the wedding of their two best friends. They finally admit how they feel about each other.

Cute story.

Fun little drama story. Not sure how I missed it when I read the series but I’m glad I had the chance to read it now.
