Princess Tiana is almost ready for the grand opening of her restaurant in New Orleans, Tiana's Palace. A famous food critic is even coming for the big day. Then one thing after another goes wrong on opening day leaving Tiana to wonder if she will be able to fix everything in time. A very likable and enjoyable children's book featuring a cast of endearing characters including Tiana's husband, Prince Naveen; alligator friend and trumpet player, Louis; best friend, Charlotte; and Tiana's mother. Not to mention the lovely and gracious Tiana herself. It's nice to see Tiana's family and friends there for her and pulling together to help her out when all goes wrong. Beautiful illustrations, too.

This another favorite of my four-year-old daughter who absolutely loves this early chapter book series featuring the Disney princesses. This one focuses on the grand opening of Tiana's Palace, the restaurant Tiana opens at the end of the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog, so it is essentially a book that fills in the space between the wedding and the final scene in the original film. Overall, it's pretty trite, but it probably has to be for the intended audience. The illustrations are vivid and engaging though, and they certainly helped maintain my daughter's focus!

Fun story! Chef-Princess Tiana is excited for the grand opening of her New Orleans restaurant. She has the support of family, friends, and her husband Prince Naveen. She prepares the Southern cuisine: gumbo, jambalaya, bread pudding, beignets...yummy! But will opening night go on without a hitch?

"Food brings folks together from all walks of life. It warms them right up and put smiles on their faces" (p. 22). 👑👩🏾‍🍳🎉

My daughter loved this one. Some are about throwing parties and the perfect dress, or jewelry, but this one was about Tiana's restaurant, and it was after the movie ends so you get to see the princess with her prince. And she is still working hard and making her own dreams come true, even after she gets the prince. This one was my favorite so far, and my daughter loved that the prince and Louis were in it. Big hit in our house!

First of all, I thoroughly enjoy Disney, even though there have been a lot of poor reviews in the media here recently. Disney is always full of hope and inspiration, no matter what the circumstances might be. Gender, disabilities, and anything else that might be used to "classify" someone in today's world hold no merit with typical Disney.

"The Grand Opening: Tiana" is a spin-off of the Disney Movie "The Princess and the Frog:" a wonderful tale about a poor woman working two jobs to make her dreams come true, until one day she meets a frog, kisses him and is turned into one herself. When we last saw Tiana and Naveen, they had be transformed back into human beings upon their wedding day.

Tiana's big dream was to open her own restaurant where she could realize the dream of both her and her father by serving up the New Orleans area with the best Gumbo they have ever tasted! Upon becoming a princess by marrying Prince Naveen, these dreams were able to come true, unless the million bumps and roadblocks get in their way.

I can’t get enough of Tiana and her friend Charlotte and Louis. I love New Orleans and jazz music, walking down the streets snapping my fingers feeling the beat. This was particularly about tianas new restaurants big day, OPENING day. Tiana is so worried because her best friend Charlotte got the biggest well known food critic to come to her opening day. Things do go a bit mishap but everyone knows that it’s gonna be a hit. Tiana on the other hand has her doubts but in the end she found out exactly what she was hoping for.

Great kids book. Loved the story I loved the pictures. I love imagining what happens the happily ever after.

Such an amazing story. Princess Tiana has gotten herself ready for the grand opening of Tiana's Palace, her restaurant. She has gotten support from her friends, family, and especially her husband, Prince Naveen. Will the opening night be a huge disaster? Read this and find out.

Tiana

Great story. It’s refreshing to not have an actual palace on how to feel beautiful and great. Looking forward to another story

Make sure you have beignets handy when reading this!

As usual, the writers of these Disney chapter books stay true to the movie characters that inspired them.

My nephew loved the gorgeous illustrations and kept cheering Tiana on. Can't wait to see what is next in the series!

A nice sequel of a sorts, ties in nicely with the end of the movie, keeps to the same characters for the most part, and shows the next steps of dreams coming true.

Fun to Read

I enjoyed reading this book because it was like real life. It showed how even the best plans can get complicated with life's own unforeseen circumstances. It demonstrated how each good plan has a contingency plan for the usual things that do go wrong in each specific situation. So, for each party you plan, try to have standby tools and items for each normal disaster such as lighting issues, electrical issues, rain and other weather type surprises, backup clothes for when the primary gets ruined, extra cash in case of issues easily fixed with cash, etc. Enjoy your life to the fullest. Working for a living does not have to be a chore. ~Jimmie
