5,000+ words Jurisa, the Alpha female of the Cold Mountains pack, becomes the hunted as other Alpha males chase her down. She’s about to go into heat and it’s driving the males mad. Jurisa’s done everything she can to prepare for the chase, but will it be enough to ensure she gets the male she wants? Mild romance, some nudity.
At 26 pages this book was pointless. We get hardly any background of either character so more pointlessness. I feel a little mean but I read for a story with depth and character development not this
Super-short story. 51 pages on the Nook App on my iPad.
Jurisa is the alpha female of her pack, but her mate has passed away awhile ago and there has been a great deal of uproar amoung the community, or the rest of the packs for her to chose another mate. It is always best for an Alpha to rule as a mated pair.
Alphas from all over have come to this area to engage in a run to determine the new mate for Jurisa. She has laid out a path, practiced it many times, set traps and obstacles and done everything she can to make sure that only the strongest and best alphas, and the one she approves of make it to the end. In order to make sure some of the "slimier" alphas don't make it, she has slipped something into the evening meal.
The run begins, but in the end, the outcome in more than she had planned, and Jurisa as more to say in her choice of mate than she thought she would.
It is a cute store, very short, and very fast read. I think it could easily be taken and make into a full novel, just with the information given in this novella. The expanded work could be awesome. For a novella is was cute, and worth the price I got it for.
Free at BarnesandNoble.com, or at least it was when I downloaded it. Not sure if it is still now, but worth checking out, if you are looking for something to add for some quick reads this summer.
It's stories like this, that I never understand why they were even written. Even for a short story, it was just stupid. There was just no point in it.
I noticed the author seemed to call a werewolves 'pack'...a community. That's a first! I don't understand why that was changed because it doesn't really sense. Given the fact that these werewolves don't even live with the humans...they're more animal like, living off the land and whatnot, like a wolf 'pack!'
There were just several inconsistencies in this story that I couldn't help but compare to other werewolf stories.
Usually when an Alpha mates, it's for life. His female is usually an Alpha herself, at least in the regards to the other females of the pack or community in this case. So once one of them loses their mate, that's usually it. Time to move on and let another Alpha be in charge. Or at least let the former Alpha's mate (the main female) choose? I don't get the race?
I remember reading a part where the main female mentioned how she was already wet between the legs prior to the 'race for a mate' thing. Yet she said that she wasn't in heat, so this part didn't make sense to me.
It's difficult to rate a micro novel in the same way you would a full length since much of the character/world building/emotional attachment is sacrificed as a result. But clearly the real purpose is to tease you into wanting more from the author.
It was okay and no doubt there will be readers responding to the teaser but not me.
This was pretty good! When the book is on my nook, I can tell exact page numbers versus my kindle which is by word... This was 39 pages.
A widowed werewolf needs a new alpha, so she does a run with alphas from all over...
It felt more of a preview & could really developed into something more. I was disappointed it didn't. The writing style was good, but could have used more detailed descriptions of characters.
I am assuming it was historical only because of a few descriptive words & her wearing a dress with chemise??? Major guess on my part.
I have read other Lycan stories and loved them so I am not being harsh when I say this story has been told. In longer full length novels with more background and understanding of why the characters make stupid decisions throughout the book. I am irritated at the MC and while I understand her decisions I still cannot comprehend her stupidity. I am so glad I did not pay for this read! The story has been told and told with a LOT more character development and a plot. This one was missing!
This story was interesting. I thought it was well written, for the most part, and it had a good plot line. I liked the idea of the competition for the mate. I also liked the tension created in having to see who would actually get it. I did think the ended was a little anticlimactic, but it worked overall.
Jurisa is a widowed lycan and is in need of a mate. She is caught in a run between 2 of the most dominant males and the rest. Between drugging and setting traps she hopes that one of the males Feodor will not succeed in catching her.
