Artie Boyle was a run-of-the-mill American hockey dad. Then terminal cancer happened. The best doctors despaired. And Artie dared to look for a miracle. Artie had never put much stock in mysticism or miracles. But when his best friends bought tickets to fly with him to Croatia to the controversial shrine at Medjugorje where healings were known to happen, he dared it all. They found themselves in powerful ways sharing spiritually, even praying together, something they would have found very odd before. And when they came home Artie was healed—completely. The cancer was gone. The doctors at Mass General Hospital were astounded yet could offer no explanation. Six Months to Live relates not only Artie’s miraculous healing but his spiritual transformation and the hope and inspiration he offers to thousands who hear his story.
I read a book today called "six months to live" (Three Guys on the Ultimate Quest for a Miracle) by Artie Boyle. I was very moved & motivated by this amazing story and personal journey of faith and healing. If you want to believe in something pretty amazing, I would check it out. If an incredible miracle (who believes in those, right? I know of at least one family who does) isn't enough to peak your curiosity, there is something even more powerful to this journey on the spiritual level. Think of three regular guys bonding through sharing a power experience that changes them in the most profound and lasting way. The book makes you want to cherish and appreciate the day and people right in front of you, and know who watched over them. I'm more than glad I read this book and want to thank Artie for sharing his story.
simple and straightforward account of a miracle that happened to a run-of-the-mill Catholic dad; it was beautiful to see how radically the event changed his life and that of his family and community
would recommend as an easy read to anyone wanting a little faith boost
What a miraculous story. A true inspiration and testament to the power of prayer and faith. I cried, was moved, left in awe and filled with hope. Such a beautiful story and incredible journey, overcoming insurmountable odds with the help of Our Blessed Mother 💙
An undeniably powerful read, this is a story about a miracle, and its central character (the author, Artie Boyle) is essentially staring death in the face after being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, kidney cancer. But things change quite dramatically in Artie's favor after making a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, a place of healing among the community.
This is a story of a true Christian miracle. As a side note, I was raised Christian and still consider myself to be in many respects, though my beliefs have changed dramatically since the death of a close family member 10 years ago (I've been smitten by the Buddhist faith and have walked a fine line between Buddhism and Christianity ever since). My point in mentioning this is that while I don't hold all the Christian-based beliefs I once did, I wholeheartedly believe what transpired in Artie's life is real, that such things do exist, and I found that the book solidified my understanding of what a miracle could be.
This is an eye-opening story, and if you're inclined not to believe in such things, I recommend you read it anyway. You may change your mind once finished.
Anyone who needs a boost of faith or a reminder to get where you need to be with God, should start with this book. Amazing story about miracle healthing. I know first hand how this works, and hope many more people read and comment on this book as well as learn about medjugorje.
I have been to Medjorgorie twice! I have never witnessed a miracle but it was interesting to visit during an active Civil War. I remember eating calamari pizza in the village.
My daughters father even enjoyed this book and that is saying something!!!!
Nice to read the story that I have been hearing about by word of mouth since we moved here almost 4 years ago... Heartbreaking connection to Corey Griffins untimely death last month in Nantucket... Strong , faithful families ❤️
Renewed faith and forgiveness were so spectacularly highlighted here. This reinforced so many things for me, I want to encourage everyone to read this magical memoir. A favorite book a favorite story of miracles.
A great Lenten read about faith and healing. Written by a local Hingham dad, the book takes you from Boston to Medjugorje, in the former Yugoslavia, where miracles happen.
