I read this whole thing in a bookstore and I looked really cool doing it. Now I know important words like up, dog, and Batmobile! This book is how I learned there is a Supercat so I did actually learn something. James Gunn let’s get Streaky in Man of Tomorrow please 🙏 and there were like 5 pages with Green Arrow on them and in this economy that’s all the Green Arrow I will get!!

This dictionary is one that I would have pleaded to have when I was young. I was a fan of comic books, and this dictionary is based on heroes in the DC line of comics. Each word is used in a short sentence and is accompanied by an image right out of a comic book. The image shows at least one of the characters in the DC line and all of them are in color and are of very high quality.
The level is that of late elementary school children and the book provides a very high level of education in a very fun way. This is a reference book that children will read for fun, which is something that is very rare.

Doesn't really give definitions, just gives examples of the words used in a sentence. Superhero fans will love this for their children, though.

What a fun little 500 word dictionary! Generous pictures of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, et.al. accompany the explanation of a word. For example, the word "invisible" is explained as "People can't see Wonder Woman's jet. It is invisible" and is accompanied by a picture of Wonder Woman and her jet. Another example: "Tent" is explained as "superman flies high above a circus tent." and there is an illustration of Superman flying over a tent.

This book will hold the child's interest as the adult reads to the child and introduces words and definitions. I also think a child first learning to read would enjoy reading this by himself or herself.

I've been reading superhero stories to my son since he was less than a year old. He LOVES all kinds of heroes and heroines, but he's rarely been wanting to learn to read on his own.

THIS book fascinates him as it's loads of art and characters he's not seen before (or just rarely) and he wants to learn more about what's printed on the page.

If for nothing else, this book makes my son want to learn how to read, so it's worth its weight in jewel kryptonite!
