Overall rating for Bind up - 2.5

Dance of Death - 2.5 stars

The characters in this weren't ones I could really like.

The majority of this was dull. Nothing exciting/Interesting happened.

Can't say I'm looking forward to reading the other story in the Afraid bind up, The Dead Girl.

The Dead Girl - 2.5 stars

This was another boring read unfortunately. The story lost my interest very early on, and couldn't get it back.

Glad I've finished the bind up!

This book is a bundle of two stories written by this author. The first story was just too cheesy for me. The second one did get a little better but was just so slow. I did not enjoy this book & will not be keeping it in my personal home library. Never will probably read again. If you want to read just read the second story, The Dead Girl.

The story concepts had the potential to be really good. I had a hard time to getting into the first story "Dancing with Death". There were some grammatical errors on the first few pages that kept distracting me. I began to enjoy the book more by the second story and the writing definitely improved by the second book. I'm confused why the author would pick the same name for different characters who play pretty big roles in each of the stories... and aren't the same character. There were no connecting or overarching theme that made sense for both stories to exist in one book. I would call the first story a light fantasy while the second one is more of a suspense. Or supposed to be. You really don't feel any sense of urgency or fear while the characters are unraveling mysteries. It wasn't until the end of the book I was very interested. I feel a lot of the characters and events could have been deleted because they didn't add anything to the story. if the author had expanded each of the stories and added more depth to the characters, I probably would have liked the story more. This was not the right book to attempt to end a reading slump with!

3 Stars...

The first story was creepy and it held my attention for the most part, but the writing sometimes felt very young and this was the case for the second story also. I thought The Dead Girl was an overall good story that had potential. However, it took so long to finally get going---it just dragged on and on. The story didn't need to be as long as it was. I think Afraid just really needed some editing and revising. The stories just weren't strong enough to get a rating higher than 3 (and that's being generous). The Dead Girl especially could have been such a good book had the writing been stronger and overall more thrilling.

Anyway I don't really have too much to say about this one. There were parts that I enjoyed and there were parts that I found uninteresting.

Content & Language: No sexual content or language in the first book. In The Dead Girl there is one minor curse word, but that's it and there is mention of having sex and being sexually active--nothing graphic.

This book has two stories combined into one. They were fairly interesting. Though in the deck girl I pretty much figured it out before I got to the ending.

Hahahahahahah!!!!!

No. It started out sounding cool. Cursed shoes? Sounds cool.

Yeah, no. Bad editing and terrible writing. Seriously. WAY to many exclamation points. And I noted servals grammatical errors right off the bat. I only read like 25 pages of this dreck. :/

Buying books at dollar tree is a hit and miss thing. The book could be awesome. Or terrible. This was terrible.

Not recommended.
