Do you take? Or do you give?

THE ALCHEMIST
Lucien likes how things panned out. Likes it a lot. The sixteenth century had been hard. Surviving torture sessions by the Spanish Inquisition, even harder. Vampirism was a welcome choice. Now he’s master of VAL’s underground laboratory. It’s his world. Serene. Interesting. Solitary. And then, one morning, everything changes…

MAJOR TROUBLE
Ashley’s a thrill-seeker. Mile a minute. No holds barred. Every challenge accepted. So what if everyone thinks it’s a subconscious death-wish? It’s her life. Living it on the edge makes every moment count. But then someone really does want her dead...

AMPLIFIED
The moment Ashley enters Lucien’s private sphere, the gloves come off. No time-outs. No referee. It’s man versus woman. XX versus XY. Untouched versus untouchable. Its raging hormones in an enclosed space. Combustible potions on every surface. Every word adds fuel. Every action ignites. And when they touch! This partnership needs a warning label…because they’ve got work to do. They need to find out who planned her murder.

Jackie Ivie

Jackie Ivie was born and raised in a suburb outside Utah's capital, beautiful Salt Lake City. The second in a family of four daughters and one son, Jackie was constantly amusing her siblings with her invented games, escapades, and stories. And she was always reading. She would even walk the family dog, with one hand holding the leash, while the other held the ever-present book. No subject went unread, but once she discovered Historical Romances, there was no doubting her favorite genre.

Jackie has always been the busy type, rarely sitting still without being occupied in at least one activity, and usually more. When she was younger, it was nothing to find her watching television, while doing her homework, listening to music, crocheting like a madwoman, and reading, all at the same time.

After graduating, Jackie gained secure employment with a large service company and relocated with her growing family to the neighboring, sparsely-populated state of Wyoming. She then spent several years enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and open space that Wyoming is known for. In addition to writing, Jackie is an accomplished artist in several mediums, preferring mixed media. She has several pictures in print and has exhibited in art showings throughout the West. There was never anything she loved doing more than reading, however, and once she discovered the thrill involved with putting her own words and fantasies on paper there was no stopping her.

In 2001, Jackie and her family took a huge step and moved to the largest state of the nation; Alaska. Although it was her job that brought her here, Jackie has grown to love this land of amazing contrasts, breathtaking vistas, and the ever-present resident, the Alaskan moose. There's nothing else like it, and the very long days of summer lend themselves to hours and hours of energizing tasks, while the long winter nights are just right for her real love...writing.

Jackie has now written thirteen novels and is continually starting more. The thrill of writing has now been enhanced by seeing her actual story in print. Lady of the Knight is her first published work. It will be followed by Tender is the Knight scheduled for release this summer.

This short story is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Main characters are new to the series, but secondary characters have made appearances in other books. There is just something about a hero that doesn't realize just how hot he is! The heroine is an adrenalin junkie that is a newly turned vampire that is trying to get the hang of her super strength and other abilities. Both of them are trying to deal with the whole "mate" thing. If you enjoy vampires, hot romance and some fighting action, you should give this story a try. I just love this series!

Do You Take is Jackie Ivie's 16th book in her Vampire Assassin League. Each book can be read as a stand alone but the series does feature recurring characters that are best enjoyed if all the books in the series are read in order.

In Do you Take, Akron saves Ashley from a skydiving trip gone wrong and gives her to Lucien to watch over. Growing up in a monastery, Lucien has not been around women that much and definitely not felt lust so Ashley throws him for a big loop.

I absolutely loved this novella. Lucien is a hottie and Ashley is determined and of course the brief appearances by Akron and Nigel are hilarious. Highly recommend this book and this series.

"Do You Take" by Jackie Ivie. Book 16 in the Vampire Assassin League series.

I liked this one. It's a novella so the story starts off very quickly. Action right off the bat. Fun banter between the characters of Lucien and Ashley (mostly Ashley actually, she's a babbler). Good chemisty between the two. Short, sweet and to the point. I really liked it.

Lucien is a 400 year old vampire. He's an alchemist and is dead set against having a mate. But Akron, the head of VAL, tells him a newly turned vampire named Ashley needs to use his lab. Now Lucien is experiencing feelings he's never felt before.

Ashley is an adrenalin junky. She also happens to be a forensic scientist and is determined to find out who tried to killed her. Well, technically she did die, but that's besides the point... She needs to borrow a lab but little did she know that she'd be sharing one with the hottest vampire she's ever met.

This is by far my favorite in the VAL series so far.

What can you say about the HOTTEST vampire alive?  or is that dead? Lucian is a 400+ year old vampire
who is a reclusive ALCHEMIST.

Ashley is a  forensic science major. When Ashley is close to death Akron arrives to offer her the
choice to die or be turned into a vampire and get her revenge, the choice was easy.

So what happens when a 16th century man meets a 21st century woman?

"Spoilers" :)  You will have to read Do You Take to find out. Jackie Ivie has surpassed herself in this story.

#16 is every bit as good as the first 15!!

I discovered Jackie Ivie about 2years ago & wait impatiently for each new Vampire Assassin's League. It is funny &sexy and over the top. If you enjoy something a little different & fun then you should try this series. After all, what could be more fun than a vampire finding his or her mate? Did I mention that when that happens the Vampire can breathe, heart starts to beat and other functions restart after many years dormant??? Like I said...So much fun!!

When I first read the description of this one, I wasn't as excited to read it, but I found it one of the best stories of the series so far. It was a change up of how they meet and become mates along with the whole hunter role. Great book and characters.

The VAL may only be stories short, but Ms Ivie packs them full of passion, intrigue and quirky one liners.
I thoroughly enjoyed sharing Lucian's awakening and loved his feisty, irresistable mate!!
