Lila McAllister is exhausted. So much so that her grandfather forces her to go on a sabbatical. She takes off from the big city for some rest and relaxation in her family's home town of Galveston, Texas.
While there she meets Mixed Martial Arts fighter Zach Thomas. After a rocky first encounter, they end up stuck together during a hurricane, and while the storms rage outside, the heat between the two of them rises on the inside.
Hotel heiress Lila McAllister wasn't looking for love, she wasn't even looking for a peace of mind. But when she's ordered by her grandfather to take a sabbatical during an impending hurricane, she may just be overwhelmed by another storm she didn't quite see coming her way.
MMA fighter Zach Thomas needs a moment out of the spotlight. Filled with hurt and anger over the betrayal by a close friend he needs to hide away and prepare for the fight of his life. He doesn't realize he will soon be fighting another fight to hold on to his heart.
When a chance meeting at an airport places both Lila and Zach on a collision course they both are about to enter a perfect storm they won't soon forget.
Te` Russ did a wonderful job of drawing me in hook, line and sinker. She tells the story of two people who aren't looking for love, but somehow find it staring them in the face. They find strength and encouragement in one another as they both experience tumultuous storms in their own lives. This is the second novel I have read by Ms. Russ, and I enjoy the way her characters draw you in and allow you to easily relate to them.
In this story she digs into the world of MMA and paints vivid pictures of a sport on the rise, with insight, clarity, and entertainment. For the lovers in the house, it's the perfect contemporary romance. And for those looking for a little bit of adventure, your blood is sure to boil over with this read. Great job!
This is a very romantic love story. I appreciated the journey from Lila and Zach's chance meeting, unexpected love, to their lifetime commitment to one another. Te' Russ delicately weaved a delicate, yet interesting connection between Lila, a down-to-Earth heiress, and Zach, a non-arrogant mixed martial arts fighter. Their personalities and lifestyles blended so well together. I did long for more description during their sexual encounters. Nothing too raunchy, but more to draw me in. Overall, this story was well-written and allowed me to complete the read feeling good.

Lila McAllister had a health scare and she was forced to take to some time off and Zach Thomas is a MMA fighter who takes some time off before his next fight. There first meeting doesn't go over so well but then they end up stranded together. Even though they didn't have a very good first meeting you can tell that the more time they spend together the more they like each other. They both have to let their defenses down in order to see were things will lead. I loved this story and I can't wait to read the other books in this series.
This is my first read by this author. Zach and Lila met and did not hit it off at first. Fate intervened and made it impossible for them to ignore each other. Their romance developed and became a beautiful romance.
This my second book by Te Russ and it was sweet and sensual. This author has a knack for writing beautiful, tasteful romance. I love the fact that she does not carryout out the conflict between the main characters too long.
Lily Mc Allister is an hotel heiress who has her own event planning business. She gets word of the planned closure of the, family-owned, bed and breakfast and she discusses her wish to buy the property from her grandfather. The dear bed and breakfast in Galveston, Texas is the very first property the Mc Allisters began their successful hotel chain with. Lily is urged to go on a much needed sabbatical after she faints amidst her family, then goes to her new Texas property to have privacy and time away from work.
Zachary Thomas finishes a fight, and gets challenged for his belt by a former friend and team member. Since there is time before the next bout, he flies to Texas to take a break.
Lily encounters Zach in baggage claims, and tugs the bag in his hand because she thinks it is hers. He tries to clear things by explaining, but she is tugging to claim her bag. They’re both annoyed, and he correctly points to the indication on the bag and she relents. While she drives to the property, she admits she should have apologized to that guy.
Zach gets directed to the bed and breakfast after he couldn’t book a room in the Mc Allister’s hotel nearby, and it is storming.
Lily tries to turn him away, and then lets him stay.
The story describes their lives and scrutinies, and how relationships require a bit more care to get it where those involved need it.
There seemed like there was going to be a storm from beginning to end in this enjoyable book Lila’s encounter with Zach at the airport had me wondering if they would survive each other until the end of the book I couldn’t help but laugh at the two stubborn people who tried to ignore the undeniable passion that was between them.
I really enjoyed the book I only gave for stars because it did have a few editing issues.
Lila and Zach encountered each other at the right time. It lead to enemies to friends to lovers. The characters were developed, so I got a good sense of their past while understanding their present and future. Even though it appears to be rushed, real love doesn't have a timetable... or so I'm told.
Lila and Zach ha great chemistry. The first meeting between the two was a little dramatic, but was soon worked out. I would have love to know more about Chad's reasons for turning on Zach. Also, more about Lila's absence the spotlight and why her predicament caused so much drama.
Te Russ has a unique way of penning real and relatable characters that you root for, cry with, and imagine being. The McAllister family will not disappoint. Well worth the read.
Such a sweet love story! Zach and Lila were adorable and so in love. I wished there was more exposure to Zach's family, especially at the fight and wedding. The constant grammatical errors were a true annoyance. Please do better editing.
Loved the characters and story content! However the love scenes have no creativity or sensuality as I find myself keep saying about this author! But she has great content otherwise so a good read none the less…
This book was kind of boring and very lackluster. There was no emotion or passion jumping off the page. I've read some of the author's other books but this didn't live up to those.
I love Zach and Lila. Zach is so sweet, and he knew Lila was the one for him. It is always so wonderful how the men and women are tragically flawed, but in the end, love always wins.
What can I say? I enjoyed every thing about this read. The back drop of the air b&b gave off cozy comfy vibes, cute unexpected romance and plot. Good read
This is my 4th book by Té Russ. It feels like she has intentionally stepped up the sexiness in this book, but it comes across a bit clumsy at times. Lila and Zach are a fling that turns into forever. It’s a cute well written book and I look forward to reading more of her work.
