There are many biblical examples of God's people using prophecy in their witness to unbelievers. Jesus used prophecy in his ministry to seekers. After Pentecost, God gave the gift of prophecy to believers as one resource among many in their witness to the world. Furthermore, Christians today receive prophecies for those who don't know Christ, often with immediate and life-changing effects. This book contains many such testimonies. This is the first book to explore how the gift of prophecy can be used with potent effects in our outreach to non-Christians.
A fun read! I enjoyed this book which makes the case for using the prophetic gifts as a means to reach the lost. Besides giving biblical support for such an endeavor, the author has filled the book with many, many true stories of God giving Christians revelation and facts about utter strangers that has had an 1 Cor 14:25 affect on them.
Wonderful! I love the conversational tone and testimonies of prophetic evangelism in action. God's been using me to do this and it's encouraging to see that I'm not the only one! Got some good ideas for how to train more prophetic evangelists.
Very helpful with lots of faith building testimonies and statement that words of knowledge/prophecy are very effective in lower income contexts like where I live. Stibbe shows the Bible passages which show this is a model of evangelism used in Old and New testaments; before, during and after Jesus' time on earth.
I felt it lacked stories of people who got it horribly wrong (!) and although there were helpful sections on steps for praying for healing and advising Christians to practice prophecy on each other before going out to unbelievers (to build faith) I thought it could have been a wee bit more practical.
