A neighbor gave me this book to sell at a garage sale. When no one bought it, I decided to read it instead. I have a friend who knows the author, who lived and ministered in the same town for a season.
The book is very good--a fairly easy, practical read. The author provides scriptural basis, personal experience and some great examples to explain aspects of intercession that is directed by God, rather than men. Her topics include: breaking curses, staying sharp, strategies for victory and prophetic proclamations, acts, music and movement. There is also a chapter on how to keep the enemy from lashing out at those close to you, as you confront the kingdom of darkness.
I am used to hearing from God and praying as He leads, but this author enlarged my thinking on what can be considered prayer. She gives some good advice on how to hear from God, recognize and confirm what He is saying. This woman does not seem at all prideful or assuming in her tone or manner. She urges people not to act on their own, but to stay under authority. This is NOT a book from the "name it, claim it" crowd. It is sound, biblical stuff.
I recommend this volume for anyone who wants to learn to pray more effectively--whether for your own ministry or family or that of someone else. This dark nation and world definitely needs more prophetic intercessors! Get a copy for yourself and one for your pastor--maybe even for the entire staff, if you are part of a large congregation or para-church organization. When you are done, share it with your Christian book club or Bible study buddies.
