כמו הרבה קוראים בגילי, גדלתי על אסתר שטרייט וורצל. אליפים הוא אחד האהובים עליי. אני זוכרת שהייתי מסתירה אותו מהמורה וקוראת בבית הספר באמצע השיעור, דבר שסיבך אותי אין ספור פעמים בעבר. (הילדים של פעם, רק ספרים היו להם בראש.)
זה ספר די בומבסטי וסיימתי אותו ביומיים או שלושה. וורצל ליוותה אותי בכל תקופת חטיבת הביניים ונתנה לי מקום לברוח אליו. אני חושבת שזה רשמי, מגיע לו התואר קלאסיקה.

The story revolves around Roni and his first year at a agricultural high school. Roni's mother died and after one year, his father remarried. Instead of living in a comfortable affluent home in Tel Aviv, Roni chose a boarding school to avoid living at home with his father and new step-mother.
Roni and his friends have real life problems and are not vampires, super-heroes or demi-gods.

ספר פשוט יפהפייה ומעניין, קראתי אותו כמה וכמה פעמים ולא נמאס לי ממנו.
הסופרת היא סופרת מדהימה ויש לה ספרים מדהימים וקצת שונים בכתיבה.
אני לא אוהבת כל כך ספרים של ישראלים אבל הספרים של אסתר שטרייט ורצל הם שונים ויפים ומיוחדים

Read this book... hmmm let’s see... in 6th grade which was almost 35 years ago! Loved loved loved it then and still remember this great book. Brought it to the US when we moved here at age 13 and kept rereading it here. Would love to get a hold of this book again and read it after so many years. Any advice of where to get it? Ayala3333@gmail.com

Esther Streit-Wurzel's tale of an agriculture boarding school in late 60s Israel was written in the 80s but at a stylistic style reminiscent of the 50s. It hasn't aged well. Hazing, major bulling, minor (?) sexual harassment, and criminal negligence are all normalized, making the tale very much a product of it's time (50s or 60s more than 80s). קראתי את זה בזמן מחסום קריאה ארוך, זו הייתה טעות. לקח לי הרבה זמן לקרוא אותו, לא כי הוא בעייתי אבל בואו נגיד שבזמן מחסום קריאה הוא לא הכי קליל. הספר עצמו מקסים, מרגישים את הווייב של העשורים הראשונים של מדינת ישראל, את האווירה בקיבוצים והחיים בשותף. הדמויות נחמדות, העלילה דיי מעניינת. אני חושבת שהוא ספר קלאסי ישראלי אבל עדיין הרבה מהפרקים חוזרים על עצמם ולכן הוא לא כזה מדהים בעיניי, פשוט חמוד כזה.
