Sadie Anderson is a high school soccer star who shares a secret with her best friends: she has never been kissed by a boy before. That’s when the girls decide to take action. Rather than wait around for love to find them, the girls write a list of the ten most eligible boys in the school and make a pact to help Sadie get a kiss from each boy by the end of the year. As Sadie reluctantly embarks on her quest for kisses, she wonders whether she will find true love or be forced wait out the rest of the year watching her secret crush from afar.
Caution: This book contains some sexually suggestive content.
I should probably warn you that there are some mild spoilers in this review.
I made it through the whole book but only because I have a really hard time not finishing a book when I've started it. There was definitely some skimming happening through some of the rougher parts. The characters, dialogue, plot, everything was just bad. Let's just forget for a second how stupid the idea is of a girl making her way through a kiss list and expecting that the type of popularity she garners will be positive. Sadie, was just ridiculous. She went from never having been kissed, maybe a little shy and thinking the kiss list was a bad idea to way over the top boy crazy and making so many poor choices along the way. She wasn't just kissing each guy on the list. She was leading guys to believe she was interested in them, purposefully making them think she was easy (sometimes being easy up to a point), blackmailing them, she even cheated (yes, I consider kissing one guys inner thigh and the waist band of his underwear and licking whipped cream off another guy's chest, etc. while she has a boyfriend as cheating), and then she acted shocked and hurt when people didn't view her as a "nice girl". She did do some nice things and she wasn't a slut and didn't deserve to be called one but come on girl, show a little self control. As long as the guy had nice abs and was on the kiss list, he could be reasonably assured of some action that went beyond the obligatory kiss , consequences be damned (with the exception of her friends' crushes. I'll give her that) . Kissing a guy just because he is hot is one thing, hands and lips all over his body is a step further, fondling his undercarriage is just...whoa, but showering with some dude you don't know, don't really have romantic interest in, and is friends with the guy you do like...too far girl, too far. It was really hard to feel sorry for her when bad things happened when she made it so easy for bad things to happen. And for a "nice girl", she wasn't much better than the mean girls. For revenge on one girl, Missy, she tricked Missy's boyfriend into being kissed and fondled by several girls and took pictures that she planned to use to humiliate Missy. She did all that but Missy is the only evil one when she gets revenge by getting a picture of Sadie doing something she willingly participated in until she found out it was a trick. Then at the end, when Missy scattered pictures of Sadie kissing each of the kiss list guys all over the commons at school with harsh words on them, it is the end of the world. These are pictures that Sadie took herself and was seriously considering printing as a collage in the year book opposite of two pictures of Missy kissing two different guys with the headline of "Most Popular Girl", sarcastic quotation marks and all. Yes, I'm sure the harsh words hurt but what did she think some people would say when they saw these pictures in the year book? Did she think being popular for kissing a lot of boys was going to be a positive thing? Really? And don't give me the double standard argument. If a dude and his buddies put together a list of hot girls that one of them kissed his way through and then planned to brag about it via pictures in the yearbook, they certainly wouldn't be praised as fun, passionate and adventurous at the end of the story.
You need more examples? Here are a couple lines from the book.
"'So if you think I'm cute, and I think you're cute,' he said in a low voice, 'doesn't that mean we should make out or something.'" That led to Sadie's first kiss ever in the gym at lunch time with a dude she didn't really know but who was on the kiss list. No, "how about a date", no, "do you want to hang out sometime" straight to "we should make out or something".
Another example?
"'Well I'm not all that interested in traveling out of state with a bunch of soccer girls,' I said in my best flirty voice. 'But if the lacrosse team was going as well, I think I could be persuaded to split a room with you.'" That led to kissing another kiss list guy that she didn't know in the gym and getting upset with him when he was moving too quickly. First, she had just thought about how she was nervous about kissing this guy because he was known for moving too quickly yet she opens with a line about getting a room with him. Second, she previously had decided to be more honest and open with the guys about the kiss list but this was how she decided to approach him.
So yeah, I didn't care for the book. I honestly probably wouldn't have thought most...some of her behavior was that big of a deal but for the fact that the whole thing was not at all romantic. It was just hot boys that she hooked up with while she had a secret crush on one (though the crush seemed to be out of sight out of mind). Isn't a little romance the point of a book like this?
Okay, I just start to read this book and after reading a few pages I am thinking " These girls are seventeen? They sound more like thirteen years olds!" So, far not good.
Okay, I am done reading and you may wonder how did I finish reading so fast. Well I skipped a whole bunch of parts. I hate when It comes to this, so that I can finish the book. I really dislike this book. It was bad. As I said before, it started as if they were 13 years old instead of 17 and then from there they jump to be...I don't know... College girls?! I don't even believe college girls would do what they were doing. Though this book do not have any sex scenes still the innuendo was there and it was bad. Sadie actions were so bad. Yuk! Yuk and Yuk!!! Do you really want to kiss a guy after ten girls already just kissed him? If you do then would be much easier if you kiss the ten girls, because you are just sharing all their saliva. Yuk! And if you are into someone and I mean really into someone, would you go about having feelings for about another 10 guys? You have feelings for someone, but every time you kiss another guy you have feelings for him too?! Come on! I would understand even if you like a guy, but feel attracted to anther, but attracted to other 10? Really?! All of this us just too much for me to wrap my head around. Huh!... Everything to me just sound cheesy and bad. Some scenes it was like an orgy without the sex. Bad...Book.
I bought this book based on the amazon sample. Unfortunately, the book started to go downhill right after the sample portion was over. This book is ridiculous, unbelievable, and the main character came across as really slutty.
Well done to having written such a wonder debut novel
I was like this the first 9 chapters?
This was mainly because I couldn't grasp onto the names of Dylan and David. Having this issue made me go insane and so confused 65% of the time however I finally grasped it.
There was 2 particular characters which grew on me (excluding Sadie) which are Sam Queen and Aaron. Sam Queen was so sweet, kind and everything you want in a boyfriend.I unknowingly grew attached to him because he was Sadie's first victim on her kiss list and he was so innocent and naive. However I felt really disappointed at him when he thought friends were more important but he slowly throughout the book redeemed himself. Good on you.
There wasn't much of a story with Aaron while the other boys got a chapter each.. kind of? He was just there at the right time. However he was mentioned continuously throughout the book.
I want to give this book more stars, the writing is not bad at all. BUT yeah here is comes the story is just horrible. The main character Sadie has never been kissed, together with her 3 BFF they make a kiss list, 10 boys that Sadie has to kiss before the school year finishes.
So far so good, but then Sadie starts kissing those boys and using them, boys get hurt, her friends are worthless, all the boys are hot and have the perfect abs, this book mentions abs on every page. I thought Sadie behavior was getting Slutty, she was so easy. The idea of the book was fun but the character and her behavior were not. What kind off friends force you to finish this kind off list? What kind of girls goes around kissing boys for nothing even brothers. What kind of girl goes around feeling up different kind off boys. This is not the kind off book I want my teen girls to read, the message is cheap and easy. If my daughters were behaving like that I would look for professional help for them. Missy's character was unreal and over the top mean.
The writer can write, I did finish this book and even though I got mad at the characters for being dumb, I did like the writing style if not for the cheesy unrealistic scenes, this could have been a great read.
I have mixed feelings regarding this book, I read the whole thing, and and some parts I was saying, out loud "REALLY"??!! So Sadie is 17 and so are her four friends, and normally I love a school book, but this isn't really very realistic, tho if you're not looking for realism, then read it. As I was saying, Sadie is a little annoying tho apparently a star FOOTBALL player... ( I hate the word soccer!) and thus obviously means she has a license to behave badly. Now I love school stories and the chance to relieve the good days is good with me, but a kiss list? Sounds good to me, but this is more than just kissing. It's a little hard to believe firstly that these girls are so inexperienced, and that the girls her friends are crushing on, are out on this said list for Sadie to smooch.... ! Anyhoo, she goes from this terribly inexperienced shy girl to a hungry boy crazy looney with a fetish for abs! Now I don't mind reading about these sexy six packs, but this book has many flaws. I could continue but this story seems a little like marmite... You with like it or don't.

Omg I love it! Did not to expect to fall in love with it, but I so did!
It's a hilarious romance novel that's not the typical romance story you'd expect. When the girls come up with the Kiss List. They come up with ten of the hottest guys in school for Sadie to kiss. Thats when the swooning and hilariousness begins. Having your first kiss gives you the confidence you need to capture a guys attention. But when you start kissing more than one guy and they feel the same way as you... well, that's when everything gets complicated.
It was such a joy and such a sweet read that had me laughing out loud and swooning at every guy. The author even managed to surprise me at some points and had me guessing. But I'm proud to admit that Aaron def captured my attention right from the very beginning shirtless moment.. LOL!
So if a romantic comedy is what your in the mood for. You won't be disappointed in this! Trust me! ;-)
Kind of all over the place...3.5 stars. I really loved this one in the beginning. It had a fun theme, sweet young love/ lust and entertaining characters. But then it became IDK weird...? What I liked: Fun theme Cute boys A great heroine ( in the beginning). Sadie was strong and honest in the beginning, not wanting to hurt anyone, starting to see how their game could affect other people. Sweet romance Good kisses! ;)
What I didn't like: Boys were seen as objects to use as the girls wanted Sadie never learned from her mistakes but just pushed through The ending was so cheesy and didn't feel believable at all To much effort on all boys EXCEPT the one she truly wanted. She always put the list first, even after she saw how bad the consequences were. So I lost my respect for the heroine...
I did finish the book and there were parts I really really loved. But the lack of character growth and the ending just didn't hold up for me.
The characters in this all annoyed me throughout, So there weren't any of them that I liked.
After a few chapters of this, I knew it wasn't going to be one I was going to enjoy. The characters were seriously irritating, and I found the story quite dull. The characters didn't change for me, and it really impacted on the story.
I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.
this was a great storyline but the book contained a lot of errors. the book is well written, there are so many emotions flying around you can't help but feel them too..it also is a perfect example of how cruel high school kids can be...if my daughter was a bit older I would have her read it so she could learn from this story..
Reread this because my friend was like it was great. Stand by my rating. I guess I am just over the teen angst. The characters were not very interesting to me and just lacked that spark that makes me want to know them in real life.
WHAT A WEAK, PATHETIC, ANNOYING AND USELESS MAIN CHARACTER. HONESTLY. HOW CAN SOMEONE BE LIKE THAT, BE SO SHY, NEVER BE KISSED AND THEN HAVE THE ATTENTION OF EVERY POPULAR GUY AT THE SCHOOL? AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED AT THE LINE UP AND FULLY PUBLIC GROPE OF GRAHAM.
Fun read. I love a good high school story. I believe that this one shows how even though you feel like you are doing something innocent not everyone will see it that way.
