Liz Everly writes, plays, and cooks in a tiny house with a big garden. She writes under a pen name to escape expectations and to embrace all possibilities. She's the author of the SAFFRON NIGHTS SERIES (e-Kensington), the EIGHT LAYS AROUND THE WORLD serial, and a contributor in THE LADY SMUT BOOK OF DARK DESIRES.
I am seriously craving chocolate and it is all Liz Everly's fault! Cravings is an intricately crafted confection of food, sex and intrigue. So delicately balanced, it is hard to describe as one specific genre - it is certainly romantic suspense but with erotic content and fascinating tidbits of culinary fact and history. I think it's safe to call it a genuinely excellent read, however.
Towards the end of the book, I found myself just wanting to finish, nothing more. A romance book, but not my cup of tea. Maybe because the storyline felt unrealistic to me.
“Humans were funny animals. In the midst of danger, of grief, or almost any strong emotion, they still wanted to screw. Was it the adrenaline rush? The comfort of skin on skin while the world went to hell?”

Cravings by Liz Everly is the second erotic romance title under the "Saffron Nights" series. It is the story of Sanj who comes to Ecuador for vacation with his friends Maeve and Jackson. But they go missing. While looking for them, he meets Sasha who is also a friend of theirs. Sanj and Sasha spend the rest of the novel trying to locate the two missing cookbook writers.
***Spoiler Alert***
All I can say is that when Maeve is finally rescued, the first thing she should have done was punch Sanj and Sasha right in the face! If they had spent a little less time hopping in and out of each others pants and eating wildly orgasmic meals consisting of chocolate covered everything, and a little more time actually looking for her, Maeve might not have spent so many days being raped and beaten!
As is the problem with most erotic fiction, Ms. Everly's characters lack development. Sam "Snake" Everidge, the antagonist, (And yes, he is called snake through most of the novel) is a faceless boogie man and when he is killed in the end, it is almost as an afterthought.
On the plus side, the writing itself is not bad, the story line, what there is of it, moves along at a good pace. In the end this novel was just not my cup of tea, or maybe Hot Chocolate.
** I received this book in exchange for an honest review. ** Overall I enjoyed the book, however, the beginning seemed drawn out, especially as I reached the end of the book and the ending was lacking in details, length and any follow up with the characters that were so detailed earlier in the book. I think that the author had a great plot and story line, just wished there were a few more details. I plan to read the first book that she has written which does include the same characters, but you didn't have to read it to understand the second book. Overall a quick read that doesn't require a lot of thinking, perfect for relaxing!
I received this copy in exchange for a review. This is my first by this author and based on what the synopsis said I have to say this book was mediocre for me. Maybe the book would have made more sense had I read the first one but I didn't. I'm not sure mixing food with sex and dominant BDSM was a real good combo. I wasn't a real fan of the ending either....a bit too tidy for me.
