It's Christmas along the coast of Maine with Jennifer and Alex, Lisa and Tank, and Blackwell and her two daughters. What initially sounds like a good idea quickly proves questionable when Blackwell herself demands to cook Christmas dinner with zero help from the others. Will she serve roughage and ice? Or a proper dinner made by someone who knows zip about cooking?
Meanwhile, love grows between Jennifer and Alex, who bring forth a major announcement. And Lisa and Tank, who have yet to take their relationship to the next level, take separate bedrooms. But with their romance riding high, the only question is how long they'll be sleeping single in a double bed....
Christina Ross began writing on nights and weekends while working as an intern for an international, iconic fashion magazine. After eight years, she left that position as an editor. Many of Christina's narratives reflect her background as an insider in the world of fashion.
Now, with a successful fashion career behind her, Christina divides her time between her apartment on Park Avenue in Manhattan and her new home along the coast of Maine. Christina loves spending quality time with her girlfriends in both locations. A lifelong animal-lover, Christina's favorite charity is the ASPCA, to which she encourages all her readers to contribute.
Annihilate Me volumes 1-5 is considered the new “adult” reading. However, it has some surprising characteristics that are not expected. Each of the volumes are full-length books, not those puny novellas. Due to the lengths of the books, the characters actually have time to develop and grow, allowing the reader to enjoy the changes. In the first book in the series, Jennifer and Alex do not even have sex. Do not think the book is without the sexual tension and overtones, because they are there in full force.
Jennifer has come to New York with her business degree to start a new life in a highly competitive field. She is struggling to get a job when one falls into her lap, but it was not the type of job she was expecting. Alexander Wenn needs a foil to keep the talons of unattached females away from him. From this the story moves on into threats, love, hatred, fear and compassion.
The novels were slow in places. There is a need to really appreciate shopping and fancy couture dresses as that takes up a great deal of the book. Alexander is very rich and needs to project a specific image so Jennifer has to be “dressed” appropriately.
I am not going to address each book specifically, because as a whole they encompass a complete story. I am going to read more of Christina Ross. She has another set of books coming out that is going to focus on Jennifer’s best friend and her love interest while allowing us to check in with Jennifer and Alex’s happy life.
I didn't know what to expect from this series which i spent the last three days reading. I must say I am very happy how this book ended. This holiday book was a good one to read since the holidays just passed. It is filled with all the normal family dramas that everyone can relate too. Having Blackwell's daughter appear was a loving and humorous addition to the dialogue. Alex oh Alex ..... swoon worthy. He is a true romantic. The love letters reminded me how true we are missing a lot by not writing them anymore. The author does a wonderful job of showing romance and chivalry sprinkle with angst. There are steamy moments but this is not a erotica romance. It has moments of sexy sexy but it's just a good romantic read. The character at this point are believable in there actions. I questioned a few things in other books of the series. But here the characters became real in thoughts and actions. The fashions described in gorgeous detail made me want to go out and shop. And oh I live to shop! Blackwell's toast was written with such great emotion I could truly imagine the scene playing out. I look forward to Lisa and Tank's story because I know we will get to see Blackwell plan the wedding. There are true LOL moments in this books. It is one book the you smile the whole time reading.
Once again I feel very cheated as the book actually ends at only 59% with over 90 minutes left, most of which is taken up with 5 chapters of the first in the Unleash Me series, the same 5 chapters that were at the end of volume 4 and that are in a book I've already downloaded to read. I'm pretty annoyed that this is allowed to happen and am very unhappy about it.
This series was amaze balls (Amazing) This is the first books I've read by this author and let me just say that she has me Hooked, Line and Sinker. I couldn't put it down, I laughed cried and felt the hope, love and despair of all the many characters. This author is beyond talented. A great novel is one that can make you feel every emotion on the pages and the details can make you imagine yourself there. I can't wait for annihilate him series to see what happens to all my favorite characters. Just read Unleash Me: Wedding Beforehand! From Blackwell's perspective It Is Divoon!
This is the holiday story of Alex & Jennifer. They go to Maine, in the state where Jennifer was born, with their friends and Blackwell, who works for Alex, and is like a mother to him. Jennifer’s best friend, Lisa, and Tank, Alex’s friend fall in love there. Blackwell and her two daughters make amends, and Alex and Jennifer announce their wedding date. Three days of working through things all together. It was a refreshing story with no negatively, but all positivity. I absolutely loved it.
I had to absolutely read this book after I finished the Annihilate Me series! This book leaves off where the Annihilate me series ends.
Jennifer and Alex has gone through a few rough months. To celebrate Christmas they invite their closest friends to their home in Maine. All of our favorite characters are in this book from Annihilate Me are in this book! I was excited to catch up with them.
I love how we continue to see love between Alex and Jennifer growing in this book. I love how we finally got to meet Barbara's daughters. I love how Barbara rocked that Christmas dinner. And I really love how thus book set us up for Tank and Lisa to continue with their love in their book.
Christmas with Alex, Jennifer, Blackwell, her 2 crazy daughters, Lisa and Tank. It was a fun read with crazy antics from Blackwell , her daughter's will drive you nuts , I wanted to tell them to shut up! Lisa and Tank begin their romance and it is steamy and romantic. Recommend with a 5 Stars rating
Continuation of this series. It leads into the "Unleashed" books next. Then I see more "Annihilate" books to follow. I'm loving the continuation, and I really like all the ups and downs in this series!
I was not a fan of annihilate me 1-4, but I read the holiday edition anyways. It was some better, but I'm not sure I understand it's purpose except to introduce Blackwell's crazy daughters and to transition into Tank and Lisa's story.
Lisa is a writer of Zombie books. Her best friend is Jennifer. They met as children in school. Best friends for years. Both went to Manhattan to for fill their dreams. Read to see what happens to Lisa.
3.75* Perfect Novella to tie together the Annihilate series and lead into Lisa and Tanks spin off series! You enjoy a funny Christmas gathering with multiple personalities coming together to share the holiday.
Another great Installment from this compelling series. Loved the humour and new characters we got to experience. I can't wait to read Tank and Lisa's book next.
"Annihilate Me volume 5" is the final book in this series. In many ways it is the perfect ending and in others it fell short due to the dado of two very irritating characters, the daughters of Mrs. Blackwell.
Alex presented Jennifer with the idea of spending Christmas in Maine and inviting Mrs. Blackwell, her daughters, Lisa and Tank. At first, Jennifer is worried about everyone agreeing to come but the closer to the time to leave Jennifer develops a new worry when she meets Barbara's two self absorbed daughters.
After a rocky start, everyone arrives at the beach. Barbara's daughters have challenged her to cook Christmas dinner. Although she does not know how to cook she is determined not to be undone. Additionally, Lisa is at a fork in the road in her relationship with Tank. Either he commits to moving forward or she may have to move on without him.
It seems this Christmas will either make or break it for some. The question is who will survive? I enjoyed the read but once again the story was only 59% of the book. The rest was dedicated to a glimpse of the spinoff series features Lisa as the main character. At this point I am not sure if I will go on to the new series.
I was one of the precious few who was able to get an ARC copy of this book as long as I gave an honest review and here it is!!! Christina had me captivated as I read this book in hours. The deeper connection of Jennifer and Alex is hot and steamy!! The introduction to Blackwell's life with her daughters was hilarious.. I just LOVE her daughters especially Daniella...she will have you laughing and shocked at the same time. I love her realness as she is just like her mother and who doesn't want a Blackwell in your life...I do!!! The blossoming of Lisa and Tank relationship will excite you and get you ready and wanting for the new series in 2014 of Unleash Me!! I have recommended Christina Ross to my co-workers who are now fans. She has become one of my favorite authors and I will forever be a true fan and so will YOU!!
I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review, which I am more than happy to give! I have become a huge fan of Christina Ross since reading Vol. 1 of the Annihilate Me series. This book was the perfect way to kind of end Alex and Jennifer's story (although I know it's not completely over and can't wait to read about Tank and Lisa's story next year in the Unleashed Me series) and have the readers become much more interested in Lisa and Tank's story. All the while introducing us to Blackwell's daughters. This book was a pure joy to read and just picturing Blackwell trying to cook a Christmas dinner, or plan to cook one, was great. Christina knocks it out of the park, once again.
I really enjoyed this book, it was easy going and no threat on their life or any real drama. I love ALex and Jennifer again in this book, they were great and once again Alex is so romantic. I loved Tank and Lisa, I am so happy that they are moving forward. Blackwell was wonderful again like usual and she was very loving. At first her girls drove me crazy, one being nasty and the other being a hippie but thank goodness this got better after a little while. I am looking forward to reading the unleash me series so I can read about Alex and Jennifer's future, I have to admit I don't love that it wasn't all tied up with a nice bow in this series but oh well. I will take a break for now and then read this next series in a little while but it was still a really good series.
