Dain has lost everything. His mom and Tara are both gone. The face that he once used as a solace, he can no longer bear to see. He’s unraveling; Akila may not be enough to hold the strands together.
For Akila watching Dain become a shadow of the guy she once knew is torture. She knows she is losing him but how can she stop it while holding on to secrets of her own? All she has to do is keep everything together long enough to stop the evil scientists that are out to sabotage their destiny.
They are both fighting their own demons but whose will destroy them first?
Casse Narome is the alter-ego of a self-proclaimed awesome weirdo who spent her childhood reading and daydreaming. As an adult that is also how she spends her time only now she writes her daydreams down for everyone to read. Casse is never serious, has been accused of wishing her life was a sitcom, laugh track and all, has a bad habit of talking out loud to herself and she is fine with being a little insane. She spends way too much time online, too much money buying books and laughing at her own jokes. You will find her on Twitter being very random and spewing her opinions. When you see her online, tell her to get back to her writing! Or just engage her in a hilarious random conversation.
Dain is lost in grief and buried in rage over the loss of his mother and the betrayal of his friends. But he can't let it drag him down because he has to save himself and those that he thought he loved. Akila is running with him, but she betrayed him too, and she's not sure she can save Dain from his anger. With the Facility after them and so many questions left unanswered it is not only a question of survival but a question of truth.
I love Dain. Let's just get that out in the open before we go any further. But in The Remade I had a serious love hate relationship with him. I definitely did not agree with some of his decisions in this book. So much so, that if I was his friend I would have smacked the ever loving crap out him! Yes I know he is grieving and is ultra pissed for what his friends did, but I personally think his behavior is coming from somewhere else... someplace deeper. (Psst, I'm not going to tell what I really think because that would give too much away)
But his actions aren't the only ones I questioned in this book. Now don't get me wrong I love all the characters in this series for different reasons, but I seemed to want to smack them a lot. I think there is a major plot twist coming, but Casse NaRome is just toying with us, slowly taunting us, giving us these little bread crumbs while she sits back and watches us squirm and debate the future of the characters. I know something major is going to happen and it is driving me freaking crazy!
The Remade is a story about heartbreak, loss, grief and survival. All the characters are battling their own demons all while trying to stay alive and discover the truth. Granted some do a better job of dealing with all these things than others, but that's all part of what makes the story interesting. The Remade is a very character driven book with characters that are easy to love, or hate. The Remade is an easy read that will allow you to focus on someone else's problems for a while. And if I had one complaint it would be that it just wasn't long enough!

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
Dain has lost his mother she died in his arms and now he is on the run with his best friend Akila. Dain is hurting and is running from his past and so is Akila. Dain and Akila have both lived past lives with other names. They have been friends through each of their lives. Dain's mother gave her life for Dain's. Akila chose to leave her boyfriend behind and go with Dain. She knew Dain needed her more now at this time than her boyfriend did.
It took me a while to realize that Dain and Akila were only friends. I actually thought at first that they were boyfriend and girlfriend. When I realized that they were only friends I kept hoping and thinking that they would begin to care more deeply and in a different way for each other. I wanted them to be together as a couple but I found out no matter how much they cared for each there just was no spark. They seemed just like the perfect couple.
I loved reading about them having past lives and that they knew each other then as well. I loved that they got another chance to do things differently or maybe even better in another life. That would be so awesome if you did and could remember your past lives and you could meet and be with your soulmate in each and every one of your lives. There are times when I do believe in reincarnation.
I have truly loved reading the first book in the series The Reborn and the second book The Remade as well. I thing I liked the second one The Remade better but they are both so good that it is really, really hard to actually pick a favorite. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I truly indeed recommend The Reborn and The Remade to anyone who loves reading about past lives and loves.
This book is a fabulous addition to any young adult book shelf. This IS book 2 in a series, I did not read book one until after this book, but it did not detract, so it is possible to read it without having read book 1. That being said it would make far more sense if you read them in order! I actually re-read this book after I read book 1 just so I could keep the story flowing. And I enjoyed it just as much the second time I read it.
There are a few surprises that will grab you. And it heads in a completely different direction than you would think it was going. Although it can always spin back around I suppose. But so far this series is keeping my interest. I love the entire aspect of past lives and being reborn to find each other again and again. I love the idea of loving someone so much that you keep coming back to earth and winding up together again.
Casse Narome has created a world which will suck you in and not let you go. There is a bit of violence in the book so if you are against violence then I just wanted to let you know that there is a touch of it here. Not an overwhelming amount and it isn't something that will make you squirm. All in all this is a well written story and I for one will continue on the story as I have access to the books.
Details/Disclaimer: Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Let me start off by saying, I LOVED THIS BOOK! At first when the book started I wasn’t sure of the direction it was taking. I made assumptions based on what I was reading only to find out I WAS WRONG! As the book begins we see Dain and Akila driving off leaving Marco and Bonnie in the dust. As the next few chapters evolved I honestly believed that Akila and Dain were getting closer, falling for each other. To be honest, I hoped they did hook up. I liked them together.
Then the curve ball hit. I was like, oh daaym!
The Remade had me hooked. I found it extremely difficult to put it down at any given point. The action never subsided taking you from one scene to the next. The clues that finally fit together in this book answered all of the questions I was left with in book one, The Reborn. At the closing of this book, you get a perfect lead in to the next installment.
Ms. Narome has created a world you can lose yourself in. You will be hard pressed to find one thread in the tapestry out of place. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.
Cheers, Casse! You definitely have a hit with this one!
Dain’s mom died and he couldn’t stand the sight of Bonnie any longer, so he grabbed Akila and took off. They went to a safe house and they are still trying to figure things out, they still do not have any real answers to what is going on around them. They do reconnect with Marco and Bonnie and the story gets really interesting, making everything still muddier. Will they ever find the answers they are looking for, will they be able to break the molds they seem to be set in? Stay tuned to find out. I guess I really need to know a lot more, I already miss the characters. There seems to be so much going on and I can say some of it confuses me. But it will be explained I am sure. I am a fan of Casse NaRome and recommend her books to my friends. We need more Casse, we just do!
Loved this! I was glad I was able to read both the first book and go right to this one. My heart broke for Dain and Akila (aka Kila). Dain is always trying to be the strong one and take care of everyone & Kila was able to be there and show him that sometimes family isn't just blood but a close feeling for another. This one had me on the edge of my seat wondering what cruel things were going to happen next and I never imagined what happened would happen. Very rarely is there an author who truly surprises me and Casse did that. I hope there is a book 3 because I want to know what will happen to the group.
First, I would like to thank the author Casse NaRome for giving me this book for an honest review. The world building was very good and interesting. The characters were well defined. I enjoyed reading this story, I look forward to reading more from Casse NaRome.
Still a cute story but I felt bad for Bonnie. She was definitely put second to akila who was very mean to her. Ended very abruptly though and did not see info for another book.
I found this and the first book's story of reincarnated couples trying to come to terms with who've they have been and who and what they want I their futures.
