Islam: Religion of Bigots

Rate this book
Barack Obama has said repeatedly that Islam is “a religion of peace.” His administration has accused those who do not agree with this proposition — or who dare mention Islamic violence against women and homicidal oppression of homosexuals — of “Islamophobia.” These are fictions and the President has done the country a fundamental disservice by promulgating them.
The truth? In Saudi Arabia, the existence of Christian churches is prohibited, along with the Bible itself; no Christian or Jew can enter Mecca or Medina lest their mere footsteps desecrate Islam’s holiest sites. In Pakistan and Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Muslim world, conversion from Islam to Christianity is punishable by death. In Iraq, Syria, Nigeria and even the President’s beloved Indonesia, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and other “infidels” often face acts of religious genocide by fundamentalists who invoke core Islamic texts and teachings to justify their actions.
In short, as Robert Spencer shows in this work, the creed of Muhammad, far from being a religion of peace, has revealed itself in the post-9/11 world to be a religion of bigotry.

His Qur’an commentary at Jihad Watch, Blogging the Qur’an, has been translated into Czech, Danish, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Spencer (MA, Religious Studies, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) has been studying Islamic theology, law, and history in depth since 1980. His work has aroused the ire of the foes of freedom and their dupes: in October 2011, Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups wrote to Homeland Security Advisor (and current CIA director) John Brennan, demanding that Spencer be removed as a trainer for the FBI and military groups, which he taught about the belief system of Islamic jihadists; Brennan immediately complied as counter-terror training materials were scrubbed of all mention of Islam and jihad. Spencer has been banned by the British government from entering the United Kingdom for pointing out accurately that Islam has doctrines of violence against unbelievers. He has been invited by name to convert to Islam by a senior member of al-Qaeda.

It's more like a pamphlet or a blog post than a book. It's very short, & does not have a very seductive writing style. It's very plain. The style is very dry. That being said the subject matter prevents it from being dull & I admire the authors unapologetic bluntness in dealing with a topic that others might feel the need to tiptoe around. He is certainly an Islamophobe, but you might want to take a close look at his profile picture before calling him a white nationalist ;P

It is obvious that, not being a book but a pamphlet, ideas and facts would not be much developed nor explained here. Alas, this publication has been rather disappointing, for not only is it unorganized and chaotic, but also reiterative and poorly written. It repeats many ideas previously (and better) tackled by the author in other publications.

Not Robert Spencer's best, to be sure. But let's not forget that, no matter how these facts are put, they keep on being true. And Mr. Spencer also interpretes them rightly; he just hasn't been able to convey them in a more organized and coherent way.

Good update to the longer book

I finished the more thorough book by Robert Spencer and wondered about his take on more current events. Short read but worth a buck.

A Good Read

A short read that serves as an introduction and eye-opener to further investigations into the topic of religious bigotry. Concise and objective.

Jesus Christ rules

Interesting facts, but the poor Islam lovers won't get there wish. Israel will be here till Jesus returns. Then we'll see if Allah is real to them when the stand before the one true God.

A scatter shot rant

For the most part nitpicks from insane radicals from the modern era. Failing to supply a clear history, or justify the wide charge made.
Possibly low expectations for pricing and length, but not effective delivering of information.

Very concise summary of the history of Islam and it's interactions with the world at large. Clearly debunks, through historical reference, the myth that "Islam is a religion of peace".

Agreed with some things, but ideas and especially facts are not really developed. More than a book it's 'pub talk' put into written form.
