Forty-something Trisha is reeling from the shock of being dumped by her husband, Alan, aka DISCWIFF (Dick in Sports Car With Foot Fetish.) Her eleven-year-old son, Robbie has taken to cuddling a favourite old toy rabbit in bed. Her almost sixteen-year-old, ‘Tazzy Devil’ of a daughter, Lizabeth, expects the clothes and lifestyle that she’s been used to and can’t understand that designer underwear is now beyond their means. Trisha now has to support her two children financially, as DISCWIFF has set up home with TITSNOBB (Tits no Brain Bimbo) and left her in a house that is about to be repossessed. Alan had neglected to tell her he hadn’t kept up the payments for the mortgage when he left, so the debt is now severely in arrears and the hounds are baying at the door. If only she’d not left all that kind of thing to Alan, but he’d never allowed her to bother her pretty little head with complicated financial issues. What a bloody fool she’d been. If only she’d known earlier how much of a mess he’d let the finances get into. If she’d realised how much Alan ….. but it was no good going over the, ‘if onlys,’ again. She lay awake every night listing them into the small hours. There were a flock of them and she counted them like other people counted sheep. If only she could get a job; if only she could pay the mortgage, the electricity bill, the rates, the school fees, the car insurance. It was humiliating to get the bus when she had a perfectly good Fiesta in the garage. If only she could get a job. If only Alan hadn’t met TITSNOBB. If only TITSNOBB had been strangled at birth! It was all that bitch’s fault! With no qualifications or experience, the job market looks bleak, but she is determined not to go under. As Trisha struggles to hold together all the threads of her unravelling life, her emotions get in a tangle when the owner of the local flower shop takes a keen interest in her, and she agrees to a date with him. Trisha feels like her life is being lived inside a pressure cooker that’s ready to blow a gasket. Something has to give, but what?
Pearl writes for the love of words and often compares herself to a ballerina performing to an empty theatre. Reader reviews are the sound of the distant audience and each one is greatly appreciated.
Flitting between genres ensures Pearl's stories are always fresh and exciting. She has a wide ranging and eclectic author list from chick lit, historical romance, to science fiction and the paranormal.
Pearl has enjoyed success, in the past, with short story fiction, winning some national competitions. Her articles and stories have been published in popular magazines, both fiction and non-fiction, but in recent years she has concentrated on full length works.
She enjoys researching the past and is particularly interested in the First and Second World Wars, where many of her historical romances are set. She also loves the freedom of writing science fiction, but likes to construct her stories around scientific facts or theories.

Trisha's husband leaves her and their two children for a younger woman. To add insult to injury, he left them seriously in debt. With no skills or experience, Trisha must find a job to financially support the household.
Although the premise of the novel is serious, this was a light, fun read with generous dosages of humor. The writing style and language is readable. All the characters, even the minor ones, are well-developed. Also, I liked that the setting was a foreign country, England, because it gave me a glimpse into another culture.
The plot was realistic and flowed smoothly. The end was conclusive and satisfying.
