April 2096 has arrived. Despite the commotion they were involved in, Tatsuya and Miyuki safely passed all of their classes and are now returning as juniors for another semester. In light of Tatsuya's accomplishments, a magic engineering curriculum has been established, granting him a new lease on proper student life. With his new classes and his position as acting student council vice president, Tatsuya is certain that this year for sure, he'll be able to enjoy a peaceful time at school with his sister...until three freshmen form the elite Numbered families start raising hell in their First High debut!
This is a book which connects other books. It sets a few things up for future resolution, and there's a fairly good (if complex and a little hard to follow) fight sequence at the end, but when it comes down to it, nothing much happens. I was expecting more from various characters, new and old, so I came away with a slightly disappointed feeling. However, taken as part of the series, Vol 12 isn't bad, it's just not as good as some of the others.
A new school year has begun and with it come new students and a new curriculum: engineering speciality. There is a bit of a high school drama (not the romantic kind) with a dash of media trouble. Nothing world shattering which is both good and bad. The lack of action is a bit of a disappointment, but love some of the new characters and the addition of more normal high schoolers (especially the Saegusa Twins and Takuma Shippou). I am not an overly big fan of the addition of Hagane Tomitsuka. It raises the question were he was last year because if he is that skilled it is a bit unlikely he remained at the background through all events of the previous year. The media plot feels a bit weak, and the author admits as much in the afterword. Still, I enjoyed it and it is a good intermezzo. Some times even Tatsuya gets a more or less quiet high school life ;)
Enjoyed this one. It was nice to finally meet Mayumi's sisters.
Not much to pick apart in this one, but theres a fight near the end of the book that is a little tricky to understand. All of the character names are similar like steve, stephen, stefan for example and the magic concepts are a little difficult to understand, but overall a small thing in a good light novel.
Anime ist super. Bücher sind ok. Buch war ein bischen schwer zu lesen weil alles sehr theoretisch war und man wirklich gut aufpassen muss. Es war aber schön mehr zu erfahren als im Anime und da hört es ja davor auf.
It's average. I picked it up after the anime ended and I was really expecting it to be way better since it really sells so much in japan, but not really hooked up in it. This one is a pass.
