Legacy Lane
Angie Hunter left Hart's Crossing to go to college and never looked back. Working for a big city newspaper, she built a name for herself as an outstanding reporter. When Angie's widowed mother needs care following hip surgery, Angie is more than ready to hire a nurse rather than spend time in that antiquated little town. But when she is passed over for a promotion at the paper, an angry Angie heads home.
Little does she know that this homecoming is the start of some important, life-changing events. As she struggles to reconcile with her mother, Angie discovers that perhaps home is where the heart is after all.

Legacy Lane was very good. It was a short read, but it still had a good message and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I liked how the MC grew throughout the story. It was predictable, but I didn't mind it. All in all, I enjoyed the read.

Legacy Lane by Robin Lee Hatcher is a delightful Christian contemporary tale about family, love and priorities. The reader witnesses’ characters living out their faith. “Jesus wasn’t merely an example for her to live by… Jesus was real.” Knowing Jesus is about having a relationship with Him. It is knowing that He walks beside us every step of the way. Bad things may still happen but Jesus walks beside us through it all.
Prayer is talking to Jesus. “Help Angie catch a glimpse of you.” Prayer is natural as breathing. When we know Jesus, we want our loved ones to know Him too. Prayer is powerful. “Our church’s prayer chain has been storming the gates of heaven.” Where two or three are gathered, Jesus is there too.
We need to have correct priorities. Wealth, positions and possessions do not make us rich. Relationships with Jesus make us rich beyond measure.
The beauty of a small town is that everyone knows your name. In the middle of a big city, surrounded by many people can be a lonely place. People are often rushing by. In a small town, we can make time to smell the flowers.

Last week, a friend passed this little book on to me. These recent days have been unsettling ones, and I could not get settled into a story long enough to connect. Legacy Lane by Robin Lee Hatcher was just the tonic I needed. It’s a contemporary story about family. What a comfort to read about characters who face their problems by relying on their faith. The reader witnesses’ characters living out their faith.
Setting priorities is a key theme of Legacy Lane. A family emergency brought Angie Hunter back home, and that decision was a life-changer. I loved the homey, small town setting.
At 139 pages, this book can easily be read in a day. Who else needs a dose of “feel good?”

I really enjoyed this short and sweet offering from Robin Lee Hatcher, she does a good job of introducing readers to the town of Hart's Crossing without being overly descriptive, and still having a story line to follow. Angie was an interesting character follow, especially with seeing the strain between her and her mother because of her mother's faith, however, her mother is both loving and persistent when it comes to the Gospel. This is mainly a story of reconciliation and sometimes what it takes to reach that point, but it is also about community and faith. I am looking forward to my next trip to Hart's Crossing, Idaho in the upcoming months! 4/5 Stars.

It was a Hallmark/GAF movie in book form. Short and sweet… a small town girl left her tiny hometown after highschool, and 17 years later comes back to help her elderly mother recover from knee surgery. She and her mother make ammends for past mistakes, and everyone ends up happy. She even has a budding romance and a newfound faith.
A cozy, quick read. It’s a good story, but very predictable.

After starting this book, I realized I’d read it before. It was a simple, quick read with a nice message. A little less in-depth than Ms. Hatcher’s other books. I appreciate that the storyline is clean and respectable. No foul language, nothing x-rated. I plan on reading through the series.

SUMMARY: Angie Hunter left Hart’s Crossing for college and never looked back. So when her widowed mother needs care following surgery, Angie is more than ready to hire a nurse rather than return to her antiquated hometown. Francine Hunter is both excited and nervous about having her daughter home for the next two months. She sees this as her chance to make a new connection with her estranged daughter. Will she be able to nudge Angie toward faith without overdoing it? Or will Angie pack up and leave for a new job as soon as Francine has recovered?
REVIEW: A great road map to faith in this short, easy to read novel. A heartwarming story about returning home and finding family and faith. Angie's willingness to search for a personal faith which she doubted she could prove found her drawing closer and closer to God and finding true meaning for her life rather than the success and loneliness her career had brought her. This was a wonderful introduction to the Harts Crossing series. My only complaint was that I wasn't ready for this book to end so abruptly! I guess that means I'd better start book 2 in the series.

short story. I didn't think that there was too much of an ending. Angie and her parents were the ideal family until a car accident takes her father from her. Her mother then finds that being a Christian isn't just a religion, but a relationship with Jesus. She tries to force her new discovery on her daughter and ends up causing her to turn away instead. Angie now lives in california but come home to Idaho to help her mother recover from knee surgery. In the process in being in her home town she discovers that people have changed and they are more content with life because of their relationship with God.

I absolutely loved this book and was excited to find it will be a series. Angie's questions of God were ones I've heard repeatedly. I love that Robin Lee Hatcher took the time to answer these in such a heart warming setting. I wanted to visit Hart's Crossing just to breathe in the fresh air with Angie. I can't wait to see how Angie's quest unfolds through the remainder of the series. I think Legacy Lane was a great way to pull the reader in and invite them to walk the journey of Angie's search for God.

This is a short story that basically is a set up or introduction to the series. We get to meet the MC and her mother, towns people and get the back story. At the end, she is going to stay there for a while. That is basically it. If you plan to keep going back to the subsequent books and "visiting" with the MC and the town, you will want to read this. The sermonizing was heavy handed but maybe subsequent books will be more subtle. I think the author may be aiming for a Jan Karon kind of Mitford experience but without JK's skill level.
I do believe there is a large audience for this type of book and for those who like them, I would recommend but I probably will not go back again.

God works in mysterious ways!
God does work in mysterious ways! He can change people's heart in very unusual ways, just as he did in Angie's. This book was an easy read, but makes you think about how you are dealing with the thinks of daily life. I look forward to reading more of Ms Hatcher's books.

Short story (only 139 pages) but packs a wealth of Christian values and lessons. Could the characters have been better developed, could the plot have been more involved - all yes, possibly. However, it was a good start on the introduction to the Hart Crossing series (this is book #1). Yes, I will read more by this author.

Another good book by Robin
This book is so true. How when we are young we can't wait to leave home and find the good life. Then after we find it and a few years later we discover it is not what we think. End up going back to our roots and connecting with God. Learning how to slow down and enjoy everyone in life. Legacy Lane was a wonderful short story.

I love Robin Lee Hatcher, so I am probably biased, but this was a very enjoyable and fast read. No spoilers, because the story is left with all loose ends. I like Angie’s character and hope she remains prominent in the rest of the series. Also, the mother has so much wisdom on when to hold back and when to speak- very relatable when parenting adult children. Great story to start a series.

This is a very easy read with sweet characters. The main character, Angie Hunter, quits her job after being passed over for a promotion. She goes home to help her widowed mother recover from knee surgery. Interactions with long lost friends and as well as Mom, help her to reassess her life and long term goals.

I didn’t realize this was a novella when I started. I find it a little challenging to get into a story so short. I just start to like the characters and enjoy their challenges and their ways to overcome and it’s over. Good story-wish it was longer.

Definitely enjoyed the book and the emerging revelation of Angie finding relationship with Jesus….sad that her and Bill’s beginning remains unresolved…I want to get the rest of the books in the series now, and I hope it finishes!
