Audial telepath Kylie Cain works for a black ops branch of the CIA (PSI: Psychic Sensory Intelligence). Now tasked with the biggest challenge of her life when a faction of rogue operatives who call themselves WON (World Order Now) kidnap eleven-year-old Hope Mitchell, a powerful girl who may be the link to other worlds, Kylie feels immediately drawn to the girl's energy, and vows to save her.
Kylie's elite team of psychic spies soon discover that not only is Hope Mitchell an audial telepath, too, but the girl has another special gift - a gift that could change the courses of the past, present and future. A gift that could open up worlds...and destroy them.

I liked the idea behind this story. I saw someone describe it as James Bond with psychic powers which proved to be very apt. However I was not a fan of the writing style which tended to be very choppy and superficial. Plus it ended too abruptly even for a book which is the first part of a series. I might not seek out part two.
An okay book to start the series with, this secretive government group specializes in using their psychic abilities to solve crimes and hunt down the bad guys who wish to do our country harm. This first in the series gives us a good background of the main character, Kylie, who can "hear" conversations all over the world. Her partners in her unit also have the ability to see into the future or go back and see into the past.
I liked the character of Kylie and thought her's was the best developed of any of the other characters. Unfortunately, we only get to know the others through little glimpses of their personalities here and there. That may be best, because in this book, we are left wondering who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. I just miss that the authors are trying to give us a background romance story and when you don't have a feel for anyone but the main character, it's hard to care if she ends up with anyone.
This book felt too short. It hopped from one chase scene to the next, and overall it was a short book. For 1429 kb, with excerpts from other books at the end, this really is a quick read. I was lucky enough to get this book right before the second came out so I could hop from this one to the next. There really isn't a good ending to this first book- it goes directly into the next and leaves us with some unanswered questions, more than what I like in an adventure/thriller. There is a 3rd book coming and I almost wish I would have been able to read all back to back, as I think that would have given me a feeling of one really good book instead of having it feel like it was one big book chopped into thirds.
If you are looking for a light, quick read, that is filled with chase and action scenes, not a lot of filler or back story, you will like this one. But if you're looking for something with more meat, something more substantial, then there are other books that would be better for you. Not a bad book but there are a lot better out there.
This trilogy is basically what would appear to be the size of one average-sized novel, split into three books. And this first story ends at what feels like the end of a chapter instead of the end of a book in a series. Is it worth it? Not to me, neither price-wise nor with the chopped stories. Perhaps once the third book comes out they’ll do another release with all three stories in it.
The basis of this first book—a psychic group within the CIA that is so secret it’s believed that not even the president is aware it exists—is an intriguing idea. A young girl with strong psychic abilities is kidnapped and the group is sent to rescue her before she’s forced to do something that could change history.
I did like the characters and what they can do as well as the situations they face. The story is told from two points of view. Hope, the young girl that was kidnapped, and Kylie, a woman within the PSI group sent to rescue Hope. Both have the ability to hear conversations anywhere and there is some commonality in their experiences.
We really don’t know a whole lot about any of them, and at this point, not even sure who to trust. That’s both cool and part of the problem. We don’t know enough about the characters much less the relationship and back history of the PSI group, and that lack of depth makes it feel like we’re being told a story instead of experiencing it while reading the book. Perhaps that changes as the story progresses in future releases.
I won’t be picking up the next installment, but if they ever come out with all three stories released into one book, I would like to see what happens.
I was undecided between 3 and 4 on this one. I chose 4 because the concept is fascinating. Having a secret psychic branch in the government has been an interesting possibility for some time (The Men who Stare at Goats?).
Kylie seems to be a strong female character but I hate the sexual harassment that happens too often in this book. Come on, when she's injured and stitched in her thigh, it's abuse to even consider having sex with her. There could be sexual tension in a story without remarks that make it appear she's constantly on her back in the minds of her male co-workers. Where's the respect for her abilities?
The ending seemed a little abrupt for me. I felt like I'd just seen an old cliffhanger in the old time cinemas. It seemed the story could have had more meat to it and the characters could have been developed more. Maybe there's a book that came before this one and I missed it? If so, it would explain the lack of background information on the main characters.
3.25* This would have been better without the romantic angle as I really dislike love triangles! Lots of repetition and repeating the same event from a different POV. I'll give book 2 a try since it is K/U.
3-3.5. Good, interesting start to a new series. As such, ends with some storylines finished and others only beginning. Fairly seamless work from a duo of authors, voice didn’t change.
Good storyline. However, characters were not well developed or fleshed out. Scenes were choppy, with character motivation basic. I wasn't rooting for anyone.
Good read three people who have special abilities that help children with abilities and are fixing to experience time travel and they don't know who to trust including each other
Really great, fast & fun ride! I really loved the psychic aspect. It was fascinating to me. I loved how each character had their own talents were grouped together so they complimented & enhanced each other. I also liked how their talents were like parts of their characters.
I loved the sexual tension & all of the fun flirting that was there. I loved that there was depth to it, as well. I respected that. Loved the characters in so many ways. The humor was great, as was the intelligence & dialogue. It was a really total blast. There was also some intense, edge of your seat action with great surprises thrown in.
I cannot wrap my brain around how some people have such talent that they can spin a complex web of themes together to enthrall their audience. Man, I wish I had that talent. I don't but I can certainly appreciate this gift in others like I did in this book. I bow to the authors!
I blew through this book in 1 day. That's rare for me but I got so caught up in it. I loved how I got to see what a few of the characters were thinking & feeling. I did wish that I could go also go inside of Aidan, Noah & Simms' heads as well. There was 1 plot point that I was not happy with but I loved everything else so much that I decided to suspend my belief & go for the ride. I'm glad I did.
I knew going in that this book was part of a series but I was seriously disappointed when it ended! I was hoping each book in the series would resolve an entire mystery &/or maybe use a different character's POV, etc. BUT this book only solved part of this immense web of mysteries. Now, how am I supposed to go on without the next book being ready to answer my questions!? I recommend this book!
Kylie is part of a special team in the CIA called PSI - Psychic Sensory Intelligence... It is for people with special gifts. Kylie is an Audial which means she can hear conversations from thousands of miles away. They are sent on a mission to find a child who is also an Audial. Hope. Well when Kylie, Noah and Ayden find hope they learn secrets that their boss would rather stay hidden. They learn that Hope is being held captive by the very same woman who had kidnapped Kylie when she was a child.
My Opinion:
I loved this! I love any book that has a paranormal aspect in it. I have loved everything that I have read by both J.R. Rain and A.K. Alexander and this book was no different. In my opinion this was a thrilling book filled with deceit, a bit of romance and danger at every turn. I definitely recommend reading.
Very interesting start to a trilogy! A villain who funds terrorist attacks, befriends drug lords and is into anything illegal include human slavery gotta make for an exciting read. The main character is a kiss ass tequila-drinking female federal agent who's tougher than I can even imagine being. This particular team she's part of is a branch of the CIA consisting of people with unique abilities. Psychic abilities. Nice!
I enjoyed delving into the fringe science and the talk of parallel universes. I did get lost a little during the explanation but that's all my fault not the authors. It was dumbed down best as they could. :)
Super fast paced and non-stop action can be expected if you pick this one up. Its short, only 130 pages so its a fast read. Will definitely read #2 soon or wait for the trilogy to come out all at once. I'm invested and want to find out how things go.
First let me say that I love J.R.Rain's books, but have never read his co-author A.K. Alexander's. This book holds together well, is very suspenseful and thought provoking. Like the primary characters and the plot is intriguing. Read the book in one sitting. Would rate the book much higher if not for the book ending at a high point of suspense. Hate series that do this. Other series of Rain don't use this gimmick to get the reader to continue buying the next two books of the Trilogy at a higher price(Hear No Evil was .99). Please Mr. Rain, to prevent from losing me as a reader... Stop.
'Hear No Evil' is an awesome first book to what looks like a great trilogy, 'The PSI Trilogy'. The storyline was quite creative with the 'gifts' each character had. The way the story played out was full on action and suspense. For being a quick read, it held a lot. The characters were all great. Kylie is a kick-ass lead. I loved her determination, her straightforwardness and her stubbornness. Ayden and Noah were a great addition to the team. They were complete opposites, but complimented Kylie as a team. Hope is a rare 10 year old girl with some super cool 'gifts'. She's definitely strong willed. I look forward to reading more. A great add to your tbr list.
I love anything written by J R Rain. Impossible to put down with that sharp edge intensity that does not allow you to put the book down and wakes you up at 4 am to finish said book. This book has CIA espionage, counterintelligence, science fiction all rolled into one. I cannot wait for the next book to be released. Great reading for those 15 years and older.
Wow! That ride was fast and furious! This story pulled me in from the beginning. Now I can't wait for the next book. Full of adventure intrigue, and sexual energy, this is my new favorite genre. Details and character building just enough to get you involved, but not so much that you get bored! This story might just have bumped Samantha Moon and Jim Knighthorse as my favorite J.R. Rain series!
This book is part of a trilogy but I wish that there was more to it. It was a fun read but I think that the book would be much better if it was fleshed out a bit more. I enjoyed the characters and their gifts. It did include some interesting twists and intriguing situations but I was looking for more.
WOW!! What a great ride this book was. The story grabbed me from the beginning and did not want to put the book down. This story is filled with adventure, intrigue, and sexual tension. Ready for the next book in the trilogy. I recommend this book!
James bond has nothing on this group of PSI spys. fast paced exciting. must read list for sure. I love these two authors and together they are a force to be reckoned with.
