Indelible Love #3

Unlikely Attraction: Delaney's Story

Rate this book
Being a part of the Reid family, Delaney Grace Reid has seen her share of dreams come true. Her grandmother began the fairy tale and most recently, her cousin Jake found his true love and married her in a picturesque wedding on the Fourth of July.

Delaney has always been a realistic dreamer. She knew from an early age that Donovan Taylor was the only man she wanted to marry and never wavered in her twenty-two years of life. Not much different from her favorite fictional heroine, Cinderella, her initial "courtship" with Donovan paralleled Cinderella's relationship with the wicked step-sisters and wicked step-mother, combined. Also like Cinderella, she looked upon each day with a smile and hoped that he'd notice her and become her prince one day. Even with the help of "Jaq," "Gus," and "Bruno," (namely, Jake, Emily, and the Reid family), Donovan never actualizes his feelings for Delaney, and at the end of their ball, she reluctantly chooses to look elsewhere for her prince.

At last the glass slipper is found, and Donovan comes to realize what's been lost and chases after our princess in no less a fairy tale-fashion. He courts her through Europe and proves to her that a "dream is a wish your heart makes," and that he will make all her dreams come true. Should Delaney believe in this dream come true or should she beware of enemies lurking about to squash her final hope?

Unlikely Attraction is for the young at heart who wished upon a star, once upon a time. It will make your heart feel like it's falling in love for the very first time, and when not feeling giddy with joy, tears of heartache will flow. This book is for lovers and dreamers who know that their prince will come no matter the obstacle before them. For princesses who believe that their glass slipper is half-full, this is the story for you. Half-empty princesses need not download.

I started writing back in Dec of 2009 after I saw an interview with Stephenie Meyers. She told Oprah that she always had stories in her head and that struck a chord with me. Whenever I drive, I have all kinds of stories circulating in my mind. Generally, I am the star of this story and many wacky things happen. Of course, I make the story quite complimentary and beneficial to me. I guess you could say Meyers channeled my head case into a novel.

I am first a wife and a mother, as well as a restauranteur and a caterer. Writing is my last profession and a late-found one. I have a B.A. and an M.Ed from UCLA (yes, just like Emily) and taught 1st grade for four years till I had my first child, a son. Two years later, I had my daughter and the two kids ran my life till they both started school. My husband and I opened a restaurant in LA when we first got married and have been in the food service industry for almost 17 years.

I think I’ve always been a foodie at heart and though it sounds strange, loving food did not have anything to do with opening up a restaurant. That was all my husband’s idea. I didn’t even know I could cook till I got married. And then I discovered, I love cooking! I love everything related to food. Eating, first, cooking second, cleaning a definite last. I could do without the cleaning from the prep work and the mound of dishes created after a meal. But, that’s a whole other blog in and of itself. Whenever we plan a family trip, and especially when my husband and I go on a couple’s trip, it’s based around what we want to eat, or which restaurants we want to visit. Hubby and I did a trip to Austin one summer just to eat BBQ. The trip to Rome was for pasta, Tokyo was for ramen and sushi, and in Paris, we gorged on treats from all the beautiful patisseries. The two best meals of my life were at Taillevent and Joel Robuchon in Paris (I am amending this last sentence as I think the best meal of my life was the one I recently had at Masa in NYC). All of these places and restaurants sound familiar? :) NYC is our favorite city (and yes, Emily’s favorite city as well) for dining. But… I digress.

Even with the crazy schedule, I hope to keep writing. Entwined, my third novel, is out on Amazon and Smashwords, iBooks, Nook, and Kobo. And for those of you who have been with me from the beginning know that Indelible Lovin’ – Max & Jane’s Story is done and also sold at the e-retailers listed above, in two volumes. I am currently working on another story titled, Unlikely Attraction, as well as another Indelible Lovin’ blog story. I hope to see many more Reiders come Dec. 2013, when the new blog is unveiled.

Thank you for visiting my website and I am truly humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love Indelible Love and Entwined have received. Check back for updates on my writings, travels, and everything Reid/Taylor/Davis.

DW you outdid yourself with this one. I have been on this journey since Emily's story, then Jake's, and of course Max and Jane's and I have anxiously awaited this culmination of Unlikely Attraction. What I loved about this story, is even though as an avid "Reider", I knew many of the events and the outcome, it was still "fresh" with this one, and my emotions were all over the place in anticipation of the outcome. During the Mourning phase, my heart literally ached for Laney, and I found myself getting impatient for Donovan to come to his senses. But in the New Day phase, I was finding myself getting a little frustrated with Laney in the way she handled the whole Michael situation. However, all this was so worth it in the Knight finale, because "Dapper Don" was wonderful, and the scenes with their intimacy was so endearing and witty-I just loved it. This author is so clever with her play on words, her detail and accuracy and beautiful descriptive nature of places and events, you feel like you are right there. It was also wonderful to see scenes we had experienced in previous editions, play out from the different point of view; it was like a refreshing deja vu. Now, this is a long book, but I was so engaged, that it flew by, and in all honesty, there were so many things that need to be addressed that it needed that time and attention. DW is the master of setting the scene and providing a visual that puts you right there with the characters. Her books are an experience to be enjoyed.

This story is best appreciated and enjoyed to it's fullest, if read after at least Max and Jane's two volumes because you will get the back story of the characters and will truly be vested in all the Reid's/Taylor's, but truly you need to enjoy the entire series so that it will capture you just like it has me. I loved the sneak peek into the fun that is yet to come from the voice of Donovan himself, and I can't wait to get his version of the events; and Nick what can I say, I did not see that little rascal behind all the gentle charm we've seen in previous editions. This series is just the gift that keeps on giving, and I seriously don't want to see it end. There is still so much that we need to experience and a few more Reid's that have not found true love yet, so DW, keep them coming.

Delaney and Donovan! The real life fairytale. As I described their relationship in my NPA review, they are a fairytale with broken glass slippers and more than enough clocks striking midnight.

I love how this story starts out. Delaney at age 11 writing in her private journal. The love for Donovan Taylor, who is 10 years her senior, and best friend of her cousin Jake.

This is a must read book! I don't want to go too in depth, because this is a book that you have to read, and I will guarantee you will love every word of it. You will feel Delaney's heart breaking, you will understand all of her tears, and you will also understand why she is deeply in love with Mr. Donovan Taylor.

Sadly this story doesn't start off with their relationship being all that amazing, you will kind of want to slap Donovan. But you do get to see small parts where you see him starting to fall in love with her. It is obvious to everyone, even the reader of the story, that they are madly in love. They are just the only ones who can't see it.

Delaney and Donovan are one of my top 5 favorite book couples. I would go through all that heartbreak Delaney went through for more than 10 years just to have a man like Donovan Taylor loving me in the end.

You need to buy this book and read it, because it will completely captivate you. I read this book in one seating because I couldn't put it down to save my life!

Ummmmmmm. I was soooo very excited to read this and was very disappointed. This is not what I want to write but it is my honest opinion. I was not at all happy with this book. It made me dislike Laney with a passion. I did not like the person she became, how she pined over Donovan and took him back at a the drop of a dime, how hearts were broken in the process. Im all for true love and I love me some Dw Cee, but the version of Laney that was in this book made me upset. I felt like she wasn't strong enough on her own. She was such a brave, smart woman and she turned to mush every time her now husband said the wrong thing, didn't show up and so on. It also did nothing for Donovan. I fell out of love with the both of them early in the book and it was hard for me to continue. I wound up skipping pages then paragraphs and overall skimming at the end. I understand the happy ending I wanted them to be together but I felt Laney in this book let DONOVAN define who she was as a person and that was always what I loved about her books is that the woman loved hard and went after what they wanted but they remained independent and strong. Laney was a wimp and Donovan a jerk until the final chapters. Jake and Emily still reign supreme and now im moving on to Nick and Bee.

Goodness gracious! I am sad that I finish this book! I love every series of Mrs D.W. Cee books! For this book I literally had a countdown. This book did not disappointed at all! I laugh, cry, and smile throughout the whole book. When reading these series I got to go into the Reid's world. I fell in love with Delaney story from the first preview!I love the format of this book because you can see their point of view! Not only do Mrs. Cee keep you update on her up coming books but she gives us bit of pieces of up coming books. She also keep her fans interest while waiting for her next book. She goes beyond any authors I had read! She is devoted to her fan bases. It like Christmas morning when I get to read tee books. It makes you believe that there is a special guy out there ad fairy tales. This is worth reading and buying. It is my weakness and my de-stressor from college life. I can't wait for the next series! Donovan side of the story and Aunt Bee/Nick!

I thought no one could compare with Jake Reid but boy was I wrong! Donovan Taylor definitely gave Jake a run for his money in the greatest man of all time category. I really fell in love with Delaney when I read about her growing up, especially growing up a Reid. I think every girl can sympathize with her long time crush because we've all been there a time or two.

Reading about her heartache when she discovered that Donovan though only of her as a little girl and nothing else, really broke my heart. To love someone that much and not have them return your feelings just kills your spirit. That didn't stop Laney though, she fought for what she wanted and never gave up, no matter how much heartbreak she had to endure. She persevered and in the end, she got her Happily Ever After.

Absolutely LOVED this book. Donovan and Jake are the ideal guys!

I had waited patiently for this story of Delaney and Donovan. It is a beautiful story. This book takes the reader or (Reider) for Ms. Cee's fans, on an emotional rollercoaster. It is at heart, a fairytale love story with a very long, rocky road to HEA. The story evokes memories and emotions for the reader. As I read the book, I thought, "Yea, been there-felt like that." I laughed, I cried and I remembered how you feel when you first fall in love foreveahhhh. This book might be best read after all of the other Reid/Taylor novels. It is possible to read as a stand alone as DW gives the readers a great deal of backstory on her characters. Read the book and
remember how much you liked fairytales when you were younger.

This is my favorite book of DW Cee's Reid family books. We meet Delaney at age 10 when she meets the man of her dreams Donovan Taylor. She decides he is the man for her at that point and knows he is her future husband. Delaney is the younger cousin of Jake, Jane and Nick Reid and Donovan is Jakes best friend. We met both of these characters in previous books and DW weaves parts of the other books into this story so we get to not only learn Delaney's story, but fill in some spaces concerning Max and Jane and Jake and Emily.
DW split this book into 3 sections each one chronicling a different section of Laney's life from her childhood to age 23.
As we devoted DW Cee fans say, this is a Good Reid.

I truly LOVED this story!!!! I always love HEA and this one was just that. From reiding the other books, we already see that Laney has been in love with Donovan all her life and even if we kind of look into Donovan's past, we do kind of see he has always had a thing for this younger Reid. I loved Laney's story and how she just kept falling for Donovan even though most of the time he was just "pushing" her away with his silent responses. Thankfully Donovan gets the wake up call he needs to see his future is with Laney. Love their wedding and all that happens at the end. Cannot wait for Donovan's POV!!!!!!

This is one of the best books I have every read, it makes you laugh, cry, get so angry that you want to slap the character for not opening his eyes and closing his mouth.

First of all you need to read DW Cee's other books in this so that you know who's who of the family and who belongs with who.

This book is truly a beautiful story with a fairy tale of young love which grows into one of the most beautiful love stories.

You will not be disappointed in this story. I have read all of DW Cee's books and this is by far my very favorite.

This is a cute, funny, sweet story of a young girl Delaney Reid knowing what she wants early in life and going after her dreams. We get to see Delaney grow up from a very smart child to a very smart, diversely accomplished young woman. Throughout her childhood she holds onto her dream of Love and as a young woman she has to decide if she still wants the same Love she's been waiting for her whole life. D.W. Cee takes us through Europe and this story is full of angst, twists and turns of emotions.

I've been aching to know about Delaney and Donovan's story since I've read about their mishaps during Indelible Love: Max & Jane's Story II.

Donovan's hot and cold antics will definitely get on your nerves and he always send mixed signals toward Delaney, and a girl can only take so much.

It's a beautiful story of family, love, heartbreak, and drama. You're gonna fall in love with this story because of the lovable characters, specially Jake and Emily's children

To be honest I love me some DW Cee but this book is just a pain. I did not like how Delaney was so weak! how she forgave so easily? AND DONOVAN COMES BACK OUT OF NO WHERE? It seemed to fake towards the end. I really wanted her to get back with Michael. I felt sorry for that lad. Donovan did not show enough or prove enough for my liking. Loved Emily and jake , but this book made jane sound like a total bitch. Overall Delaney was too weak , and Donovan was oblivious.

I've loved all of the Reid books so far, and this one was no exception! With a few remaining grammar issues I can't bring myself to give the book 5 stars...but if a 4.5 were an option it would definitely be there! The only thing I didn't care for in the story was it seemed a little rushed in the end after how long the book was. I'm hoping Donovan's story fills in some more details!
