My 6 year old aspiring vet loved this book. The words were simple and easy to follow. I did not like the end where it made it sound like you can just be a vet. Would have rather they mentioned that vets are doctors who need school. This made it seem like throwing on a lab coat and helping out makes you a vet.

Barbie takes her dog to the vet, but the vet is so overwhelmed by patients that she enlists Barbie's help. Although Barbie appears to be a stripper or perhaps a Vegas showgirl, she manages the animals okay.

This book is about a Barbie who came to the vet with her puppy, and the puppy was okay, and then Barbie became a vet too and she helped all the animals. She helped a cat, she helped a horse, she helped dogs, and she helped a birdie and a bunny. At the end, they all shouted "Hooray for Barbie!"

My favorite part was the picture where there was a Barbie who came with her cats to the vet, but the cats weren't in the box, so they searched for the cats. A dog found cats in a flower pot, the Barbie found cats under the table, and the other Barbie found them on top of the shelf. It was funny.

I liked this book a lot. I also like the cover, because the kitty is wearing a crown and a necklace, and isn't that silly?

This Barbie book has two to four words per pages which makes this a great beginners books. It is simply about Barbie being a vet for a day. It is geared towards ages 4-6 years old. I would give to one of my students if they were a reluctant readers. It has basically no plot line however, which is something I did not like.

Good for my 6 yr old

My daughter has has trouble reading in first grade and I've struggled to find age appropriate books and ones that she enjoys. This book was fun to read and simple. It's leveled for pre k to Kind. So I started her know bc she's behind but just really enjoyed this!

While I am not a fan of the Barbie series books (not much of a plot, dialogue, weak characters...) my preschooler loves them mainly I believe due to the vivid illustrations and glamorous Barbie fashion and accessories. 1 Star from Mom, 5 from the kid, so we split the difference to 3 stars.

I read a bunch of books to my daughter today. I love using my local libraries online borrow system, it's so simple to use. Victoria loved this book (age 4). She was able to follow along, she even guessed a couple words. The pictures were very well done and they went with the story perfectly.

This was a really good book to practice reading with my soon to be 1st. grader. I liked that it was with her read level and that she also learned about a new career. It was definitely fun and educational for her age. I would definitely recommend this book .

It forgets or fails to be mentioned at the end that it takes schooling, and some experience to become a vet but it's otherwise an ok start..


Also almost all of the characters are dressed up like they have hot dates or are staring in a fashion show, and few have everyday clothes on (only 3). Both of the little girls look like they have makeup on, and don't look natural at all... Even the woman dressed right for the setting has her face covered in makeup...Ken even looks like he might have blush or some kind of toner on his face, and only the little boy definitely has no makeup on. Even the veterinarian has a party dress on, and not something more practical for her job.

The words themselves are good for a starting reader however, and so it isn't a complete waste of a read.

For a first reader, this is great. My 7 year old was turned off by a lot of early readers (Frog and Toad looked humdrum, Dr Seuss was too long, etc.), but she was delighted by this Barbie one. I would have loved Dick and Jane or something classic, but WHO CARES SHE'S FINALLY READING!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter liked this one and probably more so because we kept finding the little dog on every page and I made her laugh every time I pointed it out lol.
She was having a good time identifying words too and could name all the letters.

In this easy reader Barbie takes her pets to the vet but instead ends up helping out because the vet is overwhelmed. It shows different animals the vet takes care of, not just dogs and cats. Barbie is still barbie but now with a labcoat. Little girls who love barbie and animals will love this one. Focuses on short vowel words.

Ughhhhhh, Barbie, you try to hard to be all useful and empowered and everything, but you FAIL. Barbie helps out her vet pal who's totally overwhelmed by lots and lots of animal patients. A white coat and POOF she's a labtech.
