A salve for existential Angst

As a person reaches the age ed of seniority, their thoughts turn more and more to ask why am I here. For believers the question is what does God expect of me? For skeptics, though that question remains, just phrased differently, what is expected of me. We want to leave a legacy, to be remembered for having achieved something that contributed to making the word a better place. This is part of the human experience. I think this makes for a very interesting read; the author makes a succinct summation in his final chapter.

I will recommend it specifically to Douglas Gresham, the stepson of C S. Lewis, who, with his wife Merrie, is on a pilgrimage of similar ilk. I'd also recommend it people like myself who eschew pop culture books on how to achieve happiness.

This second book by Wendell E. Mettey is about the center for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster relief. It tells the story of working to find a center, failure and final success as he attempts to serve needy mankind in a Christ-like manner. This is an excellent story.

I very much enjoyed this story of M25M's growth, progression, and providence. This is not a spoiler, but the point was made that we often don't recognize God's Providence except in hindsight. I agree totally. This ministry is remarkably similar to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief here in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as other organizations, I'm sure. Anyway, this book was hard to put down.

An interesting retelling of the building and growth of Matthew 25 Ministries. God's role in the ministry is highlighted all along the way.
