Victor Summers has accepted a position at the Ragingwood Manor as a paid companion for David Ragingwood, son of the Master. As Victor settles in for his first night, a violent storm rocks the mansion and someone stands at the foot of his bed. Who is it? What do they want? And what is Victor's real job? With hidden passages, flickering candles, and secrets around each corner, Victor is unsure what is lurking in the shadows of Ragingwood and what they really want of him.
With a fair amount of mystery around the spooky house and its somewhat weird inhabitants, this is the story of Victor who takes the position as paid companion to one David Ragingwood and ends up wondering what he's let himself in for. The atmosphere is somewhat Gothic, from the house to the odd visit Victor receives his first night there, and I really liked diving into the details of what was going on – secret passages and all.
Victor is a very polite young man sometime at the beginning of the 20th century. He is well educated, likes to read, but has no money of his own. So he accepts the position as paid companion to, what he thinks, must be a young boy. Imagine his surprise when the young boy turns out to be a very attractive young man almost his own age. Not only that, but the house and remainder of the family are not at all what he expected. During the storm that rages outside the first night he is there, he begins to uncover what is really going on in the dark, old mansion with the very sturdy wrought iron fence.
If you like slightly spooky historicals, with all the pomp and slightly stilted language they are supposed to come with, if you enjoy stories about mysteries and old houses that hide more than you'd think, and if you're looking for a short, fun read with just a touch of scary, the you will probably enjoy this short story.

Victor Summers is starting his new job at the prestigious Ragingwood Manor as companion to the elder Ragingwoods son, David. He’s surprised when he arrives to find he will be treated like a member of the family instead of a mere servant or companion. His first night at the manor there is a violent storm and he awakes to find someone in his bed. A heated night of passion with someone just a little more hairy than normal leaves Victor sated, happy and confused. He sets out to figure out who shared his bed and pleasured him last night.
This was just a cute story with a paranormal edge. There is a lot of content for just a few pages, I’d like to see more of the characters in this short. You learn that Victor is an orphan, but I’d like more on that story. You learn that the Ragingwood’s have a secret, but I’d like more on that story as well. Regardless, this was a very sexy little short, I highly recommend!
It was interest. Perhaps would be better as a longer story, but a good Halloween story. Victor goes to a remote place as companion to David. David visits Victor secretly the first night but because he was hairy, Victor doesn't realize it was him. The second night, Victor trying to find out how he had a visitor finds a secret passage. He finds David getting treatment and misinterprets what's going on. He frees David and ends up infected as well. As he had already fallen for David, Victor agrees to join the family.
