Cover & Title - 3 out of 5 Favorite Character - Carly
Please excuse my rant & swearing.
I know that before 50SOG that some books must of had kink & at least one must of had a rich troubled bastard as a lead. The problem is the now that 50SOG is mega successful that I cannot freaking search for a new book without being recommended some shitty 50SOG rip of book. 50SOG isn't even that good in my opinion so fuck only know's why so many authors want to copy the story.
There was nothing new in this book at all, it is like same shit different day but instead it is same shit different cover. I found the way it was written in the third person mind numbing, i did not connect with the story or characters at all. The characters are also really freaking annoying.. Ava i mean Regina is a shy little virgin so why the hell is she turning in to a raving kinkster? Wearing anal plugs & having anal sex (her 2 or 3 time having sex EVER) like it is no big deal makes no sense for her character! The anal scene was not even hot, i mean seriously if you read it you will understand while i was reading it thinking.. wait she didn't even enjoy that or did she? My brain was so numb at the point that i had started to fantasize about having a 50SOG copycat book funeral pyre in my garden. Sebastian.. *sigh* what can i actually say that is positive about him... uh... nothing. Oh and seriously if i read one more book where a guy has to fuck the female up the ass to "claim/posses her" i am going to scream!
I would not recommend or read more by this author.
Sebastian (the principal character; I love that name btw like Sebastian Stan grrr) was one of the most stupid men I've ever read about. His attitude was NONSENSE. He just met her and he was like "change your shoes" "but I like my--" "change your shoes NOW!" what the fuck? He wants her to dress likes he wants all the time and if she doesn't, he punishes her. WHAT THE FUCK?
This "novel" is not about love, it's just awkward sex. LIKE REALLY AWKWARD SEX. One night, he undresses her, he told her to lie on bed, then he start to touch her. She came. Then, he put his dick on her vagina and OH SHE WAS A VIRGIN! Why didn't you say that earlier? and that's it. Not even a feeling or hot kisses. So weird and cold.
And then the magical moment comes and HE FELL IN LOVE why? I don't know maybe because she does everything he says ???
This is not hot. There is no romance. It's just a lot of words trying to tell a stupid story. AWFUL.
I hate, hate, hate DNF-ing a book. I also hate writing a 'review' for a book that I DNF. Most of the time when I DNF a book, I don't write a review. I stop reading the book and move onto something else. But there are times where I have to let my feelings known. And this is one of those times.
I read the blurb of The Librarian and decided to give it a try. It sounded Fifty Shade-ish but I liked the Bettie Page spin and felt that it would make the book slightly different from FSoG. Mind you, I haven't read FSoG but have heard so much about it and have read so many reviews that I felt like I've read it.
The Librarian is the most boring erotic romance I've ever read. I stopped reading the book at the 42% mark. After Sebastian and Regina had sex. It was the sex scene that finally made me stop reading this book! The sex scene was unimaginative, flat and uninspiring. But let's start at the beginning.
Sebastian is a billionaire (shocker) in his early 30s and he is for some unexplained reason drawn to Regina after seeing her for all of 10 seconds. Regina is from a small town in Pennsylvania. She moved to NY to work at the NYPL. She is a virgin and unaware of her looks. She has a Bettie Page haircut because she messed up cutting her own bangs (stupid ass reason) so of course, everyone tells her she looks like Bettie Page. Only thing is, she has no idea who Bettie Page is. Regina has a roommate that parties, has loud, wild sex and is rich. She doesn't interact with her roommate much because Regina is socially inept. Even though she went to college, she doesn't know how to act around other human beings. One day at the library, Regina goes into a part that is off-limits. This is where she catches Sebastian having sex. Regina is turned on by the sight (again, shocker) but chastises herself and vows to tell someone what she saw. She never gets the chance because the next day at a meeting, she finds out that the defiler of that off-limits room is none other than Sebastian Barnes and that his family donated that wing. And Regina will be working with him on some fundraiser for the library.
Sebastian immediately starts telling Regina what to wear, orders her around about her clothing and basically takes over her life. Regina feebly protests but eventually gives in because she's attracted to Sebastian and blah, blah, blah.
The Librarian was boring but I kept reading to see if the plot would pick up and become more interesting. I didn't understand why Sebastian was attracted to Regina. The story is told from Regina's 3rd person POV and we never know Sebastian's motives or what he sees in her. There was no sexual tension. None. No build up. Nada. Sebastian came off as a spoiled rich playboy and Regina was his new toy. And why virginal Regina gave into Sebastian's demands, I have no idea.
I'm all for hopping on the Fifty Shades bandwagon but at least make it interesting and sexy. This book failed on so many levels for me. The Librarian would have been much more interesting if Regina was a librarian by day and a Bettie Page domme by night. Now that's a book!
The day has come where I have given my first five stars to an erotic book. I have to be honest, this book deserves the five stars, because it doesn't center around sex so much as the other books I have read. This book honestly lived up to its name as being a book about a young woman, Regina, who finds herself. Not just in a guy, either, but finds herself in her.
All Regina Finch has ever wanted was to work at the New York Public Library, so when she gets the job of her dreams things are looking up for her. But her world is shifted when she meets a sexy billionaire who will awaken her in ways she would have never thought.
The reason, I think, that this book stands out among the other erotic literature that's rising, is that this is very character driven. There's no crazy plots, there's no in-serious-need-of-therapy man (even though he's rich), and most importantly, there's no weak female.
I like Regina because she stood up for what she believes in. She was never influenced by others and she knew herself.
The romance I saw was very real. It grew and it should actual problems that real life couples could go through and not some bizarre kidnap-almost-murdered-almost-whatever. There is drama, though, so don't think that nothing happens.
Overall, this story was great. I read it in one sitting and I laughed and had a good time.
Hopefully without sounding a bit too cliche or an overused description at this point, this book has a very Fiftyish feeling. No, I’m not saying that because it’s BDSM. I think it’s just the premise of the damaged rich boy with a crazy past, and enough power to make anything happen who falls in love with a simple, inexperienced and somewhat naive girl, which seems to work well. But that can also be bad because after a while these kinds of themes are starting to get repetitive (for me at least) even when it’s a good book. Which this was.
But Logan Belle brought something new to the table, which appealed to me. The setting of this book being New York, where anything can happen, and a library environment was unique and truly came to life in the book. The setting was so much a part of this story it was almost a character. And then there’s the old time glamour and charm by incorporating Bettie Page and the symbolism of her pictures and influence. I find that these two elements set the story apart. Of course it helps that I love photography and love when an erotic book incorporates tasteful photography as part of the storyline. And sex in the library helps too. :)
Then there’s the characters. Regina comes from somewhat of a small town, where she left her mom behind to come to the Big Apple to chase her dream, working at the New York Public Library. At the beginning I thought Regina was way too naive to be living in today’s age. It was almost as if she had crawled from under a rock. But as she starts opening up and wanting to experience things, her character actually fit with the BDSM lifestyle and being a submissive. In the end, she had grown a backbone and wasn’t just Sebastian’s “toy”.
Sebastian on the other hand was over the top. Like I said before, very rich and powerful. I know some people love that in and of itself in a hero. My only complaint in that respect is that it felt at times as if he didn’t have much common sense or connection with how the world worked when it didn’t revolve around his finger. I wouldn’t say he’s the best Dom I’ve ever read about, but he was definitely very sexy and knew his way around the bedroom. But my favorite part has to be how sweet and attentive he was. He knows how to make a woman feel special. He took care of Regina and spoiled her to the max.
Could there have been a little more character development? Yes, probably. I still don’t understand how Sebastian got to be his kinky self. We briefly read about his issues with his parents and not much else. I feel like we could’ve dug deeper. Also, I couldn’t figure out how Regina ended up living with Carly (who supposedly comes from a family with money and quite influential in the City). Some questions, were definitely left unanswered.
The secondary characters were also great. I loved Carly and Alex, they brought some much needed spunk to the story.
This whole story sucked me in from the beginning. I finished this book in less than 24 hours because once you start it, you can’t put it down. Can’t say that I’ve done that in a while.
I don't typically read and review erotic fiction, so I feel a little out of my element here. I have a few questions first, actually. Should I blast a book for being unrealistic? Isn't that the nature of erotica? What about criticizing it for being unoriginal? Don't people tend to read erotica for specific themes?
Well, here is a quote that tells you exactly what this book is: "It's okay, Regina," he said. I know it feels good to let me be in control. You don't have to think about anything... Surrender to me, and see how you like it."
That's pretty much the whole book. Do the details really matter? People craving something after 50 Shades (from what I understand; I didn't even crack the cover on those) will probably enjoy it although I'm not sure this will be much different.
The context is a bit interesting, and depressing really. A new librarian is hired (with no experience!) at the New York Public Library but ends up working at the desk. There are multiple mentions of libraries losing funding and librarianship becoming obscure. I'm thinking the author is an unemployed librarian, just maybe. This level of detail was not really central to the story, neither was the detailed description of the library. The same level of detail was applied to every single outfit Regina wears. Maybe that is simply another typical erotic fiction thing that I just don't have the experience to know about.
The setting felt forced. I know everyone fantasizes about the naughty librarian but this was more of a naive-girl out of her element than she was really a librarian. There is an awkward moment where she's listing her credentials, and I was embarrassed for her. Having an MLS is not exactly the same....
I also found the characterizations of Regina and Sebastian (oh yes, soap opera names, we know what genre we're in) to be ridiculous. I wouldn't want to give them away but the details about Sebastian's past that were revealed made him seem pitiful, and less like the alluring, wealthy, powerful man the author wanted him to be. The bonding between the two also seemed forced.
Heh. I guess "forced" is to be expected in a bdsm novel.
Knygoje man įdomiausia dalis buvo pati pradžia. Tai bibliotekos aprašymas - Niujorko viešoji biblioteka. Neįtikėtino grožio salės, drožiniai, kolonos, balto marmuro židinys, reljefinės lubos, skulptūros, žalvariniai sietynai. Įdomu įsivaizduoti, ir pasieškoti internete nuotraukų. Bet knyga visai ne apie tai..
Skausmas sugretinamas malonumui. Įspūdžio man nepaliko jokio. Vietomis nuobodu.
SENSUOUS BDSM ROMANCE Regina Finch had dreamed of becoming a librarian always. Now one month since graduating with a degree in library and information science, she has got her dream job in the New York Public library. Although disappointed with her assigned position working at the delivery desk it was still a big thrill to be doing what she had wanted for so long.
When Regina enters one of the private rooms, and discovers a naked couple having sex, she is shocked to her core. But at the same time something about this scene before her is strangely arousing. When the man makes eye contact with her she runs from the room. When Regina's boss Sloan Caldwell tells Regina she wants her to take notes in a meeting, Regina is shocked when the same guy she saw having sex walks in. Sebastian Barnes is president of the board of trustees. Well known photographer and playboy. When Sebastian asks Regina to stay behind after the meeting, little does she know that this is the beginning of something that Regina could never had imagined even in her wildest dreams.
This is a first read for me by this author, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. There have been many BDSM romances written after the release of "that" book! I have read quite a few, but most fail quite spectacularly. But here we have a well written and polished effort. The characters are very well drawn. I particularly liked Regina, although she was a small town girl, an innocent in the big city. She was not totally overwhelmed and remained true to herself. She was nobody's fool. Sebastian was a dream he might be a Dom, but he certainly had a vulnerable side to him.
I liked the way the author showed us the building of the relationship between the two. With all the ups and downs along the way. The sex scenes were very hot and steamy. The side characters including Sloan Caldwell, Regina's caustic and jealous boss. Added just the right amount of drama. I also liked Carly, Regina's flatmate. Again the contrast between their different personalities worked well.
This is a very polished and sophisticated written story. I received ARC from the publisher
So, here we go with another erotic story toying with submissives and the underground lifestyle they choose to live. But this story was different and I enjoyed reading the romance between the two characters. After all, the main character is a librarian - instant hook for me. They come from completely different backgrounds - she's a good girl type who doesn't know the package she has so to speak and he's rich and powerful and has an eye for fashion - and some scenes were humorous, such as him getting her a new book bag. She's completely unaware of her lack of fashion sense and everyone else knows it all.
Unlike many BDSM romance stories, this was less about the actual scenes themselves and the control act that follows such scenes, but about the blossoming love story of the two people involved. Sebastian seemed real, too, and he didn't play many mind games with her. But in the end, I liked Regina much more than Sebastian.
Bettie Page comes into play with Regina's physical resemblance to her, as well as her ability to eventually have fun and be in command of her own sexuality. The ending was too convenient and came way too fast as well as her 'transformation'. From nervous virgin to comfortably-dominated vixen in just a few months? Dang, Sebastian, you're good. And I thought the publisher's intro didn't match the book. Regina didn't discover Bettie Page on her own as it seems to allude to. Her coworker remarked on her looks at the beginning and Sebastian wanted her to be 'a Bettie' by way of owning her own desires at the end.
All in all, it was a quick and well-written read and if you are looking for edgier romance with a happy ending, this would probably fit the bill well.
All Regina Finch has ever wanted was to be a Librarian. She is social awkward and naive. She finally had her dreams come true. After graduating she moved to New York, away from her controlling Mother, got a room mate Carly and her dream job at the New York Public Library. The place that holds happy memories for her as her father used to take her there before he passed. She is not happy to be placed at the Returns desk by her evil boss the Ice Queen.. I mean Sloan. But it is her dream job so she sucks it up.
Wandering around the library one day she enters into a "private room" and is shocked to see a man having sex with a woman. Right there in front of her. In the Library. She is more shocked that she can't stop watching... and even more shocked when he looks over an smirks at her!
She hurries away and doesn't know what to do about it so sits on it for a few days.
Sloan then asks her to come to the board meeting and take notes.
While in the meeting she is introduced to the man who was having sex. His name is Sebastian Barnes, a professional photographer, socialite playboy and also a big deal at the Library.
Sebastian can't stop thinking about Regina, he knows what type of person she is and exactly what she needs, so he decides to take things into his own hands. Starting with a present.
A coffee table of Bettie Page photo's. He leaves it on her desk with a post it stating your "homework" and that he would pick her up for dinner at 6. A command not a request.
For those of us who do not know who Bettie Page is (I had to google but as soon as I saw the photo's I knew who she was) this is her.
He then takes her to dinner that night. Before dinner he takes her to a hotel room where there is a stylist there to help her with her new lingerie, dress, shoes and makeup. (He is a gentleman and waits in the lobby for her) Regina has no idea what to make of all this and decides to go through with it for the night as she doesn't want to think WHAT IF? down the road.
During dinner not so subtly, he tells her that he is Dom and wants her to become his submissive. He also wants to take her photo. Just like Bettie Page.
He does not want to rush her but to simply spend time with her and see how it goes. After working her down a bit and showering her with presents and great sex. Regina agrees to the Sub/Dom relationship but refuses the photos.
It all starts from there.
A whole new world of sexual exploration, ups and downs, crazy ex's, sex clubs, many many firsts. Including the Photoshoot she finally agrees too.
Ok So honest thoughts.. I liked it, did I love it? No. It still needs some work, there was a few spelling mistakes. Wordsstucktogether.
Weird things happening with the writing and the spacing so that it looked like this and you didn't understand why
I felt that a bit more character developing could have helped in regards to Regina and Sebastian. All the other BDSM books I have read the Dom usually explains why he does things if the Sub is not in that world. Which Regina was not.
He also should have realized she was a virgin. She was not only socially naive she was sexually naive as well.
I did like that he spoiled her rotten with shoes and lingerie etc but he still felt a bit cold to me.
Regina on the other hand annoyed me at times, she just did everything he told her too.. I KNOW I KNOW THAT'S WHAT A SUB DOES. But it just seemed too much that she didn't question any of it. Especially when Sloan fired her... You can't get fired for missing one day of work! UNFAIR DISMISSAL ANYONE!? and she didn't fight very hard to keep her dream job so that pissed me off!
Carly was a great secondary character. Seemed very worldly as not much shocked her.
So all in all it was an ok book. I hope they fix the few probs before its released though.
*On a final note. I think A LOT of people are going to compare this to 50 Shades of Grey. Not EVERY NOVEL that have BDSM in it should be compared to it. I read Lorelei James Cowboy Casanova before Christian Grey was even thought of. I don't compare everything to that. I just think you need to have an open mind when reading about this Sexual preference, if you go in comparing it it's just unfair to the author.
**ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review**
Regina always dreamed of working as a librarian. When younger often traveled with her father from Pennsylvania to New York and and they loved to visit the famous Public Library. Her father was a great architect and loved to take her to the city's famous buildings. After finishing her Master's degree, she got a job in the dreamed place and moved there. Her father had died when she was 8 years old, and her mother stayed in Pensilvannia.
In the city, she could rent a room close to work. Her roommate was a little crazy. Daughter of wealthy parents, she seemed to know just shop and swap boyfriend, but she was harmless. At work the things were not as harmless as well.
Starting with her boss, Sloan. A manipulator who knew nothing of the matter for which she worked, but she had achieved the position to have the right "connections". Then had the head of the Council, Sebastian Barnes. The gorgeous, tall, dark, super well dressed, and she had caught him f *** a woman in one of the private visitaions room of the library. From that moment, Regina's life has not been the same.
There are several events that ultimately put Regina and Sebastian always close at work, and with it, their relationship begins to heat up. What I can say about that is: Sebastian taught to Regina a new world. A world which a nerd student had never even heard of. And the constant comparisons that both he, as her co-worker, Alex, did it with style "pin-up" Bettie Page, mainly because of her bangs, and showed where all headed. The story involves, even when at times you think through predictable what will happen.
There's nothing on author's site about if the book has continued, but honestly I think it deserved. The way in which the story ends several questions remain in the air, such as the relationship between Regina and her mother(since her father died and she remained with her mother, her mother became dependent on her, controlling. And when her mother goes to visit her in New York, she not only knew the daughter's work, even as Sebastian mentioned), there is the question of the photos that Sebastian took of her (as a professional editorial fashion photographer, he had as hobby taking sexy models pics and there is the possibility that he released a book with such photos), not to mention how would go on their relationship from there (and when her mother know about Sebastian and photos?). Aff .. a lot that was going on in my mind when I finished reading the book.
Although these "what if ..." in the end, I liked the story, and the author, who actually called Jamie Brenner. A book to read without the pretension of to find a lot of new things there. Even the fact of using a naïve librarian who just becoming a pin-up, is not new. But still, I thought it was cute.
Okay I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this one or not because I have not yet read any book that has to do with librarians; but I got it from NetGalley and it was erotic so I figured why not! I actually was surprised and really did enjoy it! I will never look at libraries the same again It has BDSM but it isn’t overbearing so those who are still dipping their toes into it this would be an okay read. It is the typical millionaire who wants the girl and the girl resists. To be honest no matter how many times I read these types of books I always seem to enjoy them. But it is always fun to read about a girl who is new to the submission and is learning it is everything they never knew they wanted. Just like when Sebastian is trying to explain the intensity of Dominance/Submission because she is not understanding why she is feeling the way she does…
“If it’s not intense, why do it? At least, that’s the way I feel.” (S)
“I can’t believe that being physically uncomfortable can be turned into feeling good. its just…strange.” (R)
“But it isn’t, if you think about it. we have to experience contrast to feel anything fully. sadness or happiness, work or relaxation, solitude or connection with other people what is one without the other? We wouldn’t know.” (S)
I have never heard it explained so well. I have read a lot of BDSM books and some of them do a good job explaining the ways of the lifestyle for those who are more vanilla and are reading these stories and would like more of an understanding as to why people choose this lifestyle.
I enjoyed watching this quiet blend in with the crowd kind of girl find herself and realize that yes she is beautiful and desirable. I would love to find out that there is another to follow-up with this one to let us know what exactly happens or even if there was not going to be another book to have put an epilogue at the ending to help wrap everything up because I did feel like I was left with questions still.. but I did enjoy her writing. To be completely honest I loved the fact that as I was reading I didn’t have to worry about “her folds” coming up because it didn’t or “his member”. I mean I am not an author by any means and I don’t turn a book away just because of that but I realized after I finished that not once did those explanations of their body parts come up. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author!
I absolutely loved this book. You hear me say things are a fast read and this one was. I kind of like how nerdy Regina is and how she is so not what you expect to be the girl who gets the hot guy. I also loved the fact that she wants to be a librarian because I'd love to be one too. Had I known how much I would grow to love books I feel like I would have a different career. And I feel like had I been pushed more in high school to read, I would have taken a much different route in life. Sadly though, kids aren't encouraged to love reading right from the get go and learn how amazing libraries are. *sigh*
Anyways.
I loved this book. I really liked Sebastian but I feel like we don't learn about why he's such a freak so that makes me hopeful for a sequel. I will also say that I feel like the ending was rushed? I'm not against a rushed ending but the book ended with such a cliff hanger that I sat there thinking, "Really? That's it? Where are the rest of the pages?!" because I felt like Regina and Sebastian were just at the spot where it gets good. Not that they didn't have interesting scenes and the development of something important, but I felt like it could have gone so much further. Basically there were so many loose ends at the end of the book that I really feel like if there isn't some kind of follow up, that it would be a huge disappointment.
I love how naive and awkward Regina is and I love how her friend/roommate Carly is trying to help her with both of these. And while this isn't really what I expected for a BDSM novel, I did really like the romantic scenes because I feel like I really could have related to Regina in a lot of ways and so I just really liked her. So I am basically pleading with Logan Belle to give us a follow up. I cannot stress that enough. But in the end, I do recommend this book and I look forward to reading more of Logan's work.
What does a mousy small town girl have in common with a rich city boy? A love of books and all things kinky. Regina is the proverbial good girl who focused on school and working towards her dream job. Her dream job is to be a librarian in New York City. Sebastian is one of the board members at the library and he's taken an interest in this shy unassuming girl.
This story was recommended to me by a reader of my blog. While their email was a tad rude, it intrigued me. When I found this offered on edelweiss, I had to try it out. I am very glad I did. This story is well crafted and an enjoyable read. It is more an erotic journey than a BDSM fantasy.
Ms. Belle crafts a beautiful story of sexual awakening. Regina's metamorphosis from a wallflower to a Bettie Page sex bomb is a treat to experience. The character development in this story is what really makes it so good. Sure the sexual fetishes touched upon are delightful, but the way Regina comes across is really the focus. Regina is an every day girl who faces real life problems. She is swept off her feet by a man who thrusts her into a world of high fashion, back stabbing and more importantly, sexual submission.
The way the sexual submission is portrayed here is fabulous. While Sebastian is a Dom more focused on D/s, he's not a perfect one. Nor is he some abusive domineering jerk playing Dom. His life is complicated with past hurts, but it doesn't define who he is as a Dom. He's a better person for his experiences and his own shortcomings. The jaded male rejuvenated by a lovely ingenue is a trope which can go sideways. Ms. Belle breathes fresh air into this type of storyline and leaves the reader with a satisfying happily ever after romance. This book is recommended to kinky readers who enjoy male characters who know what they want and are willing to seduce the woman to get it.
Initial Thoughts: I was given an ARC of this novel through NetGalley. Also, a book about a librarian? Sold.
The Pros: I absolutely adored that Regina was a librarian. People see librarians as grandmother type figures that are uptight and stuffy. This book blew that stereotype out of the water.
The reverence that the author paid the New York Public Library was amazing. I felt like I was right there in the library with Regina and Sebastian.
The author touched on the all too real subject of our nation's libraries closing. This is a SERIOUS issue and more attention needs to be paid to it.
I loved the character of Carly. In the beginning of the book I didn't care for her much, but as the book goes on and her relationship with Regina grows, I also grew to love her.
The relationship between Regina and Sebastian was not your typical BDSM relationship that you see in many novels these days. The padlock Tiffany necklace instead of a collar was a nice touch.
The Cons: While I feel like Regina's character was well developed, I thought Sebastian's was underdeveloped.
The ending felt cut off and short. It left a lot of questions unanswered.
I didn't like the name Regina. Maybe because I had a nun in school named Sister Regina. Who knows.
The Wrap Up: 4/5 This was not your typical romance novel and I loved it. I will definitely be checking out other books by this author.
Regina has more than one reason for moving to the Big Apple after one month of graduating from college. One reason is to land a job at NYC library, the one place she has always wanted to work at and the second was to get away from her mother. Regina’s mother has always harped on her about men being not worth the distraction. Due to Regina’s father passing away when she was eight from heart condition. Regina’s mother always has a need to be in connection with Regina and Regina disposes of her cell phone to eliminate her from constant “nagging”. With that being said Regina has never had a true concept idea of what a relationship is or should be and is very naïve. One day she walks in to a private room in the library and sees an exploit between people, one of them being Sebastian, the president of the board of trustees for the library. Things take off from there in this enjoyable, fast past and hard to put down book. Ms. Logan Belle is a new to me author and was amazed by how this story was written and developed. If you liked Fifty Shades of Grey or Reflected in You then this is a book you may want to read as well.
This is the story of a naive girl who gets a job working at the NYC Public Library and meets the man of her dreams. She is a virgin at the beginning of the story, hops into bed with Mr. Wonderful, discovers her submissive side and learns that she likes a little pain with her pleasure. Sound familiar? This book was published with all of those 50 Shades readers in mind, but I will say that the writing is definitely better... just not as steamy. I liked the main character MUCH better in this book. She had a bit more depth, I just wished it could have had more in so many ways. The reader never truly gets to see how much Sebastian really cares for this girl. All through the book he says he doesn't want a serious, committed relationship and then, ta-da, happy ending. I feel like the book was enjoyable enough; I just kept expecting more depth, more character development, more plot. MORE. This is a great draft, but to make the book more than just a 50 Shades rip-off, I'd say the author needs a few more rewrites.
I recieved The Librarian from Net Galley, and read it a week ago,i have given it a few days to sink in before writing my review.
The Librarian is very well written, it is easy to read and very clear on its story line. It brushes over a lot of subjects that are usually sub related to the BDSM scene, but it’s not an in your face graphic version of a BDSM book, so it is great for readers being introduced to the topic. However I thought the main character Regina was a weak character. She was new to the scene and was told she disobeyed commands and made her master unhappy, yet she never asked to clear up what were the rules and just accepted that she was in the wrong. If she was trying to get punished or was misbehaving on purpose I would have gotten it, but she just went along with every thing. The sub characters were a lot of fun and I loved the reference to Bettie Page.
I am giving this book a 3.5 stars because it is a great read, I just find the main character a little weak.
I enjoyed this book a lot .This is a heart warming love story between Regina and Sebastian. It is written beautifully. What I like about THE LIBRARIAN is the fact that it is a love story that has BDSM in it. The love between Sebastian and Regina unfolds as the story progresses. The secondary characters are also interesting . It was interesting how Regina who was a shy virgin at the beginning was influenced by photos of Bettie Page and matured to the point of compromising and letting Sebastian photograph her.Thank you NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for my copy. It is my pleasure to leave this review.
