Second read review (5 stars):

After taking the course with Eben Pagan and Wyatt Woodmslal and learning that the biggest obstacles to learning are "I disagree" and "I know this already", along with having the possibility of a nascent and underexploited science in NLP dangled in front of me, I was much more open on this reading of the book. Subsequently, I've chosen to update the rating for this book from 3 stars to 5 because I believe it renders value that I'll go into detail about shortly. If you're looking for a good primer on the self-image or future visualization portion of psycho-cybernetics, this is a good place to start.

The author's main points are as follows:
-The future doesn't exist. The past doesn't exist. There is really only now. Every moment in the past that we've acted in was 'now' when it happened. Every moment in the future that we think about will be 'now' when we're able to impact them directly. We exhaust our energies thinking about moments that are not now and that we have no ability to impact and then do not have sufficient energy to work on now.
-Because the past does not substantively exist, the possibilities offered now do not have any constraints introduced by it.
-We create our realities on a subconscious level when we choose not to create them deliberately.
-Visualization is a necessary step to deliberate creation.
-We are attracting the outcomes we experience through the energy we give off through what we're willing to believe about ourselves and the world.
-The subconscious mind must obey commands that have been passed to it. The conscious mind, and the seat of our beliefs, acts as a validator that is always running, checking incoming commands against the current reality map.
-The current reality map can and needs to be updated
-Humans vibrate energetically. I know how this point sounds, but for the time being let's parse this as "humans have a total configuration of beliefs, thoughts, attitudes and actions that have commonalities and causal links. At all levels of physical expression, from neurons firing off to hitting a baseball with a bat, these different levels of abstraction can be considered to be literal energetic vibrations."
-The mental/ emotional/ psychological/ social environment that we put ourselves in can directly impact the frequency we vibrate at.
-Everyone has a silent partner in the form of their subconscious mind.
-The silent partner, also referred to as the Essential Silent Partner (ESP), is always on, always listening and always attempting to send signals to us to guide us towards what it is that we want.
-We can clear up interference wit the ESP and also train it to send us particular kinds of signals at particular moments where we are consciously unsure of the direction to take next. (I believe this is what most people have trained themselves to do in praying, to be honest)
-Your emotional state is a part of your vibratory pattern. To manage it, generate a "flip switch" that you can use to make yourself happy. Basically, think happy thoughts for 15 seconds and your state will remain at that setting persistently for a time.
-Maintain focused attention on what you want and avoid giving attention to what you don't want.
-Your true heart's desires are the source of all of the motivation, energy and focus you'll ever need to succeed. Without that deep desire, you won't be able to overcome the obstacles that come up in the pursuit of any goal. With them, no obstacle will be sufficient to stop you.
-It is important to practice detachment with respect to your goals. They will manifest, just not in the time or place of your choosing, and you can interrupt their manifestation by focusing on the fact that it isn't happening how you want it to (interfering with your vibrations).

Lastly, the author gives a specific procedure for deliberate creation. He gives a series of questions to ask yourself to sort out what you want from what is your heart's desire. In step 1 you answer the following questions, listing as man things as you can think of (publishing because I haven't found them anywhere):

What would I like to have in my life that I don't have right now?
What would I love to do if there were no obstacles?
If money were not a consideration what would I like to do?
What makes me happy?
What makes me laugh?
What stirs me emotionally in a positive way?
What do I always daydream about doing, having or being?
What would I like to do to hero others?
What strengths, characteristics or personality traits would I like that I don't have now?
What type of physical appearance have I always wanted to develop?
What do I want from my spouse and children?
What do I want from others?
What do my best friend and I do for fun?
What did I used to do that I enjoyed that I don't do now?

Once you've answered those questions, go back over the answers and use the following question to get at the root of those wants and identify the emotional needs that you want satisfied:

If I had that or was that or could do that, how would that make me feel?

Then rate your responses on a scale of 0-100, 0 being you don't want it at all and 100 being something like you can't live without it. The things at the top of the scale (~100) are your true heart's desires. They are what you should pursue, are motivated to pursue and will succeed at. Everything else will only get you half way. Once you've established this vision for what you really want in your life, there's another part of the exercise. You list all of the reasons you "can't" achieve your goal. Then you answer the following 3 questions in a grid format:

Reasons I can't reach my goal
What am I willing to give up to achieve my goal?
What are the pros of that?
What are the cons of that?

I think this is valuable enough that I believe a workbook should be made out of it at a minimum and a program should be created with it in mind at an optimum. Do recommend.

First read review (3 stars):

Let us assume, for the sake of argument, that thoughts shape reality. Let us assume that what we hold subconsciously, in a particular mood, manifests in our lives. Now, let's also treat arguments based on efficacy, not content. Finally, let's assume that anyone anywhere is able to shape their thoughts consciously enough to hold them, quasi-uninterrupted, for a period of time.

Given all of that, this is probably a very good book that teaches a lot of useful information. Unfortunately, while I recognize the points above as being true, I cannot, for the life of me, find it in myself to practice this stuff. Maybe affirmations work. Maybe we can program ourselves to subconsciously perform differently. Maybe so. But that's no reason to start talking about the cosmic consciousness and to spend a good chunk of the book doing it. I'm really, really trying to be open-minded but I wish there was a book like this for people that don't want to go down the rabbit hole to get into.

I only have the option of audio books. This joker makes a full audio book and then leaves off the final chapter. No links to it, no explanation...just not there. I am really unhappy about this. You Sir get an F. The concepts were good. But this is just wrong. Just sad. The audio was over 5hours long.
