"Time Alone With God: A Devotional Study for Discovering Renewed Hope in God," is a book of devotions, that have been compiled into book form, so rather than reading a devotion every day, this book will become a personal Bible study, between you and God. The book will become a study that will take you on a journey, from a point of weakness or suffering, right on through, to the time of discovering renewed hope in God.
I was raised in a small town in Michigan and was born with a congenital problem in both knees. I went through many surgeries, trying to correct the problem but there was never really a cure. Little did I know, that God had "branded" me at birth, for such a moment as this. Many in this world grow up and go to school or college, to get their education, but that's not what God had in store for me. My education for writing, came from twenty-one painful knee surgeries, heartache from sexual abuse, as a child, and the loss of many things in my life, including the loss of children. As each painful moment came and as each loving desire left, God was taking all the brokenness in my life, and He was piecing it together, so I could have the heart He desired...a heart that could understand and care, for others, who live in despair.
As of this year, I have ministered to many in need, for over 10 years and God continues to open new doors, for me to walk through. Now, I am serving Him full-time, through the Jesus Care Children Ministry, while I continue to reach out to others in need. One thing that God has taught me over the years, is that no matter what we lose or experience in life, He will always be there to pick up the broken pieces and fill the empty voids in our lives. At the most difficult and heartbreaking moments of my life, I have come to see, that God never abandons His own but rather, He exchanges the painful moments, for the true plan He has, for each of our lives. It's Always & Only Because of Him... Diane (Author & US Director for Jesus Care Children Ministry)
If you are looking for a good, solid book that follows God's Word and you can depend on not to express a lot of outlandish personal opinions, this is a great resource. I used it each day as part of my devotion time and it definitely magnifies God and puts Him first! It explains a lot of scripture but stays Biblical and always point you to God as your ultimate source of wisdom.
It took me months to finally finish this book from my Kindle App and I must say I am blessed and most especially reminded because everytime I get to read this book per chapter, it feels like it is speaking to my current situation in life.
I meditated some of the passages here as well and prayed to the Lord to help me to rely on Him in relation to that specific passage.
Being the Christian woman I've become since starting my journey two years ago after being inspired by the publication of my first two Christian books days before my 69th birthday to begin writing my Christian blog, I've come to realize that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ knows that we, as Christians, struggle with acquiring and maintaining hope for and in our lives.
The proof of what I've stated can be found in reading JEREMIAH 29:11 [NLT]:
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
The Lord has given us so much hope through His divine plans that we need to exalt Him and proclaim that which can be found in PSALM 40:5 [NLT]:
"O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them."
In my journey to be a good Christian woman, I've found that despite how devout we might be as Christians, many of us still find it demanding to obtain the hope we require to persevere. The good thing is that whenever we require reassurance or renewal for our spirit, we can turn to the words of the Lord.
We're reminded in HEBREWS 10:23 [NKJV] of what we need to be doing:
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
The good thing about us possessing hope in our Lord is, according to ISAIAH 40:31 [NIV] is the following:
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
The above regarding the possessing of a renewed hope in the Lord epitomizes the intention of the book's author, Diane K Hiltz Chamberlain, in writing this book. The book is a great, progressive, step-by-step guide for her readers in unearthing the repossession of their hope in the Lord, much as I have during my journey. For wanting her readers to possess a renewal of hope in the Lord, I'm happy to give Ms. Chamberlain the 5 STARS she's so richly has garnered from this voracious reviewer of Christian books.
I wanted to love this book. It was good, but it should have been proofread. There were a lot of misused words: "than" instead of "then" and "then" instead of "than," "distinguish" instead of "extinguish," "conscious" instead of "conscience," "wondered" instead of "wandered." This is just one of my pet peeves, and it took away from my enjoyment of the content. Perhaps there is another version now. I read the free Kindle edition.
I love this book it has brought me comfort during a very difficult time. It is honest, compassionate and filled with words of wisdom. The book is in my Kindle Library and will never be placed in the cloud.
