Katheryn was born in Maine and has lived there her entire life. Growing up, she was the only girl out of five children. Out of four loving, but hard-assed, brothers she has been set on fire TWICE, shot at, left with a burning car and a five gallon container of gas, scared out of her mind every time they got behind the wheel, and has enough hilarious stories and amazing memories to fill a million books. It made her independent and every female character she writes reflects strength and independence. Katheryn books are full of page turning suspense, humor, and enough steam to overheat your e-reader. "There are no weak women, just weak moments."
I am sure many people will enjoy this book but it was not for me. I will say the writing in general seemed fine and free of errors and made me laugh quite a bit so I'm going with no rating whatsoever. It was the story itself that I had issues with. Others who enjoy lots of over the top drama would likely enjoy this book.
Our heroine, Abby, shows up at a new school because she has been kicked out of 6 schools in the past five years for fighting and getting in trouble, etc. She is a bad-ass who doesn't take shit from anyone and part of her problems stem from her parents dying when her and her twin brother Alex were 8. She can not get in trouble at this new school though.
She gets hit in the head by a locker by douche bag jock boy and who comes to her rescue but our Hero, Jamie. (aka Jameson) She is bleeding and he cleans her up.
They start dating and seem to date for awhile (I don't think an exact time frame was ever mentioned) until one day he abandons her because his dad threatens to kill his mother unless he goes with them. Not to mention
So fast forward nine years later. Jameson shows up to be a guitar player for this band, Thirty Ought Six. And guess who the lead singer is???? Come on take a guess...Ok, ok I'll tell you, Abby!
Abby doesn't even recognize Jameson. AT. ALL. I know its been nine years but someone that significant in my life I would recognize unless they had a sex change or major plastic surgery or even fat surgery.
So Jameson decides its a great idea not to clue Abby into his true identity. This lasts all of 1.6 seconds until Abby is skyping with Alex who is dying from cancer and Matt immediately recognizes Jameson and flips out. Bad-ass Abby comes out and she beats the shit outta Jameson. Jameson does mention that he came to see Abby two years after he left when his dad died, but she was with another guy and looked happy. That guy would have been Matt.
Matt. Matt is another story. Abby hooked up with Matt after one of her many jail visits when she went wild after Jamie abandoned her. Her and Matt were all lovey dovey until Matt started abusing her and raping her. But then twin brother Alex shows up and beats the shit outta Matt and Abby sends him to jail.
But Matt is out now....And who does he want to get? Abby! Of Course! And she is terrified. No one told her he was out of jail! And he wants to tell her Happy Anniversary of the day he bashed her head against the sink!!!
And of course Jameson feels guilty because if he never would have abandoned Abby she never would have gotten in all that trouble and never would have dated Matt and never would have been abused and raped, etc. etc. etc.
Abby's parents are dead, Jameson's dad is dead, Alex's wife is dead, Alex is dying. The rate its going in regards to Abby and Jameson:
Anyways this is around the time I decided to give up because i couldn't make myself read any more. I have too many other books on my TBR that I would rather read.
Also shoutout to Forever Me Romance Blog since I won this book through them! :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Woo hoo another great ARC thanks to the author Katheryn Kiden and my girl Savannah for singing it's praises..going in!
I was told by a trusted friend (Savannah) that I HAD to read this book, so being the good book bitch I am..I read it! Thanks be to the powerful reading goddess I did. What a powerfully, well written and moving debut novel. Written in a dual POV and done in a way that captured the true feelings of both Abby and Jameson in a beautifully poetic way.

Years ago a love began, after a boy helped a bullied girl..and in one swoop it was gone. Surviving that swoop of destiny, Abby became the front-woman of a nationally revered rock band and co-owner of a flourishing music label. Jameson was a guitar playing, recently out of the Marines young man that couldn’t seem to find his way past a petite red-head that had captured his heart years before. One audition, a drug addicted player’s choice, and his past comes face to face with his present and what he hopes to be his future.
This is where the story is a little far-fetched to me, the fact that Abby doesn’t recognize “Jamie”..a moment I was still able to rationalize in my reading head as, people mature and memories fade..so the book moved on for me pretty flawlessly.
Abby and Jameson fight demons and reality to be together, knowing the world doesn’t hold their future they do. The love they found years ago in a High School hallway was the beginning and end for them.
This is a rock star romance, with heart, loss, ever lasting love, grit and it made me cry. I don’t know what it is with books lately but I am tearing up like a hormonal teenager. I don’t cry people..I highly recommend this book! It left it’s mark..
I received an ARC. Ok. I was unsure of this book, because it had EVERYTHING in it and I mean EVERYTHING. Second chance love, depression, drinking, cussing, sex, a cute kid! I could go on, but I don't want too. It was an emotional rollercoster to say the least. It starts with Abigail meeting Jameson in high school. They meet unexpectedly and fall hard for each other. Then one day he is just gone. Forward to 9 years later. Abby now uses drinking and sex to cope with her lost of the love of her life. Enter Jameson replacement for a band member. He recognizes her, but she doesnt him. While Abby is talking to her sick brother he figures out who Jameson is and Abby crumbles. I dont want to give anymore away, but they figure out how to be with each other and learn to love again. This is an amazing debut novel for this author. It brings you down and then back up, only to be brought down once more. Emotions galore in this. The sub characters keep the book light and fresh but with some underlying issues. I can't wait for the second installment!!! Keep up the good work.
She was like water after a drought or like a fix to a junkie - Jameson
I seriously couldn't put this book down once I started reading it! I can't believe that this is the authors first book! It is great from beginning to end! It is about loving and losing, abuse and heart ache, triumph and success, and second chances and fate finding a way.
When Jameson was a senior he had to choose between the girl he loved and the life of his mother. It was the hardest thing for him to do but he had to protect his mother from his monster of a father, so he did the only thing he could he left Abby to save his mom.
Abby broke when Jameson left without a word. He just disappeared. So she coped the only way she could. She got into fights, drank too much and hooked up with random guys. She was a mess and she hooked up with the wrong guy. A guy that beat her. A guy that raped her. Until her brother Alex saved her from her nightmare.
Nine years have passed when Jameson & Abby's paths cross again and the attraction is instant. He knew who she was the second he looked into her eyes but he had changed so much that it took her longer to realize why his eyes gave her so much comfort. One song together and their lives will never be the same again. Their lyric tell a story and sing the words that they are too afraid to say.
I couldn’t pull my eyes away from her as I sang. Reaching up to wipe away a tear that escaped her eye, she’s everything to me. I can’t even begin to imagine my life without her anymore. Again. I think I would die because last time it damn near killed me. - Jameson
"... the last time nearly killed me. This time it probably would. I can’t keep myself from loving you. I don’t want to but... God I don’t know... It’s like, when you’re around, I have a hard time figuring shit out. I want you, but I don’t want to be hurt and it’s easier just to push you away than to be broken again.” - Abby
Just when everything is falling into place - the bottom falls out! OMG I didn't see that coming!
I smiled, swooned, laughed and cried reading this book. I was hooked from the start! I can't wait to read Tuesday's story - hurry up and write Freeing Tuesday Katheryn Kiden!!
Abby Irons has had a lot in her life to deal with. Pain, heartbreak and yet after reckless years she channels it into music. Not saying she still doesn't have a wild hair because the fiery red head is full of shock and awe. Abby is the frontman for Thirty Ought Six and who doesn't love a rocker book? Well this is NOT your typical rocker book series, so hold on to something. Abby the tiny, powerhouse that she is commands the stage while her guys back her up. Until Derek, her guitarist, checks himself into rehab and leaves the spot open for a temporary replacement.
Enter Jameson, or can we have angels sing and cymbals crash? After Evan, his brother....who is a GOD by the way... Just sayin,, has him audition for the spot... So he will do something with his life. He is the new temp guitarist for TOS! This man is hot and commands his guitar screaming riffs and amazing songs! They have a past.... ENTER PLOT TWIST! First of many people pay attention! Well, Abby does what she does and gets all kinds of reckless. Jameson wants her, and whether she knows it or not she wants him even more. Add in banter, and her sick brother Alex, along with an adorable niece you have all the emotions of a epic ass rollercoaster of a book! I for one can't wait to get the next book. Katheryn's writing style is great. Her characters have depth. Real depth that you feel what they are feeling. I fell in love with the characters and even the secondary characters that she is building into.
BUT HOLD THE DAMN PHONE BECAUSE I'M NOT DONE! Song Lyrics. Usually I HATE THEM! USUALLY! I read them in a book and chances are I skim over them all yada yada they sing they make up their own shit and whatever. NOT HERE PEOPLE! The lyrics for Fight For Me... AMAZING. They chilled me, gave me freaking tingles and had me begging for more. I would download that song and play the shit out of it! Bring on Freeing Tuesday I can't wait for more especially Evan! Great debut, amazing story and filled with lots of emotion, love and fun. Oh and STEAM! Lots of tension and steam. MUST READ!
Book Worms was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. We gave this book 5 "I want to give it more" Stars. This Review was left by a Book Worms Reviewer Tia Blakey. Thanks Tia.
I gave this book 5 stars, it would be 50 stars if I could, because this book is amazing. I totally love the beginning because it gave us an introduction to who everyone was which I loved. I totally related to Abby because I had a similar issue because of my height. When Jameson left it really sucked. Years later I loved how the book gave me such an emotional pull with Abby and Jameson reuniting slowly but surely.
Tuesday is my chick, I loved how she balances Abby which was great. The guys were pretty awesome. When Abby came out of her coma and didn't remember Jameson, I was in tears, like full blown tears.
Then when he fought to get her memory back, I was cheering him on. Izzy was so adorable knowing that Abby and Jameson loved one another was so sweet.
Also I can not wait to read Tuesday's story because she has a lot to tell and Evan he is going to get her through whatever she has going on. This book has to be a series because it would be very good.
I'm probably a 3.5 stars. It started to drag for me about half way through and I did have to do some eye rolls for all that went wrong for this girl. Parents died as a child. Lover of her life up and leaves in high school while pregnant but had miscarriage Boyfriend beat and raped her Said high school boyfriend comes back 9 years later but she doesn't recognize him?? Twin brother now dying of cancer. Brothers wife died at childbirth with his daughter/ her niece Stalker boyfriend comes back Car accident resulting in amnesia Brother finally dies And she's like 26.
This book has it all... drugs, sex, Rock n roll, alcoholics, rape, domestic abuse...and a lot of LOVE!!
This book had so many emotions bottled up into 310 pages. I literally just finished 'Where Words Fail', and I'm purchasing book 2.
I love when past romances come back together. I'm glad Abby understands why Jameson left her without even a goodbye. (It was for good reasoning)
After Abby realizes that Jameson I'd back in her life, her feelings for him resurface, which is hurting her because she cut off all feelings for anyone 9 years ago, when he left.
This story was a bit all over the place. So much happened and yet nothing was completely explained.
Abby had one hell of a life and she struggled to say the least. Jameson was dealt a crappy hand at life also. However like I mentioned no details as to everything that happened to them.
This book had the potential was fell flat. I did however love the epilogue and the supporting characters.
Beautiful love story with themes of loss, abuse and 2nd chances woven into the fabric of the music industry and a successful band. Evoked emotional responses sometimes laughter others crying in despair. The hidden jem for me would be the sage Izzy, who at six, broke through to the adults, demanded action and asked the questions or made observations that everyone avoided. Enjoy this journey.
Abigail "Abby" Jenkins grew up with her grandpa and her best friends were her twin brother Alex and AJ. She never had friends but her life changed when she met Jamie who stuck up for her at school until the day he disappeared.
Now 9 years later Abby Irons is the lead singer of Thirty Ought Six and is in desperate need of a replacement guitarist when Derek checks himself into rehab before their tour. But when she discovers who the replacement guitarist is her life once again begins to tailspin out of control.
Will Abby finally realize she has a second chance at love or will her self-destructive behavior cost her everything?
I enjoyed this book but there were a few things that did frustrate me a little.
At the beginning of the book I felt horrible for Abby with what she had to endure at school and I was grateful that she found Jameson who protected her. I understood how that would have led her to an abusive relationship with Matt and I was super proud of her for escaping that. Yet she continued to have really self-destructive behavior with her random hook-ups and how she craved it rough. I couldn't understand how her brother and AJ let this continue and that was one part that got to me.
I must admit that I really liked Jameson and when he figured everything out he was initially shocked that there was no recognition as was I. That to me never made sense but I understood why the author wanted it done that way. I knew that there had to be a super good reason behind the past and there was and it broke my heart with the choice he had to make.
I loved the gradual turnaround of everything and we got to see a whole different side of both of them and they really managed to bring out the best in each other. I loved the song writing that they each did and how music played such an important role.
There were so many emotional moments in the book with Alex and seeing what Abby had to endure with Matt. Then there was a huge turning point where everything went back to point zero and had to start all over and I felt so bad for absolutely everyone involved. My heart began shattering for Jameson with what he had to witness and the promise he was forced to break. I was so happy when the pieces finally fell into place!
The end was awesome and heartbreaking at the same time! I can't wait for more in the series!
I have been trying to write this review and get my thoughts together, and honestly the name of the book seems to be pretty accurate. Where Words Fail by Katheryn Kiden was not at all what I was expecting going in, and even though the blurb is accurate, the book is so much more than just that. I feel like I didn't really have a clue what I was in for because of everything that happened, but I did end up enjoying this story. I think that this book is going to be one of those that people either really get into or they can't get into at all. I will admit that this one was completely over the top and the story to me was really far fetched. But for me even though it was both far fetched and over the top, I didn't have a problem with the story. I took it for what it was and was able to enjoy this one simply as a book with made up characters and situations and a way to spend a few hours of my time.
Abby Irons co-owns Ironsound Records with her twin brother Alex, and she is also the lead singer for the hugely popular band Thirty Ought Six. When her lead guitarist has to leave the band to go to rehab, he hand picks their new guitarist. When Jameson Williams shows up to join the tour of his new band, he is shocked to find the lead singer is his high school girlfriend and also the girl whose heart he broke years ago. He never got a chance to explain why he left her and he has never stopped loving her. At first Abby doesn't recognize him, and it isn't until later that she finds out who he really is. After Jameson had left her, Abby's already hard life fell apart even further. Now she is trying to make it through the tour with Jameson while dealing with her brother's illness and her niece. But when someone from her past shows up and threatens everything she has worked for, will she and Jameson be able to make it through and have a shot at a future together? Or will the past be too much for them to get over?
I really liked Jameson. He had reasons for doing what he had done and unfortunately he wasn't really given much of a choice in how he dealt with everything. It was hard to see him suffer because of things that were beyond his control. I did think that he could have done a few things differently, but it was clear that he really cared about Abby and had done what he thought was best for her after he had broken her heart. He was sweet and kind, and I loved that he was protective of her and always stood up for her. He was a great match for her and he seemed to always see through to who she really was and not just the front that she put up. I also really liked that he had no problem admitting his feelings and taking his time with her. He was patient and was willing to do things how she needed to do them. Abby was vulnerable and had been through so much. This poor girl just couldn't catch a break. She was constantly dealing with a million things, and I felt so bad for her. I liked that she was always such a rock for those around her though, and you could tell that she would do anything for those that she cared about. I will admit that she didn't ever really seem like a huge rock star to me though, she was just this normal girl who happened to sing for a really popular band. I liked that she was a bit rough around the edges though, and that made her easier to relate to. She wasn't afraid to cuss or say what was on her mind, and she had a tendency to fight and get in some trouble. I thought that her and Jameson were really natural together and they just seemed to fit. They were perfect for each other and had a lot of chemistry. I liked that they were able to still have a great connection after being apart for so long. I did mention that this one was far fetched though, so here is what I had some problems with. I thought that it was pretty ridiculous that she wouldn't have recognized the guy that she was in love with but her brother would. Her brother had only met Jameson a few times, and yet he was still able to see that it was him after all that time but she somehow had no clue. That just didn't make sense to me. She also didn't even remember that his name was actually Jameson and not Jamie like she used to call him. I also felt like there was just too much going on in this story. It was literally one thing after another, and I found it to be completely unbelievable. This girl is only in her twenties, and the amount of things that she had to go through was insane. I really felt like there were several things that came completely out of left field and could have been left out of the story. There was enough drama and obstacles in this book that some of these things could have been left out. There were several times that something would happen and I would roll my eyes because of it. This book was well written though, and I did really like the characters. I loved Alex's little girl Izzy, and she completely stole the show. I'm not sure that a normal six year old would have been as intelligent and self aware at that age, but I loved her regardless. I also really liked the other members of the band, and I can't wait to get to see more of Tuesday and Evan. (Abby's best friend and Jameson's brother) I know it sounds like there was a lot that didn't work for me or that I didn't like, but really these characters were so likable and easy to get invested in that I really was able to lose myself in the story. I would recommend that if you are interested in reading this book that you go into it knowing that this isn't going to be like real life and that there is a lot that goes on that is not believable. Jameson and Abby are worth the read though, and I can't wait to read Freeing Tuesday next.
"Home was where Abby was. Anywhere else would now just feel like hell." "Have you ever had your hear and soul ripped out, stomped on, cut into pieces and then handed back to you?"
OH MY GOD!! This book broke my heart, pieced it back together, and then broke it into a million pieces again! I'm still picking up chunks of my heart and trying to glue it back together!
When you first meet Abby, she is a quiet, introverted girl, who is picked on horribly in school and has been kicked out of more schools than she would like to admit for fights. She has a mouth like a truck driver and a body of a Sprite. She has suffered the loss of her parents and has a twin brother that she loves more than anything in world. The second she meets Jameson, the anger in her dissipates inside her and feelings she has never felt erupt in her heart.
"Her red hair caught my attention first but when I asked her if she was alright, she looked at me. Those emerald eyes held me captive. They pulled so strong that I swore she could see into my soul."
Jameson is a troubled teenager from a broken and battered home. He has dealt with a lot things a seventeen year-old shouldn't have too. From the moment he sees Abby, his world comes to a halt and making her happy is his only reason to exist.
"I shouldn't have kissed her. I wish I had known when I did that she would become the most important person in my life. That, from that moment on, every spare second I had would be spent with her. That I would give her everything I had and love her with everything in me. Until one day my entire world became so fucked up, I lost myself because I lost her."
He kept his sordid life away from her and that was the biggest mistake he could have ever made...
"She would see that I was a bad person and that no one would want anything to do with me because I was broken."
Fast forward nine years. Abby is now a huge singing star in a rock band and has more baggage on her back than a hiker. She has been devastated and beat by men in her life and only trusts her twin brother and the few people she has allowed around her. She hasn't seen or heard from Jameson since he walked out her life nine years ago and life has not gone well for Abby since. Jameson's life hasn't been much better and hasn't stopped loving Abby since the day he had to walk away. He has always wanted to find her and tell her why he left like he did. Well, he gets his opportunity unexpectedly when he tries out for a temporary position as a guitar player for a band. He's never seen the band but has heard some of their music and is hand picked by their guitar player to fill in for him.
"So I'll just sit her with Jameson, pretending he doesn't matter, and pretending that it won't kill me when he walks away. But that's all it will be. Pretend."
Abby fights so hard to keep Jameson out of her heart and at time is too stubborn for her own good! Thank god for her brother and life interventions to make her see what was always right in front of her!! Abby and Jameson's relationship is filled with love, misunderstanding, hurt, anger, angst, and emotions that I can't even put into words! So since my "words have failed" me, everyone should just read this book!! I cried, screamed at both Abby and Jameson, wanted to fight for Abby when she needed someone to have her back, and genuinely felt heart break for the both of them throughout this book. A must read for all!!!
"I promised you I wouldn't leave you." "Everyone leaves. It's fine. I'll be fine." "She healed every piece of me that was still broken. She was my reason to breathe."
Words can not describe how much I felt from this book... So the title totally describes how I feel right now trying to write this review! But to not tell everyone about how great this was would not be right!! This a new author and u wouldn't be able to tell that from her writing style at all she is simply amazing and I can't wait for more from her! So let's get to the story.... You have Abby and I loved her from the beginning of the book to the very end! She is a broken girl and finds her way through her band yes total rock star girl!!-- I don't want to give to much away about this story because I want everyone to read it and feel what I felt without being told what to expect!! --- She deals with her brokenness in sexual ways also but she is determined to live her life the way she wants to and never fall in love again!! Then you have Jameson!!! OMG hotttttt!!! One of my newest BBFs!!! He is the new guy on the scene of Abby's band -- so she thinks-- wink wink!! There is a huge twist with Abby and Jameson that we find out right away but Abby is clueless!! I wanted to devour Jameson more than once... And the guy was broken to pieces too and he is determined to put his pieces and Abby's pieces back together... Ur seriously gonna fall in love with him and he is very lickable!!! The chemistry between the 2 of them is crazy hot! And there is some hot steamy sexy scenes!!! Like change ur panties hot! The side characters in this book were so amazing as well it's hard to not want more from them too!! This story is also very heart wrenching at parts and I sobbed for a long time and had to wipe my kindle of tears!! Emotions brought out of me in a book lets me know I felt the whole thing the whole time I was reading it like I could be one of the characters!! And the Epilogue!! Ahhhhh it's not ur typical epilogue but god it was so good!! Katheryn my gawd thank u for letting me join the journey of urs way sooner than most!! Ur gonna Rock the author world like ur book rocked mine!!!l
Nothing makes me happier than picking up a book and having no expectations or preconceived notions about an author. This makes the reading experience that much more amazing! Where Words Fail is the debut novel for author Katheryn Kiden. Where has she been hiding?? I absolutely loved this story!
Every book has its star couple that we are bound to enjoy reading about. It just so happens I actually felt the connection between Jameson and Abby in this story. Their defining moment came at a time where they both placed their emotions on the line through their joy of music. Music was the force that kept them linked no matter how they were breaking apart inside. Not only did they make music, they lived it.
I was brought to tears several times over the raw emotions floating throughout the story. I cried for Alex and everything he was about to lose. I cried for Izzy who wanted nothing more than to have her daddy forever. For being six, she was wise beyond her years. Her words appeared simple but always packed a punch. Izzy held Abby together when she wanted to crumble all while giving Jameson hope he would get back to where he dreamed he could be. I cried for failed relationships, broken promises and unfair futures.
My favorite line in the whole book…. Where words fail, music speaks. I can’t think of a better choice of words to sum up Abby and Jameson. So much of their relationship was played out over song lyrics. They literally found their way back from troubled times through a few specific songs. Their love knew no boundaries and had no limits. It was eternal and defines soul mates.
Where Words Fail was so powerful. I think there are valuable lessons to be learned in this book. The resounding message of this story is that there are no guarantees in life, loss is inevitable. Time is of the essence and you need to live each day as if it were your last. Lastly, never stop wishing. As the lyrics of the Diamond Rio song say, I wish for one more day with you.
Firstly I need to thank author Cat Mason for sending me this book as I may not have come across it otherwise and that would be a tragedy cause this book brought me to my knees on more then one occasion. If you are looking for an emotional read with lots of angst, heartbreak and tears then this book is for you (yes I'm still crying while writing this review).
Abby is a young woman who has had more than her fair share of heartbreak in her life, losing her parents, an abusive relationship, a sick brother and the love of her life leaving her without even saying goodbye. However she's done good she's the lead singer of the highly successful rock group Thirty Ought Six, but she's still running from her problems which all lead back to day Jameson Williams walking away from her without saying goodbye.
Its been nine years since Jameson walked away from the love of his life, Abbey, He has never gotten over her, never felt for another like he did for Abbey. After leaving the Marines his life is going no where until his brother encourages him to audition as lead guitarist for a band. Jameson has no idea who the band is until he meets them on day one of their tour and he comes face to face with the one girl he never stop loving, But how will Abby react when she discovers who he is and why he left nine years ago.
This is at times a heart breaking read with many highs and lows and just when you think every thing is great Katheryn does a complete 180 on you !!!! At times I wanted to scream " how much more can she take " and " poor Jameson " !!!!! There are some lighter moments thanks to Abby's best friend Tuesday and her sassy mouth which I loved !!!
My only complaint is I would have loved a few more sex scenes but hey that's just my dirty mind !!
I'm so glad I come across this book its such an amazing read by an amazing author, who is able to tug on your heart strings. I will be definitely reading her next book !
Abby and her brother Alex are no strangers to tragedy. In high school Abby meets Jamie. He was her world then but he left without telling her and she hasn't seen him since. Abby and Alex have lost a lot in the lives but as adults they have made themselves successful. The own a record label and Abby is a famous musician. Abby uses drugs and meaningless sex to help her cope with her past. She had made a family with Alex, his daughter, her friend Tuesday, and her band mates.
Nine years after Jamie left she shows up uses his real name Jameson. He is the temporary guitarist for Abby's band. He recognizes her pretty quickly but she doesn't recognize him. I wondered why she didn't recognize him. It seemed unrealistic that she would not recognize him. But then I remembered in my own life not recognizing people from high school. Boys seem to change so much after high school. So, at first glance this part didn't seem believable but it is very much believable. When she finally realizes who Jameson is, it rocks both their worlds. Will they fight for each other or will they walk away? You are going to have to read the book to find out.
Where Words Fail takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. The characters in the book have so much bad stuff thrown at them. The characters are so wonderfully written and strong that you can't help but root for them to get some happiness.
Katheryn Kiden does a wonderful job balancing the good, bad, and the OMG moments in the story. Where Words Fail drew me in from the beginning and I could not put it down. Be warned that when you read it you may need tissues and enough time to read it in one sitting because you won't want to put it down.
Amazing. This book was referred to me by a friend and boy am I glad that she suggested it. This book was absolutely amazing, I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I fell a little in love with Jameson as I turned each page and I had to see what the future held for him and Abby. This book had a little bit of everything that I look for when reading a good story, it made me laugh, it made me cry, I swooned a little and it had the perfect ending, not gift wrapped HEA but the perfect HEA. I would highly recommend this book to everyone to read! Kuddos to this absolutely amazing author!
Abby & Jameson were head over heels in love in high-school until one day Jameson left without so much as a goodbye, breaking Abby's heart. They are re-united in a most unconventional way, when Jameson is chosen by the bassist from Abby's famous band, to replace him while he recovers from drug addiction in rehab. Although Abby doesn't instantly remember him, Jameson immediately remembers the love of his life. When she finally realizes who he is, the shit literally hit the fan and the reader starts crossing their fingers and toes hoping that they will be able to find their way back to each other. The secondary characters introduced in this book were perfect, providing comic relief when needed and emotional support when necessary. I won't spoil the book for anyone but you all need a little Jameson in your life!!!
"She was like water after a drought or like a fix to a junkie. I had craved for her the entire time we were apart and just as the feelings had turned to embers, and I was starting to get better....Boom...Fires roaring again."
I love it when the title of a book truly fits the actual story! Where Words Fail is an emotional, fun, touching and addictive read that many fans of the genre will enjoy their time reading.
Abby has been through a lot in her life. Add the loss of her parents and being picked on and pretty much harassed forever just for looking and being different, and yea, it's much worse... Abby's had to calm her temper and basically just sit back and swallow her retorts and actions because she's been firmly warned and she DOES NOT want to face the consequences! Luckily (in some way) life takes a turn for her and she does not have to deal with those foolish people any longer, at least not alone. Yea she still has many things that are causing her to suffer emotionally. But the show that is life must go on! Now if she can only get rid of these gorgeous pair of eyes that she fell in love with and have haunted her for years, she'll be able to move forward and she'll be all aces!
I enjoy a story when a couple is reunited. Especially two people that are both...damaged in some way and it eventually leads to both being able to heal one another and cure the aches each carry. Jameson is a great male who was put into a situation by family. Luckily he and Abby get a second chance to make everything right... Where Words Fail is a great start to a new series! I look forward to Tuesday story (sits on edge of seat tapping feet!) I hope it releases soon!
Oh-Freakin'-Gosh!!! The title "Where Words Fail" really fits the title of this book, amazing read!! Words can never describe what I felt when I read this book, everything just falls into place. From the start up to the last, this book never disappoints me. I love how the story started and of course the way it ended!!
The characters, I love the characters... Gah, Jameson is FANTASTICALLY-OH-SO-SIZZLING-HOT. I love his patience and his dedication making making things right. My new book boyfriend. Abby on the other hand, a small but terrible kind of chic.. She may have some issues but I still love her because of her cool attitude. Also the other characters, they are easy to love and unforgettable.. You can easily get attached not only to the main characters but also to them.
The story, well, the story rocks!! I love the concept and the flow of the story is great, it's easy to follow. The concept blows my mind, amazing. I cried on some parts, damn!! I never thought that the story would go to such wonderful events. Really unexpected. As the story went by, it only gets better and better. I love how the things that next happened with all the drama. Really a good book!!
The title totally describes this book.. Words Fail to describe it.
I guess I went in thinking I was going to get something different than what I got so I was a little taken back. I thought I was going to get a bad ass, hard core all out rocker.. Instead we get a tamed down rocker who most of the time didn't really seem to fit into what I would think of as a female rocker. So, it took a bit for me to come to like our main lady since *I* had expected something different.
Abigail is the lead singer in a HUGE rock band. Their guitarist needs to take a trip to rehab and hires a replacement guitarist, Jameson, who shows up on tour to find that he is now face to face... or I should say face to ass with his old high school flame that he ran out on without one word. She doesn't instantly recognize him or his name but something about his eyes has her thinking she's met him before. Eventually she figures it out and the story goes crazy from there.
There is so many HUGE events that happen in this book I had a hard time keeping up at points and getting to really relate to the characters. The side characters helped pull up the slack and helped me love the story as I fell in love with them too.
Ok first this book was AMAZING!!! Everything about this book was perfect. First we meet Abby who I loved from the start. You learn early on she a a badass who's just trying to stay out of trouble. We also meet her twin brother Alex who I absolutely adore. We also meet the sexy Jameson ( by sexy I mean do me now sexy). Abby winds up being a sexy badass lead singer in her band, and Jameson, who is taking over for Derrick, the lead guitarist who put himself into rehab. Anyways, Jameson and Abby have a history that we find out about early on... I don't want to give anything away because I promised myself I wouldn't give this review with spoilers. But all I will say is this book is such a good read. For a first time author I was shocked at how well written this was. I laughed, smiled, cried, and was happy, and sad all throughout this book. I connected with each character on an emotional level. I give this book 5 stars but if their were more stars it would have gotten a higher rating. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to read the 2nd book to this series. Actually I can't wait to read any book from his author because she's a very talented one!! I'll forever be a huge fan!! Recommend this book 1000%
How lucky was T and A After Dark to get this book for review? My answer....Very! I thought it was awesome and I would absolutely recommend this to my NA genre reading friends! I personally like a little more 'Sexy Time' in my books but if the storyline is good then I'm good. It kept me interested and that says a lot!
A not so nice childhood has made Abby who she is. A strong willed (on the outside) young women who has dealt with heartbreak and loss. One loss she never really got over. Jamie....
Jameson Williams didn't have a happy childhood either but in Abby he found his safe haven. Together they form a bond that will endure the test of time.
This book has it all. Heartbreak, loss, love, music and of course sex! Loved the many references to songs we all know and love. Chalk Outline is one of my favs!
Story was great! Characters were amazing! Very well written and Im totally looking forward to the next in the Save Me Series called Freeing Tuesday! Nothing like a HOT TATTOO ARTIST!!!
I fell in love with this story of a rock star dealing with wounds that go back to the time she was a small child. When she ends up crossing paths with someone from her past, Abby has to decide if she's willing to let go of her hurt or keep her distance.
The story has a lot of language in it and sexual content, so be warned that this is NOT a book for younger audiences. It's from from two points of view, giving the reader an insight into what each one is thinking and feeling about the events in the story, which I enjoyed. Abby is a great protagonist and I loved her feisty attitude as well as her relationship with her brother and niece. Every interaction felt so natural and there were several bits that left me with a big smile on my face as I tried to avoid laughing too loud and disturbing the husband's editing session.
If you're looking for a fast, engaging read with characters who I feel make a big impression that has plenty of romance and music in it, this one is for you.
WOW... I loved this book.. it took me on a jam packed ride of emotions... Jameson is a hot tatt'd ex marine... who had a screwed up childhood which caused him to lose the only girl he will ever love... Abby is broken yet tough as nails... she is a closed book because everyone always leaves in the end... when the only person she has loved walks back into her life after nine years... how will she react??? When her past becomes her present and being the lead singer of thirty ought six band she uses music where words fail to express how she feels... Jameson and Abby have a history which is full of hurt and secrets... can their love bond them together through it all??? I loved this book, it kept me gripped and wanting more... I can't wait to read more in this series.
I really liked this book. At times it felt a little long and that every possible thing that could go wrong went wrong and it sometimes felt like a little much. However, I was rooting for Abbi to have her happily ever after and, thankfully, she got it! After years of self destruction and depression, of course. And not without the help of her band mates, her brother, her music and, of course, Jameson her first love that leaves her without a word years earlier. Alex, her twin brother, broke my heart over and over again. Jameson is every girls dream man and everything Abbi doesn't want to admit she needs. If you love a HEA type story you'll absolutely love this!

This book was recommended by a friend and then bought for me while she threatened to sit on my ass while I read it. She assured me it was that good. She was right! As usual. This was a ride that I didn't want to get off of and when I finished I called my friend and find out the next book is in progress now! HOLY EXCITEMENT! Great book it's a must read. If you're unsure my friend will sit on your ass while she makes you read it just so you can tell her how great it is because it really is awesome!
