Jill comes from a large family with six siblings, including an identical twin. She was raised in the Pacific Northwest and later relocated to Colorado for college and a successful IT career before discovering her talent for writing sweet and sexy page-turners. After Colorado, she decided to move south, living in Texas and now making her home along the Emerald Coast of Florida. You will find that the settings of several of her series are inspired by her time spent living in these areas. She has two sons and off-set the testosterone in her house by adopting three furry little ladies that provide her company while she’s locked in her writing cave. She enjoys heading to the beach, hiking, swimming, wine-tasting, and pickleball with her husband, and of course writing. If you have read any of her books, you may also notice that there is a love of food, especially sweets! She has been blamed for a few added pounds by her assistant, editor, and fans… donuts or pie anyone?
Not bad for being book 5 in this series. Might even dive into books 1-4.
Red Hot Christmas was a pretty quick audio that was interesting from start to finish. I honestly didn't feel bored or zoned out throughout the entire thing. In it, you will meet Amber and Luke. Each had a unique past and reason to be in Pride. Amber didn't have the easiest life or relationship with her father. Which was the focal point into her horrible relationship with her mother. Then there's Luke, who grew up in Pride and left for college.. to only come back and take care of his grandma.
Once Amber came into town, for a new job opportunity, I don't think she was prepared to meet anyone there. Especially Luke. These two had a crazy connection and I had a feeling that their relationship/romance was going to be hot. Luckily, it was and I enjoyed everything about them being together.
Amber needed something good in her life. Plus Luke was a sweetheart from the very beginning so he needed some love as well. Overall, this was a really cute book. Zero eye rolls and everything.
★★★★★Red Hot Christmas by Jill Sanders (The Pride Series book 5)
I was given this beta read in exchange for my honest opinion. It is set to come out 11.1.13.
The town of Pride
I'm running just as fast as I can, I want to spend the holidays with you.
This one starts in the Fall, which is my favorite season. All the wonderful descriptions, make me love it even more. This story just sucks you right in.
We get to meet a wonderful new couple. Luke and Amber are sure to warm the holidays. And Jackie is adorable.
All my favorite character have come out to play. Oh, Iian, I'm so happy you get more page time. And the town adds a few new faces, that I'm sure will please.
I can't wait to see what sweet, deliciousness comes next.
Thanks to the author for sending Christmas a bit early this year.
Really cute small town love story. Amber is new to town and you can tell she is hiding something from the start. She is hard working and friendly with those around her. Her life was not easy, wont spoil the reason why, and it makes her constantly watching over her shoulder. Luke is a fun, carefree (for the most part), and definitely a family man. I think he is super cute and even though it wasnt an erotic type of book, they described their chemistry in a great way.
The beginning made me laugh when he got hit by the car racing his pedal bike to wanting brownies. These two were super cute together. Now I am curious who the first 4 books were about lol
I received a copy of Red Hot Christmas in exchange for an honest review.
Amber has just about had enough of life as she knows it. She's tired of her job and her relationship with a guy that she thinks will never grow up. When she's almost attacked one night coming out of work, it pushes her to make a major change and she heads to Pride, Oregon where she'll be the new manager at the restaurant in town. Her first day in town, she literally runs into Luke. As she settles into town, she and him form a friendship and she's definitely attracted to him, but the more she gets to know him, the more she fears falling for yet another guy who's addicted to video games. Is she right about Luke or is there more to him that she's not aware of?
I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Luke right from the start. What a great guy he was to leave his life behind to help take care of his aging grandmother and stick around for so long. And I loved that he was so gorgeous and sexy, a great friend to his circle of friends and a nice guy to boot. It was no wonder to me that Amber fell for him. I'm glad that she was willing to give a relationship with him a chance, but I knew there would be something at some point that would make her seriously question if she should stick it out with him.
I also liked that there was more to the story than just Amber and Luke's blossoming relationship. Amber has an interesting relationship with her mom, due to something that happened in the past, which of course rears its head during the book.
This is the first book that I've read in the Pride series, but I'll definitely be looking for more of the books. Even though I started reading the series with book #5, the story was written well enough that there was no confusion when it came to the secondary characters, which I'm guessing were featured in the earlier books. Thanks Jill Sanders for such a great series - I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the other characters in Pride even better!
I'm not sure exactly what it is about Amber and Luke's interactions, but I found them absolutely hilarious. Nothing like mowing a guy down to get his attention! I always enjoy visiting the Pride, Oregon series, but this one was full of laughs for me. I love how the town interacts with each of the characters and the characters become more fleshed out in each book! Definitely an enjoyable way to pass an evening!
This is the second book I have read of this author, I loved the last one and she didn’t let me down in this one. I totally loved this story Jill is an outstanding author that knows how to get right to your heart in her heartwarming, loving romances. She writes stories you have a hard time putting down, that will almost break your heart and bring tears to your eyes, in her heartwarming tales of love, lost and finding your way. I would love to live in Pride Jill brings the town to life with her wonderful characters who are funny, loving people who care. Jill puts emotion in to her writing, wonderful humor that makes you chuckle she is a very talent author.
Amber who has had hard time in the love department decided it is time to say good bye to the city life after almost being attacked and she moves to Pride where things are calmer. She will be a manager for a restaurant and live a nice peaceful life. She has a past she is trying to put behind her the last thing she needs is a new love interest after her last few who were man boys she now knows what she wants in a man that is if she was looking. Her first day in Pride she almost runs over a man on a bike, one look and she was hook that is until she found out he spends his time playing video games. She doesn’t want or need another man boy who only plays games. She spends her time fight the attraction but isn’t doing so well.
Luke is a fun loving man who loves to live life to the fullest. He has outstanding friends and a wonderful grandmother who I fell in love with. He came back to Pride when he grandfather died to help take care of his grandmother. He lost his family at a young age and she is all he has left. He gave up his life moved back but needed something to support his self. He started designing video games but he can’t get Amber to understand that. He takes one look at her and knows he wants to get to know her but she isn’t helping. Luke decides he is going to change her mind, he isn’t willing to give up on a relationship with her.
There is more to this story the just Amber and Luke there is Amber past comes back to slap her right in the face. Along with some hard times for Luke, there will be some trying times in Pride before they can even think about starting a relationship.
I loved that the author takes parts out of the series and put it in the next one in the series to mix it in, it is like coming home. You know who she is talking about and you think wow isn’t that neat. It is almost word for word from book to book. This is a standalone book and can be read without reading any of the series. Reading the series just makes it a better read. There is NOTHING I can say I didn’t like about this sweet wonderful read. It was truly and outstanding read one that I could not put down. I can’t wait to read more of the series. If you are looking for a sweet, heartwarming, funny story that has heart and soul look no farther you have found it.
Amber has been running a restaurant for the past three year all on her own and it’s slowly been going downhill at no fault of hers. The managers have been MIA and rather than doing much needed repairs, they are spending the profits. Amber is tired of working so hard and never seeing the results as her requests continued to fall on deaf ears so after a brief run in the parking lot she decides that there is no time like the present to start looking for something else. When she receives the job offer from Iian Jordan at the Golden Oar Restaurant in Pride, she jumped at it but moving to Pride wasn’t at all what she expected.
Luke grew up in Pride having moved in with his grandparents after his parents were killed in a car accident when he was young. He moved away for a while to go to college but after his grandfather passed away, he moved back to take care of his grandmother so that she wouldn’t be on her own. He believes that he’s happy and has everything that he wants until Amber runs over him with her jeep on her first day in Pride. Neither were looking for love, especially Amber who has had with man boys and their video games but neither can seem to stay away from the other.
I liked this book but not as well as I did the other Pride books to be honest. Yes the sweet romance was there but the suspense and mystery that I had come to love in the other books was missing from this one. The brief run ins with “the bad” people just didn’t cut it for me. I felt that there was a lot more that could have happened to make it more intriguing or scary so to speak but it was just there one minute and the next minute taken care of which was disappointing after all of the suspense from the other stories.
Like all of the other books though, you do get a glimpse of the past characters which was nice as well as little glimpse of Sara and Allen who are the main character in the next book which is called My Sweet Valentine. I highly recommend the series and while each one can be read as a standalone, I feel that they are so much enjoyable when read in order.
RED HOT CHRISTMAS was such a sweet holiday novel! I loved getting to know Amber and Luke and learning about their varied backgrounds. Amber has issues with her father from her childhood and we are shown how that created a great rift between her and her mother. Luke grew up in Pride, had lived with his grandparents since the age of 8, left to go to college and returned to take care of his grandmother after his grandfather passed.
Jill is an amazing author and I am so glad I stumbled onto this series. I will definitely be picking up the earlier Pride novels as soon as possible!
Copy of book received in exchange for an honest review.
Love how there's a role reversal where Luke wants to be the one to take things slow and not sleep with Amber while the latter who thought the former was another man-boy didn't want to do anything else than jump his bone...haha....Marvelous story, Luke losing two sets of parents, his parents and his grandparents but realizing that he wasn't alone and that he'll always have a family as the community of Pride is nothing else but one big family. Just like Luke, Amber too finds out what it meets to be a part of a huge family where everyone looks out for each other....Amidst some terrible events, Luke and Amber fell in love and they found the kind of love that they both always dreamed about....I give it five stars...!!
WOW. This book was TERRIBLE. I skimmed through the last 3/4 of the book just to see how it ended...not that I really cared. I've read Jill Sanders before and remembered liking her books but this was so poorly written. It felt like I was reading a free eBook on Radish or Wattpad and if the story is good enough, I'll try to overlook the terrible writing. But this was a published author?!?! I don't know how it got past any editor. It would have 3 paragraphs worth of internal thoughts or dialogue and suddenly the next paragraph is the next day! Like the author thought the scene was boring so just skipped on to the next exciting part. Do not waste your time.
What another great read from Jill. Amber and Luke’s story was bittersweet because he lost his parents when he was young and stayed with his grandparents ever since, Amber was a hero I’m my opinion who spoke up and choose the right and difficult path instead the easy one and for that her childhood suffered but when she find a job in Pride, Oregon after her nearly being mugged in Portland, Oregon she find a different kind of family one who loves her for who she is. When tragedy hits Luke again he finds solace in Amber's arms. Can’t wait to read more from this series
Amber Kennedy was tired of living the big city life so when she is offered the manager position in the small town of Pride she cannot turn it down. Having to over come a ruff childhood she learns to depend on herself to get things done. Strong independent but a loner. Luke Crawford a gamer of sorts has strong family values he learned the hard way to value the advise of his grandmother. Well developed characters, full of life and a lot of fun. The story moves quickly and the storyline and plot is perfectly balanced.
Luke us an awesome guy and you can't help but love him.. Brought up by his grandparents after his parents tragic death, after college he returns to look after his grandmother when his grandpa dies too.. He wasn't looking for love until he is run over by the beautiful Amber, but she's not looking for her relationship, he last one was a disaster.. He spent all his time playing computer games and she vows never to fall for a guy like that, so when she hears Luke talking about the same thing, she judges him before she knows him.. so Luke makes is his mission to prove her wrong!!
Amber is the manager of a restaurant that will surely close soon. The absent owners do not want to put any money back into the business. As Amber leaves work one night, she is nearly mugged. She decides then that she has to find a new job. She finds a job in Pride. On her first day in town, she runs over a guy on a bike. Luke is racing through town on his old bike and not paying any attention to where he is and is hit by a car. Fortunately, he is OK but he was struck by a beautiful woman and knows almost immediately that she is the one.
As a character, I really enjoy Luke...an all around good guy who wants a bad guy reputation. Of course, Amber has him pegged as a "man-boy" but she's been there and done that.
This story doesn't have to be read in order because there is very little of the other residents of Pride Oregon front and center of the story.
Red Hot Christmas is a warm and wonderful story with characters who will win your heart. I started at the wrong end but I do not regret it at all. Now I can go back and discover the story behind all the other great people I met in the town of Pride!
It is much sweeter than the title sounds, but with enough heat to satisfy most readers of contemporary romance.
Jill is a new author for me .... what a wonderful surprise ... I loved the Pride Series and read all the books within one week ... Each book took me further into the lives and town of Pride ..... I feel as if I am part of a new family .... To me, books are a way to "escape" for a little while what is going on around you .... This series goes way beyond that ... thank you Jill !!!!
Oh I loved this! What a wonderful Christmas love story. Amber and Luke were made for each other. I'm still loving the town of Pride and all the other characters. It was nice to see Amber and Luke each find their family. The part of the storyline with Lukes grandmother was just beautiful and so well carried out.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read. It addresses the issue of not dating someone because they have some traits of previous dates/boyfriend/girlfriend. I loved how she brought this small town to life for me.
Love Luke and Amber story. It is was a wonderful story to read about two people coming over a past that haunted them and they over came. Had a great touch of humor in it also. Wonderful!!
Not the best book I have read of this author. I enjoyed reading the story despite the weak conflict of the book. Still, it's a good holiday book to read. The book does have some mild sex, but not steamy. I would recommend to readers.
What a wonderful heartwarming read from Jill Sanders. As always it had all the right elements for a quick read. The Pride series is always a good pick!
