Bruno Brazil on yksi Yhdysvaltain tiedustelupalvelun tehokkaimpia agentteja. Uransa alussa hän työskentelee yksin, mutta kun tehtävät muuttuvat monimutkaisemmiksi sekä vaarallisemmiksi, hän värvää avukseen joukon toinen toistaan erikoisempia seikkailijoita. ”Iskuryhmä Kaimaaniin” kuuluvat Gaucho Morales, Whip Rafale, Texas Bronco, Billy Brazil sekä Big Boy.
Suomessa käsikirjoittaja Michel Gregin (salanimellä Louis Albert) ja kuvittaja William Vancen luoma huikean jännittävä ja graafisesti nerokas Bruno Brazil tuli lukijoille tutuiksi 70-luvun legendaarisen Zoom-lehden sivuilla ja myöhemmin myös omina albumeinaan. Nyt koko sarja julkaistaan suomeksi kolmena hienona kokoelmana. Sarjan ensimmäinen kirja kokoaa yksiin kansiin vuosien 1967 ja 1970 välillä laaditut neljä Bruno Brazil -seikkailua, joissa nähdään Iskuryhmä Kaimaanin ensimmäiset vaiheet. Kaksi tarinoista julkaistaan nyt suomeksi ensimmäistä kertaa, ja yksi on aiemmin ilmestynyt ainoastaan jatkokertomuksena.

The series for which Greg is best known, Achille Talon, began in 1963 in Pilote magazine, also the source of comics such as Asterix. Regnier became editor-in-chief of Tintin magazine in 1966 and remained so until 1974. He introduced a more adult genre, with less perfect heroes and more violence. He created some of his most famous series like Bruno Brazil and Bernard Prince in this period, and introduced artists like Hermann to the magazine. In 1975 he became literary director for the French publisher Dargaud and launched Achille Talon magazine.
As "Greg", Regnier was one of the most prolific creators of Franco-Belgian comics, working in all genres and collaborating with many other European artists and scriptwriters. Well known for working with artist Hermann, Greg also worked with André Franquin, Eddy Paape (Luc Orient), Dany, Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny, and many others. It is estimated that he contributed as a writer and an artist to some 250 comic albums.
Hergé asked him to remake two of The Adventures of Tintin — The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun — into a script for one long animated movie, Tintin and the Temple of the Sun. He also wrote the script for Tintin and the Lake of Sharks.

Bruno Brazil personaje creado allá por 1968, viene inspirado por el James Bond versión Sean Connery, el agente de gobierno que no se inmuta ante nada y lucha contra malvadas organizaciones y conspiraciones, con un estilo que tira a realista. La diferencia es el material nivel PG-13 pues aparte de aparecer mujeres hermosas (que luchan pie a pie contra hombres) no hay signos de blatante intercambio sexual. ¿De dónde viene ese apellido? quisiera que alguien me lo aclarara.
La misiones son las que aparecen en cualquier pelicula de acción donde el jefe apunta un objetivo y el agente se encarga del resto. Sin embargo, a partir de la segunda entrega Brazil reune a una pandilla de singulares personajes en su "Comando Caimán" que parecen como salidos de la entonces famosa película "Los Doce del Patíbulo" con un toque de humor a lo que serían más tarde "Los Magnificos" (The A-Team), pues siempre parecen que actuan solos , algo asi como en las peliculas de Bruce Willis en Die Hard: mucha acción, explosiones , carreras de autos y disparos por montones.
Este tomo contiene las 4 primeras entregas que aparecieron en Tin-Tin:
1) El tiburón que murió dos veces (1968)
2) Comando Caimán (1969)
3) Los ojos sin rostro (1969-1970)
4) La ciudad petrificada (1971) -esta última recuerdo que me causó una tremenda impresión, y las escenas son de cualquier peli post-apocaliptica.
Bueno, a mi encanta, no sé a uds. Pero no le busquen mucha trama ni desarrollo detrás.
- Debo toda mi gratitud a haber conocido el comic belga-francés, y a algunos de sus emblemáticos dibujantes como Greg y Vance, a esa joyita que era la revista "Mampato". Mi hermano mayor la coleccionaba, y terminé siendo yo quien recogiera la bandera.

Hupaisaa 1960-luvun agenttimenoa James Bond-hengessä. Ovathan tarinat aika höpsöjä, mutta lisätähtiä tippuu hyvistä nostalgisista fiiliksistä. Näitä on Zoomista lueskeltu.

Kolme ja puoli tähteä. Nostalgia pyöristää ylöspäin vaikka taiteelliset ansiot ja tarinankerronta vahvasti puoltavat alempaa arvosanaa.

Gregin käsikirjoittama ja William Vancen piirtämä Bruno Brazil on agenttisarjakuva James Bondin hengessä. Vancen uraauurtava piirrosjälki sopii agenttitunnelmaan kuin nenä päähän, mutta tarinat ovat sillain huonolla tavalla gonzomaisia ja genretuotoksia, ettei niistä jaksa kauheasti innostua. Silti hienosti toimitettu ja koottu teos.

Seikkailija, agentti, salapoliisi- Bondkin kalpenee tämän eurooppalaisen seikkailijan rinnalla. Hopeahiuksinen Bruno Brazil kiehtoi nuorena ja toimivia seikkailuja ovat vieläkin. Värikäs apurijoukko tosin tuntuu kovin karikoiduilta hahmoilta, kuulunee genreen. Vancen selkeä piirrosjälki ei ole vanhentunut. Albumissa myös klassikkosarjakuvan taustoja ja historiaa. Myös aiemmin suomeksi julkaisemattomia tarinoita mukana.

Pidän todella paljon Vancen piirosjäljestä. Mutta tarinat ovat ihan liian yksinkertaisia ja suoraviivaisia. Iskuryhmän Kaimaanin hahmot eivät ainakaan neljän ensimmäisen tarinan aikana ole saavuttaneet minkäänlaista syyvyyttä (johtuneeko kovin suoraviivaisesta ja vauhdikkaasta kerronnasta). Ehkä tämä korjaantuu myöhemmissä osissa. Dialogi on paikoittain tosi kökköä.
Modesty Blaise miellyttää minua enemmän. Jos ei muuta niin tunnelman takia.

Syvästi viihdyttävä paketti vaikka välillä taide olikin pikkuisen hupsua ja kömpelöä.
