When star college footballer Ryder Cavanagh comes back to his hometown of Winter, he's supposed to be injured, but there's no sign of a torn ligament. He doesn't even limp. What he does have is a bad attitude that pushes everyone away, including his childhood friend, Jane Merriweather.
Seductive.
Jane has only ever wanted one thing - to lose her virginity to Ryder. Now he's back and she has a chance. But he's changed. He's not a nice guy anymore. He's cruel and angry, yet still as sexy as sin.
Mysterious.
Why has Ryder been sent home to torment Jane? And why can't she walk away from him forever?
Like ruin I am torn. I started off liking the story and then it totally took a 180. I loved Jane in Ruin, but by the end of this book, not so much. In Ruin I thought she was a sweet girl, strong but a little naive and sheltered. But this, she turned into a complete idiot and turned so weak and nothing like i thought she was. She allowed Ryder to walk all over her and treat her like crap and just basically get away with it. I was disappointed in the direction her character went. I liked her more towards the end, but the story is so short, it barely gives time to restore my faith in her. And the ending, I felt was rushed and I wanted more. I probably will not read Beth's story. I don't think there is enough for her and she wasn't THAT interesting and I would rather have Kate and Ben's or Jane's and Ryder's story wrapped up and get some answers.. Ryder I semi enjoyed in the start and then when he came back I really didn't like him. Again, the story line was decent and had potential. But fell very very flat. And he treated Jane like a sister more than anything. I did not feel any romanticness between them other than having sex. I get Jane loved him since they were born and etc, but I did not feel anything between them at all. If the book was longer and maybe things were a bit differen't, then maybe it could of happened. Also was very weird when he said he would have sex with her, but no kissing. Then they kiss. I thought that was stupid and pointless and why put it in there? I thought maybe there was going to be a reason or him say why he said that, but nope. SIGH. Also there is some British talk and words, which is fine if that's what you want. But if they are American and in an American state, town, city etc and if you get and assume they are American and not British, why do it? and also there were A LOT of errors unlike Ruin, I did not really find any then or noticed much. But this was a bit noticeable.
Sigh. I was pretty excited to read Jane's story but was let down. Over all it was decent and had potential. I may read more stories with THEM in the future. But won't read Beth's. They were a short read and maybe would recommend them to others. It depends on the person.
PS- Gran is HILARIOUS and probably the best thing in this series! #teamgran
I really enjoyed reading this book I really like Jane the shy girl from winter, Ryder was abit of an arsehole, I loved how the story began when Jane and Ryder are in high school together how they where together such really good friends but I think there was more to Jane and Ryder even tho they where friend you could tell they loved each other. Ryder left winter for college and stopped talkingvto Jane who stayed in winter then Ryder was back and everything changed from the sweet guy in high school to an arsehole but Jane never gave up she still believed that Ryder was still the sweet guy she knows, beautiful story looking forward to the next book about Beth
I really like this series and was hooked from the first book. It's simple and sweet with just a touch of drama. Nothing over the top or out in left field (except a hot football player lol).
