Revisited Scream Street 16 years since I've picked up the first copy back then, and I still wished I got a chance to live on that street.

Keep in mind that this is a children's book, the pace will be quick but there is enough depth to get to know the main trio better.

The first book details the "why" the main character was transported to Scream Street, and sets the story well and introduced the main trio - Luke, Resus and Cleo.

You will smile with the silly puns, interesting takes on folklore and also the illustrations really help in imagining what everything looked like!

This is the second book, and the premise is consistent across the first six books, the Founding Fathers are the interesting ones as they all have their own personality.
Definitely a worth read for all ages!

Child/teen me: 4.5
Adult me: 3.5

*For the first book in a "child/teen/middlegrade/nostalgic" book, I am going with the rating younger me would have gone with, then if I read on in the series, I will rate the books what adult me believes it should be rated. If the book is a stand alone, I will go with whatever rating I feel most comfortable giving the book. Please note, I do not really think books should have an age limit. People should read what they want to regardless of the intended age group, except for kids reading erotica or something, of course.*

I'm on the fence if I liked this one better than the first one or not. It was quite silly, but not in a bad way, and the author is obviously going with his own vampire lore of how vampires are made At least they don't sparkle. ha ha

A fun, quick paced read.

I think I enjoyed this one a smidge bit more than the first book. I really enjoyed the increase in vampire elements in this one vs the first book. Plus the creepy witch and her adorable pet cat shan reminded me so much of the old witch from the loony toons . I also enjoy how realistic the friendship feels between the three main characters. They're close ridiculously quickly which is normal for children but you still see the signs that they don't completely know each other yet.

This scream street book is better then the first the idea was brilliant of sir Otto sneer to cut of Luke’s blood supply so his father sucked the blood out of rats instead and then turned them into vampire rats the same thing happened with the cats as you can see the story line is very smart I rate this book 4 stars

Pas le meilleur livre de la série ( les parti au début du livre était un peut idiote comme si les personnages ne savaient pas que c’était Dixon plusieurs fois consécutive) et les partie avec le chat ma fait questionner ce que je lisait

A strong second book in the series introducing more characters from the street and expanding the lore.

Whilst there were no farting goblins this time around it was still packed full of adventure and scares.

What a wonderful second adventure! I'm really enjoying this world of domestic monsters, a truly deranged landlord and the main trio of fast friends.

A good follow-up to the first book in the series, though the ending was rather sudden for me.

Originally had this as one star but I didn't feel like that was fair. This book absolutely terrified me traumatized me as a 8-year-old. Something about the faces of the bitten made it worse for me everything about it was scary. I just think that makes it that much better because it was actually able to scare me. It got me out of my vampire obsession just for a little bit.

Another adventure is to be had by Luke, Resus and Cleo to save Luke’s ordinary parents from Scream Street. This is an entertaining story for a primary school audience and, I really enjoyed it when I was in primary school but, as a school library is unreliable, I never finished it. It’s an easy read with large text and pictures throughout the story which is really cool. Overall, this is a great kid’s book.

Luke the werewolf, Rhesus the pretend vampire, and Cleo the mummy continue their quest to collect the Scream Street founding fathers’ artifacts so Luke and his family can leave. This time, things are complicated by the town’s blood supply being cut off, which leads to a vampire infestation.

The first entry in this series was a little shaky but showed potential, so I gave this second one a shot and was not impressed.

My main issue is that the plot of these books is Luke’s parents hating Scream Street, so Luke wants to help them all leave, but we get very little of the parents as actual characters. We have one scene at the beginning of each book showing the parents being upset, but there’s no discussions between them and Luke, or even between each other that Luke overhears or anything. It’s especially frustrating because the second chapter of book one is entirely about Luke’s mom supportively trying to deal with his being a werewolf now. The parents went from characters who were giving things their best shot to props whose only quality is being afraid of scream street.

Add to this the boring, one dimensional villains, the entire lack of worldbuilding—what’s the government’s specific involvement in scream street, considering it’s run by a government agency? do the parents have jobs?—Rhesus’s cloak of conveniences, and the weird stoner zombie, and it’s not a very good book.

I’ll read the third as a final chance, considering these take half an hour to get through, but my hopes are not high.

I think I enjoyed this even more than the first one. The big vampire elements in this one were incorporated so well. Loved Shan the cat especially. Hate the deranged landlord, and his idiot nephew is hilariously stupid. Love the trio of friends and what a great team they make. Great adventure to read, and wonderful writing!

This book was a bit more silly than the first, but what do you expect from a kid's book involving monsters? It was still a fun read with the usual drama of the hunt for the relics alongside a new problem for the town created by the evil Sir Otto Sneer. A nice continuation of the story!

If you liked the first book this is more of the same. It's a little stronger in opinion.

Again, my 4th grade students love these books.
