Raised as a 'Military-Brat' I've had the pleasure of living in many different locals--some amazing and eye-opening, others boring and dull. Being raised in the military lifestyle gifted me the opportunity to meet people and see things I never would have otherwise.I refuse to grow up and become a boring adult. It will never happen. When not writing my stories you can probably find me advocating for Human Rights in many different venues. Some of those topics include the right to your own body, the right to love whomever you choose and the right to speak openly and freely without fear of persecution (whether that be personal or from the government). But most of all, I'm just me and it's always hard to write a bio on myself. If there's anything you'd like to know feel free to ask!

Ugh. I'm sorry, but this book was terrible. I might have given it two stars but the amount of grammatical errors made me take away a star. Did no one proof-read this book?
Original? No. Just because there was voodoo instead of vampires and werewolves does not make it original. I was having constant Twilight flashbacks.
Romantic? Not hardly. I was rolling my eyes so much I was concerned they might get stuck in that position. Dylan totally creeped me out. He came off obsessive and controlling. There is nothing romantic about a boy who doesn't have any friends and is constantly telling his girlfriend what to do and how to act.

Ugh,too many typos. I don't think the author's age is any excuse either. I took a look at book #2 to see if she had improved, but no luck.

Wow, that was some awesomesauce story telling. Megan White is quickly becoming one of my favorite YA Authors, she is seriously talented at bringing it with unique stories. Loved it!

When 17 year old Liz's Dad retires from the military, he decides to move back home with his mom in Louisiana. Liz isn't taking the move well, she's used to the transient life of the military and has no desire to go back to the house that her mother abandoned her and father in. With her 18th birthday quickly approaching, she tries to paste a fake smile on, grit her teeth and reign in her sarcasm to make her Grams and Dad happy, with the countdown to adulthood and college being her ultimate ticket out.

On her first day of school she meets some odd people who also seem to know more about her Grams than she does. She also meets the ever mysterious and intriguing, Dylan. A senior that lives fairly close to her Grams house and a boy that seems to know things, things about her, things about the past, things about her family. As secrets come out and a frightening threat seeped in Voodoo lands on the doors of Liz and Dylan, things get creepy, mysterious, and addictive.

Told entirely from the point of view of Liz, I loved this girl. She's funny, strong, and independent. I loved how she dealt with everything that was being thrown at her. If it had been me and I was finding out the sort of stuff she finds out, I would be freaking the frack out. It would not be pretty. But not Liz, yeah she has moments where she freaks a bit and really her decisions and who she places her trust in is pretty jacked but she's a teenager, dealing with a lot of creepy odd things.

Then there's Dylan. Dylan, hmmmm....I don't know. Something about him. If you've read the book or read the book you'll know what my hmmmm is about. He's interesting and while I found him intriguing, I never really fell into feelings for him. *shrug* He's okay, maybe he'll grow on me or maybe Liz will get a love interest that is much more worthy of her, either way I can't wait to read what happens.

Parrish Secrets is unique, it's creepy, it's freaking awesomesauce. I really loved it and need to read the next book as soon as freaking possible. I have a feeling this is going to be a series that I am going to be obsessing over. Kudos to Megan White for bringing elements to this storyline that I haven't seen done very often. Awesomeness, pure awesomeness. Go read it!

I received a copy of this story from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Before I can review the book, I have to go over a few cosmetic items. This book desperately needed editing! Numerous misspellings and use of the wrong word (he didn’t “lied” down on the bed) and please capitalize her grandmother, Grams. In addition, I think she took a bath maybe once the entire book. Her routine was get out of bed & throw on jeans and a t-shirt and head to school. When she got home, she would immediately go to bed. Yeah, every teen girl does just that especially when a boy enters the picture. I had to laugh when another character told her she smelled after she fell into the bayou.

As for the story, the book was very slow moving & the author attempted to tie together everything in the last few pages. I didn’t really like the heroine or get invested in the characters at all. I won’t be reading the next one.

What can I say other than what has already been said?
I wanted to come on here and say something witty and amazing but I see now that I have already been beat to the punch.

Thoroughly enjoyed this new series. Original plot, creative spin on a religion that has been drug through the mud by most of the entertainment world. Loved that we see the true side, also love how the author explained the religion without the wording coming off like a textbook.

Thrilling, exciting, a real page turner.
Good job, Ms. White

Hahahah macam tak percaya bertahun-tahun mencari buku ini, tapi bila dah dapat baca, tersangatlah mengecewakan.
Kira baik hati lah ini sebab cakap "Boleh lah" (trans: It was okay - hence, the 2 stars).

If you hate the Twilight series, the Mortal Instruments series and the likes, chances are you will hate this one too. So do yourself a favour and stay away from this book.

The only thing that I found remotely interesting - the voodoo part. The characters and the world building? Don't put your money on it.

So at first I was totally annoyed and wanted to know what the hell was going on! Very cryptic and the things the kids were dropping at school were driving me crazy. It took way to long to get to the good stuff! Talk about frustrating! Then the love story...ahhh....very sweet. But the Dad, I'm sorry but i thought he was a total douche bag. And honestly, I had NO clue that was going to happen. I totally was sucked into the comfort zone that was Dylan. In the end I would have fired his ass too! Keep strong sister and don't give in too easily!

I loved this book! Some grammatical errors but I have yet to read a book that is free from them. That being said, I enjoyed the read and the story is told well without me being a grammar nazi. This young woman did good. Her page says she's only 23. Good on yah! I wish more of our youth would put themselves out there and let the world know there is still some talent left to be discovered. I look forward to the next :)

I was blown away by this debut novel.
Loved Elizabeth in all her stubborn quirkiness. It was easy to get lost in-between the pages of this novel.
It was the HOTTEST winter I have ever been through. 13inch of snow and I was sweating!
I have already read this book 3 times, as well as 'Obsession'. Will continue rec' this series to anyone I know that enjoy a little paranormal thrill.

It had me on edge wonderin 'Who done it' and when I got to the point of finding out my jaw was on the floor. Never did I suspect *them* (Not trying to spoil it).
"I refused to give her the show that she so desperately craved and I smiled as I thought about ____, about the moments that he would replay my death day after day. He would remember me, the girl that he fed to the lions."

I breath of fresh air. We finally see the world through the eyes of someone that is not pinning after the mysterious lead, or is the awkward damsel needing saved. She didn't want Dylan, saw him as a distraction.
Elizabeth is a strong young woman with a heart wrenching past.
I really enjoyed this book!

I got 50% through with this book and finally gave up. I tried to like it, but I just couldn't relate to the characters, everything seemed so detached. I guess it was the writing style I don't know. I know a lot of people liked it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I also hate it in books where you can't even picture what the main character looks like bc there's not accurate description.

Parish Secret's kept me on the edge of my recliner (Yeah, don't be jealous of my comfy chair choice).
Ms. White hit this one out of the park! Can't wait to see what the world has in store not just for Elizabeth Parker but for this young author.

Welcome to the twisted world of Parish Secrets. Watching Liz come out of her shell and being in the middle of voodoo workings is crazy. You are constantly trying to figure out who to trust to the very end! This is not your normal paranormal type book. Something big is happening! Def a must read!
