sorry but for me it was a MF story turning MM ending MMF when it is obvious that the woman is the third wheel... Most especially when one guy cheat on his fiancee. Cheating is cheating and a major nono and give a shit that the guy acknowledged his bisexuality. GRRR

equality love and sex for all main characters dammit! and NO cheating under any circumstances. no excuses, no freaking fantasy reading MM sex scenes and the girl cheated behind her back. I do not care if remorse ate him and he decided to confess and include her later.

All the story focused on the MM relationship. Alex who was the third purposely destroyed a couple, 2 months before their marriage (and NO it does not make it better that they are engaged and not married). The girl was not even there physically and the fiancé was not man enough to tell the selfish brat to wait his fiancee before he could be involved... meaning that he was thinking with his dick and choose to cheat on his fiancee.

I understand falling in love for another person. But a person is not an animal and in a ROMANCE I do not want to read that the hero cheat, have remorse, confess and CONTINUE to cheat anyway saying that he still loves her. That show a weakness of character that I do not like in real life, certainly not in my romance!

How can I fall for a third that just think about himself no matter the damage. She was included not because he loved her but because he had no other choice if he wanted to keep the guy. No personal time with her to develop a love story.

And what can I say about the heroine who suffered, almost lost her fiancé, a guy she was with for years. Betrayal all through and through for more than 2/3 of the story. Romantic? really?

Sorry Mrs Ann Lister... your vision of ménage MMF romance is galaxies away from mine.

*READER DISCRETION ADVISED. If you don't like ranting and venting, then this isn't the review for you. These are my opinions and I mean no disrespect. All opinions are about the characters themselves. I admire the author's work and think she has great talent to make me react so strongly to her book. Proceed with caution*

I have to be honest…going into this book, I wasn’t looking forward to it. Normally I’m not into M/M books. But I’ve read ménage before so I was game to give this a chance.

And I was pleasantly surprised by this. I did have issues but I also enjoyed the story.

I liked Chase at first...how he was with Danni. I thought they had a great relationship. And I was even ok with his attraction to Alex when they first met. But somewhere along the way, I stopped liking Chase. I felt like he was selfish in his wants to the point that he was pushing things on Danni and Alex. When he started talking about the tripod and how Danni would accept it (before even talking to her about it) I wanted Chase to go away and for Alex and Danni to get together. Let Chase be the odd man out instead of him getting everything he wants and making the others fall in line. That that continued for me throughout the story. Chase just wouldn't leave them alone. The first sexual encounter Alex and Danni had, Chase had to come busting into and put himself in the middle. Then, when it looked like Alex and Danni were finally going to get one-on-one time, Chase put himself self in the middle again demanding pics through text message. If you want Alex and Danni together so badly so you can have both, then shouldn't you let them actually connect?! I just felt like it was ok for them to be together as long as Chase was somehow involved. But other than that, it wasn't ok. But the opposite was true for Chase. He didn't care how much it might hurt Danni, or how uncomfortable she was with it, he wanted to be with Alex, so he was. He gave his ok for Alex and Danni to be together but she never gave the ok for them to be together without her. And he went and broke that trust because he wanted to. He was selfish and Alex and Danni deserved better than him.

I couldn't help but feel like Alex and Danni never formed a real relationship. It was repeated over and over again that the relationship wouldn't work if Danni didn't want it as much or have the emotions for Alex, but I felt like Chase never gave them a chance. He never left them alone long enough to let that develop into a real relationship.

I have to preface my next thoughts with this statement: I truly believe that you can love two people at once, both man and woman (even though that hasn't happened to me personally). With that said, I just felt like Chase was selfish. He wanted Danni, but he wanted Alex too. And he wasn't willing to give either of them up. Come hell or high water, he was going to have both. Alex told him multiple times that they couldn't force Danni into the tripod relationship. Yet that's what Chase was doing. Every time it would come up and she would state her feelings on it Chase was there saying "You'll like it." "You can do it." "It will be great." And that's all fine and dandy but you're pushing her into it. She needed to go at her own pace. And it doesn't help when she wasn't able to spend time with Alex alone. They had issues that needed to be worked out but when that would happen and she would show her emotions, Chase was there saying "Lay off Alex." Um. No. She has a right to vent her anger and hurt at the situation she found herself in. To put it plainly, Chase was a selfish bastard.

Another issue with Chase, he put all the blame on Alex when things went bad. Chase could do no wrong and accused Alex of everything he could think of. And ironically enough, I thought Chase was the one guilty of everything he accused Alex of. Chase wouldn’t accept responsibility for his role in breaking up the relationship. And honestly, I didn’t blame Danni for her reaction. Chase and Alex broke her trust by hooking up without her being there or getting her approval prior to getting it on. Yes, she and Alex had been alone together but they had Chase’s blessing. And for them to break her trust, plus overhearing their exchange of ILUs, I felt bad for her.

As much as I loved Alex (and I did love Alex), there were times that I thought he needed to man up. If he really had feelings for Danni like he claimed, he should have been fighting for his relationship with her as much as he fought for his relationship with Chase. Both Alex and Danni loving Chase isn't enough for them to stay together. They need a relationship outside of Chase for it to work.

I also have to wonder if Chase was really bi-sexual. Because the book focused so much on Chase and Alex that it made me think that Danni was a safety blanket for him and he refused to let her go because of that. Even when they had sex, Chase's time with Danni was glossed over or done quickly so he could get to what he really wanted....Alex. And after they started the tripod, I can’t think of one time that Chase and Danni were together alone while in the tripod. After the relationship blew up in their faces, Chase was trying to get Danni back, but he never once said he missed her touch, or kissing her or the ache that only she could fill. No, that was all thought about Alex. Alex was the one he missed the touch of etc. It just made me feel like Danni was getting the short end of the stick. Two guys claim to love her yet one wasn't really missing her while "trying" to work things out (by talking) and the other never fought for her.

Overall, this book was enjoyable and I loved Alex and Danni. I wish there had been more scenes with them, showing the formation of their relationship outside of Chase. But I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes ménage or M/M books.

1 I-was-looking-for-more star

Let me start by saying how much I like a good ménage story.

They usually fall into two categories, either the author does an incredibly good job in building the characters and getting the reader to understand the dynamics of the relationship ... adding hot sex scenes here and there, or the author goes for a much shorter book, focusing on the sexual chemistry between characters that are only superficially described. And both are fine if well written.

This book tried to do both ... and in my opinion failed in a big way.

Big issue #1 was the lack of solid character development. What we are being told about each of them and the way they act are quite different stories :

- Danni sounding like the girl who wants honesty and open communication above anything else, relentless in her will to make Chase talk, then act, on his so-far repressed bi-sexuality, and then acting like a bitch and not even expressing the reasons for her anger when she decides to move away.

- Chase the supposedly nice guy who was always trying to protect both Danni and Alex's feelings who suddenly acts snappy and childish.

With this constant gap between what we are told and how they act, I just could NOT relate to the characters or even like them.

Then you've got the building of the "tripod". On one hand, Alex explained that, for this to work, emotions must exist between all three of them. On the other hand, he was willing (and even pushing) to consider a tripod with Chase and Danni before even meeting her ! ... so from there on everything seemed forced and I never really felt that emotions were actually building between Danni and Alex : we got a succession of hot (and repetitive) sex scenes with men sporting constant boners and Danni orgasming around the clock ... and bang this somehow translated into deep feelings and that's when the author resorted to the good old non-communication trick and everything blew !...

As if this wasn't bad enough, the author has a way to avoid difficulties by telling us things after the fact. When Danni came back from Colorado, I was impatient to read about Chase explaining her the situation, his feelings, the tripod story ... and nothing ... we were (as always) treated to a hot "welcome back" sex scene between Chase and Danni and were told much later that they "had a seriously long talk" ... WTF this was key to the story, to understand how Danni reacted to being dragged into this ... but no.

So, because I never DNF and the whole book was far too long for what was really happening, I ended up reading pages "diagonally", skipping some more sex scenes to read only about the story twists ... just to be served more good old romance clichés ... and all this with too many editing issues.

I came so close to DNFing about 3 different times.
Why? Because, Danni:

I don't care what the author is trying to sell you here, but Danni is the 3rd wheel. As much as we were set up for Zander to find his perfect tripod relationship, this didn't come across as an equal relationship.

Admittedly, menage is not my favorite. It does tend to make me pity the one I feel is the odd-man-out. But I have read some where I felt that all members were loved equally, so I keep giving these stories a shot. But I think I'm ready to give them up. Seriously.

The romantic in me kind of hates menage. The romantic in me really hates this menage. When the characters are saying these sorts of things, I can't really swoon, you know?:
"Because, I love pussy as much as I love cock. I need both to feel whole."

"What can I say," Alex shrugged. "I can't decide whether I prefer dick or pussy, so I do both."

"I want to be whole, Danni; with the love of both a man and a woman..."

What it boils down to is that Alex (Zander) is in love with Chase. Though he's the one in this whole tale who has the love for and experience with committed menage relationships, his willingness to make things work with Danni came across as something he just had to do to be with Chase. There was no real connection on these pages. Danni wasn't even introduced to Alex until the middle of the book, so it was hard to swallow that there was a deep relationship developing. Given that Alex was supposedly so adamant about the Tripod relationship working, you would think the author would have devoted more page time to Danni and Alex falling in love, that maybe she would have written more about Danni and Alex missing each other during the separation... but, no. It was Chase and Alex. Chase and Danni. This was more TRIANGLE than MENAGE and I loathe triangles.

The head-hopping that was so prevalent and annoying with the first book is not nearly as noticeable in this one, though there is a little bit. There are a few typos, grammar issues, etc., but that's all nothing compared with the lack of equal-love in here. Alex and Danni don't love each other. Straight up.

Ok I’ve had enough time to digest this book and get all my venting out of my system.

This is my second Ann Lister read and second book of The Rock God series. The entire series, except for this installment, is MM. This story is an MMF - an engaged couple, Danni & Chase, and a Rock star, Zander.

I love Ms Lister’s writing style and the cast of characters are great. Oh and the sex is pretty hot as well. All things considered this should have been a 4 star read for me.

What I didn’t enjoy was the triad relationship as it didn’t ring true from inception and I could not relate to the characters nor their decisions.

Danni learns her fiancé Chase is bi-curious, after catching him watching gay porn, right before she leaves for a 2 month trip.

Sexy Rock star, Zander, moves in next door and instant attraction between the men. Danni gives permission for Chase to “get it out of his system”, not thinking he’ll act on it nor expecting it to go beyond one night. (well that sure backfired!)

What I didn’t like was Zander pursuing Chase even knowing he was engaged and confused and Chase, for all his profession of love for Danni, seemed like he was two shakes away from giving in to Zander before Danni even gave “permission”. He, at least, wasn’t honest with Danni with how drawn he was to Zander and wanting more and that, for me, was the beginning of the disrespect by both men for the relationship between Chase and Danni.

The story was all about the men falling in love and Chase “finding himself”, while knowing he was hurting Danni, but that seemed ok because he didn’t mean to hurt her. The relationship between all three felt like a forced event, was in no way organic and reeked of selfishness by Chase. Danni was not an equal partner in the triad and nothing, from start to finish, could sell it any differently. To me it honestly felt like he was cheating on her and then it morphed into selfishness with him wanting them both.

While I didn’t like the direction this story took, it was still well written and hot (although I couldn’t get into it) and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

Take What You Want is Book Two in the Rock Gods series. This is Zander's story. We learn in, Fall For Me, Zander is bi-sexual and his preferred relationship preference is a menage, with two men and a woman. When Zander moves to a small island to rest after a very long world tour, he falls for the handsome bi-curious estate manager, Chase Middleton, and his beautiful fiancee, Danni. What happens after that is a wild ride that none of them expect, nor can they walk away.

If you enjoyed Book One in this Rock Gods series, Fall For Me, you will love Zander's story, even more! Dagger and Ryan make several appearances in Take What You Want, and I'm certain you'll love reading the updates on that Rock Royalty Couple, too!

Buckle up. Zander's story is a long, wild ride.

** This is a m/m/f menage story in every sense of the definition.

I Don't even know where to begin. This book was written to tell us about another story of The Rock Gods and after reading the other books, I was obviously eager to read more. I think what I didn't expect was to feel very deeply about this story. It has a tight grip on my heart and won't be letting go any time soon.

Alex AKA Zander needs time out and decides to have a vacation, a very long vacation, leasing a home for a year. What he didn't anticipate was falling in love with not one but two people, one man, one woman. Alex is openly bi sexual, he didn't really want to come out but like all things when in the media spotlight these things tend to always come out. He is such a deep person, his heart is filled with pure love, it would be hard for anyone not to fall in love with him. I fell completely head over heals in love with this character. I wanted him to have everything his heart desired.

Chase works on the properties surrounding his home, one of them being where Alex is staying, they have an instant connection. Chase only just previously told his girlfriend about his sexual fantasies and as much as she is supportive of their relationship, she didn't completely understand the magnitude of what was really happening.

Danni is Chase's partner, they are engaged to be married. Her world is turned upside down and she is struggling to deal with it all. I have to say, I was very conflicted about Danni. Her character although beautiful left me wondering what it was I didn't like about her. I think maybe the fact that Alex and Chase got to spend some time together when Danni was working away, I was so involved in what was happening between them, it was breath taking to read and Danni didn't see this happening, so maybe it took her longer to realise what we were reading was love, what she was feeling was jealousy.

It is hard to say how one would feel unless it happened to them. Yes Danni was very open minded and loved Chase but she was seeing change, everything she knew was never going to be the same again, so I think I should definitely cut her some slack. I do think she is a strong woman with lots of love to give and I would say she is very lucky woman. Oh, I don't know maybe I just wanted her to see what I could see, well read, you know what I mean.

This is how much this story affected me, I couldn't possibly be anymore invested in this book than I already am. I loved the journey, reading about Alex, Chase and yes even Danni. Who am I to judge how she dealt with things affecting her life. What I will tell you is this story is filled with the greatest kind of love where anything is possible.

This book was definitely one of my all time favourites. The story was written beautifully and no doubt was left about how talented the Author is. Ann Lister literally covers every aspect of her stories. Just sheer brilliance that leaves me wanting more. I am off to read book 3 in The Rock God Series, it seems to be a favourite amongst readers so I am looking forward to beginning a whole new chapter.

My Review:
Flat out, I loved this book. I had a really hard time putting it down, but I'll state right now, the reason I loved it so much was Alex and Chase. I had a few issues with Danni, but I will get to that in a moment.

But the set-up with Chase and Alex was just perfect. Chase is a straight guy, engaged to Danni, but he's always been bi-curious...although he's never admitted it to anyone, even himself. When Danni catches him masturbating to gay porn, she pushes until he admits a fascination...one that he assures her that he NEVER plans to act on. As timing would have it, Danni goes away for a 2 month school right before Alex moves in. Alex is bi-sexual and immediately drawn to Chase. At the same time Alex is pursuing Chase, Danni is pushing him to think about what he truly wants and pushing him to maybe explore all that. Then things happen...and Danni freaks out.

That is my issue. She pushed, then did exactly what he feared would happen. And I have to give the author credit because she wrote Danni exactly the way most women would react and as much as I hate it, it was probably right. But it made it so hard for me to like Danni's character in this book. I adored both Chase and Alex and all I could see was Danni screwing everything up over and over again. I want to fall in love with all the characters that should be in love together.

But regardless of that, I did really, really enjoy the book. I was totally pulled into the story and ignored my work all day to sneak "just a few more pages" reading....a sure sign of a good book. I cannot wait to read more of this series....maybe Cooper and Jayson next?? Because I can already tell there is so much more to their story and I want to read it.

This was a really long book. First let me just say that I loved Alex and I loved Chase Danni not so much in the beginning she was ok and she encourage Chase to act on his bi side and once he did she flips out. Alex Metcalf Rock Star came to the island after a long tour and a break up with his girlfriend after being outed on the cover of a magazine kissing a man while his girlfriend was sitting on his lap to rest and write some music. Alex rented a mansion that had a guesthouse that Chase and Danni lived in. Danni came home early from work one day and caught Chase jerking off to gay porn on the internet. What I disliked about Danni is that she was ok with him having a fling thinking that he would get it out of his system and although Chase never meant to have feelings for Alex he did and he tried to be honest with her she acted like he did it to hurt her. Throughout the story you get to see how the three of them try out a menage relationship there is a great deal of sexual chemistry between the three of them, but circumstances arise and things don't turn out so well. During the course of this book you see many different emotions and conflicts and the three are separated with Alex returning back to California. Although this is a series and I do have the first one I read this one first and I will read the other one's. This was my first time reading this author. The book was a little drawn out to me and I know with all the emotions I found that I had to stop at times. I am looking forward to read the rest of the books in this series.

Hot, scorchingly book. Normally I would not say that reading about two guys getting at it, would get me hot and out of breath, but Ann Lister certainly know how to write the sexy scenes between Alex and Chase. Throughout the book I just wanted to keep reading and at no point at all was this book boring or drawn-out. Towards the end of the book my heart was beating so loudly and my heart was in my throat.

This book got me hooked right from the beginning, with the revealing of Chases bi-sexual side, (how embarrassing it mustn't be for both parts - read the book and you will know what it is), to the part where Alex and Chase meets for the first couple of times - I must say that Alex is not self conscious about his own body.

Even though a male relationship was new to Chase I kind of liked that he was not a frightened, restraint, little scared boy (which the female part often is). No Chase knew what he wanted and was definitely a top.

Danni... hmm, I don't know what to say about her. She was for me a small part of this book, and yet she had a very important saying in this tripod. For me this book was more a mm book and not a menage book, but that did not make this book less fantastic.

I read the first book in The Rock Gods series which I really enjoyed so when this book was released I did not hesitate to download it. This is my first m/m/f read, I was not sure I was going to enjoy it as much as the first book so it has sat on my Kindle for a while. I read a review by GGR Review which advised to keep a open mind and consider the feelings of each person in this three way relationship, that is exactly what I did!
Ann Lister has written a amazingly beautiful story which gave me lots to think about. I could feel the love, passion, Jealously and uncertainty coming from each character and yes I wondered if and how a relationship could work with three people long term. I also found myself wondering how I would feel and behave in the same situation, could I give the amount of trust truly needed! I really did enjoy every page of this book and adored the characters especially as it included a couple from the first book.
This is a story that will affect your heart as well as your mind and most certainly confirms that true love is love no matter what society considers as normal...such a precious gift you should grab it and hold on tight!!
I am now looking forward to more from this amazing author.
Highly recommend!!!

This five star book was amazing! A bottle of wine and a vibrator would make it a perfect date... This book had my heart pounding, panties melting and eyes filled with tears from one moment to the next.. I hung on every word of every page never once wanting to put it down.. Danni is stong, sexy and deeply in love with Chase yet she knows she cannot give Chase everything he truly desires. Chase will go to the end of the earth for Danni to give her the life she desires knowing deep down he will never be truly satisfied.. Alex (rock Star) can give them it all... The ménage was intimate, passionate and fucking hot as hell... Its a must read !!!

I’m a huge fan of triads, so I was excited to get this, but it was not my favorite. First off, the author kept referring to the relationship as a tripod, and I kept picturing a camera stand. Also, I think the relationship felt too forced. The relationship between a Chase and Alex was believable, but the inclusion of Danni didn’t feel natural. At one point, I didn’t understand Chase’s continued devotion to her.

It comes down to I liked it, but I honestly would have enjoyed it more if Chase had left her for Alex. Leaving the focus on the guys.

A fabulous 4.5 stars!

This is the second book in the Rock Gods series and where the first book, Fall for Me, was m/m this one is a ménage or tripod. I’m not a big fan of ménage as a rule and have probably read maybe three or four but when it is done well I’m OK. In this instance it was a no brainer as I had already invested myself in Zander or Alex as he refers to himself off stage, from the first book. So I was there with baited breath seeing who Alex ends up with. We knew from book one that his preference was a threesome (m/m/f) so it was interesting to see this evolve.

Alex takes himself off to a small island for some downtime after the last tour and rents out a house where he finds himself falling in lust with the caretaker Chase. At first it’s all innocent jesting with each other but then Alex finds himself wanting more and he goes on full on manoeuvres to get Chase into his bed. The name Chase is apt for the story as Alex really does have to chase Chase! He knows Chase is hesitant and doesn’t want to acknowledge his secret desire to be with a man. Chase up until now has been having secret rendezvous with his laptop and gay porn sites to feed his fantasy but seeing Zander Metcalf walking down the drive just put his fantasy into overdrive.

Chase was an enigma at first for me, after all he is deeply in love with his fiancée Danni but knowing about this secret side of him just gave him another dimension. Danni finds out about his secret just before she leaves for a business trip which coincidently happens at the same time Alex appears on the scene leaving the two hot men alone so what happened was inevitable.

I loved Chase and yes I know he was a selfish so and so at times but I just loved him. The rapport and interaction with Alex was off the charts. I think this is why I loved the scenes with just the two of them more as a lot of development was in their storyline. It was so sizzling hot and steamy I was hooked good and proper.

Now as for Danni, hmm well she was a little hard for me to accept when she eventually returns to the house. I can see after a good few weeks after reading the book why I was like that. I was all for the men and never really gave her a chance but hell I am now realising how insecure she would be feeling. It was good that this added a touch of angst to the read though, always good to throw in some angst! I loved the scenes with her and Chase, even liked the ones she had with Alex and the ones they all had together were hot. But for me it was the emotional element between the three. I would have liked more interaction with Alex and Danni to strengthen their connection more. And this is the only, ONLY reason this hot read is not a full five rating for me. I told you I was picky about my ménages!

However it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of this book and in fact has cemented my love for this series. I adored how Dagger and Ryan appeared intermittently throughout the book. It was lovely to catch up with them and see them……well I won’t spoil it for new readers. Oh and next is Cooper and..…again I won’t spoil it *winks*

I have only recently ‘discovered’ Anne Lister but straight away downloaded three of her books and read them in succession which firmly placed her on my ‘download without needing to read the blurb’ list of authors. Not many are on that list so that just goes to tell you how fabulous her books are. This is one of them and I strongly, nay HIGHLY recommend you read this book, but read book one first. Then you will fall in love with the Rock Gods. Just like me.

I’m a relatively new reader to the menage genre, so didn’t know what to expect when I started Take What You Want by Ann Lister. This isn’t a frivolous sexual situation between these characters. They are truly struggling with identities and expectations of what their relationships should be. I was pleasantly surprised with how Ann dealt with the emotions and real life situations of relationships like this. The feelings you have for these people is real, keeping me hooked on this book late into the night.

Zander Metcalf, the lead singer/guitarist for his band Ivory Tower is unlucky in love. Having been in a failed “tripod” relationship, he is not actively looking for anyone to fill this role. While taking some much needed time off, Zander finds himself attracted to the caretaker of his rented property. The problem with this, you ask? This guy is engaged to be married to another woman. Not to mention that this guy has just recently come out of the closet with his sexuality. Not exactly a uncomplicated relationship he’s entering into. The caretaker, Chase Middleton is happily in love with his fiance, Danni Martin. But he’s harboring deep feelings of attraction to men, something Danni is unaware of. Definitely not a good thing if you plan on marrying someone of the opposite sex, right? Ann dives headfirst into this dilemma with a honest POV. You get all the feelings of that you would expect when the person you love discovers they want someone else–confusion, jealousy, and anger. I loved that we see this side of things. I really felt for Danni in the beginning of this story. She is blind-sided by Chase’s revelations. But as the story unfolds, you begin to see why Chase feels the way he does about Zander. He is a kind, compassionate, and loving person. He’s is accepting of people as they are. It’s hard not to fall in love with him. So even while Danni is struggling with this new situation, she finds herself falling for Zander as well. But this woman infuriates me so much toward the end of the book. I wanted to shake some sense into her. But ultimately I understand her feelings. In this day in age, a relationship like this is not accepted by society, coupled with the raw emotions she is coping with makes you sympathize with her, Chase, and Zander.

Ann’s writing completely sucks you into the story. The intimate scenes are hot as hell! I know I blushed quite a few times during a couple of the more intense parts of the story. Ann gets right to the heart of these wonderful characters. Because the story is written in third person. the reader gets all the emotions and angst going through the characters heads. You’re totally invested in the story from the beginning. She also gives you a great deal of back story for each character, something that I must have with a good book.

Take What You Want is a really good read. You get a highly emotional, deep, and sexually charged book about people realizing love doesn’t fit into a traditional mold. Ann’s story also hooks you with the rock star angle that makes such a plot line realistic. Her third person POV is clear and concise, allowing the reader into the minds of the characters, forging a strong bond that hooks you from the get go. I give Take What You Want by Ann Lister 4.5 out of 5 stars!

ARC kindly provided in exchange for a fair and honest review. Spoiler-free. HEA/no cliffhanger. 4.50 – 5.00 stars. This book can be read as a stand alone.

I have a tripod. Well I don’t have this kind of tripod. My tripod is used for selfies and family photos. Well...it turns out that my tripod isn't as sexy as the M/M/F tripod arrangement In Take What You Want (The Rock Gods #2) by Ann Lister. Who knew?

Xander (Alex) is a smoking hot bisexual rock God who leaves LA for some much needed R&R. He rents a house and meets Chase, the hot property manager. Chase lives on the rental property guest house with his fiancée Danni. Danni leaves their home for a few months to finish school. Before she takes off she has a conversation with Chase about his attraction to men after she catch him watching gay porn. She encourages him to explore this side of himself before they get married.

Alex suspects Chase is also bi and is very attracted to him. Chase reluctantly tells Alex that he has always been bi-curious. The two men become fast friends their budding attraction starts to become undeniable. Well one thing leads to another and the two men act on their nuclear chemistry (Thanks for melting my Kindle screen Ann ; ) Alex wants to meet Danni when she returns from school. He is eager to see if they can turn this relationship into a tripod since they are both like P&A. Can this unlikely union work? Does Chase want to share Danni? Does Danni even want to hook up with someone other than her fiancée? Can Chase have his sweet piece of rock god man cake and eat it to? Can Alex finally find love with a couple? I’m not spoiling this one.

Aside from the panty/jock strap melting steam factor…this story is filled with love, lust, heartbreak and everything in between. Ann Lister nailed all of the angst of the trios’ journey into pursuing this alternative lifestyle/union. I will say I didn’t connect with Danni as much as I did with Chase and Alex. Her involvement with Alex didn’t seem as authentic and intense.

I totally understand that gay erotica isn’t for everyone. Hell, vanilla erotica isn’t for everyone ;). If you want to give it a whirl…check out this series. Ann Lister is a rock star of a writer. Fall For Me (Book #1) is also equally amazing. This woman can write blistering hot, gay, toe curling erotica! I’m dying for the next book. Take What You Want is absolute Kindle Crack. ❤❤❤❤❤

Well, my reviews are mostly me fangirling over an author I love and this one won’t disappoint you in that regard. My affair with Ann’s characters started with the first book of the Rock Gods series, Fall for Me. Rock star and a journalist falling in love, what’s not to like? Plus I love rock music. And gay romance. And Ann Lister’s writing.

But I have to be honest and tell you, I had my doubts about liking Take What You Want as much! I was so wrong, I want to slap myself.

Why did I raise my questioning eyebrow before reading? I could say that I was wondering why I’d need a girl spoiling my m/m fun, but the truth is when some stories are too close to home, I have a hard time reading them. In my opinion, Danni is suddenly faced with something she really did not sign up for, sharing her bond with her fiance with someone else. If you’ve ever been in a relationship where the rules and requirements suddenly change, a relationship that forces you to either adapt and take something you don’t really want, or give up, you’ll definitely relate to Danni.

I expected to do just that and be biased. Instead Alex was my favorite from start to finish. The expandable piece of the puzzle, as he often saw himself, which made me dislike Danni a bit. Just when I thought I would never connect with her, things fell into place and the whole tripod suddenly made sense.

This book isn’t really a simple m/m/f story, it’s more about accepting the loved ones as they are and understanding people come in all shapes and sizes, and that includes romantic and sexual preferences. Alex and Chase are the in-your-face representatives of an alternative lifestyle, but the truth is Danni is just like them in more ways than you would have imagined in the beginning.

Usually, when you hear the words three way or threesome, you tend to think of fun, experimenting, bliss. In reality, when it’s a three way relationship, Alex’s tripod, it takes a lot more effort and understanding than a two person relationship. Why? Because there are three people who have to be happy and when hell breaks loose, there is more than one person to placate.

Ann Lister again delves into the world of famous entertainers, pointing out the behind the scenes bits: the bloody scratches and bruises fans are responsible for, the need to hide to get some privacy, the viciousness of paparazzi. I love how this side of the story is portrayed, with Alex never really complaining about it.

In short, totally loved the book and can’t wait for the next one in the series. As it happened with the first one, if you read book two, you might just guess whose story is up next :)

5 STARS
5 Thumbs up for holy hotness!

I loved this story! I read the book in one setting (sorry family for ignoring you). I just could not put it down. It does not take long to get to the good stuff. That is a big positive for me. This book has many of the elements that I like to read; A. Hot Rock Star, B. Alpha Male Hotness and C. A Love Story. This story contains M/M. M/F/M and M/F smoking hot sex.

The characters Alex “Zander”, Chase and Danni captivated me in many different ways; Alex knows what he wants a fulfilling tripod relationship, Chase is conflicted about his sexuality but as soon as he realizes the truth he is not ashamed and Danni needs to understand where she fits in with the guys. Watching these characters build their relationship and develop their connection was emotional and enjoyable. The story shows the reader how important communication in a relationship is and how important it is to accept who you are to be a happy/healthy human being. This story has several Medium angsty parts, which I had to hold back throwing my kindle through the wall, but all in all it was not too bad. Danni did get on my nerves a few times for being so wishy-washy. Alex is patient with both Chase and Danni and out of patience comes a powerful love. Patience + Persistance = Alex, Chase and Danni.

Ann does a great job of including; heartbreak, angst, love and a few tears. There were several parts in this book that had me laughing one minute and crying the next. This book was very well written and the flow of the story keeps you reading. This is my second Ann Lister book and I am definitely a huge fan!

This book is a stand alone with a HEA but it is a series and it helps to read “Fall For Me” first so you get to see how it all began. It covers Dagger and Ryan’s story. I am partial to these stories because you get to know the characters more in depth. I am looking forward to Cooper’s story in book #3 “Make Me Yours” (Rock Gods #3).

Take What You Want from this book and enjoy, you will not be disappointed. Be prepared to love Chase, Alex and Danni. Thank you Ann for giving me a beautiful love story.

Quotes I enjoyed:

- “When you fall in love, when you take that leap, it’s as natural as breathing; it’s as simple as that. I’m romantic because my heart demands I be nothing less than one hundred percent, for you, day and night.” – Alex

- “I’m crazy about you,” he whispered into the wisps of Chase’s hair. “Do you realize that? You crawled inside my heart and I’m a goner now. I hope you’re happy with yourself.” “Very Happy,” Chase slurred the two words.

- “Allow yourself to feel it and he’ll soon be living in your soul,” Chase said.

Okay first let me say this I am a selfish bitch and I am not sure I would want to share my man with anyone but the thought did cross my mind after reading this book because HOLY EFFING ROCK STAR these three really had something special and it was just not thrown together and half ass like most menages are but this is a story about self discovery and coming out with the feelings that you feel. I think a lot of times when men are gay and in the closet or are curious and just want to know what it would be like to be with a guy and a girl it is scary for them because they do not want to be judged as being gay or bi when they don't know what they want but for Alex, Chase, and Danni it worked for them because God bless Danni she was willing to do whatever it took to understand her fiance and his deep needed needs. Girl my hat goes off to you because I am not sure I would be okay with that because like I said I am selfish!

Alex is a burned out rock star who has been on tour for a long time but hey it comes with the territory of being a rock star. But while on tour Alex's sexual preferences come to light and the media has a frenzy with it. The media can't get or say enough about the gay rock sex God Alex. So Alex decides he needs a break and he needs to go somewhere quiet where he can write his music and be by himself. So he gets a place in the quiet serene town of Martha's Vineyard. It is there that he meets the gorgeous estate manager Chase and Chases fiance Danni.

Alex knows he feels something instantly for Chase and he is not sure if Chase swings that way but he soon finds out that Chase is Bi curious and wants something with him but he is not willing to leave his fiance and wants Danni to be a part of this relationship and friendship. When Chase talks to Danni she is confused and she is not sure this is something she wants to do but she loves Chase so she is willing to go to the ends of the earth for him.

When the three get together it is amazing what happens and I won't ruin it for you the reader but I will say this I give Danni a lot of credit because she is a girl with determination and she is willing to do anything for her true love. I can't wait for the next book in the series about Cooper lord I would love to like Cooper like a lollipop all over! tehehehehehe

WOW! I am thoroughly in awe of this book and the beautiful love story between Alex, Chase and Danny. This book was definitely an emotional roller coaster with tons of ups and downs but the perfect HEA ending and the countless passion filled moments and pure love which emanated from the page makes the whole journey these characters took super gratifying. From the beginning I felt invested in the lives of these characters and even through all the hardships I found myself rooting for them to find happiness and solace with each other. The chemistry between all 3 lead characters is off the charts and the love scenes are some of the hottest I've ever read. Ann Lister knows how to write a powerful erotic romance story. I was a fan after reading the first book in the Rock Gods series and am now officially obsessed. We are first introduced to Zander/Alex Metcalf in "Fall for Me" as a secondary character and I couldn't wait to read his story. I have to say after reading this book, it was more than I could have hoped for. I'm not going to spew a long drawn out summarization of this book cause I really feel like it would be a waste time. I will say the story is captivating with sex scenes that will have your jaw on the floor (yes they are that HOT). More than that though is the complex love story between Alex, Chase and Danni and how they navigate through this exciting and scary relationship together. All I can say is READ THE BOOK. I promise you will not be disappointed. In fact, I can guarantee you will be turned on beyond belief from the intimate moments these charactes share and will have just as much trouble putting this book down as I did. My only concession would be that the epilogue wasn't further in the future where we could get a glimse into their future. After everything these characters endured to be together it woyld have been extremly gratifying to get to experience their wedding. I also would have loved to seen them in 2 or 3 years time living as a "tripod" in domestic bliss with at least one baby. Obviously I didn't write the book and didn't get a say and I do wanna reinforce how satisfying the ending to tis book wad, but I can't help but want more. That said, this is by far one of the best books vie read in a while and deserves to be praised and reccomended.

Chase and his fiance Danni live on the estate of a luxury holiday home on Martha's Vineyard. Chase is the property manager. When Danni catches Chase watching M/M porn on his laptop she asks him if he is curious about being with another man. He admits that he is but has never acted on it. They tuck it away in the 'fantasy' draw for maybe something they could explore sometime. Danni has to leave the island for two months for work, just before the new holiday home tenant arrives.

Alex 'Zander' Metcalf is in the famous rock band, Ivory Towers. He is burnt out after 18 months on tour and in desperate need to unwind and get into the headspace to write some new songs for the band. Alex's name has recently been all over the news about his bi-sexual preferences so getting away from the paparazzi is another reason for his timeout on the island.

So Alex is hot and sexy, Chase is hot and sexy and you can see where this is going right? Yep, Alex flirts with Chase - a lot, he skinny dips during the day, masturbates out on the lounger and asks Chase blunt questions about his sexuality.

Chase eventually succumbs to his desires and explores a bit with Alex. He is completely honest with Danni about what he is doing and even though she encouraged him to explore this curiosity he had, she didn't think he would.

Danni returns home, unsure about where her relationship with Chase now stands and wonders if he even still wants her.

Chase and Alex want Danni to try a tripod relationship with them. Chase loves Danni and has very strong feelings for Alex. Alex is in love with Chase and thinks Danni is smoking hot. Danni loves Chase and is attracted to Alex so maybe it could work?

This book is so smoking hot that you will be reaching for your bedmate to relieve the pressure, I'm not kidding! More importantly though is that it is a beautiful love story and portrayed so well, it builds slowly and just feels so right. Prepare to read this book feeling completely overwhelmed with those sexy endorphins tingling all over you!

By far one of the hottest ménage's I have ever read. This is book 2 in Ann Lister's The Rock Gods series. I actually read this book as soon as it originally came out but I only realized that I had never posted my review of it so I just couldn't have that happen. Oh wait, did I mention it was a fabulous reason to reread it as well. It sure was and I loved it even more the second time. I don't think anyone writes a hotter sex scene than Ann Lister!! Heed this warning peeps: you will need deep breaths and lots of fanning in this one!!

Alex is the guitarist for Ivory Tower and while on a little break from the rock band life he decides to go somewhere quite. He wasn't looking for love but that instant attraction is just not gonna be denied when he sets his eyes on the "straight" Chase. Chase has had some male attraction in his life but never considered acting on it. He has a long time fiancé, Danni, whom he loves deeply but when Alex is around Chase can't help but question his needs. Once these two men can't deny their attraction it leaves Chase is one heck of a predicament. He only sees one solution-he wants them both. Convincing Alex isn't that hard as he is super attracted to Danni but convincing Danni is the tough one.

I loved all three of these characters. Alex is put in some vulnerable spots which just makes you wanna give him big hugs. Chase is tough he seems to know what he wants and just goes for it. He is also a bit of a softie as he just hates to see his lovers hurting. Now most people either love Danni or just want to slap her for being so difficult. Me I loved her. Heck her world was ripped apart for a bit and she was angry. I mean who wouldn't be if your man tells you I love you but I also love him. Like I said earlier the sex is just off the charts hot. I was panting a few times for sure. I absolutely loved this book people and you should most definitely go get this one if you haven't already. If you have read it why not just pick it up again and give it a reread. Its so worth it!!

Even though I loved book 1 of this series, I put off reading this one for quite a while. Although I enjoy MMF ménage, I detest cookie cutter plotlines that are often found in MMF. You know how they go, they are a happy threesome where the focus is pleasuring the girl and then the boys suddenly realize they are attracted to each other. That is SO NOT THIS BOOK I am very happy to say.

The story starts with Chase and Danni. The are in love, happy and engaged. Honesty and communication are their strength. So when Danni catches Chase watching gay porn, Chase admits to having been attracted to other men in the past, but he emphasizes his commitment to Danni and tries to shut that door. Danni continues to push a bit and when his new tenant, Alex, moves in while Danni is out of town...sparks fly. Instant, strong attraction and connection. When Danni discovers Chase's attraction, she encourages Chase to explore that attraction thinking he would just get it out of his system...and the problems begin.

What happens next is one, big, fat angsty ride. The author did a great job conveying Chase's divided heart. Yet, one of the things I absolutely loved (and hated) was

I was also glad to see that Danni didn't automatically fall in line. Her feelings, concerns, hesitations, and reactions were realistic and made the story all the more believable.

What I didn't like was

This is another great book. Alex is a famous rock star (Zander) , who has being feeling the need to take a break and retreats to Martha's vineyard ... There He meets Chase the property manager who lives in a cottage behind the property He is renting. Chase's fiancé is going out of town for a training in Pilates. Chase had just confessed to Danni (his fiancé) that He had like men since High school but never acted on it. Chase meets Alex , they start talking but the attraction is almost instantly palpable. Chase confesses this to Danni and her reaction is to tell him to try one time to get it out of his system. Things don't go as planned. Chase and Alex don't want to part from each other , but Chase doesn't want to lose Danni. When Danni returned ... Many things developed ... Until Danni feels threatened by a conversation she heard between Alex and Chase. Separation , difficult feelings and broken hearts. Chase and Danni need to make a decision of what they want. Tragedy comes ... This could be what they needed ... To decide to take what they finally wanted.

I loved Fall For Me so I was soooo excited when this was released. It's less angsty than Fall For Me. Ann Lister knows how to write steamy sex. Alex and Chase were off-the-charts hot together. I loved the dirty talk and when Chase dominated Alex! *fans self and clears throat* Anyway, the reason for the 4-star review and not 5 is my own preference. I don't mind menages, but I prefer the menage to be all men. I'm just not into girly parts in my erotica. Don't get me wrong: the 3 of them were hot together, but I preferred just Alex and Chase.

I loved that we got to see bits of Dagger and Ryan from Fall For Me. I missed Dagger. I think Ms. Lister has something up her sleeve with Coop and Jayson. Oh, and Wheland really needs someone too. I absolutely loved how supportive and protective he was of all 3 of them.

This can be read as a stand alone, but if you're going to read both, I'd start with Fall For Me.

I really loved this book. I still give it five stars because I keep being drawn to read certain parts over and over again. Great hot sex and a real romance between the characters. It does have a HEA. But . I love that this was a long book. I love that the author really delved into the relationship deep. I hope maybe one day she will revisit and tell us how the three of them are doing in the future. I love tripods but not many books deal with the what happens after, I would really like to see an author go deep in that aspect. Ann Lister could really do that with this triad!

Ok. So I will start by saying I don't typically read any romance with a female...I much prefer m/m pairings. That said, I don't think that was the reason that kept me from loving this book. Don't get me wrong...I liked it enough, just didn't love it.

I LOVED Alex and Chase together. The author focused a lot on their relationship and the strength of their connection. It was great. I felt the connection between Alex and Danni, however, fell too flat. Alex automatically fell in love with her and she eventually fell in love with him, but there wasn't enough written to make me *feel* it. It also felt like they did it for Chase, not for themselves. The other that annoyed me is a small thing but the formula in this book felt identical to the first (meet, 1 person denies attraction, fall in love, fight, spend 1 1/2 - 2 months apart, finally get back together). I hope the 3rd book breaks the chain.

"Can you be in love with two people at the same time?"~Danni

I Love Rock N' Roll, and I loved Zander and Chase, but Danni not so much. Makes me glad I have moved to the dark lside of reading. But Ann's story of Zander and Chase makes my feelings about Danni an after thought, LOL. These 2 guys really drew me into their world, I was standing on that street corner outside the estate with my telephoto lens just waiting to get the money shot. Zander loves men and women equal and wants to live in a tripod relationship with Chase and Danni, but first they have to convince Danni this will work. Enter Danni, she grated my nerves to no end, but she plays a pivotal rule in this relationship. She ends up being the glue that binds these 2 men together. And to answer Danni's question: Yes it is possible to love two people equally, if those two people are Zander and Chase.
