Cindy Eller just wants to get her life back. Instead of focusing her energy on her bakery and her relationship, she keeps getting distracted by the hubbub surrounding the upcoming case-- where she and her family will be put on trial for contact with Faerie.
When Cindy is condemned to have her Magic stripped-- a process that could kill her-- who should arrive to save the day but her elusive and very godlike father, Lenus.
When worlds collide, innocent people get caught in the crossfires. And sometimes love is its own worst enemy.
I was lucky and was chosen as a beta reader for this book. This book is great,I love this series and I think they get better and better. I love Cindy and her family and all of the characters in this series. They want to strip Cindy's powers which could kill her, however, her father comes and saves her at the last minute and takes her to live with him. Cindy has to learn to live in this new world that is completely different than what she is used to. While there she has a few surprises that she has to deal with. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. If you have not read this series yet then you are missing out on some great books.
This series MUST be read in order!! How (Not) to Play with Magic (A Cindy Eller Short Story Prequel) (Cindy Eller Snack) How (Not) to Kiss a Toad (Cindy Eller #1) How (Not) to Kiss a Prince (Cindy Eller #2) How (Not) to Kiss a Beast (Cindy Eller #3) How (Not) to Kiss a Ghost (Cindy Eller #4)
This book was AWESOME :) It showed a side of Cindy I had never seen before and I really enjoyed that. There were loads of questions answered and a few new ones brought up. This book was really fraught with hard choices and was more serious than any of the others (a few times I even teared up a bit-and I'm not a crier) but it was still a really fun read :) Just like in real life, a series can not always be cupcakes and rainbows, sad things or hard things have to happen too or the series will have no depth and the characters no life outside the page.
Everything considered this was the best yet book in the series and (of course) left me wanting more :) I would recommend this series to anyone who liked modern fantasy or paranormal books. Even most romance lovers would enjoy it... mystery and suspense and yummy baked treats round out this series :) Read ... Enjoy & Share!!!!
I love the Cindy Eller series and I have been anticipating this book since I finished the last one months ago. I guess I was hoping for more out of this book. There really wasn't a lot of action like previous books and that was a shame. We did meet lots of new characters in this book but again because if the changing story line this book was more drawn out with explanation than action.
That being said, the book was still good but the ending ticked me off! Just as the book was getting good it ended!! Oh....Yea. here I am at 84% read on my Kindle and it just ends! Huge cliffhanger with the remaining 16% left for previews for other books by this author. I felt cheated at the end :(
Anyone else ever get mad at a character for their lack of communication? ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS TALK TO EACHOTHER!!!!!!! But for storyline purposes, I know it fits but, AAAAAHHHHHH! The next book in this series may be book six, but it is also book 4 of another series, so I plan to read the first 3 in that series before continuing on with this one.
I enjoy this magical kingdom's interaction with Ordinaries. Timothy and Cindy are in the magical realm and interesting problems have arisen. Ready for #6 which is crossed with Goldie and the Were Bears.
My thoughts as I finished this book was "that sucked". You know when you are first introduced to a character and you just think they are bad news. Let you read and decide for yourself who that us.
I've been enjoying the Cindy Eller stories immensely so far...but I must express my disappointment with this book. Throughout the series Cindy and Timothy's story has had its ups and a few downs, but after the last book (How Not to Kiss A Ghost) their love became stronger especially after the "ghost" of Timothy's mother sacrificed herself to save everyone. She knew Cindy would be all he needed to get through her death again. Cindy's father apologized and recognized their love and even Cindy's mother stated Timothy was part of the family.
You can understand my disappointment when all of the sudden in this book, their love is tossed aside like it doesn't matter..even though he gave up everything for her and she would have done the same.
I don't even mind that something happened to change their relationship or that our heroine already has a new love interest...whom I do enjoy. It's the quickness and general disregard for everything they've been through.

In Short: Cindy saved her mother and sisters from a terrible end in the Middle Lands with help from her powerful father. Problem? He is from Faerie. Found guilty of illegal contact with the Fae Cindy faces having her powers stripped. Then daddy steps in. He whisks her and her beau, Timothy, to the magical and isolated Faerie. Outside contact is forbidden. She is soon busy learning about her powers and navigating the politics. Timothy reveals his hidden dark gift and things really shake up.
I thought this had the biggest twist of all the reads in this series. What I thought was going to happen, was totally not what happened! I was glad to see the characters venture through Faerie and end really made me want to read more. While there is no contact with Cindy's eccentric family and fun friends, she is still good for a few laughs.
And that was the most emotional book so far, in my humble opinion. I didn't see that one coming. I mean, by the middle of the book, I could suspect something, but didn't want to believe it, I was an emotional wreck by the end of it. Cindy is sentenced to be without magic and that means that the process will probably kill her and to protect her, Lenus takes her and Timothy to Faerie, only there's more there than meets the eye and appearances can be deceiving. Sumac was right when she told her that she should trust no one. I don't know what to expect from the next book.
Spoiler Well that was disappointing. They go to Faerie, she leaves her boyfriend to go play in the kitchen and take extra lessons and just ignores him. He's not that great either but after going through so much together that sure is a crappy way to end the book. Just knowing the characters, I would have found it more believable if Essence had charmed him the whole time. He even knew she didn't care for him outside the castle so why did he keep trying? Was this just an easy way to axe Timothy to get someone else?
Another AMAZING Cindy Eller tale... Now I've started Baehrly Breathing Goldie Locke and The Were Bears #1... And am very... EXCITED to see what happens in this one... I wanted to Read Book 6 In the Cindy Eller installments, BUT ITS ALSO #4 of the Goldie Locke and the Were Bears books.. Soooo I SADLY STOPPED W/Cindy and Picked up with her Sister.. LOL THATS THE ONLY SPOILER YOULL GET FROM ME LOL
REALLY? I have loved this series up to this point. I actually liked most of this book although I think Cindy would make more of the situation she is in and not complain about it so much. I think she is more of a leader. I did like the possibilities for some changes but did not like the way they were handled. And the end was not any kind of ending. It felt like something was missing with this one.
Cindy is now in Faerie as the Seraphine (kind of like a princess) and this is where she meets Roland. Roland is a gargoyle that is in love with her. Cindy, however, is still in love with Timothy despite his betrayal.
I am anxious to know if she is able to forgive Timothy. They have been through so much since they met. This series just gets better and better.
Treason is harsh and Cindy is convicted of it. No chance for a trial and as her powers are being stripped from her, Dad comes to the rescue. Off to faire we go and the challenges begin. Will Cindy adapt, will Timothy survive the land? Mystery abounds and hurts occur. Cindy makes a new friend in Roland but looses Timothy is many ways.
A brilliant story with an unexpected ending. Times are tough for Cindy but she finds her own way to cope and shows the strength her character has. These stories are entertaining and enjoyable, providing the perfect escapism to chill out with. X enjoy
Having read the first four books in this series I ordered #5 and got not to kiss a ghoandst again. There is no gargoyle! Started# 6and there's story missing. I suspect a computer glitch but don't know who to tell about it.
I really enjoyed this series...I really hope there is a 6th book because the ending has left some loose ends for me to be completely satisfied...hahaha
I am hooked on this (and Goldie Locke's) series. This book is the least predictable of all of them so far. I can't believe that it ended the way it did. GAH! Must read the next, ASAP!
This was not nearly as good as the rest of the series has been. I was disappointed and it took me days to read this one. I usually read her books in a day.
