Oxford Bookworms Library: Stage 3

Is there anyone who has not looked at the dark sky, and the shining points of light above us, and asked themselves questions about what is out there? Where did our planet come from? When did the universe begin? Could we live on another planet? And one question above all - is there life anywhere else in space?

Tim Vicary is an author and a recently retired university teacher from the university of York, England. His legal thrillers about a tough British barrister, Sarah Newby, have been compared to the works of John Grisham and Scott Turow. The second book in the series, A Fatal Verdict, was awarded a B.R.A.G Medallion for an outstanding independent novel, and the third book, Bold Counsel, was awarded the Awesome Indies Seal of Excellence. He is currently writing a fourth book in the series, entitled Broken Alibi.

His four historical novels have also won praise. Nobody's Slave, a novel about the Elizabethan slave trade, won first prize in the young adult category of the Kindle Book awards 2014. His three other historical novels, Cat & Mouse, The Blood Upon the Rose, and The Monmouth Summer, are all available individually or as a boxed set of three, entitled Women of Courage.

Tim has also written about twenty much shorter books, graded readers for foreign learners of English, published by Oxford University Press. In 2010 and 2011 two of these - Titanic and The Everest Story - were each the winners in their category for the Language Learner Literature Award for the Extensive Reading Foundation.

Tim lives in the English countryside, near York. When he's not writing he likes horse-riding, cycling, and swimming.

A few days ago, I decided to read this book as a preparation for my upcoming competitive exam in English, because the exam was mainly based on vocabulary and word formation, so I thought to myself, why not read something science-based that seemed to be short and sweet. And I don't regret it. I read the book in about an hour maybe, because I parallelly solved the different tasks at the end of the book after I had finished each chapter. It really made me understand the content much more, and helped me instil it into my long-term memory. I'm quite please with the book and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is even a little bit interested in the sciences or Astronomy in particular, as it is a great book for a start in those topics.

Space is a short book but surprisingly I found it very interesting and kind of a good read. It contains something I have never known before about the universe and especially the planets in our Solar system.

Every time I read about astronomy, I normally feel so small and relaxing. Life is so infinitesimal in comparison to the universe. It is a great thing that humans are still curious about how other things outside the earth look like, and try to look out for other places that might be suitable for people to live in. The exploration is so great that even though we are so small, we might discover the big things that might be useful to humanity.

It was easy to read, and it included amazing photographs of important discoveries and events. I read it for my 5-years old child and she loved the pictures. (She has a good background of Astronomy for her age thanks to StoryBots TV show)

This book is a lot of fun for me . Because I am interested in space. There are many mysteries in the univers .
Scientist always examine about universe . For example , Where did the Moon come from? How did it get there?
Scientist think a small planet crashed into the Earth with an enormous bang long long ago.
The crash sent rocks and dust into space and these slowly came together to form the moon.\
To tell the truth ,nobody know how to made the moon and how to made the universe
But I am looking for solving the universe some day!!
