Thomas Elkin and Cooper Jones finally have the support of their families, and their love grows stronger every day.
Reading the blurb I was worried a little, but there is no threat that would make them apart.

Yes, they have problems but there is nothing they can’t solve. The problems are external, and not within them. Their love is unwavering, and their trust and certainty in each other is unquestionable.

I love to see couples after their happy ending. Of course, I love novels ending with HEA (actually, I hate books with no HEA) but it is much better. It is so great to get more of a wonderful couple, to witness them settling into their relationship.

Tom is the perfect partner for Cooper: he is supportive and comprehending. Everything he does for Cooper and for their relationship comes natural to him. Maybe not always for the first time, but eventually he knows how to make special moments beautiful and memorable.

Both Tom and Cooper are awesome, and together they are gorgeous!

The title is perfect, just as the titles of the two previous books are, oh, and the architectural references to their relationship – so fitting.

This series was an absolute delight to read. Highly recommended!

Still love them so much.

Reread July 2019

I absolutely adore these two. I could read ten more books about them. I find their story very romantic and swoony.

Reread May 2018

Cooper and Tom are one of my favorite couples. I love the age gap and I love how they work together and are a tight couple even when they have doubts. I’m sure I’ll reread this series often.

Originally read February 2018

Tom and Cooper are finding their place. Friends and family are coming around. Life is moving forward for both of them separately as well as together. It's the perfect ending to their beautiful, truly romantic and swoon-worthy story. This is why I read romance. This is what I want..a couple who never wavers no matter what life throws at them. Just beautiful.

“You know what a sense of place is?” Cooper nodded. “It’s when the place you’re in feels like home. Where you’re at peace.”
“You’re my sense of place, Cooper.”

“Et cor domum,” “Heart and home.”

This was a wonderful ending to the series.

Thomas and Cooper are amazing characters and their relationship is equally amazing. I loved the humor and the sweet moments. I loved how supportive they were. And my favourite part of their story is that there was never a question of how they felt about each other.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as the previous two. I love this couple, but I’m always curious about a 20 year age gap once people start reaching their 60s.

Very disappointing that the men continue to wear condoms until the very end. There is a conversation with the doctor about it, (both tested clean) and then they had a conversation together about it. Glad they at least discussed it, but why are they nervous to go condom-free?

This is a committed relationship between two men who have been together for months. I can’t imagine a straight relationship having this conversation, unless someone is actively having sex with others.

What a beautiful, satisfying, glorious happy ending to a wonderful, swoony series.

I’m sad it’s over, I could read about these two forever and I’m sure I’ll reread this again and again 🥹🥹🥹

4.5 “It’s a Gen Y thing” stars

Thomas Elkin is a world renowned architect and he is finally happy since divorcing his wife after struggling with his own sexuality for years. His world is turned upside down when his new intern just happens to be Cooper Jones, a close friend of Tom’s son. Tom and Cooper bond over their love of architecture, but when real feelings start creeping in, Tom fears what could happen. After all, there is a 22 year age gap between them.

Tom’s confidence and control that grows with life experiences meshed with Cooper’s youthful exuberance and tenacity perfectly. Their love never wavered or faltered, and they were stronger together then apart. In other words, they just “fit”.

”We’re like a retrofit project, making the older classic style integrate with the modern. When everything says we probably shouldn’t gel, we just seem to work.~Cooper

We are are retrofit project You are the perfect retrofit for me~Tom Elements of Retrofit (book 1)

You could say that I popped my age gap cherry with this story. N. R. Walker has most likely, ruined all other age gap books for me, because this one was just about perfect.

4.5 Stars!

Part 3 of a 3 novella series featuring Thomas and Cooper.

Loved the conclusion of Cooper and Tom's story!

Loved the development of their relationship over the three books!

Just perfect!

Thomas and Cooper finally have the support of their families and Cooper is thriving at his new job, despite the long hours it requires.

But now Thomas and Cooper are both faced with challenges at their jobs.

Cooper gets his first new account, only to find that the man in charge wants more than Cooper's architectural skills.

And a partner at the firm tries causing trouble for Thomas.

What can I say, I just loved Thomas and Cooper throughout the whole series. They were perfect together.

I highly recommend this series and I will definitely be checking out other stuff by N.R. Walker.

"You know what a sense of place is?"

"It's when the place you're in feels like home. Where you're at peace."

"You're my sense of place, Cooper."

This has been a FANTASTIC series!! Tom and Cooper have easily added themselves to my favorite couples list.

In this final installment, Tom and Cooper find themselves at a crossroads professionally. Cooper is dealing with an arrogant and spoiled sleazeball who wants to get in his pants, while Tom finds out that his once friend and mentor is sniffing around trying to find dirt to get Tom fired from the firm.

And in typical Tom and Cooper fashion...they face all their troubles head on....together as a team and united front. I think that's my favorite thing about this series....there is never any doubt about how these men feel about each other and they always have each other's back.

The ending and epilogue were the perfect conclusion to a fantastic series and unforgettable couple. They really found their footing in this book and it brought home that nothing would ever matter more to either man than what they have together. Watching these two evolve and grow has my heart ready to burst with love.

"How did I ever get so lucky?"

"I often ask myself the same question."

Tom and Cooper have burrowed a hole in my heart and have taken up residence. I'll definitely be re-reading these books in the future.

I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves well developed and endearing characters, who handle obstacles and drama like adults and know the meaning of trust and love. My cup truly runneth over with this series.

I flew through this series, it was a really good and balanced series that read like one book. This was a good conclusion, angst free and very sweet. Cooper really was 22 year old at times and I still wish we had gotten to know him more. Tom was maybe a bit too perfect. I like how he was the one to be there for Cooper in this one. I really liked the epilogue. I would really recommend this series, it's a good starting point for this author's style because it is a really typical NR. Walker story.

I’ve said it before in my review of book 2: Clarity of Lines, I love Thomas Elkin. He MAKES this series for me. And because I have such a deep fondness for him, it feels like a treat to read more story about him…and when that story has him HAPPY and ASSURED of himself? It’s delightful.

Sense of Place takes us to what feels like the Promised Land by the end of this series. Through their uncertainties of age difference, family interferences, and now work/professional roadblocks, Thomas and Cooper are…SOLID. They’re GOOD. They’re TIGHT. And they make SENSE. Gone are any niggles, even in my mind, if they’re right for each other. Gone are those “waiting for the other shoe to drop” moments to see what will cause their relationship strife. I read this book, from start to finish, with a huge smile on my face.

Thomas, this confident, successful, kind, HUGE-HEARTED man is the rock for Cooper as he tries to win back his family as well as establish his career. *sigh*…we should ALL have a Thomas in our lives – unwavering in his love and devotion., understanding and patient. And even Cooper…still young, still kinda frat-boyishly annoying, BUT…I see Thomas rubbing off on him. And he’s growing up a bit and thus growing on me. (My favorite Cooper moment of the entire series is when he tells Tom the kind of house he should live in. It showed great maturity and a deep love for the man. And when you love Tom that deeply, then I gotta love you too, Cooper! :) )

Honestly, the book is a bit cliche at times (Thomas’ work issues were kinda out-of-nowhere and over-the-top), and it was odd that Ryan (Thomas’ son) was nowhere to be seen in this book. And I admit, through the course of the series, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the editor (my irritation in this book: I don’t care if the correct plural of Lego is “Lego”…you would NOT find anyone in NY saying anything other than LEGOS as the plural. Sorry)

But, see…that’s the mastery of winning readers over with character development…so many other things can be overlooked!

I will miss Thomas. I’m sad to see the series end though I loved the journey. Maybe we can convince NR Walker to write a Christmas short or something about Thomas & Cooper… *wink* *nudge* *bribery*…

Once again Mr Russo does a grand job of bringing one of my favourite couples, Tom and Cooper, to life.

***Book Review 2014***

Nic Walker, I swear you've brought me to my knees again!! I just ADORE this series. A gazillion of stars, but as it's Goodreads 5 stars and 5 enormous 💜💛💙💚🧡 will have to do unfortunately. Absolutely superb!!

Tom and Cooper are two halves of the same whole, I sincerely believe that...the age difference means absolutely nothing, it's a Gen Y, Cooper Jones and LOVE thing!! Tom has an enemy in this one, someone that would not normally be expected to cause a ruckus, and Coop has a complete perv after him because Tom of course is waay too old for Cooper and the perv is young, handsome and filthy rich with Daddy's money. ..but apparently lacking a brain, hehe. Do matters get resolved to my satisfaction...hell to the yes!! Jennifer rides to Tom's rescue, Tom discourages the perv and goes all caveman to protect his lover AND something happens at the end which put an even bigger grin on my face!! What is it?? Well, I'm sure you can all have a real good guess...and you're probably correct, I can only confirm that chez moi there was **Happy Dancing**, woot!! Nic, I can't thank you enough for all of these amazing stories. ♥♥♥

*** Three amazing books, two magnificent men, one epic romance !!! ***
Sydney, where they began, had some first times together....

Book three of the trilogy has some challenges; just when we thought things were smooth. Right out of the gate, Tom is being harassed by a senior partner.

The guys are now living together, happy and prosperous. These men are "in love", devoted, loyal, and have each other's back, no matter what. It's a bone deep, once in a lifetime love. "sigh..."

Cooper gets a new account and the smarmy creep he has to work with, makes him want it over sooner than later. Through thick and thin, good and bad, these two amazing men are fitting together like they were made for each other. No doubt. Deeply thought filled characters, awesome sense of snarky humor, a wonderful flowing tale of true love, understanding, tolerance, and patience.

Their lives are threaded , melded, and cemented. N.R. Walker's writing is impeccable, with tender moments, flawed people who continue to work on their progress, amazing hot sexiness, and delicious comprehensive storytelling.

I highly recommend this fabulous three part story, because it's so wonderful to read.
It will be a favorite of mine forever.
ENJOY !!

I love Cooper and Tom so much 😍😍

I actually really liked how this series was romance and relationship heavy and everything else was kind of background noise.

Love the relationship between Tom and Cooper, but I also loved the relationship Tom was building with Max and with Cooper's parents. Cooper and Lionel also made me smile a ridiculous amount, and Jennifer was such a boss.

I also now have the biggest urge to go play The Sims and build some houses!!

Note: Since the books are really short, I’m reviewing the entire trilogy at once. There aren't any spoilers for books one and two.

“You know what a sense of place is?”
Cooper nodded. “It’s when the place you’re in feels like home. Where you’re at peace. () Is this place?”
“No. You’re my sense of place, Cooper.”

Thomas Elkin series is the first age-gap romance with best friend’s dad trope I’m able to finish -and I LOVED it.

Cooper is twenty years younger than Tom, yet I'd be the first defensor of their relationship. They have won my heart by showing me how perfect they are for each other, despite the age difference.

“It wasn’t his age that I was interested in. It was the fact we’d spend hours talking about anything and everything, like I’d met my intellectual match.”

Maybe it’s due to the lack of daddy kink, or the fact that Cooper is always teasing Tom about his age, but I want to think it’s because N. R. Walker was able to make crystal clear that their minds align like they belonged together.

“No jokes about the elderly?” I asked as we got to the elevator. “Yesterday you were full of cheek about my age.”
“Can you remember yesterday?” he asked, wide-eyed. “Your medication must really work.”

I could spend all day reading about these two. I’ve read a lot of books by N.R.Walker and they are in my top 3 of favourite couples. Cooper is sassy, blunt and funny, while Tom is more quiet, a true gentleman, but with the same sense of humour. I could see how happy they are making each other, how Cooper brought Tom back to life, how Cooper felt at home when he was with Tom.

“I’m in love with you, Cooper. You drive me crazy some days, and you challenge everything I say, but you’ve breathed life into me. I never expected someone could understand me like you do.”

I truly recommend this series if you want a great romance with sexy scenes, a lot of teasing and wonderful main and side characters. Since I don’t like age-gap and loved these two, I think it’s worth a try even it if you are not really into it -if you enjoy it, what are you waiting for??

“He makes you happy. I’ve never seen you so happy. It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks or says. It’s about you.”

It's impossible not to love this couple! Impossible! I love Tom... He is so mature, so beautiful, so man... so wonderful! I love Cooper! I always have so much fun with him... the way he says what he wants without saying that he want that (and he always gets what he wants)!

They make the most amazing, sweet and perfect relationship, and I don't want to let them go...

Re-read Audio version 6/28/22) : Nick J Russo's narration was great. 😍

First read in Jan 2019:
4.5 stars!! Loved the series, the couple, the story....💕💕 everything!! 😍
Tom and Cooper's story can be called a May-December romance, but it doesn't feel like that at all. They complete each other in so many ways that it is hard to imagine a world where they were not together. 💘
Tom, an established and reputed architect meets Cooper, a new comer in the architecture world through his son. Cooper then joins as an Intern in Tom's company and despite the attraction he feels towards Cooper he tries to maintain a professional demeanor and distance. Eventually the mutual attraction becomes too much to resist and Cooper breaks down Tom's professional and personal walls and soon they are engaged in a secret relationship. However, as they spend more time together things start getting serious between the two and they are faced with the challenge of letting their family know which doesn't go smoothly at all. Add to that the angst of some tragedies hitting home for Tom, the path to HEA is not easy. Professionally too, Tom is faced with a homophobic senior executive and Cooper with an aggressive and creepy client. But with love, humor and trust they surpass all the challenges to earn their HEA... but the journey is not without a few bumps.
What I loved about their relationship was that despite the 22 year age difference, Cooper and Tom were equal partners.. in bed and out of it. Cooper was such a confident and self-assured young man that it was refreshing to see him be so assertive in his relationship with Tom. It is not always that you see such maturity from the younger MC in a romance with a huge age-gap. Tom, despite his age and experience was a little less sure of how things would pan out and he was insecure due to his age. But they always had each other's backs and understood each other so well towards the end. Needless to say that the passion and sizzle between the couple was off the charts hot....💕🔥 but honestly, it was the sweet, fun and loving romance that made this one of my favorite series. ❤️Highly Recommended 👍

Tom and Cooper are one of my favourite couples ever, and I had so much fun rereading this. I think my favourite part is that there is no made up drama. With Xavier the sleaze, it could have gone wrong, but our guys stayed true to themselves and each other. Trust, love and amazing hot sex. What more can you ask for? I’m smiling so hard thinking about how happy they will be for the rest of their lives.

This was the perfect end to the series. I loved Thomas and Cooper and am sad to be done with them. I had a big smile on my face the whole time I was reading this. They are cute, funny and sexy. And no matter what was thrown at them, they faced it together, their love strong and beautiful. I was a bit less invested in the plot in this one, but still a solid 4 stars from me.

Last part of this series – that’s a pity. After building their relationship, getting accepted by their families, Thomas, 44, and Cooper, 22, now have to face professional troubles. And they do it with flying colors.
Thanks to N.R.Walker for this great read and for coming up with such a hot and sweet (in a very good way) couple

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“Et cor domum,” I murmured. “It’s what you are to me.” His eyes darted to mine. “What does that mean?” “It’s Latin,” I murmured. “It means ‘heart and home.’”

Listening to all three Thomas Elkin books took no time at all and can pretty much be read as one bigger book. They were a lot of fun and filled with plenty of love, external challenges, humor and heat.

I enjoyed that the challenges in this book were more related to their respective workplaces, but I was not impressed by how it was dealt with. I don’t like it when there’s no consequences for the bad guys, and I totally side with Cooper in their argument about it. I also missed a follow-up on Thomas’ mom after what happened in the second book. Did she accept his sexuality and him dating Cooper eventually? Anyway. Overall, the series was fun and both Cooper and Thomas were perfectly flawed and lovable.

This series works, because of Cooper. Thomas is great, as a middle-aged man who finally had the courage to be himself, but the heart of the story is that he has found, to his startled delight, that young architect Cooper Jones is his true match. And the reader believes that, I think, because Cooper has so much strength and self-confidence and pure joy that he defuses any concerns about his age. If anything he's stronger than Tom, and his certainty about how much they belong together gives Tom the freedom and courage to just love him without doubts.

This book is more about external pressures on their relationship than internal ones. It shows the guys coping with some of the issues that arise in their lives, with family and with professional demands, and finding ways to make it work. It's sweet, warm and pretty realistic, and left me with a smile.

A beautiful and touching ending shared between Thomas and Cooper...just perfect. The couple endured hardship and criticism from those around them...yet they stayed strong and committed all the way. I couldn't have asked for a more sweeter and lovely read.

"Cooper looked around. "This place?"
I shook my head. "No."
His voice kind of squeaked. "Me?"
I nodded and grinned. "You're my sense of place, Cooper."
