When Kates parents die in a car accident it falls to her older sister to look after her. Her sister takes a nursing job in a small town and Kate isn't happy to move to the middle of nowhere. Not long after moving to their new house Kate starts having very vivid dreams but they aren't hers. She keeps having dreams of people she never met and in the dreams she is like a ghost watching things play out. Every night she seems to dream these strange dream and eventually her sister guesses. It turns out that Kates sister and mother could do the same.

While dream walking Kate sees two figures that seem to be in every dream. One creeps her out and is always part of a nightmare and the other is intriguing. She slowly makes friends with the intriguing one. One morning Kate wakes up to the news that there was a murder, a cheerleader was killed in her bedroom. Two more murders happen and more details come to light. Kate and the boy she meets in her dreams are the only ones who can help. But how can they? Who are the two strangers?

I really enjoyed Walker! It hooked me from the first page! I liked Kates character even though at times she did annoy me. I can understand her feelings but at the start she was like a spoilt brat towards her sister. I'm so glad that only lasted a little bit though!! I really liked Kates sister. She is only in her early twenties and is trust into be Kates guardian. She takes to it awesomely and is kind but firm with Kate.

The love story was really sweet and unique, even though I could see who the love interest was from the start! It wasn't a major point in the book which I liked and it was slow burning and a nice change.

Now I did have a few minor problems with Walker. I figured out who the bad guy was as soon as Kate saw him outside of the Dream realm and once she met him things kind of escalated really quickly from there. Personally I would of liked it a bit more drawn out and suspenseful. It all felt rushed a little.

Also at times I felt the writing could of been tidied up, for example here's a passage I highlighted
"Part of me didn't want to figure out who he was, but it wasn't nearly as strong as my desire to find out who he was. But what would I do when I did find out who he was?"
To me that's too many who he was!!!
But like I said its only minor and personal complaints and nothing that takes away from the overall book.

Overall I really enjoyed Walker. It was a nice addition to the YA genre and a book Id have no problem recommending. Its suspenseful, unique and with a creepy atmosphere. I read it at night and let me tell you that it did freak me out at times!! The bad guy is really mean and evil and the idea he was in dreams was so scary!! Cant wait to read more so I'm hoping this isn't a stand alone.

*****Received an ARC from the author for an honest review***********
I really enjoyed this book. I tried not to read it too much at bed time, just because the creepy dude in the dreams was freaking me out! This was definitely a unique storyline. The writing was great! Really enjoyed the paranormal twist in it.

MY REVIEW (which can also be seen as a fan-girling rant) CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS....

Meet Kate, average HS student, but a bit of brat (I blamed it on her grieving process... I mean, the girl just lost her parents). The thing about Kate is that she has an extraordinary "gift", she's a dream walker, she has the ability to "walk" through other peoples' dreams... At first Kate brushes it off as her own nightmares, but when she starts seeing the people from her "dreams", at school, things take a turn down creepy lane. Things get even worse, when girls from Kate's HS start dying in their sleep. The question on everyone's mind... WTF is going on?

Ok..., let's talk about what I LOVED! --

Kate, she's flawed and far from perfect. She considers Elise her best friend but at the same time keeps her distance. She’s very determined, smart and witty… but you know what I liked best about her? That she is NOT weak.

Jesse, Kate's sister, is just awesome. Her and Fergie, LOVED them both! I connected most with Jesse, I loved her character and saw how hard she was trying to keep her family together after their parents tragic car accident.

Kate slowly grew on me as a character; the more I got to know her, the more I started to care about her... Next thing I know, I found myself yelling at my nook, "NO KATE! DON'T FALL ASLEEP!".... I really was worried about her every time she went to sleep.

Which brings me to my next point, the dream walking... SCARY as HELL! Every time Kate went into a dream, I wrapped the blanket around me a lot tighter! That paranormal twist really did give it the perfect, "edge of your seat" creep factor. I couldn't wait til the dream was over and Kate got out safely.

At times, while Kate was at school mostly, I felt like I was reading about typical YA cliche aspects; typical mean girl (evil blond girl, who does the impossible to patronize Kate), cocky male lead (sort of; Colton, gorgeous and he knows it). But what I like best about them all was the dialogue. Real and genuine! I freaking loved Elise, Kate's best friend! She was hilarious! The perfect voice of a high school teenager! And trust me, I should know! I deal with them everyday ;) She was funny, loyal, true... What more can you ask for. JCru was as evil as mean girls come... Think of her as a Regina George from MEAN GIRLS. Every scene with her was just so, ugh.

The killer!? Never saw it coming. I mean, don't get me wrong, there was an instant where I thought I had figured it out, but I was wrong. When things started to get more personal (aka. Elise. Don't want to give too much away), I was actually scared. I literally stopped reading the book several times to look outside my hallway or under the bed. It's been a while since a book actually got under my skin...

Now, let's talk boys.... Nick. Oh.Em.Gee. NICK! Where do I even begin?

Let me just take a minute to swoon! I just absolutely LOVED him! I tend to have high expectations for my leading men, and Nick fit every single one (and more!). Kate’s attraction to Nick is so relatable that it kind of hurts your heart to read about it. The only bad part is that he doesn’t show up until 50-something pages in. Info on him is very scarce in the beginning, but that's ok, because it just adds to his sexy mysteriousness (<-- is that even a word?). The romance between him and Kate is expertly crafted and left me both satisfied and urging for more…. Like, for real. I NEED more Kate and Nick !

Overall, I'd like to let you all know that my mind has been on WALKER mode for the past couple of days. AND I LOVE IT! <3 Great story, great characters, overall flippin' GREAT book!... Yes! It was THAT good! Only bad part; IT ENDED! (BTW, great flippin' ending too! *bravo, Michlle, Bravo*)

Don't know if there is going to be a part two, I can totally see the story continue.... might just have to tweet Michelle to find out ;) Sooooo.... All in all, do us all a favor and enter the giveaway below, trust me when I say this is one book you don't want to miss!

Blog Tour sul mio blog l'8 gennaio
Recensione + Giveaway
http://pleaseanotherbook.tumblr.com/p...

Grazie mille.

Very much enjoyed this YA read! Kate doesn't learn until after they move to a new town how different she and her sister are. They are Dream Walkers. Then murders start happening to young girls, while they are sleeping. Kate also meets the boy of her dreams...who's in a coma.

Enjoyed the interaction with her new friends. Elisa pops off the page at us. And Nick and Colton are adorable catches. Enjoyed the growth of the story as the book went on.

A YA I'd recommend to young girls, for sure.

****FULL REVIEW****
Kate doesn't learn until after she and her sister move to the new town how different they are. They are Dream Walkers. New school, new home, and parents gone. Kate is miserable. Trying to adjust to the loss of her parents and being in a new place in the middle of nowhere is hard. She finds she enjoys sleep as she's blank and doesn't remember her pain for her lost parents. Learning her sisters circumstances, she offers to try this place and finds a few great friends. Along with making enemies. Colton has taken a liking to Kate but his girlfriend is the mean girl at high school. She's known for ruining lives. But Kate finds solstice in her dreams. What scared her at first becomes her escape each day - other peoples dreams. Then the murders start. Girls are dying while they sleep. Kate can't interact with people in their dreams, but she comes across two guys and one isn't the dream man the other is, and yet the dream guy is in a coma...

I enjoyed the fun friendship with Kate's new friends. Elisa is her closest friend, and a hoot. Elisa pops off the page at us. And Nick and Colton are adorable catches!

Kate's strongeness, in the beginning, with the not-nice girl and her boyfriend that seems to like Kate was great. Mature yet still a kid in high school. She's learning to deal with a lot and makes mistakes too. But, she admits her mistakes, this is good. Kids need to learn they are going to make mistakes and try better the next time around. Kate is a rule model for this. She learns when it comes to relationships.

Kate does visit other peoples dreams. Some are rather strange, but hey, we all have those out there dreams. I like that there was a blend of dreams, as people have. There were strange dreams, happy dreams, and even scary struggling dreams.

I really enjoyed the growth of the story as the book went on. The pacing worked nicely to introduce us to the characters at the right moments. And to add in the murder mystery with us getting more and more involved.

This was a quick read for me. I kept going, flipping pages for several reasons. I wanted to learn more of the dreams that Kate visited. The secrets and mysteries of everyone's that was shown through the dreams. Then what was going on with the deaths, they seemed to be related to sleeping. Then there were the boys in Kate's life. lol. Oh, the choices of a teen.

There is a murder mystery here. People dying in what looks like their sleep, but maybe not. And there are mysteriously two others that seem to see her in the dream world where the dreamers can not see her.

Nice combination in a clean book for the YA crowd. I enjoyed the freshness of the story.

I've read my fair share of supernatural YA novels. Some are original and make you forget that this in no way could ever happen (hey Cassandra Clare). While some just make you sit there and question whether or not the author dropped acid before they wrote it (no Abbi Glines, Dank IS the dumbest name in the history of books). Walker is definitely part of the former. Finding a book like this, especially after the Twilight boom, is both refreshing and exciting.

After a great deal of upheaval in her life, Kate discovers that she has the ability to walk through other people's dreams. But naturally since this is a book, and it would be super boring if that was all she did for 150 pages, she discovers that there is someone out there who can do the same but has far less good-hearted intentions than she does. Of course like any good book there's also a love interest, but the book isn't bogged down by it. The relationship isn't forced into the book for the sake of having one. I hate reviews with spoilers so that's all you're getting.

My only two complaints, and why I didn't give it 5 stars, were that at times the exposition dragged to me. But once the story truly kicked in about 20 pages in I couldn't put it down. And second, I saw who the dream lover was going to be from a mile away. But I'm like, really smart and shit.

With that said, neither of these points would stop me from suggesting this book. Both the characters and storyline were original and well developed and with as much as I read I can't stress how rare that is to find. Walker was a great debut from this author and I would suggest it to anyone who loves the outside of the norm novels.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

I love a good paranormal or supernatural story and I've have a thing about dreams ever since Izzy from Roswell High could dream walk and so I was instantly drawn into the premise of Walker.

Kate and her older sister Jesse have moved to a small town for a fresh start. Kate soon learns that she can dream walk - this isn't always as fun as it sounds! Aside from the dream walking, there's the potential love interest(s) and the school bullies to deal with. Kate's also coming to terms with personal tragedy and the heavy burden of trying to start again.

Another great element were the mysterious deaths plaguing the town and the hunt for the killer. This helped build jeopardy and create drama of more than just the teenage variety. The staying awake element reminded me of the 'don't blink' ones in Doctor Who.

I loved the 'dream guy' parts and it was interesting to see this relationship built. The good thing is it wasn't rushed as teen relationships often are. We all have our dream guys (although not in quite the same way as Kate) and I was hoping for a HEA for them all.

Every girl needs a trusty side kick or two and Kate had her bestie Elise and her super cute dog Fergie. I enjoyed Walker and found Kate a strong and fun MC!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

What would you do if your whole life just turned upside down ? For Kate, her parents have just passed in a car accident and now her and her sister Jesse whom is pregnant with her first child are living in a small-town out in the middle of the wop-wops. Kate starts her new school and attracts the attention of Colton - the cheerleader known as JCru's boyfriend and she isn't very happy about it and tries to make Kate's life miserable. The thing is she doesn't know Kate and Kate isn't one to be a push-over, the other great thing is Kate has on her side a group of friends who all at one time have been targets of JCru's meanniness. If only Kate had to put up with that , the thing is Kate has started to become a dream walker - something her mum and older sister could do. However, Kate's dreams are more like nightmares as someone is killing the girls in her town in their sleep - a bit like a modern day without the sexual abuse Freddy Krueger and the only one who can identify him is Kate. Can she stop the killer before she is his latest victim. The other thing is Kate has met a cute guy in her dream-walking , a guy called Nick Hall who happens to have been in a coma for the past three years and lives up the road from her. Can Kate in the "real world" be the inspiration and motivation , Nick needs to be able to wake up and face reality ?

Find out in this awesome and fast-paced read .

When I read the blurb, I expected his book to be really interesting as it had an original concept. I just feel that the author didn't grab the idea of dream-walking and run with it. For me it was very bland and I lost interest, I didn't care about what happened to any of the characters.
I don't know what it is, but every heroine with the name Kate, I have not liked :-/
Kate, for me, was a boring heroine. At the start I found her a very whiny and spoilt character, who took her sister for granted, but as the book progressed that side slipped away making her a bit more likeable. What really annoyed me in this book was the talk of death, I know the author was trying to sound philosophical and add depth to the writing, but for me it fell flat sadly. It actually kind of irritated me, the main character thought she was a pro at grieving and repeatedly tells people of how they should feel about death.
Her sister, Jesse, wasn't too bad and neither was the dog, but again it was very lacking.
The only character that had potential was Nick, but he wasn't in it enough, what were supposed to be sweet and intense moments turned out to be tedious.
The killer was very predictable and it the ending was just not exciting.
Overall, I will give it 2 stars because the writing was okay and the concept was interesting, but it really lacked any substance and did not play with my emotions like good books do.

**I received an ARC copy of this book for review**

I took a long break from paranormal YA because all the stories were getting similar. Walker has rekindled my love for it! With it's intriguing storyline and witty characters, I couldn't put it down!
Kate moves with her sister to a small town where she struggles to accept her new life and make appropriate friends. She meets Elise and they instantly click. Elise is hilarious and I'm jealous she's not my friend! Elise challenges Kate's introverted nature and encourages her to live a little.
Soon after moving to the new house Kate starts having odd dreams, dreams she doesn't seem to have control over. Dreams that aren't her own. She discovers she can dream walk into other people's dreams, but only if in close proximity. Two strangers show up in a dream one night, one good, and one evil. Kate's new town is plagued with a series of unexplainable an devastating events and only she can stop them. Can she? She also meets Nick while sleeping. Who is he? Is he a dream walker too? She falls for him, but their relationship is seemingly impossible.
Will Nick and Kate ever be able to be together? Can Kate save her new town and new friends? Ekk! I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
Great job with a fresh story and exciting characters.

I got this book on a bit of a whim but i'm glad I did I was pleasantly susurprised. Kate did get on my nerves just a little at the beginning I just kept thinking what a stroppy teenager but then again i've not lost my parents so that may be normal so I ploughed on through the story. I loved that this was something new to me out of all the books out there in this genre I had yet to stumble on a 'new' storyline. It kept me interested and I wanted to get to the end. So thats to pros now for the cons.... some of the relationships felt a little forced to me and I felt some of the scenes lacked the info and emotion I needed/wanted e.g (slight spolier warning) near the end there is a chapter where Kate gets a little beaten around and when 2 other characters - important to her - see her I wanted to know their reactions shock, sympathy, anger anything but nothing was mentioned and I was disappointed and it felt a little empty, I needed that to verify the feelings between the characters which was probably why I was left feeling like it was forced a little. Other than that I loved this book.

This book was very interesting.....

I just need a little bit of closure...like what happens between Nick and Kate once he wakes up and what are people's reactions to him waking up from coma?
What happens between Kate and Cole? Are they back friends?

Also...how this school used Facebook was really hilarious...I don't remember people using it the way they did. But maybe JCru really was just a bitch and she posted stupid stuff like who's dating who. It's just weird.

But it was a good book. Only a couple grammar errors. Great plot...writing was decent and Nick was a cutiepie.

Read till the end now must sleep

I started this and ended up reading it straight through till it was done. I knew I was in for a long night as soon as I read the sample chapter and wanted to read more. The pacing kept me flipping the pages following the story. I haven't read any sleepwalking romance before so that was definitely new to me.

I loved this story. It was a great escape into another world. My only complaint was how close all of the friends names where. They were similar enough or sounded close enough, that I often had to go back and re-read a line a time or two to realize who was talking.

Walker by Michelle Flick left me completely breathless. It had a touch of all my favorite elements: YA, paranormal, thriller and romance!

I was reading late into the night with my blanket wrapped tightly around me. The story was splendid! The author truly shone in her writing and in developing characters which I really connected to.

I loved the whole plot and kept turning the pages eagerly because I was so excited to know what was going to happen.

Nick. *swoon* You'll just have to read to find out more about him.

I 100% recommend you check out this amazing read! You will not be disappointed.

This was my first time reading about dream walkers. Kate is amazingly strong young female who has been through so much drama and hurt. She moves to a new town with her sister and her life quickly becomes twisted up in drama at school and in her dreams. I really liked the dynamic between Kate and her sister, Jesse. When young girls end up dying in their sleep, and Kate finds out who the murderer is, the fight is on to expose the killer and to stay alive.
I really enjoyed this story. There were several formatting and grammatical issues that took me out of the story a couple of times. In all honesty I enjoyed the story. I thought the dialogue was plausible, the complex relationship between all of the characters was believable.
I will definitely recommend this book to others. I give it 4/5 Platypires.

I really enjoyed this book! It's got a hint of romance and a lot of sister-bonding moments. The dog is probably my favorite character but I loved Kate's friends. I wish the dream walking ability (and the romance, tbh) had been flushed out more but overall I liked what this book had to offer. Particularly when it comes to Kate. It's been a while since I read a YA book about a girl who demonstrated that she was spunky instead of just being told that she was, but Kate proves her spunky-ness and it is refreshing. Could she have showed it a bit more? Of course, but I'll still give her credit. I look forward to reading another novel by Michelle Flick.

Don't recall this at all... A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...
