I had this book sitting on my Kindle shelf for what must have been years. I was between audiobooks and saw that it was being offered for a special price of $1.99 on Audible, so I figured I'd finally give it a shot. It had been so long since I'd read the blurb, that I wasn't even sure what I was in store for.

At just over 5 hrs long, it is a relatively short audiobook. That being said, the story held my attention and kept me entertained. With so little time to cover so much ground, there was never a dull moment. Sometimes I felt like I needed to stop to catch my breath, as there was very little "filler". Everything happened so fast that it was kind of a blur.

Allie Marshall is a studious college-aged girl. She's the stereotypical "smart girl". She's got straight A's. She's also beautiful, but conveniently oblivious to her appeal. We all know the type.

Allie meets Donovan Callahan when she literally runs into him on campus one day. After their sidewalk collision, they see each other again at a club. He's older, rich, incredibly handsome and more "worldly" than Allie.

The attraction between the two is immediate. I thought it worked well for this story. However, if insta-love is a turn-off for you, this one won't hold much appeal. They go from strangers to practically attached at the hip overnight.

It doesn't take long for the cracks to show up though. Both of them have things, or people, in their past that may be problematic. While Donovan's past mistakes were very public and impossible for him to hide from, Allie's past is far more secretive.

Eventually, everything is brought to light. I have to say that I was not surprised by one of Allie's secrets, but completely taken aback by another one. It isn't very often that an author will write something like that into the past of a character that they've cast as the "good girl". Hats off to the author for that! (Sorry to be so vague, but I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't read it yet.)

Overall, I thought 'Overwhelm Me' was a great read. The narration was well-done and engaging. I liked both of the main characters and found their love story to be sweet and entertaining. This is a good choice for a day when you're looking for something rather straightforward and cheerful. It is a perfect choice for those days when you're suffering from a book hangover and aren't quite ready to dive into anything too deep yet.

Never judge a book by its cover...and apparently not on its Goodreads reviews, either.

Really, people?? Whoever gave this book 4 or 5 stars must be pretty limited in their reading repertoire. Just being honest..wish other people could do the same.

Sadly, the pretty cover is about all this book has going for it. That, and the fact that I got it for free. I would be pretty upset if I had paid for this: This book is awkward, immature, poorly written & poorly edited. It lacks any real emotion, has no character development, and has NO PLOT.

The writing is 8th grade level at best, with generic phrases and too many typos and mistakes to even count. Every other sentence is either punctuated with an exclamation point, or is Allie crying and being insecure that this guy she just met yesterday is going to "let another girl hang on him".

A couple times I actually laughed out loud at how creeped out I was by these fictional characters and their cheesy weirdness.

The story takes place in a one week span. The characters have no development at all. There is no flow to the story. The whole premise is just underdeveloped and creepy and every other paragraph is a "mind blowing sex scene!" with this guy's "growing erection" and "hairless chest". Yeah. Skeevy.

Then there's a line about Allie needing to change her panties every time she thinks about Donovan. Gross.

Let's not forget the weird sex scene in an American Eagle dressing room. LOL

Donovan talks a lot about his money and how rich he is, and he does it in a creeper way, which is a pet peeve of mine, and it always skeeves me out in real life when this happens too. Douche-baggish.

This story just tries really, really hard to be something it's not, (cough, cough, 50 Shades) but it just reads like a thirteen year old girl wrote it after getting some ideas from her mother's old Harlequins, and then self- published it without anyone even resembling an editor looking over it.

I mean, kudos to the author for actually writing a story and going through the whole process. I'm just saying, this story needed a LOT more work before it even thought about being published.

Not to mention that nothing *happens* in this book.

From the way it ended, I'm guessing there will be a sequel...yeah, also guessing I prrrrobably won't be reading that one.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Overwhelm Me and I just finished this book. I started reading this first thing this morning and read the first 75% in one sitting. Unfortunately, I did have to get up and put it down, which was a complete and utter hardship.

Allie is a character that has had some horrible things happen to her. She doesn't let it hold her down, deter her or keep her from following her dreams of helping others. She is genuinely a very good person and a very relatable character .

Donovan is a hot, successful Doctor who she literally runs into. Sparks fly from first glance.

From a chance encounter they meet again and the chemistry between these two is HAWT from moment 1.

Through a couple situations and a few obstacles they manage to see that they need each other and are actually pretty perfect for each other. The sex scenes will make you melt like butta! They were perfect. Not over done or under done. Completely satisfying!

I loved this book and seriously cannot wait for the next one.

Did I mention there may have been a little cliffhanger that may put a slight clinch into Allie and Donovan's happily ever after future? Oh yeah, I may have left that part out! ;) Stay tuned for book 2....

"The only problem is when I think about him, I feel like I need to change my panties"

REALLY?!? I think that is the least sexiest line I've read...EVER. This book is absolutely ridiculous she bumps into this random guy 2 pages in so obviously she falls madly in lust. Then maybe 10 pages in her and her girlfriends go to a bar and she wishes he was there but she knows its too far fetched to happen. So of course it does.

Then it gets even better she tells this guy she JUST MET about her fathers death so she begins crying uncontrollably and says "Pleas don't leave me here alone with my thoughts. I just...just need you here with me"

Ok that's it. I'm done. I FREAKIN quit!

I've read a grand total of 27 pages and I'm quitting! Worst book ever and definitely not worth my $2.99

Overwhelm Me is the debut novel by AC Marchman. It is the first book of the Callahan series. This book only took a couple of pages and the hook was in. From that point, I could not put it down.

The author did a great job creating the characters of Allie Marshall and Donovan Callahan. Donovan is a gorgeous, sexy, rich, and charming and he has the full ability to overwhelm Allie. Allie is a relatable character. She is smart, educated, honest and strong. I liked her because she was ‘real’. Many times the female leads in a novel have something that annoys me. Not so with this book. AC Marchman took her time letting us get to know the characters and left me intrigued to learn more. This story felt like meeting a new friend and the process you go through to get to know them. You don’t know everything about them immediately, but you find that “something” that connects you to them and forges a relationship. This is how the writing worked for me in this book. I felt like I am in this new relationship and am just getting to know Allie and Donovan. They are interesting and unique.

Things develop quickly between Allie and Donovan and it may all be overwhelming for them. They both have some things in their life they would rather remain hidden. Will they be able to get through this together or will it be too much to deal with? I liked the bit of mystery in the story that the author introduces, it makes it all the more interesting and intriguing. When certain pieces of the storyline came up, I thought “uh oh”….but can’t wait to see where the author will take us. AC Marchman author dropped little crumbs of the plot and I want to follow the trail to see where it goes.

Let me admit this, I love books that are in a series, mainly because if I love a book, I don’t want the story to end. Good authors can dangle the carrot in front of me and leave me hungry for more, anxiously waiting for the next book to come out so that I continue on the journey. Overwhelm Me is one of these books. I loved the story, the sexiness, the freaking HOT sex, the connection I felt to the characters, the emotions and I can’t wait for more!

For a debut novel, AC Marchman demonstrates talent in captivating storytelling. I look forward to the other books in the Callahan Series and many stories to come from this author. Give it a try!

4.5 Stars

Hmmmm. 2 stars is being nice. Let's see… this book seemed like it was written by an 8th grader. I have no idea how people were rating it 4 or 5 stars. The reviews were obviously inflated because no one in their right mind would think this story or the writing was quality. The writing was not only juvenile, but the editing was horrendous! (And this is coming from a girl who frequently reads self published authors.) The insta-love factor was beyond annoying. I had to pretend that the characters had known each other for months rather than just a few days in order to make the story remotely believable. Donovan cried WAY too much (I happen to like alpha males) and Allie seemed to have the emotional apptitude of a junior high school student. This book was almost a "do not finish" for me, but because I'm not a quitter, I hung in there and finished it. The story was so full of cliches and cheesy lines I had a hard time not gagging. The characters are one-dimensional and there was no big reveal that would even make this story somewhat interesting. I have never given a review like this so I feel bad because anyone writing a book deserves some credit. I will say that the story did pick up somewhat at the end and was slightly intriguing, so I may decide to read the next book in the hope that it can deliver on the promise of a potentially engaging story. The description of this book made it seem so much more interesting than it actually was. I had to struggle to get through this. It seemed the author was trying to capitalize on a formula she didn't quite know how to calculate.

One of the worse books I've read in a long time. In a nutshell....women bumps into handsome, wealthy doctor, thinks about him all day, coincidentally meets him again at a bar the same night, go home together, have sex, and beings a whirlwind romance that includes a lot of crying (from the heroine), some secrets from the past (psycho ex-lover in jail for murder, babies, affairs, etc). The hero met the heroine's family , they hit if off...and a bunch of other sappy shit. Mind you, this all takes me within 1 WEEK!

Another thing that annoyed me a lot about the was that the hero & heroine practically confessed their love for each other within 24hrs (really but not really. Even though I rated this book a 1 star, I will probably read book 2 to see what happens. Hopefully it'll be better than this one.

Seriously, never judge a book by it’s cover! When I first saw the cover for Overwhelm Me by AC Marchman it got my attention! I knew this was going to be a hot read, but I never expected that it would be such an amazingly SEXY HOT read with an equally fab story to go with it! Overwhelm Me had me hook, line and sinker from the get go :-)

AC Marchman did a fabulous job with her character development. She gives so much insight into who her characters are and where they come from, that I felt like they were people I knew. Allie (Alison) Marshall was just going about her business when she ran into Donovan Callahan. Do you believe in destiny? Do you believe in love at first sight? Allie is lovely, the kind of girl I would have as a friend. Donovan is..... well let’s just say you WILL be adding him to your BB list ;-)

Overwhelm Me did just that, it overwhelmed my senses and I couldn’t get enough of this SEXY HOT read! What I really loved about the hotness in this novel was that it didn’t feel dirty hot, it felt sexy and hot. Very tastefully done because of the amazing connection between the characters!! I feel like to many reads today are full of sex but that’s all they have going for them. Overwhelm Me was so much more.

Overwhelm Me does end with a cliffhanger, one that I did not expect! LOVED IT!!! I can’t wait for the release of Stay With Me (Book 2)!! I am completely hooked on this series and, Allie and Donovan!!! If you are looking for a FAB read that will keep you turning the pages, a modern romance that will have you needing more and, a super sexy hot read that will have you reeling with the feel of new love.... Overwhelm Me by AC Marchman is the read you are looking for :-)

I had the wonderful opportunity to read this before it comes out and i was asked for my honest opinion so here it goes ..... I must say I fell In love with these characters right from the start Allie the college student trying to finish up with her college courses slams into a hot guy literally in the school parking lot in a mad dash to get to a final exam lol and it goes on from there where they can't stop thinking about each other the end up meeting again while Allie is celebrating finishing her final exams with her best friend the fireworks jump off the page with her and Donovan (the hot guy she slams into ) and the story just flows from there. it's a fantastic read the sex scenes are HOT and I couldn't put it down I have to say this just because there are fireworks means you need to be careful not to get burned! Great book by a wonderful author make sure to read this because its a great story !! I can't wait for the next book to come out!

More like UNDERWHELM ME. Sorry, but this story could've been so much more. In the beginning I was hopeful that it would be a good read, but like 20% in I wanted to stop and start reading something else, but my reading OCD wouldn't let me. It was boring and the writing was elementary...plain and simple. Example: "I'm puzzled. What does "eye opening" mean? What an odd thing to say." The wording just didn't flow for me. On a positive note, the grammar and spelling were good. I'm not trying to be hateful in my review, I just think that the author could've done so much more with this story. Allie's history was interesting and could've been made into a better story. Besides the fact that Allie was a needy, jealous crybaby, how many one night stands turn into flow blown, meet the family after a week, relationship? She needs therapy, just sayin! IDK...just didn't do it for me. Hope the author sees this as constructive criticism and not someone on a rant.

Overall I liked this novel! The instant love connection happened a bit too easily for me. However, the sex scenes were hot and steamy and very well done! I felt a good connection with the characters as well. Donovan is like a dream guy, I'm still waiting for him to have some flaws (other than the ones revealed). I was suprised with Allie's secret. I just wish there was more build up overall. Very good first novel for A.C. Marchman though. I'm looking forward to reading the second one!

Well I shouldn't say "read" because I actually stopped reading it....very cheesy, unrealistic and not well written, felt like a bunch of short sentences that all seemed to end in exclamation points!!! "You're Donovan Callahan! That's crazy!"...really?.."check out this hottie!"....."you got to kiss him!" "I love Nachos! Good Choice!" "Dig in!"..... This was all in 3 pages.... Sorry but not good

In this breakout first novel by A.C. Marchman we follow the life of Allie Marshall. Running from her past Allie has devoted her life to her school work. She leaves little time for dating or having fun. She buries herself in her studies and perusing her career in the medical field as a Physician’s Assistant.

Running late for her last final of her senior year, she "runs" into the sexy Donovan Callahan. When I say "runs" she literally plows the poor man down. She is instantly struck by his beauty and though she knows she will never see him again, she cannot get him out her mind. This one chance encounter has completely consumed her every thought...

Donovan and Allie have instant chemistry that is filled with intensity and desire. When Allie's roommate and best friend Livey brings his prior relationship with an actress and the rumors that surround the young Dr. Callahan, Allie starts to get some cold feet about this relationship. You can't blame her when she is faced with a man with a very public and sordid past that she knows nothing about.

I really liked Allie's character she is realistic about this instant attraction and questions things like any person would. She did jump in so to speak but then she starts to really evaluate things and seems to be level headed. She is very smart, and focused on what she wants out of her future. We get to see the one thing in her past that has kept her from having a real relationship with men over the years. I give great respect to the author for the handling of this. I don't want to spoil what her secrets are you will have to read the book but it was handled with delicate care.

Donovan is intense, he is not quite dominating in my opinion but he is willing to do what it takes to get what he wants. He is persuasive to say the very least and maybe slightly obsessed. I have a feeling that in the next book we will get way more insight into his character because right now I feel like we don't know nearly enough about him. The one thing that I loved was his reaction to learning about Allie's past. I found a soft spot in my heart for him after reading his
handling of the situation. It takes a strong man to be supportive of situations like this and it made me really adore his character.

Things moved very fast in this first book and I did feel like there was some lacking in the character development. The story was intriguing but it felt like the end came way to quickly with a huge cliffhanger. I'm hoping that book 2 will give us a better understanding of their pasts and what they are both truly running from. Overall the book was still very good.

Even with these minor things that I noticed with the book it was worth the read and I give it 3.5-4 stars. I am anxious to see where Callahan Book #2 takes us.

" I have never felt this way about anyone before. Never. Frankly, it scares the Hell out of me because of how new this is to me. Everything about you is...amazing"

4.5 Stars!!

I have added another fictional boyfriend to my list after this. Another, rich, sexy, protecting, SEXY, amazing man. I have fallen hard for this one...mmm....Donovan Callahan.

The only reason I did not give the a full five stars is I feel it needs to go through editing again. Some parts were a little hard to follow, it seem to skip a sentence or something but the story line, characters and everything about this story was WONDERFUL!!

Allison (Allie) Marshall is a P.A. student Georgia. She has a 4.0 GPA and is hoping to get excepted in the Emory P.A. Program after graduating this weekend. She is originially from Virginia, raised by a very loving family.

Donovan Callahan is a second year resident at a clinic near by. He comes from a family with money and a past with some pretty crappy skeletons.

Oh MAN, both of these wonderful characters have pasts worth forgetting. Donovan used to date a reality star who was accused of killing her husband....how often do you read a story with THAT in there...

Allie's past is a little more interesting. When she told Donovan her story, I felt for the girl. My goodness she is so kind hearted. I fell in love with Allie, she is so sweet. She loves her family so much, she misses her father and she is just so sweet. She loves her best friend and is just an all around great girl....no wonder Donovan falls for her.

Donovan has more a playboy past. Life in the tabloids, right family, girls throwing themselves at him but what a sweetheart he can be....OMG SWOON!!!

The story is told in Allie's POV, until the end where we are given the cliffhanger in the eyes of Claire......yuck Claire, WHAT A BITCH!!!

This is the first book I have read by A.C. Marchman, but not my last. She has the second book coming out sometime in April or May and I will tell you, I CAN NOT WAIT!!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes the normal everyday girl that is swept off her feet by a rich handsome man.....Every girls dream ;)

I received an ARC of Overwhelm Me from AC Marchman and I am so thankful to her for sharing it with me. I loved this story and know it is going to do GREAT!

The story begins with Allie literally running into Donovan on her way to her last exam of college life. Both are immediately attracted to each other but neither says anything and they go their separate ways. Then later as Allie is celebrating at a local club with her friends, guess who is there?? Yes, Donovan is there and the two get very close quickly. I loved how quickly these two fall for each other. But both have some serious skeletons in their closet and they have to try their hardest to work through them without it coming between them.

There are so many things I loved about this book and Allie is one of them. Allie is a smart, beautiful woman who has been through a lot but has come out on top. I admire her for the decisions she made and direction she is headed in life. Not every female would have taken the high road like her and I admire her for it. I love a story with a strong female character and Allie is definitely one of my favorites. There is no whiney, poor pitiful me in her character and she deserves Donovan :)

“I close my eyes and listen to the music, bopping my head to the pulsating song. When I open them, I am looking right into the sculpted face of the man of my dreams.”

And Donovan…oh, Donovan!!! He is smart, sexy, compassionate, protective and rich. I enjoyed how he was not afraid to show his feelings but then also he was Allie’s hero when she needed him. His family is EXTREMELY rich and he doesn’t mind spending his money on Allie but yet he doesn’t flaunt it around and depend on it in life. The only thing that bothered me about Donovan was his inability to talk with Allie about his past. (a usual male issue...Ha!) Allie was very open about hers even if it hurt but yet he would not talk about his.

I found the author’s writing very easy to read. She had me pulled into the story immediately!! There was just enough detail for me to get a good picture of what was going on but not too much that it confused me. I never lost interest in this story and didn’t expect the ending. It is a cliff hanger but not one that leaves you distressed.

I consider myself lucky to have read Overwhelm Me before early and look forward to more from AC Marchman :)

Overwhelm Me is a delicious erotic romance! Allison Marshall is a country girl from Lynchburg, Virginia. When she first meets Dr. Donovan Callahan, heir to a wine family fortune, it is with a bang as they collide in her college’s hallway because she is running late to an exam for her physician’s assistant program. Allie is thrilled when they run into each other again later that day in a bar and their mutual attraction is immediately apparent. He is not only rich and hot, but brave and caring as well. Allies sees this side of him as he gets into a bar fight with a rude, groping linebacker who comes on way too strong on Allie. She’s rattled by the incident and Donovan offers to take her home in his BMW. After they almost have sex in the parking lot, they arrive at her home and Allie invites him in for a drink, which results in mind-blowing sex. Allie’s been with only one other guy, but Donovan is special and she lets him have his way on their first “date.” AC Marchman is at her best when writing about sex and I was squirming in my seat as I devoured the pages depicting the fiery chemistry between these two lovers.

As they get to know each other, Donovan reveals that he’s had one-night stands before, and so Allie has to wonder whether she too will she be another casual notch on his belt. Or is there a future for them as a couple? He swears to her it is the latter, that he is in this for the long haul and they need to give it a try, but Allie has a hard time trusting him. When he takes her out to a very expensive dinner, or when they’re out shopping at Bloomingdale’s, Allie sees women falling all over themselves over him. She’s been hurt before by her high school boyfriend, who was a star athlete, a hunk, and a jerk who humiliated her. She is not interested in having her heart and dignity broken again. Further complicating the situation is that he has a secret. One that has gossip rag reporters stalking him and taking pictures of them when they go out. She also has a secret. Can they both handle them? Highly recommended for lovers of erotic romance.

Sometimes a title of a book tells you what you need to expect from its story and this book is on that category. After reading OVERWHELM ME, I get why the author chose the title.

The story of DC & AM is overwhelming in a way that what they have is so sudden and deep that you want to take a step back and think if it’s right and worth it. And as a reader, I found myself reading back some of the pages coz I can’t believe that I am reading such story. Coz usually by the middle of most books, you get all the nitty-gritty parts and the crazy drama that is the twist of the story but in this book, you will not find a single crazy in it. I swear. And ya know what? I liked it. I really do. It’s nice to read a book where there is less drama and crazy or the lack of it. It’s overwhelming coz it’s kind of new though I have to admit, even before reading the last 20 pages of the book, I was really preparing myself for the cliffhanger or for the bomb to drop… and it didn’t. But the last part gave the readers of this book what to expect for book 2. I guess, all the drama and crazy will happen in book 2 and I can’t wait!

And oh, DC is not my type of a book boyfriend coz he’s not the usual Alpha Male that I like but he is swoony and very much gorgeous and so damn hot.. especially in bed, not that I know how it feels to have him on top of me or vice versa but reading the sexy parts was sooooo good. *wink *wink AM is also a wonderful character. She’s shy in a way but she has claws and not afraid to show it if the situation calls for it. I like that she bites. Rawr.

Book 2 will reveal a lot of things, I think. There’s so much DC is not telling bout his past relationship with Claire but I am guessing Claire is a dominant or something. Maybe they practiced it vice versa or something like that. Hmmmmm

Give it a try. It’s a fun, good read.
