5 can i really give myself over to you stars

Logan, aka Ada has lived alone for three years, after her first love left her. She is still heartbroken, but when Jorgen moves in opposite, her heart may just open again. Little do they know, they both have already met...

Logan married her high school sweetheart Andrew Amsel just after they graduated. But their marriage didn't work out. Now Logan works as a columnist writing about the strange things we see in everyday life. She leads a content life, although she still misses Andrew, and the life they could have had if Andrew didn't leave her.
“You weren’t supposed to leave me,” I whisper.
I pause and force my lips up, but the smile quickly fades away.
“If I would have known that day was going to be our last day together, I would have held you tighter. I would have kissed you longer.”

FAYHL starts off with showing past clips of her and Andrew, showing how their love has progressed ever since Logan first moved down the street. These snippets are shown throughout the book, and really add to the depth and feelings in the book.

As the snippets carry on, Ada is shown in present tense meeting Jorgen, and showing that they get to know each other. The first time we meet Jorgen, they have an interesting conversation, and Jorgen later recalls this to Ada.
“The first time I met you, your hair was down; you were wearing a big sweatshirt and nothing else; and you promised me that you weren’t a former one-night stand.”

As Jorgen and Ada grow closer, we get closer to the mystery of why Andrew left Logan shortly after their marriage. And oh em gee I was left guessing until the very end, because she kept seeing Amsel throughout, it threw away my original suspicion I had some things figured out before the MC figured them out like that

And the reason why is so sad, and well written. During 'that scene' I knew I was about to cry, so I asked my mum to read it so that I wouldn't cry, but I did anyway. Damn you Laura, why does it have to be so heartbreaking?
Crying- Misha Collins

But the "6 months later" and "the epilogue" are really sweet...
Sons of Anarchy
Except that God could have been kept out of the whole story, but at least it was kept out of the main body of the book.

It is also a very 'clean' romance, but it didn't affect me enough to not give it five stars.

I absolutely loved this book, so I most definitely recommend it for you to read!

I received a copy of For All You Have Left in exchange for an honest review (Thank you very, very, very much Laura!)

Absolutely beautiful!!! Gorgeous writing, unforgettable characters, and a story that felt so real.... Couldn't ask for anything more. Love...

“I’m going to love you, Logan, forever and a day.”

I will definitely remember this book forever… and a day. What a pleasant surprise to come across a story so engrossing and emotional that the characters instantly branded themselves in my heart. For All You Have Left was exactly what I was looking for when I was searching for a book that would make me remember the characters’ names for more than a day.

Logan Ada, Andrew and Jorgen shared a story that moved me from beginning to end. I read this novel in one sitting because I just couldn’t tear myself away from them. I was both captivated and moved by the events that shaped their lives and influenced their future. Beautiful story that’s about hope, friendship, and lasting love.

He's my perfect - one part solid as a rock, one part crazy, one part starry-eyed dreamer.

In Fall All You Have Left, three characters come together to tell their story in a way that was heart-rending and full of power. Each of their lives take a sudden shift after a tragic event occurs and a long-time friendship and love is altered. When Jorgen meets Logan Ada she is making every effort to reshape her future and get past the pain she’s endured. As the story unfolds and the novel reveals surprising connections between the characters, For All You Have Left leaves you with a sense of completion and contentment.

The journey for Logan Ada and Jorgen felt meaningful to me. It inspired me in ways few books have lately. I’ve saved my eBook as a favorite and I’m grateful that a random search collided me with this story. It was beautiful from beginning to end. I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a book filled with heart and purpose. Excellent!

It's just another day with you - the best day of my life.

5+ ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL & TOUCHING STARS!

I cried... but at the end they were all happy tears!♥

description

For All You Have Left has to be one of the sweetest, heart-melting, and heartbreaking stories I have ever read. I loved it!

This is a second-chance story about the beauty of first loves, healing, taking chances, and learning to live again. All that wrapped around strong feelings of longing and hope.

This book was written beautifully with some interchangeable chapters that tell Logan's story from the past and present. I loved that about this book as it kept the anticipation going all the way to the end. That writing approach also made many moments in the story so much more meaningful and unforgettable. Like when I felt my heart swelling from pure joy and love for the stunning history the characters were creating. Or at other times when my heart just broke and I couldn't stop the tears... But I loved every roller coaster of emotions this book gave me as it proved how captivating and beautiful the story was to me.

With every chapter I read I fell more and more connected with Logan. She was my girl! Such a sweet, loving, and yet strong young lady who despite the tough circumstances life had her go through she still had hope. She was trying to heal her broken heart but couldn't let go of the memories. And that was her journey; a journey of deep healing, learning to hold onto love instead of pain, and letting herself feel whole again.

Meeting Jorgen changes Logan's life forever, he is the key that forces her to finally confront the heartache and accept that she is deserving of true happiness. Through out the book Logan was surrounded by unforgettable and captivating love. Both precious kinds of love that completely blew me away at every word said. It was just beautiful to see love like that and even more beautiful for me to feel it all along with Logan.♥

There were amazing twists in the story that I loved so much. They were totally unpredictable and breathtaking. They transformed the story and gave it an incredible ending that I couldn't be more delighted with.

Again Laura's writing was just outstanding. She created one of the most beautiful and uplifting love stories I have read. It was impossible not to fall in love with this book and make it one of my favorite reads. I recommended For All You Have Left to everybody who loves true romance stories but also stories that leave you uplifted and touched to the very core of your heart.♥

Yep, you guessed it right... a MUST READ! ;)

Favorite Quotes:

“I can’t imagine loving someone more. He’s my perfect—one part solid as a rock, one part crazy, one part starry-eyed dreamer.”

“I’m gonna love you, Logan, forever and a day.”

“You’re my summer night. And my blue-sky afternoon and my rainy Sunday...and...my open road.”

“There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

I really don't know how to begin this review. I'm on such a high and it's the best. This book is the best. I loved Butterfly Weeds and it's unimaginable to think that now I have a new favorite but I guess it's OK being it's Laura's other baby.

I can not tell you how much in love I am with this story. With Ada, Jorgen, Logan and Andrew. The pure joy during reading it and the peace I felt when I was done is just a glimpse to my feeling.

It was beautiful and raw and gorgeous and perfect. There was nothing it lacked.

My heart went out for Logan, she was dealt with something that can happen to anyone of us in a blink of an eye.

"We spend so much of our passion on our first love. I'm not convinced that it-passion-is one of those things that you have a n endless amount of-like happiness or sadness. I could be happy all day. I could be sad all day. But I'm not so sure I'll ever love like that again.
I think I used all my passion up on the boy who stole my first I love you..."

Logan and Andrews relationship started when they were kids. They were just perfect for each other- Until. Well, not until. They were perfect but that doesn't mean you can't have two perfects. Logan had her perfect and Ada had her perfect. I know Ada/Logan it's confusing but it's the same beautiful girl/woman you'll instantly fall for me I did. Because Andrew did. Because Jorgen did. I really thought I had it all figured out. But then I would change my mind. I'm actually glad.I didn't figure it all out, I was able to take the story and imprint in me. I wasn't trying to figure what was happening.

Seeing through words, the heartache, the living in the past, wanting a future.

"Andrew, I love you so much. I just can't wait another day. And plus, I imagined myself probably a million times in the last few days standing wit you in front of that judge in this dress on this exact day. It already feels so real; I can't even imagine not actually living it."

Logan and Andrew's relationship was cute and loving. It was a joy to watch as normal kids grow the love each other. The connection they had was true. And Andrew was a little prince charming. All little boys should be like him.

"Forever and a day." How Logan and Andrew felt for one another. I think for me, I'll need more time to love this book!

Ada is living her life, day to day. But not living for anything. She's just breathing. Nothing spectacular happening. She wasn't a 'poor pitiful me' type of girl, she was just there. In her day to day life. Work-family-work-family. Enter Jorgen. Jorgen is the best book boyfriend there ever was- maybe even ever will be. I know that's saying something but this guy was more than perfect. He was sweet and caring and a man. He had so many swoon-worthy moments, I lost count. That's a grrrreat thing :)

I highlighted so many parts to their relationship. I loved seeing their friendship blossom. Just like a flower. They started slow. With a simple hi or hey, slow progression, slow contact. I overly enjoyed their chemistry. They were adults, there wasn't a young mental thinking. No OMG's no going back and forth. They started truly as friends. There was no doubt where the friendship would lead. It was wonderful to watch.

"Maybe we knew each other in another life,
Or maybe we were just meant to find each other in this one."

"It wasn't the truck that made me feel like I was home, It wasn't even being home that made me feel like I was home. It was you, Ada. Being next to you in Ol' Red made me feel like I was finally home."

There wasn't heavy petting, just cool touches, holding hands, cuddling on the couch watching TV eating pizza. There were heavy fireworks when their skin grazed. It was real. A real connection. A real bond. It was a true bond. Events in their lives lead them to one another. There isn't a more 'meant to be' couple that is believable than Ada and Jorgen <3

This quote is my most favorite line of the entire book. It says so much and means so much.
"Ada. You're my summer night.
My blue-sky afternoon
My rainy Sunday...and my open road."

"You're my sea otter. When they sleep on the water, one holds the others hand so she doesn't drift away from him." I feel his hand squeeze mine a little tighter.

"I won't let you drift away."

My second favorite quote is one that I can't share because it's in the end and it would give so much away. But I believe once your eyes read the beauty of the words your heart will shudder. You have no clue how much love you're able to give in this life, I'm more than thankful that Laura has blessed us with another magnificent read that will forever be my favorite. <3

4.5 stars -- Full review with quotes can be found at Romantic Reading Escapes.

For All You Have Left is a tale of hope in learning to live again when you are given a second chance at life and are able to put the past behind you. I thought I knew where this story was taking me, but I was so wrong. There are twists and surprises that I didn't see, making me sad and happy at the same time. The feelings I felt throughout my reading are indescribable, as the author developed her characters in a fashion that had me, the reader, in a love triangle whereas the characters were not.

Laura Miller has captured small town life perfectly, as she brought back memories of the one-finger wave that I remember from my own childhood, and the simplicity of family, church picnics, and country fairs. There is such a conflict of feelings that coincides with reading this novel. The contentment at the familiar setting, childhood sweethearts, and the elation of experiencing one's first love are opposed with the sadness of that accompanies trying to move forward and constructing a new life when the past haunts you in your dreams; the sadness of letting go coupled with the fear that once you let go, everything will be gone forever, because reality will set in.

To say this story didn't affect me emotionally is wrong. It did. The prologue had me hooked and the beginning chapters of watching Logan and Andrew develop a lifetime of love as children and spanning into early adulthood were sweet and to be cherished. The extreme emotions that brought tears didn't pour from me until the last 15 to 20% of the novel. Up until that point, I was engrossed in the mystery of where things went wrong in Logan Cross's life and what led to the necessity to start life anew. But the journey to get to from the prologue to that last 20% was devine, as I witnessed Logan's slow immersion into her new life with the help of Jorgen Ryker.

I connected with Logan from the very beginning of her story, but I truly identified with her in the end. I watched her go from a strong and happy girl to a melancholy woman attempting to move forward at the chance of having a second life, when she was afraid to let go of her old one. Letting go would mean that it was real, and Logan didn't want to face reality.

Jorgen Ryker is not the typical hero we find in most books these days. He isn't a copy cat of tattooed bad boys or alpha bikers or rock stars. He owns a bike, but he is really a small town, country, farm boy who grew into a handsome paramedic with piercing ice blue eyes. When he becomes Logan's next door neighbor, things begin to change for Logan. She expects him to be as strange as all the other people she's had as neighbors or comes into contact with, but his only quirk is M&M day, which just endeared him to me even more. Jorgen becomes her safety net in the sense that she feels safe and comfortable trying to move forward with him in her life. And this is where my own love triangle began.

I didn't want to like Jorgen, much less love him. I wanted to continue to love Andrew, because he was my first love in this novel. I felt as though I was cheating on Andrew somehow if I loved Jorgen, too. But, I just couldn't help it. Jorgen stole my heart with his personality, his honesty, his passion, and his tenderness. Everything that made me fall in love with Andrew made me fall in love with Jorgen. So, I can imagine what Logan was going through.

When I speak of a love triangle, I'm not speaking of the characters. There isn't a traditional love triangle in this book, although there are two heroes in the story. The love triangle is strictly for the reader, because you will be torn between your feelings for Jorgen and Andrew, but it's okay to love them both. Laura Miller has woven together two sweet love stories that will capture and transport the reader to times gone by and to a future of hope. This is a very fast read and I recommend that you experience the first and true lives of Logan Cross.

**Thank you to Laura Miller for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. In a pay it forward 2014, I will gift a lucky reader with an ebook of For All You Have Left on release day. To enter, just comment on the blog post with a story of your first love. I might even share my own. ;)

I guess I'm the odd one this time. This book was just ok. I didn't have a real grasp of MC as a person really. Also, it's was really sweet, and normally that's alright, but in this one it caused me to skim. A lot.

That's the biggest problem I had with this book, I ended up skimming a good chunk of it.

This one was just not for me.

"I gave him a piece of my heart a long time ago, and once you give that away, I've learned you don't so easily get it back."

Logan Cross met the boy she was going to marry when she was just nine years old (Cue music to 'Today I met the boy I'm gonna marry' by Darlene Love). Andrew Amsel was the boy next door and the first face she saw in her new neighborhood. As the years passed Andrew became her friend, her crush, her first kiss, and most importantly, her first love. Logan and Andrew's love was supposed to last forever and a day, but what happens when forever ends too soon?

Trying to move on Logan reinvents herself as Ada, no longer being able to bear hearing the name "Logan" from another's lips. When Jorgen Ryker moves across the hall Logan gets more than she expected as they develop a friendship that becomes more in such a short amount of time.

Although Logan knows she has genuine feelings for Jorgen, the question is if she is ready to finally move on from
the past, let go of Andrew, and take a second chance on love?

"Maybe we knew each other in another life. Or maybe we were just meant to find each other in this one."

For All You Have Left is a beautifully written story of moving on, second chances, and love - first loves and true loves. Captivating and heartwarming For All You Have Left is sure to touch your heart and stay with you.

Laura's characters are memorable, well-written, and real. From laughter to tears, you can feel it all as if you are a part of the book yourself. Andrew is the boy every girl wishes to have as a first love. Logan is strength personified. After what Logan went through, she managed to move on and take a second chance at love, all the while knowing that noone can replace Andrew in her heart. The strength she had at such a young age in order to get through everything is simply amazing. And last but not least Jorgen's quirks - cooking shows and m&ms are quite adorable for a grown man. I loved each and every character and what they brought into the story.

For All You Have Left had captured my heart and is sure to be one of those books that I read over and over again, After reading this I can honestly say Laura had become one of my favorite authors and I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Oh man, this book made me cry. Not a tear here and there but full on, runny nose cry. The end was just.. OMG. I was also so emotional because their relationship reminded me of my own. I have been with my husband since I was 14 but knew him long before that. I can't even imagine going through was Logan/Ada went through so young.

The twist was predictable and it became obvious at one point, I was just waiting for the reveal. Although, I will say the author threw in a few things that made me question it all.

So beautifully heartbreaking

*****5 Forever...And A Day Stars*****

The tears were falling constantly throughout this heartbreaking story. Ada (Logan) is such a strong woman. Jorgen was full of hope, love and the future. Andrew was a hopeless romantic and live in the moment type of guy. In this book you fall in love with both of them. Amazingly written and a MUST READ!!

Laura Miller is about as great as they come at writing sweet, enthralling romance novels. She shows that you don’t have to have the sexuality that so many do these days. She writes the most beautiful stories and captivating characters. If you pick up a Laura Miller book, be prepared to stay up and continue reading because her books are unputdownable. For All You Have Left was no exception. It was a gorgeous story about a girl and her two loves – her first love and true love, and how to not let go of one entirely, but move into the future with the other.

I loved these characters. Logan/Ada (You’ll see) is strong, loves her family, and enjoys her career as a writer for a magazine. You see her as a child and teenager, and her relationship with her first love, Andrew. You also see her as the adult who lives by herself and is single. It teases you with flashbacks, making you wonder what the secret is. How does she go from being so in love with her childhood/high school sweetheart, to being all alone? The puzzle pieces will start fitting together, in the midst of watching a new love make his way into Ada's heart.

That new love is Jorgen – The gorgeous next-door neighbor. They just click when they first meet. It’s not instalove, but you know there’s something there. Throughout the beginning of their relationship, you can’t help but fall in love with him. Their relationship is so sweet, romantic, and just a ton of fun to read. They made me giggle, and Jorgen will make you swoon. The interactions and conversations between Ada and Jorgen are also SO adorable. I enjoyed seeing them together, and seeing their relationship mature.

Overall, I can't recommend this book enough. It shows that there can still be novels out there that don't revolve around sex, but can still be just as interesting as the ones that do. The characters are real. Laura is so great at making you feel like you're really living in their moment, right there with them. The descriptions used for the places and times were dead on. I just love love love this book and their story.

Let me start off by telling you how I began to read this book. I had just received it in a beautiful package so I ran to the pool and sat out with my cousin and friend. While they are being typical girls tanning I am screaming like NOOOO DON'T LET IT BE!, OH NO!, OH GOD I'M GOING TO CRY! These reactions make people look at you crazy but in our little bookish world it usually means it could possibly be an exceptionally amazing book. Laura Miller brought out every emotion in me through her writing.

Andrew made me fall head over heels in love with him within the first few pages. He is seriously a dream boat. Logan is so completely in love that even though her world gets turned upside-down you can't help but feel her every pain and completely understand the undying love. I seriously tried to predict what was going to happen and what happened in the past but of course it didn't turn out how I thought. I swear half of the events were put there just to torture me.

Then of course there is Jorgen. Man how do you not love him but at the same time still completely love Andrew. It killed me but he was a whole other level of amazingness. First of all, completely gorgeous, then he is super funny and sweet. He is an EMT and loves it which makes you want to kiss him even more. I seriously felt Logan's dilemma.

I highly recommend this book to all the saps out there. I totally expected it to be a typical story young love, loss and heartbreak but no trust me it will throw you through a loop and keep you guessing. Laura Miller you make me a fan!

Logan Cross met her best friend and future husband the day her parents moved her to a small town in Missouri. She moves in just a few doors down from Andrew and their friendship is instant and it just grows from there. When both Andrew and Logan are eighteen they get married, thinking they had their happy ever after. But life did not turn out as they expected.

As Logan is trying to start her life over, she meets Jorgen Ryker. He is her new neighbor. As they spend time together feelings develop, but Logan is keeping her past from him.

My review:

Oh my... I do not think that I have ever read a love story as touching as this one. The romance in this book is the best. Not mushy and over top but true and real.

First loves are always special. Andrew and Logan had that from age nine. They may not realize it at that young of an age but they felt it and it showed in their actions and their words. I love that they shared everything with each other, not letting other people get in the way with their relationship and friendship.

Then there are real loves. Real loves are what Logan and Jorgen share. It is amazing how quick their relationship happens. As a reader I could feel the sparks from the first peek through the peek hole in the door. I loved the patience and the truths between the two of them.

This is certainly one of my favorite love stories ever. I highly recommend For All You Have Left by Laura Miller.

What a beautiful and touching story For All You Have Left is.

These days I mostly just one-click the freebies or 99c reads. Once in a while a book will really intrigue me and I can't help myself and buy it anyway. I kept going back to this title and am so glad that I bought it.

I thought I knew what was happening in the book but at 80% still had my doubts as to what really had happened and it was lovely to be so engrossed at that mark. I had to work today and found myself thinking all day about the book and couldn't wait to get home and finish it.

I can't recommend this book enough…it really is beautiful. Make sure you have a box of tissues close by.

I highlighted a few passages, but this is one of my favourites.

People say it all gets better in time. And I think it does. Each day is a little better than the last; each dream pulls me back just a little bit less. But what they don't say is how much time it takes. They don't tell you how many more moments your heart will race, sink, tear or ache. They don't tell you how many more breaths you'll lose over a memory, a dream, a scent, a spoken name. They don't tell you how long it will take to heal.

Few people find their first love at 9-years-old. But Logan Cross did. She met Andrew when she moved in down the street from him. They got married at 18, just after their high school graduation. They loved each other deeply. Forever and a day. But nothing really lasts forever.

"I gave him a piece of my heart a long time ago, and once you give that away, I've learned you don't so easily get it back."

Several years down the road, life is much different than she ever thought it would be. And she has a new (and very sexy) neighbor. And he happens to be her second chance at love, hope, and laughter.

"Maybe the story of our life is what we make of it. I mean, we're dealt the rain and the sun, but maybe it's up to us to push away the clouds in order to see the rainbow."

This is a beautiful story of second chance love. My favorite kind. Laura Miller did a fantastic job painting this picture for her readers. 5+ stars.

Realmente precioso.

Me encantó.

What a fantastic read! Wonderful characters that were easy to fall in love with, an absolutely lovely writing style, and plenty of unexpected twists and turns made this novel a true delight to read. I found myself thinking about the story throughout the day and being so anxious to get back to reading it! This is romance at its best. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good, satisfying, absorbing romance. I can't wait to read more by this very talented author!

***Thank you to Laura Miller and to Goodreads for providing me with an advance copy of this wonderful book.

For All You Have Left is a great story of how powerful love can be despite the paths life can take you on. You can relate to what the characters are thinking and feeling, and as the story develops, you can't help but keep reading. This is a story that anyone and everyone can appreciate. The ending will keep you on the edge of your seat and draws everything to a climatic finish. I definitely recommend reading this book. It is really captivating. I actually read it in two days but could have easily read it in a night. I give it five stars!

It made me cry—even from the very beginning, and the twist had me guessing until the end! I couldn’t put it down because I just had to know who Amsel was! It was such a heart-warming and real love story. And the small-town feel was spot on! I’m from a small town, and it made me laugh along with the characters in parts because I could relate to their experiences! I just can’t recommend this book enough. You won’t be disappointed!

Once again Laura Miller weaves a wonderful story. One full of love, loss, hope and moving forward in life. The author has a particular writing style that makes you become emotionally invested in the characters. I did figure out the 'twist' very early on, however that didn't detract from the story at all. I have enjoyed Laura's books so much that I have read the three of them in three days!!

If this doesn't pull on your heart - then I'm not sure what will. It's a very emotional read. I typically don't enjoy stories that switch back and forth in time, but this one totally works. I'm not sure it could have been pulled off any other way. This is not a typical drama driven love story it's more.
